W541 screen quality

Hello, I'm facing low screen quality problem with my new W541 (FHD display). I had two W530 and the displays were always excellent, but this is not the case. No problem with the white, but if I move my head up and down or left and right, the colors of pictures change too much. I'm not talking about an angle 30° but simply moving the head... in the while I'm looking my old W530 with 45° angle... and is almost perfect. HW problem? Already "worked" with color calibration, no way to solve.ThanksAlberto

unfortunately I'm understanding it! as per your knowledge, do you know if the W530 panel is compatible with W541? as I said, I've my two old W530 available...in the while I'm trying to understand where to buy (and at which price) the IPS screen, any suggestion (excluding chinese site...)?thanks again

  • Macbook air screen quality

Hi guys, just purchased a macbook air, was going to get the macbook pro as i won't really be taking it out the house much, not really a high flying businessmen kinda guy, just work as a scaffolder lol.
Reason I bought the Air was it suited my needs perfectly, all I do is browse the web, and watch video. Don't really play games on it, and don't really use it as a music machine (My 27" Imac fills that role) now my only concern is as the title says, the screen quality on the display.
Now I am not savvy in the tech world, but from what I could tell when I was comparing the two with the apple guys (Their stores are very helpful) the only thing I noticed that caught my eye was the screen quality and brightness on the macbook pro. The screen looked alot brighter, and the images looked more crisp, I know the macbook pro has glass protection covering the screen, but is the display it self different to the Mac book airs?
Its not a deal braker for me, I love my macbook air 13" (I bought the top of the line model) its extremely quick, it looks the part and its extremely light for when I do want to either take it upstairs or vice veser or take it in the backgarden on a nice hot summers day, but I just feel a bit gutted that it didn't look as bright as the macbook pro considering that I was debating over the two.
Whats up with it then guys? Is it just my eyes, or are the screens actually different, and also with it not being protected by glass should i be worried about damaging the screen? Iv noticed when I got to clean it with a soft cloth, the screen ripples, makes me a bit on edge about damaging it : P
    Thanks guys.

This is the worst the MacBook has to show from being dropped on to a concrete floor from my table.
Trust me it is very strong, least thing you need to worry about

  • Setting default screen quality to "High"

    Captivate v5.5
I am recording some screen shots from our corp. website to slides created in Captivate v5.5. I have set all the slides in Captivate with screen quality "High" yet all the slides I import after recording have screen quality "low".
I know I can change them but wonder is there a way to set the fault screen quality to "high" so all new slides added are "high" quality - or whatever I want them to be rather than having to keep changing them.
    Noel

    Thank you Anjaneai and Lilybiri,
So the way it works at the moment is this. When you create a project each slide you add will always be set to "low" quality and there is no way to change this in preferences or global settings.
When you preview you work it will be based on "low" quality slides unless you change them one by one as you import them.
Once you have finished the creation of your project and publish it, provided you have made the required changes in Project Settings - all slides that were "low" will be changed to the required quality setting as per the project settings in preferences.
When you open the project again - to edit it for example, I assume the slide quality is still "low".
I agree with you Lilybiri - Slide Quality should be an option in Preferences and the default settings should be "Optimised".
    Thanks again both.

  • Screen Quality? 100's of colors vs 1000's of colors.

My ipod screen quality dropped tremendously overnight while charging. It appears as if the screen is fogged over or the colors are dimmed down. When I watch videos it as if someone turned down the color count from 1000's down to 100's. I have reset all the settings and done everything I can, all I have left to do is a hard reset which I will do very last.
    Any suggestions?

  • Unable to change screen quality when accessing Window machine FROM my Mac

    Hi there,
I've been playing around with a copy of Apple Remote Desktop 3.1 and I'm very happy with the results when connecting to a Mac Server from my MacBook. We have quite a slow line so I use the sceen adjuster on the top-right corner of the screen to make the remote screen black & white to speed up the connection. I have another server here which is Windows server running RealVNC. When I connect to that machine and try changing the screen quality to black & white, it does nothing Can anyone change the screen quality when connect to a Windows machine from a Mac running Remote Desktop? If so, could you tell me your setup please?

Go to System Preferences-->Display. Choose the biggest dimension there. The screen will turn blue and your display will change.

  • Macbook Pro 15 inch screen quality

Hey everyone , sorry if i'm killing this topic to death. Just wanted to know how good (or bad) the latest macbook pro 15 inch core 2 duo's screen quality is. I'm movin from my 17 inch c2d imac and i really dont want to wait for the LATEST leopard release in october. I know there's rumors of new LED backlighting but thats even more tentative than leopard! So any input about the current MBP's would be great, thanks!

I say go for it,uneven illumination and all those flaws are not obvious when brightness is set to full.
I am currently using the matte screen, but you can go for the glossy screen since its quality is your primary concern.

  • IPhone 6 screen quality worse than 4S?

My wife and I got our iPhone 6's a few days ago and I noticed that the screen quality on either is not as good as that of our previous iPhone 4S'. What I can only describe as a uniform netting/screen door/pixel grid pattern is easily visible over the entire screen from 8 inches away and worse closer up. It makes everything seem blurrier and colors not as solid. It is most pronounced when viewing a lot of white/grey/light colors (Settings, Mail, etc) and seems to be worsened when viewing slightly off-angle. I thought the Retina Display "PPI" remained the same as the smaller 4S/5S iPhone screens, so it can't be a resolution issue. Did we both get junk screens? Do good ones exist? Nobody else seems to be posting about this issue.
I'm really getting tired of every new Apple product launch having some sort of Achilles heel that has to be corrected by swapping hardware until one worthy of the price paid is obtained. Is this another case of that? Do you see this on your new phone as well? Most people probably won't even notice or care, I understand. But is this seriously the screen that we all get and have to live with? Like the hollow/plasticky iPad Air screen? It's supposed to be better, right? Should I bother going through the exchange gauntlet? Has anybody else done so?
So... has anyone else noticed this, and is it bothering you as much as me? I can't enjoy this expensive new phone knowing I can constantly see what I consider a major downgrade from my old phone.

Personally, I find the screen resolution on both our iPhone 6, to be a step above our iPhone 5.  So, I'm not seeing what you're seeing, that's for sure.

  • Screen quality

Don`t have a ZiiO yet so would like to know your opinion about the screen. I`m sure the sound quality of the device will be great, and that is one huge pro to get it, but the screen should be nice as well.
    I don`t mind too much about the screen not being capaciti've, what is more important to me;
-does it have nice contrast, meaning deep blacks with enough details in shadows and good clarity?
-viewing angles, does it still look fine if you`re not sitting right in front of it's
-colours, are they washed out or nicely saturated?
Can contrast, brightness and saturation be adjusted in the settings?
Can`t find any info on this on the web...

Re: screen qualitySThanks for the reply,? so the viewing angles are fine for a TFT screen. Very dark grey is fine with me too, but what are HD quality colours? HD is about resolution... I would like to know if the colours are realistic and well defined. With 6,8 mill colors shouldn`t that be possible?
I use an Eizo pva monitor with 6,8 mill colors and it shows a very realistic image. I know this device is half the price of that Eizo monitor but still would like to know if it doesn`t tend to be too blue, green or red. Looking at all the youtube videos about the ZiiO I get a feeling it has weak reds, but maybe those recordings are made with wrong whitebalance setting? It`s great that it has a HDMI output, but the tablet itself should also provide a decent image.
Think I will have to go to a store to check out anyway...

  • LG Screen Quality

    Hi,
I have noticed recently that compared to other MacBook Air screens mine looks very flat and washed out - colours aren't very strong.
Looking online I see it has been widely discussed that there are two different screen manufacturers being Samsung and LG. I have an LP116WH4-TJA3.
I tried adjusting the color profile to the one here http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/30/how-to-check-for-an-lg-display-in-a-macbook-air-a nd-make-it-look-better/ which made a noticeable difference to the colours but white/black is still the same. The original looked awful after realising the difference.
Am I eligible to have it replaced by Apple? I am still within the 1 year warranty period.
    Has anyone else been successful?

If you are within the 14 day return period, no problem.
Otherwise, it is like this.....  Apple second sources many components. It's just smart business. As a manufacturer, you don't want to have to rely on just one source, in case a disruption with that one source were to occurr. Apple sets a quality standard for each component, for which suppliers must comply if they wish to remain a supplier of that component. However, Apple does not force anyone to refrain from exceeding that standard. And since no two manufacturers are producing the same identical components witn the same process, and the same employees, some variation is also inevitable.
If your display does not meet the established standard, then you have a reason to expect that Apple will provide a remedy under warranty. However, if it meets the standard, but a single component may not be from the vendor you prefer, then Apple would be perfectly justified to ask you to be in the same boat as the rest of us. That boat is that we all have computers that meet or exceed the standards, without guarantee that it will exceed it maximally on each and every component.
My display is the same as yours. On the other hand, my SSD is from the vendor I would have preferred. I examined my purchase and decided within the 14 day return window my product met MY minimum standard, and have accepted it. I think you might consider the same.
Had you not "noticed recently", you would never have been the wiser. When the next edition comes out, and I "notice" it is better than mine, I may decide to sell mine and buy the newer one. Would I demand that Apple do something special for me? No.

  • 2G iPod nano screen quality

I bought a 2G nano for my daughter from the Apple web site. I noticed that the screen is slightly crooked within the case. I don't know how common this problem is, but it seems like a quality control issue. I had the nano engraved, so I can't exchange it at a local Apple store, and I'm hesitant to exchange a new iPod for a potentially refurbished one through the mail and end up with the same issue anyway. Have many people noticed the same flaw in the new nanos? I did not have this problem with my 5G iPod video 80GB.
I also noticed that the menu lettering is kind of blurry, but photos are clear. I guess that is just the nature of the screen resolution of the nano.

I didn't think the local Apple store could do anything because it's engraved, but I called them after reading your response. They will exchange it with a new one in-store if I don't care about having it engraved again. I think it is more important to have a "perfect" one to give to my daughter for Christmas rather than having it engraved, so I'm going to take it back tomorrow. I want to be able to inspect the new one instead of hoping a replacement is in good shape! Thanks for the advice!

  • 1.33MHZ vs. 1.5MHz screen quality?

I am hoping to get a new 12-inch PB next month and I have read some complaints about the quality of the screens (poor viewing angle, low sharpness etc.). So, I was wondering if there is any marked improvement in the latest revision (1.5 MHz). Has anyone had an opportunity to directly compare the screen in the latest 12-inch model with the previous 1.33MHz model, or earlier versions? How do the screens compare?

I don't think Apple will change to XBrite LCDs for two reasons
I'm not necessarily suggesting Apple upgrades to XBrite displays, but they can certainly upgrade to something better. Especially in the 12-inch PB, which is the runt of the PB litter in display quality.
As for power, I agree that Apple shouldn't do anything to reduce battery life, but they might not have to. Who's to say the next generation of better displays will use any more power than the last? Technology marches on. And Apple's move to Intel (most likely Yonah CPUs in the PBs) should save power, which can drive a better dispaly. Users can always turn down the brightness to extend batter life.
In short, I think there's no technological reason for Apple to not upgrade the PowerBook displays, though I am not pushing any particular technology.

  • Macbook Pro Screen Quality

I upgraded my notebook from an ibook G4 to a Macbook Pro last August. I have been an apple user for more than 5 years now and love my macbook but recently I noticed a small, superbright pixel on the bottem left side of my screen. I just noticed this because I have had a solid black background and recently changed to a grey background which made it a lot more noticeable. I took it into the Genius Bar and the rep tried to tell me that I had done it myself. He said that it looks like a pressure mark. I told him in response that I never take my computer off my desk because I mainly use it for video editing and I have never seen anything like this before. It does not look like a pressure mark or a frozen or dead pixel but it looks like a white glowing eyelash. What do you guys think it is? I also have full apple care and I am surprised that his response was that it is physical damage. I have never dropped my computer or take it anywhere. It simpely sits on my desk like a desktop.

I have a similar problem on my new MBP 15" as well. I bought the notebook about three months ago and used the default wallpaper for a while. About three weeks ago, I changed my wallpaper to a lighter color and noticed a small, bright mark about halfway up a half inch from the right edge of the screen. I have taken this notebook out a couple times but baby it (I mean, it is a two THOUSAND dollar machine). I took it in once, before I noticed the mark for rattling due to a slightly loose hinge and warping edges. The genius told me to get a thick cloth to sit in between the screen and keyboard when the machine is closed. So, I'm sort of afraid to take it in for this (small) problem and get a similar answer - there's nothing we can do, or it's a pressure mark.
I have ramped up my Photoshop use lately and the mark is directly over the layers window, which is really annoying.
I think I will take it in tomorrow. If I get a different answer, I'll post back here. Sorry to hear you have a similar problem. It's annoying - especially after you first notice it.

  • Poor video/screen quality

Three days ago the screen resolution on my macbook pro 17" reduced dramatically. Prior to logging in the screen resolution appears okay, but once logged in the screen reverts to blotchy text and graphics.
Has anyone had this problem? What was to solution?

    Welcome to the Forums!
You are probably zoomed in. Go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing tab and turn off Zoom. If it's already off, hold down the ctrl key and drag two fingers down your trackpad (ctrl-scroll is another zoom method, separate from Universal Access).
Hope this helps, but if not, post back.

  • Screen Quality of 30" ACD

I have been looking at the 30" ACD recently, so I went to check it out. Somehow I got the impression that text appears a bit fuzzy / not very sharp and when running some demos next the white doesn't appear quite as white as on other displays (some smaller sized).
I checked the connection and the "fuzzy" one was directly connected to an Apple via DVI-D.
Is this something I have to expect from a that big? I have only ever used much smaller displays, so please forgive my ignorance.

Not sure about the fuzzy text. I've never used the 30" apple, so I don't know if that is an issue. And if I was to guess why it was fuzzy, I would need to know what resolution it was using and whether the text was in a game or on a webpage etc. I have the 20" ACD and the text is nice and crisp.
As for the white, the white gets whiter when you increase the brightness. Mine is white but dim. If I turn the brightness up, it goes very white, but it also gives me headaches because I'm squinting at my screen because it's too bright. So I suspect that screen you saw, just had it's brightness turned down a bit lower than the others.
White is generally very good on good LCD's. The blacks are usually more of a concern.

  • Poor screen quality from tutorials

As I'm still learning all the applications in Final Cut Studio I use the DVD tutorials but they are so out of focus it's very difficult to concentrate. Can I make adjustments in the DVD player or is that just the way they were made?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi mate
    > My laptop runs at 1440 x 900, which results in all applications showing text in very small characters.
    > If I change to 1280 x 720 to enlarge all fonts, the quality (resolution) is poor.
The notebook's display supports a native resolution of 1440 x 900 px. If you would use another resolution, then you would notice the mentioned display behavior. The quality would be poor because you dont use native resolution!
This is nothing unusual and it a case on all LCD/TFT displays.
    >Secondly, the Quickstart Toshiba guide implies there is a hotkey with a zoom utility (enlarge/ reduce) but it does not seem to be on my machine.
You can use the zooming utility in connection with Internet browser, MS word and some other applications!
I'm not quite sure what buttons you have to press but on my notebook the zooming utility works pressing FN + 1 or FN + 2
    Read the user manual!
