VPE on SRW2024

I need to test PVE using my existing SRW2024 to justify purchasing an SG300 version for a new application.
My main uplink is via "g1".
My current settings have all ports in the default (and only) VLAN.
On the Port Settings screen for "g2", I set PVE to "g1".
On the Port Settings screen for "g3", I set PVE to "g2".
All other ports have no PVE setting.
Results:
All other ports can talk to next hop connected to "g1".
Neither "g2" nor "g3" can talk to anybody, including the next hop connected to "g1".
They can't even talk to the switch.
Firmware version 1.2.2b
What I want to happen:
PCs on "g2" can not see PCs on "g3" (and the reverse), but they must talk out "g1" to get to the internet.
The doc just does not seem to indicate anything on using this feature.
Does PVE just not work on these boxes?

Hi David, I think I see the problem. It looks like your PVE groups are different.
On the Port Settings screen for "g2", I set PVE to "g1".
On the Port Settings screen for "g3", I set PVE to "g2".
How the PVE works is it maps a source port to a destination port to over write the forwarding table. The uplink port "protects" the source port.
You need to set the PVE for g3 to g1 if g1 is your common uplink port.

SRW2024 rebooting every 50 days

HELLO WORLD
We have two SRW2024 which has a strange behavior. both of them rebooting exactly every 50 days.we face everytime a short outage of the network traffic.

Is this a known issue? In the support section I found a firmware 1.2.2b. I cant find any release notes and I'm asking myself, if this FW version would solve this automated reboot?

Issue 1 - reboot every 50 days issue
- Based on the information that was provided it appears that you have a syslog server. Does the syslog server log every 50 days a startup syslog message (for example: %INIT-I-Startup: Cold Startup)?

SRW2024 - Forcing clients to use a specific IP address (based on port)

With the SRW2024 managed switch, is it possible to force a client computer connected to a port to use a specific IP address (for example 192.168.1.30) and if the client tries to configure any other address which is not 192.168.1.30, the traffic is dropped and they essentially cannot access any LAN or internet resources?
Basically what I would like to do is associate an IP address with every port on the switch. It sounds like this would be possible using the IP based access control feature, however I wanted to confirm.

Well, I have contacted three different stores asking which hardware version they have in stock, (even providing instructions on how they can check)... Two of the three stores said they didn’t know what I was talking about and couldn’t check it for me, and the third one actually told me to contact Linksys and ask them... as if Linksys is supposed to know which hardware version their store carries!
So I guess I will have to ask once more if anyone here knows how long hardware version 1.2 (for srw2024) has been out?

802.1x with Switch SRW2024-Web

Hi@all,
i want to implement a port based NAC with Windows Server 2008 NPS acting as RADIUS and some Linksys/Cisco SRW2024 - WebView Switches, using EAPoL and MD5-Auth.

I am able to authenticate any Supplicant and open the port on the switch. But i've a probem with de VLAN-ID.
I only wan't to authenticate the user on the Switch-Port. All incoming traffic is unttaged an the Switch should tag the frames with configured PVID in Access Mode. But the switch doesn't either tag with configured PVID nor tag with the RADIUS-attributs:
Tunnel-Type -> VLAN
Tunnel-Medium-Type -> 802
Tunnel-Privat-Group-ID -> <VLAN-ID>
anyone an idea, what i'm doing wrong?

Well, i don't understand the world anymore....after the switch was accepting the radius-attributes,
i removed the radius-attributes again...since that, the configured PVID in access-mode are working also.
sometimes these switches driving me crazy.

How to reset System Password on SRW2024

I have very limited knowledge in the area of switches... but strong expertise with computers in general.
Our SRW2024 switches were configured several years back, and somewhere along the way someone set and lost the passwords.
How does one go about resetting the passwords?

Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.

How to export to .vpe from photoshop CS 6 to after effect

In photoshop CS6, I can't find the option export to ".vpe" where it used to be in the vanishing point upper left corner. There is nothing now ! Where can i find it now please ? Thanks in advance !

This stuff hasn't changed from CS5 to CS6, so I'm not sure what you are asking.

Problem importing .vpe into After Effects CC 2014

I am having Issues importing .vpe files exported from Photoshop CC 2014 (2014.1.0 - most recent update to date) into After Effects CC 2014 (13.0.2.3 - latest update to date) on Mac OSX Mavericks 10.9.4. After a (lengthy) couple of chats to Adobe customer support I was advised to update both programs to fix my original issue outlined in this thread VPE issue and this has half way fixed my issues (The export from Photoshop now works properly).
The problem I have now is that when importing the .vpe file to After Effects I get an error:
"Unable to execute script at line 107. Function newLayer.transform[sel].setValue is undefined".
The process creates a composition and a folder which is meant to contain the .png's. Inside the composition, the one imported .png is present, but no parent or camera layers.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is the bug present on Windows? Does anyone know if this will be fixed in the update forthcoming? It isn't listed as one of the stand out bug fixes.

We're getting kinda tired of the Beta nature of the CC suite here in my department at work. Our internet speeds are currently not great and so having to download so many updates is a bit of an issue. Is there any other way to download updates remotely? That is to say on a different machine than the install of After Effects? Could I perhaps download update files at home, put them on a USB drive and bring them in?

Setup 3 subnets across fiber to new IDF (SRW2048) from MDF (existing SRW2024, SRW2024, SRW 2048)

Hello. First of all, please forgive my lack of knowledge as I am trying to seek the assistance of those who can help a fellow 'Go to IT Guy' at work.
I have three subnets that im trying to push to our new idf closet which we had built to acommodate these subnets (1=workstation 10.51.x.x, 2=wireless 10.50.x.x (WS2000, 6x AP300 motorola/symbol, and 3=production servers 10.60.x.x used for testing units (putting units into test).
We ran a 400ft 12 strand fiber armored with 4 term'd (i think its 3). but so far i have one (tx/rx) being used for our motorola/symbol ws2000 & ap300 accessports and our sec dvr camera system.
instead of purchasing an extra two switches for the idf closet and also purchasing an additional 4 mgbsx1 (2 per subnet? (10.51.x.x ) (10.60.x.x)), could it be possible to setup a vlan configuration for this? If so, how would i go about in doing this?
I kinda get the idea of setting the or a port to a specific vlan but just not sure how will this work across a single pair of fiber (rx/tx) from the mdf closet to a single unit switch (srw2048) in the idf closet and split the 3subnets (as an example: ports 1-8= vlan 1 (10.51.x.x) , ports 8-16 = vlan2 (10.50.x.x) , ports 17-47 = vlan 3 (10.60..x.x) )
mdf switches:

10.50.x.x / SRW2048
10.60.x.x / SRW2024
idf switch(es):

To carry multiple VLANs across a single LAN you use 802.1q tagged ethernet frames. On the SRW you would configure the connecting ports into trunk mode. Then you add all necessary VLANs which are supposed to cross through that link to the port. (If you only have a few VLANs and it varies where you need which VLAN exactly you can simply add all your existing VLANs to the trunk mode port).
On a trunk port all VLANs are tagged except the default management ("native") VLAN which remains untagged. With this setup both ends know to which VLAN any particular ethernet frames belongs to: all untagged frames (i.e. standard ethernet frames) belong to the default VLAN and all other frames are 802.1q tagged with the VLAN id. This way, both ends can run all VLANs and still keep traffic separated.
Of course, please keep in mind that the SRWs are only level 2 switches. Routing between different VLANs and between VLANs and other networks (i.e. the internet) must be handled on other devices. You cannot connect multiple VLANs to a non 802.1q VLAN router. If you need routing, you either need a 802.1q capable router or L3 switch or you need multiple routers and run separate cables for each VLAN to different routers.

WAP4410N stops responding with SRW2024

I have the same problem with my two WAP4410N connected to my Cisco SRW2024 Gigabit switch.
It appears that there would be a time where the PHY's between the WAP and the switch are hung.
The lights on the Gigabit switch are constantly flashing.
It is until I disconnect and reconnect the network cable between the WAP and the Gigabit switch
that the problem is momentarily solved. Then it seems like another high traffic usage of the
WAP will cause the connection to hang. This solutions is totally unacceptable as I am not
willing to open my wiring closet every time to fix this hang. Also I've lost precious data
between my client and server because of this hang!
I don't think the problem is with the Gigabit switch as I have other Gigabit devices connected
to it and I never get them to hang like the WAP.
I saw on the release notes (although the firmware has not been posted) that there is a problem
with the WAP Gigabit PHY. From the release notes, it seems the firmware will have an
option to take down the speed of the WAP Gigabit PHY from 1000BT to 100TX.
This would be a shame if this is the final solution as one main reason for purchasing the
WAP4410N is its Gigabit capability.
Being a networking PHY designer who had also worked on other Cisco products, I'm surprise
that this problem had not been resolved in their qualification and interoperability lab.
They should have been able to identify this problem quickly and provide the right fix.
Cisco please help!

I was made aware of this issue and the work around of setting copper port seed to 100 meg, just before X-mas.
(please note: the work around will not advertise 1000M options).
I didn't even question, if this would be fixed.
I also have, to coin a expression, have my fingers crossed that the 'fix' will be expedient, but i have no date.
We both should check this community site to see if someone has already posed any extra information regarding this issue.

Please elaborate your inquiry, I believe that there's no exact port binding features from this switch. Please correct me if I am wrong about this. But if you want Port Mirroring or Port Trunking you can just visit www.linksysbycisco.com/kb for more information about it.

I dont' see any way to import .vpe into Motion; no way for Motion to understand it. According to the continued thread, I think the creator used the separate AE files, exported form AE, for each surface of the box in Motion.

and few users accessing network and internet thro that switch , when i try to make ACL Mac-based to deny requests from certian MAC address and bind it with the dsl port, rule is applying on all users not only the one i made rule for
how could i set rules without effecting on the other users!!
i want disallow certain users only

VLAN on SRW2024 help

Hi there,
here's my setup and what i want to do.
I want to have 2 networks on my SRW2024 :
192.168.18.0
192.168.17.0
servers will have 2 NIC (1 on .17 and the other one on .18)
The .17 networks will only serve to backup data.
I'll put the .18 network on the default vlan (vlan1) and create another vlan for network .17
I know how to create the vlan 2 but where i'm not sure it's how I tell him : port 13-24 goes to VLAN 2 and port 1-12 goes to VLAN 1
is it in Ports to vlan tab??
Do I need to do anything in Ports settings?
What's the difference betweek : Access - General - Trunk ?

Access mode: the switch port sends and receives only untagged (standard) ethernet frames. All frames belong to a single VLAN. You can only assign a single VLAN to a port in access mode.
Trunk mode: the port uses one VLAN untagged and all other VLANs 802.1q tagged. Usually, it's the default VLAN which is untagged. You make the port member of all VLANs you want to use on that port.
General mode: allows you to define any combination of tagged and untagged VLANs. It is usually not necessary to use this mode. Avoid it if possible.
As your servers have two NICs and you want to use a single VLAN on each switch port only, you have to configure all ports in access mode. Make ports 1-12 member of VLAN1 and port 13-24 member of VLAN2.
You have to alternative how to define membership: either you assign port membership for each VLAN (i.e. you choose a VLAN and then configure which of your 24 ports is member of that VLAN) or you assign VLAN membership for each port (i.e. you choose the port to configure first and then add/remove VLANs to that port). You can use either alternative, the only difference is the amount of work you have to do. In your case, it is better to use the first alternative as it allows you to change membership of ports 13-24 to VLAN 2 very quickly.
Of course, if your server has NICs which can be configured for 802.1q and teaming you are able to join both NICs together and connect them like a single logical connection to the switch. The link then has double bandwidth and the differentiation between VLANs is by 802.1q tags. To use teaming, it is usually necessary that both server ethernet ports are on a single interface card.
