VPN connection with Lion doesn't work
Hello,
I am using the System Preferences to connect to the VPN network of my university. It's a Cisco IPSec. But since the update to OS X Lion it doesn't work anymore. I did not change the preferences of the VPN so they are correct. I also deleted the VPN connection and re-enetered the VPN settings but it stil doesn't work. Yesterday I asked the people from the computation centre but they have also no clue.
Does anyone has a clue what to do?

Is your disk partitioned into more than just one mac partition and the bootcamp partition by any chance?
A second Mac partition?
This sympton is often caused by the Windows partition moving to be to be the 4th or higher partition, which it doesn't like for booting. Lion installs an extra partition - the recovery partition at the beginning of the drive and shuffles everything down one effectively, so if your bootcamp partition was the 3rd it becomes the 4th and Windows becomes unhappy about booting

I noticed that if_index is now in the dns resolver decription when scutil --dns is used for listing. This if_index refers to the physical network interface. Please don't. People absolutely detest those things. MacOS X includes perfectly good VPN clients that work far better than any proprietary VPN. Why don't you just change the server to work with what ships with MacOS X? -

I have all the correct credentials for my VPN network (vpn address, group name, shared secret). I always receive a server time out error.
I am able to successfully connect to my work VPN using the Cisco VPNClient. But unfortunately it only runs in 32-bit mode. I prefer to boot in 64-bit mode and would prefer not to reboot everytime I want to establish a VPN connection.
I have been working on this issues for three days straight and am getting nowhere. My work is an unsupported IT environment, and the IT support subscription service we use will not handle any Mac issues.Hmm, no changes. Still the same issue. I deleted the files described, rebooted and reconfigured the network.
hmm, Finder still remembers his old server connection settings, maybe i should delete those, too. Any idea where finder stores his server connections?
In my perception the message that no secure connection can be established comes up immediately after sending the connect command. I don't think that there is network traffic, there is no noticeable latency... -
Since upgrading, both our wireless printers are still visible, but OSX will not connect with them. Both work via connecting from other sources via the same wireless router (airport). What do I need to do to get my printing/scanning working again?
First thing to try is reset Printing System:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Next would be reset the router (power off 15 secs then back on). And, 2 minutes later, reset the printers 1 by 1. -
Application made with Automator doesn't work
An extremely simple app made with Automator fails with Lion athough it works fine in Snow Leopard.
I just use the action "New folder" to create a folder with some fixed name in "Desktop"
When I test it in Automator is does what it should.
When I save it as an Application and double click it, it does nothing.
Should be easily reproducible.I believe that I have solved this.
The problem did not go away by itself. After rebooting Automator apps either worked, or they did not work.
This was true for all automator-made apps, not just the one described above. Nothing do to with Desktop
or creating a folder there. Sometimes there was no problem after three successive reboots, then it came
back again. All automator-made apps were blocked on my account, but not on a second user account.
The origin of the problem is, apparently, that I used two Automator-made apps as a startup item on login.
This has always worked fine under Snow Leopard, but it seems that lion cannot handle that. I suspect some
kind of timing problem. The apps do seem to start a lot faster in lion, and perhaps they somehow get
into each others way and then block anything else.
Now I have combined the two apps into a single one, and the problem has not come back.
In that sense I consider it solved, but I would still like to know what is really going on. -

Unless you've been drinking a lot, which is what people are usually doing when they are playing Russian roulette. Your post was hard enough to decipher without that.
Anyway, my cropping was saved each time. I think there's something wrong with your Preview.app. Have you changed anything about the autosave functions of OSX?
I would try:
Boot into your recovery partition (restart, hold down ⌘R until you see the Apple logo), and use Disk Utility to repair your hard drive. Repair permissions too while you're there. OS X: About OS X Recovery
if that doesn't help, then I'd reinstall Mavericks over your current installation. -
Connection with PC Suite stopped working
Hi there,
Up until last week, PC Suite and my phone use to work perfectly. For some reason, i can no longer connect my phone (nokia e61i) and laptop anymore.
I have uninstall / re-installed PC suite without success
When I try ti pair my phone again, i go into the connection window, seach for a bluetooth connection, then in step 3 of 4 PC Suite show's a list of phone that i use to be connected to (before i had the problem). i cannot go any further in the connection setup process. I then tried to unpair my phone, and I get an error message 'cannot unpair phone'.
I really don't know what the problem is, but this is causing major problems for me as I use my phone calendar everyday and I can no loger sync with my laptop. Appreciate any assistance. Below are my specs:

AlexI have probably the same problem it was working fine, but some time in January 2009 it the connection with PC Suite ceased working. I have produced this error over cable as well as IR.
Version of Windows: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 2
Version of PC Suite: 7 1 18 0 eng web
Connection method: cable, and IR?
Phone: E61i
1. I connect the phone.
2. PC Suite says "Click here to connect a phone"
3. I click and the connection wizard opens
4. I select "Infrared"
5. PC Suite immediately opens new window that says "You have now the following connections available:
Nokia E61i IrDA"
6. I click the green button and return to PC Suite that still says "Click here to connect a phone"
7. If I click on synchronisation, the synch button is not enabled: I cannot synchronise or use any other application in PC Suite. But if I right click the IR symbol on windows and select "transfer files" then I can send a file to the phone.
Would really appreciate help on this.

Since upgrading to Lion on my iMac 21.5", once a week I lose bluetooth connectivity and have to reboot to get my keyboard and mouse to work.
Backup up your data from both, and as long as you used Bootcamp to install the Windows partition you should be fine.
If you used another method, or have more partitons on the drive than Bootcamp, DON'T upgrade to Lion, unless your prepared to rebuild the entire drive, install Lion from boot DVD's you make from the installer and so forth.
Google "Egg Freckles Lion boot DVD" for details also Google for "Make copies of Snow Leopard install disks"
Snow Leopard is stable, Lion has issues with older Mac hardware ranging from video to wifi to slow downs to radical UI changes.
With all the effort placed in setting up Windows and OS X, to do that all over again to take a chance that Lion won't work on your machine is a a lot of risk for little in return.
When Lion is stable then consider it, but right now it's not. -
VPN over a TC doesn't work with iOS 4 or iPad OS 3.2.2
MacBook, iPhone (1G, 3GS) and iPad are working fine with wifi and a Time Capsule. But there is a problem with newer OS (iOS 4, iPhone OS 3.2) and VPN (Cisco IPSec).
The VPN-connection is established (symbol in title-bar), but no systems within the firewall are reachable. IPhone 1G with iPhone OS 3.1.2 and VPN is working fine. The iPad also did, before upgrading to OS 3.2.
All systems do work fine with VPN via a Lancom access point. Seems that new OS won't work with an Apple Time Capsule any more. Update to 3.2.2 and 4.0.2 didn't help.
Are there any special security settings that have to be configured in a Time Capsule to connect via VPN/IPSec?

As written above: All my devices are working fast with Wi-Fi over my Time Capsule and without any problems when used without VPN. VPN works fine with all my devices via a LANCOM L-305 access point. VPN with first generation iPhone and OS 3.1 is also working fine via Time Capsule. iPad also did before upgrading to 3.2.
With the newest software versions iPhone and iPad cannot exchange data through a VPN-tunnel when connected to my Time Capsule. Looks like some new security features have been introduced.
Is there any document available, where a complete list of all changes from 3.1 to 3.2 can be found? -
Anyconnect SSL-VPN - DNS Lookups (external) doesn't work

I have issues with my SSL AnyConnect VPN setup on my ASA 5512-x. The VPN , split tunneling and NAT exempt is working fine and i can connect to internal hosts.
However, external or internal DNS requests doesn't work on the clients (Windows, Anyconnect). I want full split tunneling, ie DNS requests should not go through the VPN.
The DNS requests works through NSLOOKUP but not in ping and in any browser.
(The config, request more if i've omitted something important).

I gladly appreciate your help. Thank you.I don't have experience with the ssl client and vista, but I do use the new Anyconnect SSL client with vista. All you need to do is upgrade the ASA to version 8. Hope that helps.

I cannot establish VPN connection with rv120w to shrew soft client
1. I bought 2 rv120w router and install one direct to WAN and one behind router-hub.
2. one behind router is set DMZ, and each are conneted Site to Site vpn
3. I need to connect each site with my mobile devices(1 notebook, 2 Win8 tablets, 2 android devices )
4. i use wibro mobile router, win8 devices're behind router, and their fort is fowarded(DMZ)
5. I'll take care of Android devices later, here now, my trouble is Win8 devices
6. i installed cisco QuickVPN software. frankly,that software is shit. i don't know why but it even cannot reach router, no log generated on rv120w. and i dont want PPTP connection. sorry for criticism but I'm sure many of QuickVPN users(and people who fail to be a user) agree with me. it's 2014. not 1998.
Cisco should be shamed for that software. it looks like a second grade collage student's 2nd semester project(Many of them're batter nowadays.) and doesn't work.
more amazing fact is that's only software that RV series provides officialy. What the...so in conclusion, Cisco does not provide any IPSec client connection tool at all. does that makes any sense?

Wireless keyboard with Marvicks doesn't work properly
It's not easy to post this article due it's Marvicks (?) / Apple wireless keyboard problem.
Once I'm at home, I use my MBP like a desktop by connecting with Apple wireless keyboard/mouse. Works Great!
Since a while, I updated to Marvicks with great experience, but my wireless keyboard doesn't react on some uppercase keys. So, what I can do is: switch to caps-lock then type the missing key or type on MBP keyboard to get "T".
Look to here and you will find which uppercase letter doesn't work:
(use only with right-shift combination) aAbcCdDeEfFghHiIjJkKlLmMnNoOpPqQrRsStuUvVwWxXyYzZ.
(use only with left-shift combination) aAbBcCdDeEfFgGhHiIjJkKlLmMnNoOpPqQrRsStuUvVwWxXyYzZ.
Don't work letters/function:
(right-shift combination) B, G, T
(left-shift combination) T
"fn+delete"
Further, I have "Pinyin - Simplified" language installed. During Chinese input, I need switch to normal alphabet by activate "caps lock". This is an Easy and fast way to toggle between Chinese - English input. (much convinient than Language switch via mouse clicks).
My older OS (Leopard, S.L, Lion) works well, but Marvicks interpret differently. Once "caps lock" and I navigate with cursor keys, sometime it convert my typing into e.g.: "\[34334" (this is not the exactly right sample, due I can't simulate this at this moment), something like that. It looks like the "Escape sequences"
This is frustrating when I write my document without looking to the display regularly.

Why don't you use the MBP's internal keyboard? Does it also not work right?
Have you tried another external keyboard? If not, you should do that. If it works OK, then you need to replace the one causing all this trouble. -
Using Juniper Network Connect with Lion
Has anyone had an luck using Network Connect to connect to a Juniper VPN with Lion? When I try to connect to secure network using Safari, Network Connect does not install and launch.
What version of Juniper are you folks running? We are still on 6.x (I'll have to check on what X is, I think its 5)
I enabled the java "enable applet plug-in and web sstart applications" and it still gets stuck on our host checker screen. I set the developer Safari 5.0.6 and it actually gets past host checker, but does not present an option for network connect.
This tells me that host checker is running but no longer seeing what it needs to see (?) for the network connect option to be presented. I was told by Juniper that an update needs to happen but it won't be availble until September.
Can someone verify they can actually get a network connect session working using Lion and safari 5.1 and how they got it to work, and what version of Juniper they are on?
If we need to get to 7.x we can do it on a test box but moving production there will take a good long time. We *just* enabled the Mac VPN service at our company, and now those upgrading to Lion are finding themselves once again without VPN capabilities. This is a real problem as we don't control weather they upgrade or not, and everyone wants to get to the latest OS.
Juniper is on its last legs at our company. This is probably the straw... they should have had this tested by now.
