I know many of us Skype users see things that are needed. Things that were taken away we want back. Plus I have heard some very good new ideas.

I am hopeful. Why? Because we are starting to see a few small GOOD changes on Skype, after breaking a few important things. (did you know we can now remove messages f users in our group Skype rooms with Skype version 7.0?. HOW ABOUT EDIT? and how about Cloud Rooms?)

Yes after I had the ideas, wrote a survey and created the Skype Room group, I discovered the Forum thread about Skype Ideas and had the same thought. they are already doing this. So, I guess the benefit of mine is to raise awareness of this Skype Idea Community Board.
In my Skype Room guidelines, there is a link to the Survey which has links to all the Skype Ideas Boards for all the Skype clients, (Win7,8 iOS, Mac)... well Mac didnt have one, but I linked to the Mac blog & community.
I completely agree and love the explanation of the process to elevate the most Kudo'd (voted for/ popular) idea requests for implimentation. Very Impressive. People don't relaize that Skype/MS is listening... as you said ... to the clear focused voice of the most voted for and commented on Ideas for Skype changes. So Pleae dont dilute the votes for the same request! I will repeat the good info I found and link to it again....

We are also interested in seeing a beta forum as well (as we currently see it with other Adobe apps) so we can participate there as well. Please take notice
I am sure that is a LOT of useful information in the old forums. Maybe there is a way of having that old content get consolidated in terms of digest PDF for "new" users to use search within. I don't think it makes a lot of sense to let one dig through thousands of text entries manually to find the useful information, especially as much of this changed over time as "work in progress". Tipps from 2 years ago may be completely useless now with newer tools, and so on. So I vote for pumping out the old content into a PDF or something, so we have that all "at hand". Honestly, as we long term users didn't know of the deal before it happened, all that information was apparently gone before we could "safe it" for our own purposes. Thats what I am looking for right now.
That PDF could be linked in a sticky closed thread like "IRIDAS User Forum content until September 2011" or similar. Just an idea.

What models can i buy to work in Skype? I'd like them to be the best for speech. But I don't need headphones to be able to have better characteristics than my Mac book pro has and let me remind you I don't need to listen to anything but speech. So, I don't need to waste money.

Vote for the change of the name BFS scheduler

I do not know if this is the right forum to post this, so forgive me if it isn't. I like the merits of this new scheduler, but I am absolutely abhor by it's naming. It's rude, disrespectful, and simply unprofessional to have such a name for such a piece of software technology. I do not see the likes of any naming scheme in any other areas of computing. Now this is my opinion, and I guess I am just trying to see what the general opinion or consensus is out there regarding this name.
Why could not the developer called it something like, BSS (Brain Smart Scheduler), or IDS (Intelligent Desktop Scheduler), or NPS (New Paradigm Scheduler), KWS (Kolivas-Works Scheduler), or HPKS (High Performance Kolivas Scheduler), or something more respectable. I know that with this existing name, it keeps it on the lips, tongues and minds (consciously/unconsciously) of everyone. But does not what it has done already enough to bring it to the forefront. I imagine that this great piece of software and what it has done, should stand on merit alone, and not on a controversial name. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, I believe a name can to. Fact is, the name betrays him as a professional. It does not cast him in a good light. Maybe he does not care, but this is not part of some inconsequential, ten-minute game. It is in fact part of an important, cutting edge O.S called Linux. And he should care about naming it more appropriately.
It is said that if we see a wrong, then it is for us to know that we have the power to effect a change, make it right and good, and in the end make a positive difference. That is what I, and I hope others will attempt to do.
No disrespect to Con Kolivas, I would love to see this new scheduler become a core part of the kernel, just not with this ridiculous name. A Good Name will always be Regarded, a Bad One should always be Discarded. These are just my views, what do you think. Vote Yes/No for a name change.

DO NOT GO FOR VERIZON IF YOU WANT BB Z10

With the point of view I pay a lot for my service I wish to have the support I needed for my BB Z10 but do I get it? No !
And I believe when I said this for the Z10 community.. We need 10.1 update to address these glitches :
- Charger is not recognize by the phone with "ACK" blue color on it at the end of the notification.
- Messages read but still showed as unread in the hub
- Twitter keep loading up even after you delete it
- Constant Reboot by the device or when the best scenario happen, reboot randomly
Question : Why have not the 10.1 update been pushed yet? Let me guess the answer by the customer service or tech support : " It still on the development or testing" or " We do not have time period when the update will be pushed " . Ok but you guys been testing around the GS 4 and probably.. probably as the rumor I heard that you guys behind the schedule/timeline for the phone launch.. Is it because "Green Robot" and "Grey Fruit" more profitable to you guys then you guys decided to abandon other customer that did not support those 2 platform??

Verizon takes its own good time with updates. Why? Because they are the biggest cell provider and can get away with delays due to the shear number of customers. The other cell companies are not as huge as Verizon and besides like was said above there may not be that many people that bought a Blackberry Z10 could be a load of reasons. unless you call and complain how would anyone know?

Complain/feedback about subscription for Skype To ...

Dear Skype,
I think that you should allow your customers to buy as many subscriptions of any type, as many times they like, not limiting the purchase of one type of subscription to only one time per month/three month/a year period.
The other day I recognised that I run out of minutes from my monthly subscription after about 12 days from its renewal and decided to buy another one identical (120min). I bought it - I was charged for it - my purchase was delivered, but the minutes did not show up on my account. It took me hours of search into the community to understand that I cannot buy two identical subscriptions. That made me furious. And I felt even more upset to learn that the money I spent will, effectively, be used only to renew my useless subscription at the end of the billing month. I have asked for a refund.
So, these are my suggestions:
If you charge me now I should have the subscription minutes now, right? If you go to a coffee shop and pay for a coffee, you want it immediately, not in 2 weeks time. If you cannot provide me what you sell immediately, do not sell it. While I was buying the subscription you could have told me that I was not going to be able to access the minutes until the end of my current monthly subscription, or you could have just forbidden me from purchase it.
Instead, I have bought a subscription, and I have asked a refund. That's inefficient useless bureaucracy you can avoid easily! I could have saved my time too.
If I want to have two identical subscriptions, let me do it! The smaller subscription packages we buy, the higher the call/minute price will be. So it is even more convenient for Skype if we buy multiple subscriptions of the same type per month.

You should see a warning when you are about to purchase another subscription to a country you already own. This should be shown before you finalize the purchase. It should also include that if you continue with the purchase the minute duration wil be added at the end of the current subscriptions. Here's some example screenshots of what it should look like:

Is there a way to identify a thread you want to return to without tagging?
I will try to explain what I mean.
Let say someone asks a question and you are curious at what people may suggest as solutions. The interest could range from simple curiosity to "oh, I don't know how to do that, but would like to learn", or whatever reason that would cause someone to revisit a thread.
But the interest is weak enough that you do not want to subscribe to the discussion. And the topic is not something you want to tag because it is an unusual thread that is unlikely going to re-occur, and you are not sure if you will or will not revisit after a solution is posted or the discussion goes a certain way.
Another example is if the question is interesting, you do not want to mark it because there is no answer / solution yet and you are curious if anyone would ever provide a solution, so you do not want to tag it and a subscription would be useless if no one replies.
OR
Maybe it is a hot topic of the day / week and that's it.. You would not revisit at a later date.
But for the moment, you want to easily find it during the day or have a reminder that you want to revisit the thread ether in the near future or later when someone has provided an answer.
Is there an easy way to mark threads that you want to re-visit? Like a "todo" list, but rather a "to re-visit" list...

Delicious is a website wher you can store URL for later use/retrieval. For every link you add you can add some tags, a description, and you can share them with others.
I'm not using it for the use you have in mind, but it would be an idea. I have set up a special Mouse Gesture in Firefox that creates a delicious entry for the current page.
I use delicious heavily when I am looking on the internet for a solution to a specific problem, what happens during such a search is that you see 20-30 pages that look promising but only 3 are actually on topic. Sometimes it turns out one of the 'not so good pages' are actually googd pages, but 3 days later you don't know exactly the search term you used, or you are on another PC and it's hard to trace back your steps on the WWW. So by using Delicious I can easily create a list of pages on a particular topic.

Blocking all MAC addresses except for the ones you allow

I have a Cisco Aironet 1200 Access Point. I want to block all MAC addresses from accessing the access point, except for the ones I've allowed. First I went to the Address Filters page and clicked on Allowed, then listed all the MAC address I want to be able to access the access point. Then I went to the Ethernet Advanced page, and set the Default Multicast Address Filter to Disallowed, and the Default Unicast Address Filter to Disallowed. Then I went to the AP Radio: Internal Advanced page, clicked on the Advanced Primary SSID Setup link, and set the Default Unicast Address Filter to Disallowed. Accept Authentication Type is set to Open with Shared and Network-EAP cleared, and the Require EAP check boxes are all cleared.
When using a computer whose MAC address is not listed on the Address Filters page, I am still able to connect to the network through the access point. I am also able to connect to the access point from any pc on my network by entering its IP address in Internet Explorer.
What do I need to do to block any pc without a listed MAC address from connecting to the access point?

Follow these steps to create a MAC address filter:
Step 1 Follow the link path to the Address Filters page.
Step 2 Type a destination MAC address in the New MAC Address Filter: Dest
MAC Address field. You can type the address with colons separating the character pairs
(00:40:96:12:34:56, for example) or without any intervening characters (004096123456, for example).
Note If you plan to disallow traffic to all MAC addresses except
those you specify as allowed, put your own MAC address in the list of allowed MAC
addresses. If you plan to disallow multicast traffic, add the broadcast MAC address
(ffffffffffff) to the list of allowed addresses.
Step 3 Click Allowed to pass traffic to the MAC address or click Disallowed
to discard traffic to the MAC address.
Step 4 Click Add. The MAC address appears in the Existing MAC Address
Filters list. To remove the MAC address from the list, select it and click Remove.
Step 5 Click OK. You return automatically to the Setup page.
Step 6 Click Advanced in the AP Radio row of the Network Ports section at
the bottom of the Setup page for the radio you want to configure. The AP Radio Advanced page appears.

You want ideas for skype? Alright, here are some.

According to "Claudius", in http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Wanted-Your-Skype-for-Windows-Desktop-ideas/td-.... We should be giving our ideas. Well, I have a few, after updating to 6.22, even more so.
Idea 1. Stop taking advice from Microsoft to make skype an even more ugly pile of .... Well, you know. No one wants their desktop skype to look like it was ported from a phone. Seriously, I don't know if I can continue using skype anymore. I'm gonna have to convince my 200+ contacts to start using something else, which won't be hard once they all update to 6.22. You've made it even easier for me to get people away from skype. Thank you.
Idea 2. Bring back skypekit.exe, or at least bring back something that external messengers like Trillian and Pidgin can use to connect to the skype service again. I used Trillian to connect to skype for years, because unlike Skype, Trillian has always provided a number of customizable views and options for chatting with friends. I was able to change my window color, background and all, I was able to keep my windows seperated, or tabbed, I was able to organize people into specific groups to easily keep track of who I met where. Now, all I have is this big long ugly list of contacts that can't be sorted or anything, and my window is one big solid color of white with the uglyness of Windows 8. I can't even change my text fields back so they don't appear in bubbles anymore.
Idea 3. Add a "feedback" button to the client of all skype clients, so we can provide feedback about each new update or report problems without ever having to go to this community.
Idea 4. Actually participate in the community, stop saying you want ideas when you aren't around to read them or care what any of us have to say. I doubt you've ever actually considered anything anyone has ever suggested here. All you do is get your orders from Microsoft now, which is basically "How can we ruin skype further? Oh I know. Make the skype devs do this. Cause we own them now. HA HA HA HAAAA"
Idea 5. Add an un update button! This is especially useful when you make a flop as bad as 6.22, so now I have to go find an external source to get 6.21 back. Also log the amount of people that use the un-update button. Then maybe you'll figure out what you did wrong and you know. NOT DO IT AGAIN.
Seriously, I feel like Skype has abandon PC users. They don't care about computers anymore, seems like they only want to develop for phones now and thus they canceled skypekit.exe for no reason whatsoever, and changed skype into a phone only thing with a desktop port. It's worse than those console ports where a game is ported to PC directly from console. Will any skype devs see this? Probably not. Too busy finding the next thing in skype to destroy. Oh, destroy share screens next! Or perhaps you should destroy video calls. Then you should destroy the ability to connect so we can finally get everyone away from skype to someone who'll actually listen to the people and not to the big marketing team that claims to know what people want but doesn't actually have any ----ing clue (Microsoft)!

I am very disappointed in you skype devs, for letting Microsoft buy you so they could ditch their old crappy messenger that no one wanted anymore, just so they could do the same thing to skype. After they finish sucking the life out of skype, they'll go buy some other poor defenseless messenger to destroy.

The old *#7370# code is a soft reset.
The usual key combination for a hard reset, '3', '*' and 'call' pressed while powering up, is not possible since there is no '3' or '*' key on the 5800XM (touchscreen phone).

All my Windows operating Systems are set to use the UI Culture: German
With Update-Help or Save-Help you can download PowerShell help in different (any) language by use of the –UICulture parameter.
Update-Help –UICulture en-US
Because my Windows OS is set to use the German UI Culture and the Cmdlet Get-Help depends on it, I cannot access PowerShell help in a different Language (English) with Get-Help.
There is still no translated German PowerShell help and even if I have installed the en-US verbose Help files I cannot use it (easily)!
I made a suggestion on Microsoft Connect to add the –UICulture Parameter to the Get-Help Cmdlet, to make it possible to call Help in a different language then the Windows Ui Culture.
As a workaround until then you can use the .NET Class [System.Threading.Thread]::CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture to set the UI Culture and get Help in a different language.

So you want to change your primary mail but can't get past the password question?

Claudius,either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. What caused you to get the impression that I was writing something else? furthermore this sentence - "The solution you described in your initial message isn't actually once since all the time you were operating on different account that weren't actually linked" does not make sense, I think you mis-edited it.and I need to point out that you are incorrect. I WAS NOT OPERATING ON DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS I WAS OPERATING ON ONE SKYPE ACCOUNT, THAT WAS CREATED USING A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT just like you say you recommend. Hi!I ran into the same problem as a lot of other people seem to have done. I am changing ISP and because of that I have to change my mail address from my 10 year old [e-mail removed for privacy and security] to something else, this time I choose to use an outlook.com address in the hope that I will be able to keep that a bit longer. last week I realized that my skype account had my old expiring address as the primary mail, and that the primary mail was the only mail that skype will use for communication with me - I already had 2 other mail addresses in my skype profile (outlook.com and gmail). The skype account was created last summer using my microsoft account, and the microsoft account is the only means I have for accessing the skype account. So I logged on and opended the profile page, went on to edit the info and marked my outlook mail as the primary, clicked save and got the password question. I entered the password I use for logging on (ie the microsoft account password), but was told that the password was wrong. I tried everything and some more things, I spent 40-50 minutes on a text chat with skype support, only to be told that it can't be done and that the skype account was hard tied to the mail address I had used when creating the account, which I found very strange as I had used my microsoft account. yes, when I created the skype account, the only mail I had connected to the microsoft account was my "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]" mail, but I have since then, without any problems, been able to create an outlook.com address, and have that added, added a gmail account, set the outlook.com as the primary for the microsoft account and remove the "[e-mail removed for privacy and security]" address from the microsoft account. no problem.The problem is actually worse as the mail account will be free for use after april 1, which means that a person claiming that mail address will risk getting extremely confusing mails regarding a skype account they don't have, they will have difficulties creating a skype account of their own, AND they can take over my skype account (as they are the owners of the mail address) and I won't be able to stop them. It is the password for this "hidden" account you have to enter when you want to change the primary password It turns out that I was also unable to connect my facebook account to my skype account for the very same reason, but here it was more obvious, as I had to enter my skype username and passwor when connecting the accounts, and the microsoft account wasn't accepted there . so what do you need to do? well - those of you who have a smart tv (or some other device) that can't log on to skype using a microsoft account, have already done the work (provided you use that tv/device with skype) you log on to skype and open the account settings page, on the line below "microsoft account [email protected] unlink change microsoft password" you'll see a line saying "TV or Device" or something similar (I have no idea what the english text is) here you have a link you can click on where you will be prompted to enter the password for your "live:username" account. once you have done that you get instructions saying that for smart TVs etc, you enter "live:username" as the skye user and the newly created password as your password.The good news is that you now have 1) the identity of your skype user ("live:" and your name where the user name is the combined string "live:username" which in my case was "live:myname"); and 2) a password that is valid for your skype account. what I did next was open up the profile page, edit the profile, mark the outlook.com mail address asthe primary, click save and when prompted for the password, I entered the password I set in the previous step, and that's it, I now had a new primary mail (I got the confirmation mai sent to the new mail address right after I updated the info in skype). I also successfully removed my soon defunct mail address from the mail address list in my skype account, and I then connected my facebook account to my skype account (using live:myname ase the username and my shiny new password). So at the moment I have three different methods available to me when logging in to skype:- my microsoft account- my skype user (live:myname)- my facebook account.the ONLY thing to be aware of is that the name of the microsoft account, as presented on the account settings page in skype, still is my old [e-mail removed for privacy and security] mail address NOTE that this is a presentation issue only, someone thought that it was a good idea to save the original name of the microsoft account in the skype database and use that for presentation. It is NOT used when logging on, when you log on it will use the UID of you rmicrosoft account. if it disturbs you, you can always disconnect you rmicrosoft account from your skype account and reconnect it, and you should see the current mail address associated with the microsoft account. (this is safe to do because you have at least one other method to log on ) I hope that skype will amend their FAQ with this info. I did enter into a second chat with skype support, explaining what I díd to resolve the problem they failed to solve. so there it at least 2 people at skype support who know how to resolve the problem. -cheers,Anders

I am changing ISP and because of that I have to change my mail address from my 10 year old [e-mail removed for privacy and security] to something else, this time I choose to use an outlook.com address in the hope that I will be able to keep that a bit longer.
last week I realized that my skype account had my old expiring address as the primary mail, and that the primary mail was the only mail that skype will use for communication with me - I already had 2 other mail addresses in my skype profile (outlook.com and gmail). The skype account was created last summer using my microsoft account, and the microsoft account is the only means I have for accessing the skype account. So I logged on and opended the profile page, went on to edit the info and marked my outlook mail as the primary, clicked save and got the password question. either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions.
I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.
I had to change the primary mail of that account.
I was told "no can do" by skype support.
I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).
Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address.
once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account.
What caused you to get the impression that I was writing something else?
furthermore this sentence - "The solution you described in your initial message isn't actually once since all the time you were operating on different account that weren't actually linked" does not make sense, I think you mis-edited it.
and I need to point out that you are incorrect. I WAS NOT OPERATING ON DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS I WAS OPERATING ON ONE SKYPE ACCOUNT, THAT WAS CREATED USING A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT just like you say you recommend. I still don't know how you can misread my initial entry like that.
If you have a better solution to my initial problem - changing the primary mail of a skype account created throuth either a microsoft account or a facebook account, Please write a sticky to explain how to do it, and please inform skype support that Yes it can be done, and this is the way it is done. So far my "lucky shot" seems to be the only way to do it.

"Sure you want to quit Skype?"

Every time I quit Skype, it asks me if I am "Sure you want to quit Skype?", and I always check the "Do not ask me again" box, and hit "Quit" (which quits Skype).
And every time I go to quit Skype on a different occasion, it still asks me if I am "Sure you want to quit Skype?", even tho' I'd specified that it "not ask me again".
If that "Do not ask me again" command doesn't work, why include it? It's been there for many versions. . .

I found the config.xml, and the <General> tag, but was unable to locate any <ConfirmQuit> key, even when using a "Find" feature in my text editor. I guess that's what's causing the problem!
Skype has updated itself many times, on this computer, so evidently that isn't correcting the error. Should I manually ADD the <ConfirmQuit>1</ConfirmQuit> key to the config.xml file?
(By the way: there seems to be something amiss with this community.skype.com/t5/forums/ page -- every time I hit "Preview", I lose the post! This has always happened on other occasions when I've replied here. )
