    Folks,
I just downloaded the OAS 4.0.8.1 (Linux) from technet and the read me file indicated that the installation guide should be located in "ows/4.0/doc/books/install/install.pdf". However, I cannot find this file or even directory form my download.

  • Install of SAP on  Linux -glibc-32bit-8.1-9 for Novell SUSE SLES Linux 10.

    Hi All
We are installing the Oracle on x86_64 using Novell SUSE SLES 10.
As per OSS note 841728 , (Installation Proble #8) for SUSE\UnitedLinux x86_64 ) we should have glibc-32-8.1-9 and glibc-devel-32bit-8.1-9 installed.
We have glibc-32bit-2.4-31.30 and glibc-devel-32bit-2.4-31.30 installed on Linux server.
    My question are :-
    1) Do we must have these files (glibc-32-8.1-9) installed? Or will do with  glibc-32bit-2.4-31.30.
As OUI gives following warning during installation :-
    Checking recommended glibc version.......failed
2 ) where to get these files from? I was unable to find these RPMs?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Dear Hannes
First of all thank you for the reply.
Yes, I am using the "RUNINSTALLER" from SAP directory, but updated "RUNINSTALLER" I downloaded as per OSS note  980426.
Using workaround # 3 , recommended by SAP.
I have downloaded these Oracle CD's (material #  51031676) from service market place 5days ago and they are dated as 11-04-2006.
I have to use OSS note 980426 as I was getting following error

If you have multiple monitors and run Linux, you may want to display different images as your wallpaper on each monitor. There's a utility for that – Nitrogen. The blackMORE Ops blog has a nice how-to on getting Nitrogen and configuring it, with step-by-step instructions and plenty of screenshots.

  • OAS, Linux, CMAN and Oracle 9.2.0.7

    Greetings All:
We are running Oracle 9.2.0.7 on RHES3 and I have been told by our dba that we cannot run Oracle Advanced Security (OAS) with SSL because of incompatibilities mentioned on Metalink notes Note 166492.1 and Note 331125.1. I do not have Metalink access but I do not understand. I mean if OAS did not work on Linux it seems like that would be a major bug.
What we want to do is have secure communications between our users Windows workstations and the Oracle database server. The connections are made using the Oracle supplied drivers and sql*net. What I do not want to rely on is the IT department saying that the netowrk is secure so that is good enough. The only other option they are offering is to use Cisco's TED, which according to my understanding only provides a secure connection between their hardware (routers, etc).
Can someone either validate that this is true that OAS with SSL will not work on Linux or offer another option for security? Is all of this fixed by upgrading to 10g?
    Thanks
    Dan

Thanks Steve, That's probably what we'll try and do.
I'm just trying to find some hard evidence that it's a Forms patch problem. Something to give to Management that says "You should be on a least patch x with 9.2.0.7 because of problems x, y and z".
The application is in strict maintenance mode - the server upgrade was forced on us from outside.

  • OAS 4 for Linux?

    Hi
Does anyone know if OAS4 is going to be released for

I see many people complaining about OWAS Performance.
I don't know the exact reason but my OWAS installation is
really faster than an NT BOX (at least the PL/SQL Cartridge).
I'm connecting to Oracle8.0.4 EE on RS/6000 with AIX 4.3.
    It's just perfect.
Probably some stupid problem with libraries...

  • OAS 4.0.7 on SUSE Linux 6.1 gets very slow or hangs

    Hallo out there,
we installed OAS 407 on a SUSE Linux 6.1 system with ORACLE
Server 8.0.5.0.0. After long time solving installation problems,
we are now able to start OAS via the OAS-Manager html page.
And we are able to launch a simple PL/SQL-application, which
produces the output of a system table. Now, the thing is, that we
can start this application once or twice or maybe a few times
more but then the system hangs or gets very slow, so that only a
hard reboot of the server machine works.
We configured the NR_TASKS parameter in tasks.h to get ulimit to
512 for the user processes. System seemed to work better then,
but maybe only a little bit better.
We have also got problems with domain-names and node-names, which
sometimes are just machinename, then machinename.domainname, then
    again machinename.badister.(none) .
If there is anyone out there who has got the same problems or
    solved them, please tell me.

I have wasted a lot of time trying to get OAS 4.0.7 to run with
a 2.2 kernel... it doesn't work, even after you've fixed all the
problems like to ps command for example, the listeners hang. I
now have it working on a 2.0 kernel, which is reasonably stable,
although I have to do a reboot every few days!

  • OAS Install Issues SUSE LINUX  [ulimit]

Like many others I am having issues installing OAS onto my SUSE EE Linux Server. The problem is that I cannot modify the ulimit for the oracle user (the user to install the OAS under). I have followed the directions found on the oracle site for installing 10g. I have also done a lot of searching regarding this issue and none seem to work. I have redone the process using orarun with these directions (http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/installtxt/10gr2_sles9.txt) And I have followed directions found (http://www.novell.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=10096341&sliceId=&dialogID=6335233&stateId=0%200%206333704) regarding setting /etc/security/limits.conf, /etc/pam.d/login, and /etc/pam.d/xdm . Any help on this issue would be excellent!
The issue is that ulimit -n for oracle returns 1024 no matter what I do. And ulimit -n 6653 returns an error.

Ok its working now. Basically I didn't set "session required /etc/pam.d/pam_limits.so" in /etc/pam.d/xdm till late last night and I forgot to reboot the server. This morning when I was running ulimit -n 65536 to get the error msg it worked. So thanks for the quick response, but my problem is now solved.

  • Linux OAS - Router - Windows

    Hi,
I have configured OAS 10.1.3 on Linux (Red Hat 4.5) and installed OAS.
The Enterprise Manager web pages are accessible from the Linux box, however, I cannot access the web pages from my laptop, despite been able to ping the Linux box.
What do I need to do to open up the webserver to other machines on my network?
I have included the network info below.
Thanks all - and merry Christmas
The linux box has an static ip of 192.168.0.99 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0) and uses the default gateway of the router (192.168.0.1).
The laptop has an i.p. address of 192.168.0.2 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0) and uses the default gateway of the router (192.168.0.1).

    Hi,
maybe since the server is using a high port an integrated firewall inside the router might be blocking its access. You could probably look at the configuration of the router.
You could also add the ip of the linux box in the hosts file on the laptop this could not harm.
Hopefully you will find this usefull
