A quick look in our database and I THINK I found the answer for you.
I found a previous case where under rare circumstances an XML would become corrupted and solution was to run a script.
I'm actually not sure if I'm supposed to provide you with the script (there's always quite a few concerns with this), but I'm going to risk it.
However you can only run the script at your own risk and if it goes wrong please reimage the device.
Regarding CM and how devices are recongnized, forgive my inoreance but I believe it was in part mac address (or something else imprinted into device) of device, but can't remember for sure, nor have the time to look for it.

Marcin

  • WAE 512 and transaction logs problem

    Hi guys,
I have a WAE 512 with ACNS 5.5.1b7 and I'm not able to export archived logs correctly. I tried to configure the WAE as below:
    transaction-logs enable
    transaction-logs archive interval every-day at 23:00
    transaction-logs export enable
    transaction-logs export interval every-day at 23:30
    transaction-logs export ftp-server 10.253.8.125 cache **** .
and the WAE exported only one file of about 9 MB even if the files was stored on the WAE as you can see from the output:
    Transaction log configuration:
    Logging is enabled.
    End user identity is visible.
    File markers are disabled.

I made a test and I configured the archiveng every hour from 12:00 to 15:00 and the export at 15:10, the file trasnferred by the WAE was only three one of 12:00 the other of 13:00 and 14:00 the 15:00 has been missed.
    What can I do?
    Thx
    davide

    Hi Davide,
You seem to be missing the path on the FTP server; which goes on the export command.
Disable transaction logs, then remove the export command and then add it again like this: transaction-logs export ftp-server 10.253.8.125 cache **** / ; after that enable transaction logs again and test it.
Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

  • WAVE-274-K9 and WAE-512-K9 as CM ?

    1) Can the WAVE-274-K9 device be configured as a WAAS Central Manager off-the-shelf ?
    2) Same for WAE-512-K9 device ?
    regards,
    Geert

    Geert,
For the CM functionality in WAAS 4.1.x, you need the enterprise license installed, then you can configure the CM role on the device.
274 can support around 125 WAEs
    512-1GB can support 500 WAEs
    512-2GB can support 1000 WAEs.
    Hope that helps,
    Dan

    which will be the solution?

    Hi Udom
According to the output you provided, the software is not properly installed, either because it got somehow corrupted, or perhaps because the hard drives are not accessible
PD-WAE login: adminPassword: No directory /local/local1!Logging in with home = "/".System Initialization Finished.Disk based software not installed. Some applications may not run correctly!
Moving forward, the first thing to do would be reinstalling the software with the command "WAE# copy ftp install" if the file is stored remotely or "WAE# install " if the software image is already in the hard drive of the device.
    I hope this helps

  • WAAS - WAE-512-K9 - SATA2 250 GB Hard disk not detecting

We had installed new WAE-512-K9 having 2*SATA2 250GB Hard disk as edge box in one of the branch. But during configuration, we have notified that both the hard disks are not getting detected. Both the disks 00 & 01 are inserted in the respective slots as mentioned in the cisco document. Hard disk LEDs are glowing intially when the device boots up, but later there is no LED indication. Please help me in resolving this issue.

    Hi Tammy,
The only thing you need is - disk delete-data-partitions once the unit reboots after the memory upgrade. This command re-aligns the CIFS and DRE partition to match with 8GB memory. This command should retain the software and config on the device, only repartition the caching partitions. Not sure what may have went wrong but it seems like at this moment you may want to re-install image using copy ftp install command on WAE. Other than that, your disks look helthy.
    Regards.

  • WAAS Upgrade CM path from 4.4.7 WAE-512 to 5.4 vCM

I have a deployed WAAS system running 4.4.7 and the old WAE hardware is all on the EOL clock or not supporting 5.4 at all.   The budge fairies had money at the end of the year so I've got new WAVE boxes and vCM 5.4 DVDs to deploy.
My question is what is the upgrade process for the CMs?
Can I simply spin up  two 5.4 vCMs as a secondary CMs to the 4.4.7 primary CM on a WAE-512, then make one the primary?  That would assume that a 5.4 secondary could sync to and then take over directly from a 4.4.7 primary.  That's the bit that I have doubts about.
Or would I have to start with vCMs at 4.4.7 to get them to sync, then take over as primary and upgrade them?  Is there a 4.4.7 vCM image?
If that's a dead end, I saw another discussion about downgrading a WAVE-294.   I'm thinking one could be downgraded to 4.4.7, joined as a secondary CM, promoted to primary, and then upgraded as a stepping stone to vCMs at 5.4.  Then the '294 would be deployed back as accelerator as originally intended.  Any pitfalls with this?
Or is there a simpler path that I'm missing entirely?
Also can anyone confirm that the RJ-45 console ports on the WAVE-*94 have the same pin-out as traditional Cisco switch RJ-45 console ports?
    Thanks.

    Hi Edward,
For the upgrade process, you'll have to follow this procedure :
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/waas/v541/release/note/waas541xrn.html#pgfId-171257
So either down grade your vCM to 4.4.7 (this requires that it is a vCM-100 or -2000)
    - there probably is a vCM 4.4.7 image out there somewhere, but these could be hard to get.
    - or just use the "copy ... install" on your vCM, to get it downgraded.
or use the 294 method (same methodology applies)
But as I see it, there is no need to play around wit ha secondary CM, you don't need the CM to ensure optimization, when things are up and running.
You can easily change a CM to an accellerator by configuration and a reload, unless we're taking vWAAS, where the ova image is locked.
remember to take a backup of your CMS database and place it somewhere else, before starting upgrading.
    Best Regards

  • WAAS (WAE-512/612) NIC teaming?

    Hi,
I've got a customer who wants to know if we can dual-home the WAAS appliances he purchased. Do the WAE-512 or 612's support any type of NIC teaming or active/passive on the NIC's?
Thanks for any help or clarification!

    Brad,
WAAS supports two (2) types of physical interface redundancy:

  • Minimum bandwidth for wae 512

Does anybody happen to know if there's a minimum bandwidth for the WAE 512 to operate efficiently?
    Thanks..

No, there is no "minimum" bandwidth. The WAE-512 will attempt to optimize all traffic that it has a policy for, regardless of the size of the WAN link.

  • WAE-512-1G Optimized TCP Connections

    Hi all,
Regarding the Sizing Capabilities of a WAE-512-1G Appliance, what is the meaning of the "Optimized TCP Connections" ?
Is this parameter related only from the initiated point ? or from both directions?
I'm asking this because, after instaling in inline configuration, a point-to-point circuit only, (2 WAE's + 1 CM), in the Branch WAE we had a Minor Alarm saying that we have reached the TFO Limitation, and on the ohter end, we haven't that alarm.
Most of the traffic(connections), should be from the Branch to the Central Site.
So, the main question is, if this parameter is related to from where the connection is initiated.
    Best Regards,
    Bruno Petrónio

The branch Cisco WAE applies a new TCP option (0x21) to the packet if the application is identified for optimization by an application classifier. The branch Cisco WAE adds its device ID and application policy support to the new TCP option field. This option is examined and understood by other Cisco WAEs in the path as the ID and policy fields of the initial Cisco WAE device. The initial ID and policy fields are not altered by another Cisco WAE. The packet is forwarded to the branch router and then to the WAN.

  • WAE-512 issue

    Dear ,
I have site A and Site B.In site A I have AWe 512 is installed,at site B there is a WAE 512 and WAAS as a CM installed.
All the applications were working fine between site A and site B.All of a sudden applications are not working like RDP,Accessin file server and all not accessible at site A to site B.When I check the connectivity ,it is reachable from site A to site B.
Even telnet from site A to site B to all servers with the  port 3389 is connecting. When I check through netstat -an it shows from site A source address to site B destination address to that port 3389 is established.
When mstc to that server is hanging, and \\x.x.x.x\ to remote is not able to open.
    Please guide me to resolve.
    Regards,

    Hi Venkat,
Looking at your issue, are you sure this is WAAS issue? Can you please apply pass thru policy for this traffic and see if it works.
You can also use cli command: show stat conn | in to see if the connection is going thru WAAS and is being optimized. If it shows up as optimized, try putting a pass thru policy for this client and verify the functionality.
Further, is this issue limited to one client / one site / multiple sites? Depending on that you want to focus either on hub site or branch site or single client.
Please also provide us the software version and hardwares you are using at the affected sites.
Feel free to let us know if you think it is WAAS related.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards.
PS: if this resolves the problem, please mark this as Answered.

  • WAE-512 - latest software version?

    Hi,
I am trying to find out about the latest WAAS software version supported on WAE-512. This product went EOS in May 2011. I am aware that V5 release notes declare that V5 is NOT supported on WAE-512. However, there is no clear statement anywhere on the support web site which WAAS software version is supported - I know that 4.3.x is, but what about V 4.4.x?
Does anybody run V4.4.x on WAE-512 (ideally used as Central manager) or is there any other confirmation that WAE 512 can be upgrade from V.4.3 to V4.4?
    many thanks
    Rainer Feil

If you have TAC support on your 512s, you can request version 4.5.1, they will make you fill out 20 or so pages documenting your network before they allow you to download it.  4.5.1 has the Citrix acceleration built in, and the better default policy set.
I had 512s running version 4.4.7 before 5.0.1 came out and they ran with no issues.  I upgraded to 674s in 3 locations when 5.0.1 came out to get the Citrix acceleration piece.  The 512s can not run 5.0.1.
If you plan on upgrading to 4.5.1, do not upgrade past 4.4.5, or you will have to downgrade before upgrading to 4.5.1
Highest level you can go to on 512 - 4.5.1:

I know clock is wrong.  CM address is correctly configured and I can ping it from the application accelerator.  WCCP config (on router and on appliance) is done as well.
Do you have any tips to solve this issue?

    hello Mauricio,
    try the following:
    from the WAE not registering:
1-Make sure you configure the default gateway on the WAE
2-on the CLI enter the following commands in the same order, not all at once give it a few seconds between line and line:
    -ip path-mtu-discovery enable
    -no cms enable
    -cms deregister force
    -cms enable
3- if still the same please open a case with TAC so they can get the sysreport from the unit.
    Regards,
    Felix
