Wait dialog for WinForm Reportviewer

Hello,
I have a winform (c#) apllication that uses the crystal report 2008 viewer to show some reports.
I would like to know if it's possible to show a waitdialog while the viewer is loading the report document or after the user changes the report parameter values on the parameter panel.
For some of my reports the load operation is very long because i have of lot of data, and I would like to show a wait dialog like the one that is shown automatically  for the asp.net crystal report viewer.
Does anybody know how I can solve my problem.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Giovanni Perrone

  • Copy paste text from pdf exported from Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer control with Czech specific characters produced box charactex or ?.

    Used Visual studio 2012. In our project there is used the Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer control. In the report handled by the control are TextBoxs with a text with Czech specific characters e.g. (ř, ě, ...) . When exporting the report to pdf,
    characters are displayed correctly. However when the text with czech characters in the pdf if copied and  placed into the seach box in the pdf document only box characters are displayed. The TextBox in the report use the default font Arial. When the report
    is exported to Word, and then the Word document is saved as a pdf document, its ok. Coping a text with Czech charactes in the result pdf document and pasting into the search box displays again Czech characters not box characters.
    Also when in the report handled by the ReportViewer control are several Tex Boxes and some of the boxes contains Czech characters and some not, after exporting to a pdf document there is problem with text selection. When in the pdf document I'm trying to
    select several paragraphs, some with Czech characters and some without them, selection behaves strangely and jumps from one paragraph to another unexpectedly.

    Hi,
    did you managed to avoid those squares?
    BTW: if any such char. is encountered in a line, the entire line of text is grabbled.
    I've tried even the ReportViewer from MSSQL 2014, but got the same problem. When I've tried IL Spy, I found a code, where it is checked if the PDFFont is composite - depending on that a glyph is created. But that still only a guess.
    I've tried Telerik's reporting, they have similar problem (beside other), but not with the special characters. They produced scuares for some sequences like: ft, fi, tí.
    Please give any info you got.
    Until then my advices for you:
    a) try JasperReports (seems theyre most advanced, although it is java)
    b) Developer express has quiet quality reports - and it seems they got those special chars. right :D
    c) I created a ticket and waiting for Telerik's response (but if I had to choose reporting, I vould stick with a) or b)

  • I need a code that allows me to show a "Please Wait" Dialog while performing a lengthy operation

    Hi,
    I have very basic knowledge of C++ and I don't understand completely how this works. I have been trying to use pthreads in order to be able to show a "Please Wait" Dialog while performing a lengthy operation. The problem is that the dialog
    box is showing up with a blank box where the label should go. Could you please modify the following code so that the program does what I am looking for? (note that I have pasted the sections of the program I think are useful for someone to provide an answer).
    void *run_optimization( void *ptr );
    void *run_optimization( void *ptr )
    Solution x = Optimizer(); // Lengthy operation
    const int * const SolArray = x.getDiscreteSolution();
    return 0;
    namespace RCM {
    private: System::Void button2_Click(System::Object^  sender, System::EventArgs^  e) {
    Processing^ Proc = gcnew Processing();
    Proc->Show(); // this is the "Please Wait" Dialog
    pthread_t thread1;
    int ret1;
    ret1 = pthread_create( &thread1, NULL, run_optimization, NULL);
    pthread_join( thread1, NULL);
    Thank you!!
    EDIT:
    I have tried the following:
    void *run_optimization( void ^ptr );
    void *run_optimization( void ^ptr )
    Processing^ Proc = (Processing ^)ptr;
    Solution x = Optimizer(); // Lengthy operation
    const int * const SolArray = x.getDiscreteSolution();
    Proc->Close();
    return 0;
    namespace RCM {
    private: System::Void button2_Click(System::Object^  sender, System::EventArgs^  e) {
    Processing^ Proc = gcnew Processing();
    pthread_t thread1;
    int ret1;
    ret1 = pthread_create( &thread1, NULL, run_optimization, (void *)Proc);
    Proc->Show(); // this is the "Please Wait" Dialog
    But I am getting the following error:
    error C2440: 'type cast' : cannot convert from 'RCM::Processing ^' to 'void *'

    Hi Shu!
    It runs in windows. I am using Visual Studio 2010 (and I can't use another version) which still doesn't have the threads integrated as I have read. So I am using POSIX threads for windows.
    Regarding the other question, I don't really know what either of those (.net framework library or native API) mean. I am sorry but I am really new at this and really don't know much but I am doing my best because I have to get this done.
    I only know basic C++ but had to use C++/CLI windows forms because of a code I integrated in my program for running macros in excel and it was in C++/CLI.
    Thank you for your help!
    You cannot pass a managed handle to void* (as you have discovered).
    If you really want to use Posix threads, you probably need to make your Processing class a normal C++ class, not a C++/CLI ref class.
    But the .NET way to do this would be to use a BackgroundWorker:

  • Automated wait cursor + wait dialog

    Hello to all,
    in our multiclient-multiserver application we found the following problem, which should be solved, but the solution we cannot find, maybe someone knows somehing about this.
    Some servers are connected, this server communicates together, replicates datas, so there are some redundant databases, and the operations implemented on server side, are a little bit time consuming ( to execute some functions, takes 20s -> 20m :( ) and we cannot improve this performance, we are only working on lcinet side. So customer needs some information, hourglass, and after Nseconds (e.g. N = 5s) dialog displaying animated icon, to show that there is some progress on server side. So we want to implement general solution to display hourglass, and our waitdialog. At javawolrd we found out techtip 87, it describes how to automate hourglass appearing ( EventQueue replacement with our custom), we want to adapt this technique to display wait dialog.
    So our goal is waiting for server to coplete some operatons,automate hourglass and dialog siplaying, after M second (e.g. 0.5s) show hourglass, and after N seconds after operation start show a dialog diplaying some message.
    Is there a solution ?
    Thanks
    Adrian.

    Hi,
    you could use a progress monitor,

  • How to increase the waiting time for response in Adapter Engine not in IE

    Hi Experts,
                It is a SOAP to Proxy Synchronous interface. SOAP system is sending the request to PI, PI sending the same request to ECC system, After execution of some logic response back to PI in 7 minutes. In ABAP Stack(sxmb_moni) processing the response message also successfully with success flag after completion of these 7 minutes. But exactly 5 minutes later getting the error at Java Stack RWB- in communication channel monitoring i.e
    com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessageExpiredException: Message bd2bf8d0-b2c2-11e0-c383-001cc4fb5cb7(OUTBOUND) expired.  We have set the "runtime-HTTP_TIMEOUT" parameter as 3600. thats why in Integration engine it is processing successfully.
    kindly suggest me how to increase the waiting time for response in Adapter Engine. Exactly after 5 mins getting the above error in rwb, but in Integration Engine getting successful flag after 7 mins until then it is waiting for response with  status flag Log version.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Waiting list for Apple Store for iPad

    Hi All,
    I put my name on the preferred waiting list for the iPad at my local apple store (Mass) on July 11th. The first time I talked to someone, he said it would take 2 weeks. The next time I talked to someone they said it would take a couple of days. Then I talked to someone else and he said "it could take a couple of days or a couple of months, we don't know".
    This seems very strange to me because you would think that corporate or some subsidiary would notify the retail store of an upcoming shipment of an extremely popular product. I work in marketing and sales, and I know that when i have a large shipment for a customer, we notify them when their product is coming.
    So my question is what is with the lack of information?
    Anyone else that has been on the preferred waiting list: what was your experience like? How long did you have to wait? (FYI: it is a 16 GB WiFi only model).
    Thank you for your time.

    You should just order it online. I think that supply is tight for the device everywhere.
    Apple does things differently. You might be on a list, but it could have 200 names on it. They'd call you if it was available for you (more likely they'd email).
    Really, if you had ordered online, you'd have it by now.

  • Problem with a maintenance dialog for a table

    Hi,
    I created a table (ztable) with transaction code SE11 and a transaction (ztransaction) with SE93 to manage this table (ztable).
    When I use the transaction "ztransaction", I have a message like this :
    "The maintenance dialog for ZTABLE is incomplete or not defined".
    What can I do ? How can I complete or define the maintenance dialog ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.
    C.

    First after creating a table you should creat a Table maintenance generator.
    Utilities -> Table Maintenance Generator .
    After creating Maintenance goto
    Environment -> Transaction
    This will succesfully create a transaction for your table
    You should give parameters while creating the transaction.
    UPDATE = 'X'
    VIEWNAME = your table name

  • Find the Wait events for an objects.

    Hi Gurus.
    I need you help to find out the wait events for a particular table and index when batch export job running from the application. I have done some work around to to find out, but i am not able to figure out the issue or what are the wait events. i am working on linux 4node rac 11gR2.
    Below are the steps i have done.
    1. find object_id for a table finding the wait events to that object_id.

  • What does the option 'Settings- incorrect waiting time for status' do ?

    Hi All
    We had an infopackage that seemed to be hanging this morning . (Yellow Status) I was advised to access the option 'Settings->incorrect waiting time for status' and set the wait time to 7 minutes (from 7 hours). This changed the status to Red.
    I then re-ran the ipak and reset the ''Settings->incorrect waiting time for status'  to 7 hours. This made the red process go back to yellow and the run time started going up again.
    Can someone explain what is going on. Have I got 2 instances of the same ipak running simulateously. Why did the red one come back to life even thoug I deleted the request in data target for that ipak.
    Thanx
    HKF

    Thanks, Verdi - the first time I enabled,/ or disabled, I hadn't realised what had actually changed, as I think I'm so used to seeing my links open in Safari anyway!

    Hi Nesimi,
    I wasnot able to maintain the "assign S-user fro SAP Support Portal functionality" by drilling down the following path from SPRO>SAPSolMan>Configuration>Basic Settings>Standard Config of Basic Settings>SolMan>Connection to SAP-->Assign S-user for SAP Support Portal functionality.
    I have to follow the following path to maintain Table "AISUSER" = SPRO>SAP SolMan>Config>Scenario-Specific Settings>Service Desk>Service Provider SW Partner>Maintain Table AISUSER.
    What's a ditto...
    Thank you again for your time.
