VPN between 2 sites with dynamic IP
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie in CISCO systems but i'm actually excited to work these brand. I started working in a company and they assign me the task to find out if there is a possibility to stablish a VPN tunnel between to sites that are connected to Internet via ADSL modem and the ISP works with DHCP. I got two router CISCO 2811, with 2 FE, and an external ADSL modem. My 2 main questions are:
1)Is it possible to stablish the tunnel if I only have dynamic IPs?
2) Can I stablish a firewall policy with the IOS to allow only the traffic through the tunnel? Is that related with the no-splitting concept?
I appreciate every help and advise you can give me since I'm new with a lot a of these stuff, but i'm actually learning a lot. Fell free to ask me anything specific about my router configuration (which is really basic at the moment) or anything else you need to know to help me.
Gustavo
Thanks a lot for the advise. Don't worry I know these tasks are difficult, I'm actually studying for the CCNA certification, and I have until December to get these 100% working. As these are not concepts that you usually learn within the CCNA level, I'm doing my best reading a lot of the documentation in the site.
Actually I found something interesting that actualy might be my best solution: DMVPN. The topology managed in the company is a star topology and we have some static IPs provided by the ISP in the central. We have dynamic IP in each branch office, and we want to stablish a backup connection just like the one in the attacched file. Now my new questions are:
1) Is this configuration a better solution for my case, or can I handle it with traditional IPSec tunnels applying Dynamic DNS and Dynamic peer resolution in IPsec?
2)Is it possible to implement BGP on a DMVPN? I ask these because we actually have a BGP configured in the network.
Thanks for the advise.

I want to Establish a VPN connectivity between 2 sites using PPTP or L2TP with IPSEC with 1841 and 871 as well as want to allow WEB VPN so i can allow remote users from any where to enter in my network on my 1841 router plz suggest any configuration
Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) is not a standard tunneling protocol. Microsoft developed PPTP, which?like L2TP?tunnels Layer 2 PPP traffic over LANs or public networks.
PPTP creates client-initiated tunnels by encapsulating packets into IP datagrams for transmission over the Internet or other TCP/IP-based networks.n a VPN, the verification of peer identity using any combination of device authentication, data origin authentication, extended authentication, and data integrity checking.
In the context of AAA, entity authentication is the method of verifying user ID, including login and password, challenge and response, messaging support, and?depending on the security protocol that is selected?encryption. -
Exchange High availability between two sites with two servers
Hi Team,
I have a requirement to deploy exchange server 2010 between two sites. but i have limited resources to full fill this. below the summary.
2 servers in two sites
different subnets will user for two sites
Need to deploy DAG.
please let me know the considerations for this deployment.
Thank youHi - In this scenario, you would setup the following: Site 1: Exchange 2010 Multi-Role server File Share location to place File Share Witness for the DAG Site 2: Exchange 2010 Multi-Role server The above will give you 2 nodes in the primary location and
one node in the secondary location so that resources will stay in Site one. You will also need to enable DAC (Datacenter Activation Coordination) on the DAG so that the Cluster group can be managed by Exchange. Last but not least, you will want to restrict
automatic failover of resources to Site 2 by blocking that action on the Exchange server in Site 2 using 'Set-MailboxServer <servername> -DatabaseCopyAutoActivationPolicy Blocked' This will make you manually failover to site 2 and not end up with resources
there after a sudden failure or issue that is not impacting the entire site.Jason Apt Microsoft Certified Master | Exchange 2010 -
Copying SharePoint Site Page between SharePoint Sites with the MasterPage and Correct PageLayout
Hi All,
I have created a page in the following SharePoint Site Using a Custom SharePoint MasterPage and a Custom PageLayout.
https://devrussellportal.prod.ds.russell.com/sites/emeasandbox/Data-Governance/Pages/DataGovernanceHome.aspx
In this site I have a Page called 'DataGovernanceHome.aspx' in that site. I need to copy this page with the MasterPage and the PageLayout that I have used to build this Site Page to https://russellportal.prod.ds.russell.com/sites/datagovernance/ Site.
The old site is a sub site but the new site is not s sub site. But both them are Publishing Sites.
I was able to copy the MasterPage with all styles and images without any errors and applied successfully to the new site. I exported the desired page from the old SharePoint Site and imported to the new SharePoint Site via SPD. But when I tried to open the
page it gave me an error 'Sorry, something went wrong'.
I even edit the
<mso:PublishingPageLayout msdt:dt="string">https://russellportal.prod.ds.russell.com/sites/datagovernance/_catalogs/Russell SharePoint 3 Column.aspx, Russell SharePoint 3 Column </mso:PublishingPageLayout>
tag by updating the new SharePoint Site URL also. But did not solve the matter. So what is I am missing in here? Could someone help me to solve this matter?
Thanks and regards,
ChiranthakaHello,
In your "something went wrong screen" you should see a correlation ID
please run you SharePoint management Shell with this command
get-splogevent | ?{$_Correlation -eq "<GUID>" }| select Area, Category, Level, EventID, Message | Format-List
Replacing the <GUID> by the correlation ID and give us the result
Best regards, Christopher.

ChiranthakaHi,
Having moved the Master Page, Page Layout and other supporting branding assets successfully is a great first step.
So now you are attempting to move the content page. The content page itself is really a list item in the pages library. The aspects of a given content page are simply stored in site columns. When you copy the content page from one library to another using
SPD, I do not believe everything will transfer.
What you could try next is to open your source site in SPD. Navigate to the pages library and then detach your specific content page from its page layout (right click the content page to see this option). Now open this page in SPD to see all content.
Do the same thing in your destination site. First create a new content page in your destination site, then open SPD. Detach this content page from its page layout and now copy and paste the contents from source to destination. Save and see if the destination
content page loads. If it does, try reattaching the page layout on the destination site. As you noticed before, you may need to change a mso property to the new page layout location.
Another hiccup could be the specific web parts you added to the content page, but I can't say for sure. Possibly a webpart is attempting to access data it does not have access to?
All else fails, can you simply recreate the content page on the destination site from scratch, then copy content and add web parts in to effectively recreate the page by hand?

RV 120w VPN between 2 sites, does not work for IP phones
I have 2 vlans in my network, vlan1 for data and vlan 100 for voice, when I try to set one of the ports on either RV120w to vlan 100 so I can plug a phone on it, the whole router becames part of vlan 100, how can I make my router pass-trough vlans so I can use my ip phone?
Hi All, thanks for your responses; after a long technical discussion with tech-support, we have finally agreed there is a problem with my device. I am awaiting a replacement. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll let you know if the replacement works.
thanks again,

Site to Site VPN Between Two ASA 5505's Up But Not Passing Traffic
hello,
i am setting up a site to site vpn between two asa 5505's. the tunnel is up but i cannot get it to pass traffic and i have run out of ideas at this point. i am on site as i am posting this question and only have about 4 hours left to figure this out, so any help asap is greatly appreciated. i'll post the configs below along with the output of sh crypto isakmp sa and sh ipsec sa.
FYI the asa's are different versions, one is 9.2 the other is 8.2
Note: 1.1.1.1 = public ip for Site A 2.2.2.2 = public ip for site B

0x00000000 0x00000001Hi Keegan,
Your tunnel is up and encrypting traffic one way, the other end is not able to encrypt the traffic.
I would suggest to do a 'clear xlate'? Sometimes if you setup the nonat configuration after you've attempted other configurations, you need to 'clear xlate' before the previous NAT configuration is cleared and the new one works.

Hi, I'm trying to create Site-to-Site VPN between Cisco ASA 5505 and Cisco Router 3945.
I've tried create configuration with and without ASA wizard, but anyway it doesn't work.
Please help me to find where is the issue.
I have two sites and would like to get access from 192.168.83.0 to 192.168.17.0

I don't hve any NAT-exemptions in Cisco IOS Router. Transform-set I will change soon, but I've tried with tunnel mode and it didn't work.
Maybe NAT-exemptions is the issue. Can you advice me which exemptions should be in Cisco IOS Router?
Because on Cisco ASA I guess I have everything.

Site-to-Site VPN between ASA & PIX
Hi everyone,
If this has been posted before, which it probably has, I apologize in advance.
Basically, I have to configure a VPN between our NY ASA and a PIX we shipped to our LA office. The PIX is replacing an old Cisco router. The ASA is our main device which is configured for multiple VPN connections (and I have not touched this) and still has the old VPN config from that old Cisco router.
On my part, I configured the PIX with the same pre-share key, and security protocols as the old router. When I checked the log files of the ASA I see the error message: "tunnel manager has failed to establish an l2l sa all configured ike versions failed to establish the tunnel."
Since this is my first time setting up a PIX, I'm thinking there might be something the matter with my config, though I'm not exactly sure. The PIX config is as follows:

It would seem to me that you have not configured NAT0 for the VPN traffic
This in most cases matches exactly the ACL used in the Crypto Map configurations.
I suggest that you use another ACL for this purpose though to avoid any future problems
access-list NAT0 extended permit ip 192.168.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.0 192.168.5.0 255.255.255.0

nat (inside) 0 access-list NAT0
The below command seems to be useless since it doesnt have a match "global" configuration for ID 2
nat (Inside) 2 192.168.0.0 255.0.0.0

Change MTU for just one Site-to-Site VPN between ASAs?
Hi -
I'm setting up a Site-to-Site Cisco VPN between ASAs. I'm being told by the remote site engineer to set the maximum MTU at 1362.
Is it possible to set the MTU for one specific site-to-site VPN on my ASA 5510 Security Plus to MTU 1362? I see my interfeces are all set at 1500.
If not, would you recommend I setup a subinterface on my inside network router and a subinterface on the ASA with an MTU of 1362 to get around this issue? Then use this subinterface for traffic from my inside network to transverse through prior to hitting the VPN.
Thank you.I would not worry too much about UDP traffics. I rather concentrate on TCP traffics because almost all of the issues will be TCP.
Therefore, I would set the MSS value to 1362 or may be like 1300: sysopt connection tcp-mss 1300
That will solve most of your issues. -
Site to site vpn between RV215W and ASA5510
Hello,
We're trying to establish a site to site vpn between a RV215W (firmware version 1.0.0.16) and an ASA5510 (ASA 8.2(3)). The ASA currently has 5 other IPSec VPN tunnels running. It sure does look like I've dotted all my "i's" and crossed all my "t's" with respect to both sides of the tunnel. What I'm seeing from the 5510 is that there is some sort of communication between the two devices but there is no IPSec tunnel established and no traffic is getting beyond either device. It shows the RV215W connected but 0 bytes Tx and 0 bytes Rx.
From the RV215W side of things it shows an IPSec SA not established. The protocol is IKE and the encryption used is 3des. Both sides have the same preshare key and are using the same settings. From each device I can ping the public IP address of the other, but I get no further. I believe I have ACL's set up to allow traffic from both internal networks. (although I may not - I'm hardly a Cisco guru, just fumbling my way through this...)
Any guidance/direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!Hello,
I have found an article that may provide some assistance with your VPN. It has information on more advanced settings on VPNs for the RV215W. I hope that it may be of some use to you.

Hope it helps,
