  • Employee Interaction Center

    Dear Colleagues,
    In Customer Interaction Center (CIC), search is possible based on Customer(Activity Partner).
    But in general Scenario, in Mobile Sales, Sales Representative will assigne some activity to Person Responsible (CIC agent). Now CIC agent will go to his desktop and he should have facility to search based on his employee number. Here I am talking about the Employee based search. I am been told that we need to have Employee interaction center for this.
    Any other suggestions on this will really be appreciated.
    My main concern is to have Employee based search in CIC.
    Regards
    Milind

    Hi,
    >what is employee interaction center?..
    An Employee Interaction Center (EIC) is an important part of a shared-service concept. It is an organization model in which particular services are provided for the whole company by an organizational unit created for this purpose. The individual business areas or departments of a company can take advantage of these internal services.
    >Steps to configure EIC?
    >what are the mandatory steps needs to be followed?
    For information about Customizing for the Employee Interaction Center, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Personnel Management under Employee Interaction Center (EIC).

  • Identity theft-Verizon corporate store employee opened an account in my name without my permission. It seems Verizon isn't willing to do anything to resolve it. Help!

    It’s a long story but I’ll try to keep it short and simple as much as possible.
    I went to the Verizon Wireless corporate store back in beginning of February 2014. After a credit check, I decided not to go with Verizon and left the store. About a week later, I received a letter from Verizon saying “Welcome to Verizon. Your new account… “. I called the customer service right away and was able to get the phone number,account number and other information. I was able to make a my verizon account and get a receipt for the service and device. Turns out, the new account was opened about 20 minutes after I left the store by “M” who helped me. The receipt had the time, employee’s name and register/terminal number that he used to open an account. He opened an account,added data service and got an Ellipsis tablet for free.(They were having a promotion at that time)
    Customer service rep told me that she can’t do anything other than closing the account and left me with a $83 bill which she couldn’t waive. She closed the account then I went to the corporate store right away.
    I spoke to the store manager “C”. I told him what happened and showed him the receipt. He went to the back of the store to talk to “M”,came back,talked to other employee(I overheard their conversation-he was saying what “M” told him made no sense to him) and told me that “M” will come talk to me to explain what happened shortly. I waited for 20 minutes or so for “M” to have a conversation but he never showed up. The store manager said that the account was opened by “accident”. He’ll look into it and give me a call in a day or two. It was hard to believe that a new account can be opened by “accident” but I took the store manager’s business card and left the store.
    2 days later,I didn’t hear from the store manager so I called him at the store. He said “Oh,I totally forgot. It’s been a busy week. I’ll call you back. Don’t worry, as soon as I get an update,you’ll be the first one to know.” That was the last time I got to speak to him. I’ve called him at the store many times,even called his cell phone which was on his business card. I’ve called many times and left many voice mail but he never got back to me. I called customer service many times but it took 20 minutes just to speak to the rep,then transferred to another rep,wait for another 20 minutes then get disconnected. After 6 or 7 tries, I finally gave up. It went absolutely nowhere.
    A week later, I decided to call the Verizon fraud department to file a complaint. The rep pulled the file and said that whoever at the store filed the report left out a lot of details and names. He also said that it looks like either they didn’t take it too seriously or someone was trying to cover up. According to him, the report is a joke. He said that he can’t do anything on his end I need to go to the store to resolve it.
    For the next two weeks, I called the store ,cell phone and left messages every 2-3 days but no luck.
    Two week later I found the number for the Verizon Security Department. I called them to file a complaint. The rep took my information and said he’ll call back within 48 hours. No case number given.
    3 days later, I still hadn’t heard from anyone,not even from the security department. I called the security department again. I explained that I filed a complaint but the rep couldn’t find the case. I filed a complaint again and was told that someone will be contacting me in a week.
    It’s been over 2 weeks but I still haven’t heard from anyone. A few days ago(3/31/14) I received the bill from Verizon in the mail.
    At this point, I can’t seem to get Verizon’s attention. I’ve already got the police report and spoke to the identity theft lawyer. I’m about to report to FTC,BBB and the attorney general. I’m also initiating paperwork in my local small claims court.
    It is very frustrating having to spend so much time just to trying to talk to someone from Verizon but I’m not taken seriously. I had to spend so much time contacting credit bureaus,researching how to handle the situation like this and other things I have to do to handle the situation. This is such a nightmare and very overwhelming. Not to mention my credit score dropped by 100 points right after this incident which got me denied for an apartment application and had to pay more security deposit.
    Please help. If anyone can give me an advice on the best way to handle this or to get Verizon’s attention, I’d really appreciate it.

    I am sorry this happened to you. We found out today that the Galaxy phone my wife purchased for me and put 300.00 cash downpayment on was stolen by an employee. Of course calling does not do a thing. All they do is say sorry and hang up. I will find a way to get that money and then leave this company. It just stinks that they take the word of an employee (who by the way was not there two weeks later) and we spoke to the manager who said he would take care of it but did not.  We are out 300.00 and screwed I guess. WE WILL BE LEAVING THIS COMPANY.
    I know they don't care but it made me feel good to type in caps. I really do not care who is my carrier anymore, they cannot be as bad as this one,

  • Getting ichat to talk to other servers

    So, we have a functional and running private server that we use to serve ichat among other things. It's great for talking to other employees who have server accounts via ichat.
    But we can't seem to communicate with people OUTSIDE of that. It's getting to the point now where we would like to be able to chat with people outside of the company who also have jabber accounts (google talk, etc).
    How is this done? It seems like it should be a pretty simple thing.
    Thanks!

    We have our firewall off, so my assumption is that the ports are all open?
    Here is a bit of stuff from the ichat log when attempting to add a gmail buddy from our ichat client account:
    Sep 10 12:47:18 server jabberd/resolver[70991]: [xmpp-server.tcp.gmail.com] resolved to 74.125.155.125:5269 (1800 seconds to live)

  • TV tuner for a laptop? What does it do, and what else is needed

    I hope I am posting this in the right place...if not I am really sorry.  I am new to this whole talking to other people online thing...Heck I'm rusty at just the talking thing.  I am a stay at home Mom and have been for almost 10 years.  If you wanna talk Dora, Spongebob, Abs's and/or 123's  I am up to date on those topics...I can even hang in there if you want to talk phonics....which I think is just making them relearn baby talk all over...but just me...a whole bunch of experts say that the way I learned to read, by actually reading was so completly wrong that I am lucky I am not extinct...If i wait a year or so there will be a new best way...and hopefully that will be a lot easier.  But if you wanna talk like a grown up...it's been a LONG time since I was in the company of grown ups enough to be fluent in their language.  Sorry for sad, lame attempts at humor...nervous that the cool kids are gonna not like me...I already made a near fatal error apparently.
    Anyway, sad story...skip it and lets say we covered it...The fact that is relevant here is we canceled cable to cut costs...and I am lonely and sad...as well as my kids.  Is this the answer to our prayers.  Or is this one of those things that you need one to make the new one work...but cause it's new it's a gotta have item?
    What I wanna know is if I have basic wireless internet...will I be able to watch TV shows on my laptop?  Yes or no?  Simple and small words please...really...not joking much at all...your posts on here make me feel like I am a trained seal, or something as equally not smart...lol
    Thanks for any help and ideas you can offer!

    As GS7k said - a TV tuner will only help you if you have TV content to tune,  whether that is cable or broadcast OTA TV.  For OTA broadcast you just need to connect an antenna to your old TV.  (Or if it's an analog TV, purchase a converter box or a newer digital capable TV.)
    For viewing TV shows directly on your computer - try hulu.com or the website of whatever network produces the show.  Many of them post their episodes for online streaming now.
    Two things to be aware of:
    1)  Adobe Flash (used by nearly all of the legit TV streaming sites) is a major system resource hog.  You need a pretty fast computer even for standard def content.
    2)  The online streaming offerings often have WEIRD availability rules/restrictions, such as "show will be posted 8 days after it airs and kept posted for 5 weeks only".  These vary from show to show, even on the same network.
    *disclaimer* I am not now, nor have I ever been, an employee of Best Buy, Geek Squad, nor of any of their affiliate, parent, or subsidiary companies.

  • How to change myself to account manager from account member?

    Hi,
    I've been to the Verizion store where me and my dad activated our cellphones to change my role to account manager(since me and my dad's phones were activated by my uncle-in-law, which means my phone lines are his sub-account or something).
    we went there since i'm moving to Louisiana and just wanted to change the billing address, so we talked to the employee at there and she simply put me as an account manager or something, but when i checked my verizon today, i'm still an account member.
    Can anybody tell me what i have to be an account manager? or just wanna know how to change the billing address..
    hope you guys can help me out.
    thanks!

        Hey Mrpark121,
    Being an account manager is extremely convenient.  It allows you to view the bill and make account changes without the account owner present.  It also means you are doing something right, because the account owner has placed that trust in you to make those changes.
    If you are listed on the account as an account manager you can call in and have the ability to discuss the account in complete detail and make changes.  The only changes you cannot make are adding or removing an account manager as well as add, change or delete the billing system password.
    You would have to be given that same access online.  Right now you are an account member so the information you are allowed to see is limited.  For steps on how to make you an account manage through My Verizon, visit http://vz.to/ZIaxkY.
    Then when you're ready to change the billing address please visit, http://vz.to/WH2nm8.

  • My thoughts (and yours too!) about Arch (I'm in love already!)

    Hello all!  I suppose I would be called a newbie to Arch, but certainly not to Linux.  I've been running Gentoo for five months.  If I were running, say, Ubuntu for five months, I would probably still be considered a newbie, but five months of Gentoo has made me pretty proficient at Linux.
    I (if you haven't guessed yet) am a Gentoo user , and it seems like there are a lot of Gentoo users who go to Arch.  That's how I heard about it, through the Gentoo forums.  I am currently looking for backups in case Gentoo comes crashing to the ground.  I was perfectly content in my little bubble of happy compiling until I learned about the unrest inside of the Gentoo community.  I never realized that things were in such bad shape... like a downward spiral.  The result cannot be good.  I feel like I'm on a sinking ship and am praying for my life here.  I've seen a lot of threads at the forums lately like "If Drobbins fork Gentoo, will you follow him?" and "Will you stay with Gentoo if the Foundation is handed over to a 3rd party?"  I find these a little unsettling!  I understand that the Foundation is a terrible state right now, and the founder's attempt to get it back has failed, so now I don't things are going to head up.  So I've started to face facts, that I better have some backup plans so that I'm not starting over from square 1 when this all burns to the ground (hopefully if, not when, because I like Gentoo and really don't want to have to give it up).  Now I admit that I don't like EVERYTHING about Gentoo, but I like almost everything, and Arch seems to be like Gentoo in many respects.
    Some of my personal desires in a distro:
    1.Bleeding edge with rolling updates (and thus no need to ever reinstall the distribution)
    2. A large repository for the package manager
    3. Not a newbie distro... a distro for those who like the command line and to do things themselves
    4. Good community
    5. Customizable
    6. The ability to choose between a stable and unstable package on a per-package basis
    7. Install from source
    Arch seems to satisfy 1,3, 4, and 5 correct?  And pretty well satisfies 2, though I can see its package manager is not as big as Gentoo (though bigger than like Slackware).
    I guess for the most part it doesn't satisfy 6 and 7 though, right?  I realize that AUR is source-based, but on the whole, Arch is binary, so I'm referring to the overall tendency of the distribution.
    Is there the ability to choose between stable and unstable packages though, to be as bleeding-edge as possible? (I'm thinking no but thought I'd ask)
    Many other distributions such as Ubuntu probably wouldn't meet my needs at all.  They seem to have a great repository and community, but I just don't want a GUI-based distro.  The truth is, I want to feel like my computer needs me.  It's my baby.  XDDDD  Okay, that's pretty sad, especially because it's a Pentium II (I can't WAIT to get my new laptop!!!!!!!!!!!), but I appreciate my Gentoo box way more than our Windows box upstairs, a lot of that having to do with the work I had to put into it to get it working correctly, and all that I had to learn.  It makes me appreciate it a lot more, and it makes me a lot better at solving problems.  (If it ain't broken, why not break it so you can fix it? XD)I don't want a distro that does everything for me; I won't feel needed anymore.  Plus, I'm addicted to the command line.  I have a window manager, sure (Thunar with Xfce), but I mostly still use the command line to view my files.  Sometimes I don't even start up X (I never start it up by default) and am just as efficient as when I have it open.  I insist on knowing how to do everything manually... when I wanted to make keyboard shortcuts for X, I chose to use xbindkeys rather than use the GUI with Xfce, so I could do it manually and still have it working if I ever switched desktop managers.  I manually edit pretty much ALL my config files and, like  I said, I am just as efficient without the GUI as I am with it.  I can't go five minutes in GUI without having a virtual terminal open.    So I think, in these respects, Arch would meed my needs quite well, just as Gentoo does now.  I have deiced to try out Arch now anyway, regardless of the state of Gentoo, because you know, i might just like Arch better.  I know a lot of Gentoo users have said they've gone to Arch.    I'm trying to get my friend Evan to let me use his 8 gb hdd to try it on, because my current 6 gig drive for Gentoo is like... 99 percent full (I swear, I'm not kidding, I have 100 mg left, I REALLY have to prune XD), so once I get it, I'm going to install Arch (after unhooking my /home hard drive because I only have two slots for hard drives, and they're both already filled!  I will probably end up moving the /home directory onto that 8 gig drive anyway.  I realize it's hard to share things between distros, but I will at least be able to have a place to put files for both distros in the same place and would probably end up symlinking some same location to my desktop for both distros
    Okay, now I'm just ranting.  Back to point!  I'm definitely going to try out Arch, and so far I like what I see. I even recommended it to a friend who is also thinking of leaving Gentoo (for Ubuntu, so he can support his amd64 processor).  I pointed out Arch64 and he's considering it. I don't think he'd like Ubuntu any more than I.  He originally used Slack and only switched to Gentoo because Slack really doesn't have a good package manager.  I think he'd like Arch as well.
    I've also done research on other distributions someone like me might like (especially coming from Gentoo).
    This is my current list:
    Arch Linux
    Frugalware (based on Arch, right?)
    Zen Walk
    Vector Linux
    CRUX (I'm leaning away from this one, as of now)
    Lunar
    Source Mage
    Sorcerer
    FreeBSD (but I've decided not to go with FreeBSD, as much as I like installing from source, because their philosophy of stability over currentness (like not having flash 9 because it's not "stable") just doesn't fly with me.. Linux is better for me, I think)
    LFS.. okay, not really, but if I ever have a weekend when I'm REALLY bored.........
    I've used Slack before but I would prefer to have a package manager, so I'm steering away from that direction, as much as I liked Slack.
    Have I missed any other distros people in this sort of mindset like us might like?  ^_^
    My primary focus right now is Arch, and it's definitely my first preference as far as switching goes.
    I think my biggest problem with Arch is that I REALLY like to compile everything from source (or at least, have Portage do it for me :-p), so I"d miss that.  Especially USE flags.  However,  Source Mge/Lunar/Sorcerer don't sound as good as Arch, and FreeBSD just... isn't my thing.  Their package manger seems great, it's their overall philosophy I disagree with.
    This post really isn't asking for help with anything, but isn't that fine?  This is just the Arch Linux General Forums, right?  I just wanna talk about Arch as compared to other distros.  I've wiki-ed it some, but I just think it's a fun thing to discuss.
    So what things do you guys like better about Arch, and what things do you like better about Gentoo, or maybe about some other good distros?
    I can't wait to try out Arch; I'm so excited!  No Xubuntu for me! ^___________^ (Gnome and ESPECIALLY KDE would lag far too much for this computer)
    -Megan M-

    Well, I technically have 14 gigs... I have the 6 gig and a 4 gig which has /usr/portage (the portage tree probably takes up so much space it would outweigh any space saved through USE flags XD) and /var/tmp, since that can get huge while compiling and I don't have space on the 6 gig for the fluctuations in space... I had to install the binary for OpenOffice just because the temporary space required to compile it was bigger than the space I had on my hard drive!!!!and I actually have so little space left I am permanently using a ext3 formatted flash drive as my ~/Desktop (it's in my fstab and everything XD!)  This gives me 4 extra gigs for all my stuff.
    But anyway, just you people answering this thread so nicely confirms my feelings about the Arch community.  I can easily see a thread like this simply being ignored on the Gentoo forums, or just merged with other threads.  >.<
    Actually, to be honest, most pakcages I am running unstable on Gentoo had to do with compile errors and such, or some feature not working correctly in the older version.  The only ones that I just wanted to run unstable are.. lemme check my /etc/portage/package.keywords... Skype and Pidgin.  And possibly Mplayer too, I was thinking of.  Everything else was either because of problems or of it being in the Sunrise overlay (everything in there is masked as unstable since it's not an official part of the Portage tree).
    How easy is it to get an older version of a package?  I ask because I want Flash 9.0.48.0-r1, NOT 9.0.115.0.  The newer one made my Firefox commit suicide and just close with an error when I viewed certain pages (youtube, etc. was fine, but even going to www.adobe.com made it crash *irony*).  Gentoo forum users told me that then newer one was unmasked because of a security flaw found in the older one, but for me, I'd rather take my chances with the hole than have firefox crash every five minutes!!!!  Is there any way to specify not to update a package either, for when you do a world update (or whatever they are called in Arch)?  This also has to do with Flash... I'll give the newer one a try... maybe it was just a Gentoo issue... but if not, I'm DEFINITELY downgrading!
    I like how easy it seems for Arch users to add packages to AUR so they are available to others... this is harder to do on Gentoo, despite that everything is source-based.  It's most like there is a wall between the users and the developers that cannot be broken easily.  This seems like a good way to let users have a little fun in the developer's world without *being* one.
    One last question while I'm here.. my other friend who I sugested Arch to... I just want to confirm that Arch would support his CPU.  He said to me:
    "Oh, and my CPU arch is amd64 / x86-64 / emt64-t
    thechnically its em64t since its an intel CPU but i am running a k8 optimized system (because I used to have a opteron)"
    ^_^
    PS: Your forums may be smaller than those of Gentoo, but that is not necessarily a disadvantage.  There is like a perfect size, I think.  You can be too small OR too big... with bigger forums, it is so much easier for a thread to just get buried if no one can answer it right away, even though someone else might be able to but will never see it because it's already buried.  This happened to me in the Ubuntu forums.  I obviously do not run Ubuntu but posted a question there regarding mtpfs with a particular MP3 player, because I figured the forums were large enough that I'd get at least a few people with the same mp3 player and they could tell me their experiences with the program.  HA!  Instead, I just got 0 replies and it was simply buried.  With forums, bigger isn't *always* better, imo.
    PPS: What is your policy on patching the source code?  For example, GTK+ recently deprecated a few features that TiLP(1 and 2) depends on.  The source code will now not compile.  I made a patch for it to fix it (I was supposed to submit that ebuild two days ago... grah, I really should do it tomorrow!), for otherwise it just gives errors.  If it is TiLp2 you have in the repository, it is literally as simple as adding one line in the source code (and is the fix the developer himself recommended), but Gentoo did not even notice and kept the source code in the tree the same even though it would no longer compile! @_@  This kind of ticked me off, personally, which is why I have to submit that patch tomorrow!  ha ha

  • The dealer changed our plan without letting us know about disadvantage.

    An authorized dealer changed our plan without letting us know what is going to be changed, and we didn't even know they are changing our plan on new contract, we just found out, they do not want to answer. I want to know if we can get back our old plan, as the contract was signed under false information.
    This is the story happened today:
    My mom, is the master holder of our VZW account, we've been using verizon for years and years, and we first got our smartphone when Verizon just started selling iphone 4, we ordered it online when it was just released.
    The plan we had was family plan with unlimited data.
    We did not used data that much for the most of the time, but we did used it a lot for some month - thanks to unlimited plan.
    We were trying to keep our unlimited data plan, even when my mom lost her iphone 4, she didn't connect with her old phone (not the smart one) so that our unlimited data plan would not be changed.
    The dealer we made contract for iphone 4 has moved, or disappeared, i don't know, so my mom had to find another verizon dealer who speaks Korean,
    because she doesn't speak English at all - but she's the one who take care of the bills and this kind of stuffs as she has more available time than me.
    I wanted iphone 5 when it was released, but wasn't really sure about paying for it to get upgraded because iphone 4 was doing pretty well enough for me.
    Then she found this dealer in Korea Town ( Ultimate Wireless - at 6th), and she told me that they could get us the newest smartphone only for $75 -
    iphone 5 for me, and Samsung note 3 for her.
    I was like - 'Samsung maybe offer some sort of special rate, but I'm pretty sure Apple wouldn't sell their just-newly-released-phone for much low price than 2yr contract price.'
    and my mom was like ' i don't know but they said they can do it for sure' - so i was like Ok, why not .
    I guess that's about an year and half ago.
    Now iphone 6 is here, and i looked up on my verizon account and Sadly, my contract ends next May or something.
    So I told my mom about Verizon's iphone trade-in offer and I feel  sad about that I am not eligible for it right now.
    My mom happened to visit this dealer again to add a new line in our plan, and she asked about that trade-in offer and mention that her daughter (me)
    is sad that she is not eligible.
    And that evening, my mom told me that they said they can do this trade-in thing for me.
    and i was like what? how?
    and she was like 'how do i know? they said they can do it so just told me to bring the old phone'
    Well my mom, is 54 years old Korean born woman, who doesn't know about technology, English, or any complicated stuffs.
    She doesn't even know what the term 'trade-in' means, so that I even had to explain her like it's an offer from verizon you give them old iphone 4 or above, and they give you $200 certificate. But only for new 2yr contracts.
    She was like 'well, she said she ordered it already so just go pick it up'
    She normally picks up the phone for me (since she's always around K-town, but im not) but today, I happened to have free time on afternoon, and she had some appointment so I had to go visit the dealer to pick up the phone.
    So I went in, they were nice and kind, recognized my mom by mentioning her name.
    She, the dealer, was a bit busy helping out other customer so I had to wait for a while -
    While i was waiting for her, I just looked around inside of the store - like TV screens promoting new phones, and new plans and stuffs.
    Finally she got back to me and brought out the iphone 6 from back -
    and she was like
    'Not sure if you know, but your contract has not been end - so it's going to be like returning and getting back with the EDGE' (speaking Korean)
    If i didn't see the 'EDGE' plan stuffs from the TV screen, i probably would just go ok- ok- ok- thanks.
    But when she just mentioned 'EDGE', i felt something is not right.
    so I asked her, what exactly the 'EDGE' is, and what is being changed.
    she hesitated a bit -and said
    'Um... so you now have 6 GB data.. and ..'
    i was like what? no no. we have unlimited data plan since our very first smartphone - and we never changed plan and tried keep the plan when even we lost one of our phone.
    then she was like
    "um...but..it seems like it changed.."
    SO i asked When did it changed.
    and she was like "i don't know. But you guys use only 3GB anyway"
    I was like ' well, that's not important how much we actually use our data. the thing is we never changed our plan to keep the unlimited data plan'
    and she just ignored it and move to next issue - setting up the new iphone 6 for my number.
    she was like 'You don't need to give us the old phone. the payments will be billed to your statement and it's going to be.."
    She was saying everything quickly and just briefly in Korean. She sounds like YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THE PHONE.
    I didn't even know there is such thing like payment plan for buying a phone BEFORE I saw it on TV SCREEN while i was waiting.
    And those promoting screens was made in English, while most of their customers are Korean who doesn't know English much.
    and i was like "what? what payment? Are you saying I don't have to pay for the phone OR are you saying I'm paying for the phone every month?"
    She was like " uh... I mean.. there's certain payment amount you are paying for iphone 5 currently, and this plan, there will be about $10 difference for the phone payment...and.."
    I'm a person who raised in Korean till highschool I speak Much better Korean than English, but I was hard to understand what she was exactly saying
    because she was saying everything so complicated.
    So I tried to clarify: "Ok. so this phone - I am not getting it for free. Right?"
    then she was like 'uh...yes - it's now free but you don't have to pay anything right now'
    So I clarified again " so that means, I'm buying the phone. not free. right?"
    and she was like "uh..but it's not that you buy this right now. It's about $30... so.."
    She then was saying this very unclearly so that she sounded like the phone only costs $30.
    "then why did you tell my mom that you can to trade-in deal for me?" I asked.
    then she was like "I didn't tell her I can do trade-in. It's not trade-in"
    So I told her" OK, as you know, she doesn't know about anything about this kind of stuffs. she doesn't even know the word 'trade-in' in English. She said she asked you about we bringing you the old phone and you get us $200 gift card so we would use that card to buy iphone 6 and she told me that you said YES YOU CAN DO IT, SO BRING THE IPHONE 4"
    She paused for a while, and I asked her again "and what's up with the change of plan? Our plan was unlimited data. Did you tell my mom about changing the plan? If she knew plan's being changed, she would not do this with you, or she always asks me before signing a contract if there's any change. All i remember is you are getting us decent phones only for $75. How can you explain about this?"
    I was amazed after hearing her answer
    "I don't know"
    and her kind attitude was gone, she was like 'i don't have nothing to do or say'
    I was so mad, told her to cancel the iphone 6, and I just left the store.
    I'm not a person related to the law, but I've met some lawyer few times with my friends, and I remember hearing this story about fraud -
    although the customer signed the contract on a stack of paper with small letters saying all about the terms and condition -
    if the customer was been told differently than the actual contract info by seller,and the seller took advantage from it, then that could be counted as fraud.
    I felt so conned and so sorry for my mom. I told her the story and she's mad, too.
    My mom and I will look up the old statement and check records to see if we were paying for our phone during current contract and visit the dealer again if we find something odd.
    But as from the story above, the dealer goes like she doesn't know anything about plan changes (even it was something she did) - so I don't really wanna talk about it with her.
    So I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to go back to our old plan in the case when the plan was changed without user's acknowledgement.
    Sorry to let you read this long story, sorry about temper.. but does anybody have idea on this sort of cases?

    yes I knew it was too good to be true, so i was worried but their answer was don't worry it can be done, we are the authorized dealer.
    If they fully told us about it, I wouldn't even upgrade my phone and just kept it up with my iphone 4 which I think is still working good for me.
    ahh... I just feel so bad
    I mean i might be ok with 6gb as we actually don't use that much for the most of the time, but still. This is wrong.
    And they tried to do exactly same thing again. and just ignored the issue when I brought it up.
    The reason I'm mad and want to get back my old plan is mainly because I feel we've been conned and lost something that we would not have lost without knowing it - and they knew about it all but hid it.
    I don't know.. not just about losing the plan... but I think this is so wrong.

  • 3.1.2 Update made things worse, final straw.

    After 4 days of perfect quality service, then 8 days of nothing but problem after problem, that's it, I lost it, this is a completely unacceptable level of service from both Apple and O2.
    Battery life barely lasting a day, 3G signal constantly dropping no matter location (even sitting on the same park bench I could watch it cycle constantly and drop, watching my battery life draining away, wifi, push, etc all turned off)
    O2 says "It's not us, your problem is with the iPhone"
    Apple says "We wont even talk to you until 3pm" (Sure, saturdays are busy, I totally understand, but I am NOT waiting 5 hours to talk to a technical advisor, I dont care how trendy you think you are. (this was at 10 am this morning) )
    So I marched right back into carphone warehouse, told the guy to skip the usual spiel and just cancel my contract. I was warned about going with O2 by friends but ignored them, stupidly, now i'm stuck with £20 worth of iPhone apps, and a £20 case that Carphone Warehouse would not refund.
    I intend to take out an iPhone contract with Vodaphone in January (supposedly when they are releasing). I don't intend to try Orange, I have had a terrible experience with them in the past.
    3.1.2 was the final straw, it's ridiculous that they had to release 2 updates within 2 weeks in the first place, let alone neither of them fixing any of the problems I was having, despite restoring the phone several times, cycling the battery, new sim, etc.
    If the problems are with the phone itself, hardware or software, I can only hope that they fix it by January, whereas if the problem is with O2s network, then good riddance. What a complete bust.
    Anyone who is thinking about taking out a contract, I advise you wait, anyone who still has the ability to cancel without incurring penalty I strongly urge you to do so.
    Such a pity, the device itself was the best gadget I ever had, absolutely loved it, but it's a phone first and foremost and i'm certainly not paying £250 up front and £45/month for a phone that only works on GPRS, I can get that for £10/month and no upfront from Virgin (same minutes/texts).

    I tried absolutely everything but thanks for the suggestions.
    Went from 3.0 (phone came with)
    To 3.1
    Several Hard Resets and more than one restore (from backup)
    Replaced the sim.
    More hard resets.
    Restore without backup (as new phone)
    Perfect GPRS reception when I turned 3G off, but honestly, no way I was prepared to pay 45/month for that and hope that the problem was software and not the 3G chip. So I returned it already.
    As for booking an appointment ahead of time, I already view Apple and the way they operate as pretentious and aloof, it's a SHOP, I should not need to book an appointment to walk into a shop and talk to an employee, that is not how shops work. I have a faulty product that needs to be replaced, I do not need to book an appointment to have a 'genius' ask me textbook questions before implying I must have tampered with the phone before reluctantly offering me an upgrade.
    In any other store a normal sales clerk will do that without making me wait 5 hours, I just get in the queue.
    Given the deadline for being locked into the contract was monday, I didnt want to risk waiting till saturday night for a new phone and being given just sunday to test it, because the first phone was fine for four days before giving me problems.
    To axemandu:
    I completely agree, whether the problem is with Apples software, the 3G chip Apple chose to use, or the service providers (or a combination of any of the three) the level of communication and service that a number (i'm not going to make any assumption as to how many, but more than enough to support 100+ page threads of complaints) of customers are recieving a level of service that is totally and utterly unacceptable and something needs to be done.
    I was lucky that I could ditch my contract, others were not so lucky and those people are being left with a huge monthly cost for a phone that is essentially, broken 24/7.
    I've never been Apples biggest fan, I had a rather dim view of them (and any company that hails the first iteration of a hardware product the way Apple does, first iterations always have problems which is why I waited for the 3Gs, assuming problems would be fixed by then) until I bought an iPod Classic, which has served me incredibly well for nearly 2 years now and is still performing amazingly.
    To go from that to the problems i've had with the iPhone 3GS and O2 has destroyed my newfound confidence in Apple, I have returned to intensely disliking them and although I intend to take out a Vodafone iPhone contract, I only intend to do so in order to make use of the money that would be wasted on the case/apps/etc I bought for the iPhone. If that still does not function well in the grace period before being locked into the contract, I will not hesitate to switch to an Android powered phone or one of the new Nokias.

  • Opening InDesign CS3 documents in CS4

    I am hoping someone from Adobe can help me with this question. Here is the scenario:
    I work on the support team in a prepress environment where we get hundreds of client supplied InDesign files weekly. Some clients supply their files in InDesign CS3 and some supply the files in InDesign CS4. We have both applications.
    From our experience, we have found that if we open a InDesign CS3 document using InDesign CS4, there is a potential for items to disappear in the document. I don't know what changed from 3 to 4 to cause this problem. This has happened to us more than one time and we have experienced money losses due to on press errors.
    One would say, as we have, if the document is supplied in InDesign CS3, work on it in InDesign CS3. Easy enough, right?
    Well, not really. If you have CS3 and CS4 both installed on your mac at the same time, simply double-clicking on the file will default to CS4 (since it is newer).
    We have told our operators that they need to identify what version the file was created in; which is not the easiest thing either.
    If you "get info" on the file, you do not get accurate information. It may say "CS4", even if it is "CS3", I think this is because your system is reading what the newest application that you have install is.
    I have found that by dragging the file over the CS3 icon in the doc, it will attempt to open the file in CS3 and if it truly is a CS4 document, you will get plugin errors and the file won't open. This works, but my 38 mac operators are so used to just double-clicking a file to open it, they sometimes forget to do it my way, and thats when we get errors.
    Is there a plugin available that would prompt you, when double -clicking on a file as to what version it is, or what version InDesign that you would like to open the file in?
    What did Adobe change in InDesign CS4 that would cause items to disappear or change when working on CS3 documents in CS4?
    Thank you in advance.

    First, this is a user forum, not an official Adobe support site, so you aren't talking to Adobe employees for the most part.
    Second, though it is subtle, there is a visible difference between the icons for file created in CS3 and CS4, but you do need to look.
    There is (or perhaps it's now "was") a known issue with master items disappearing when placing one ID file into another in CS4. Be sure your copies are updated to the latest patch. Another reason to avoid opening CS3 files in CS4 is potential differences in text flow due to text engine differences which will affect how lines break.
    If you want to train your people in a hurry, tell them the next time you have to re-run a job because they opened it in the wrong version you'll deduct the cost from their pay.

  • Why aren't any iPhone 5's being shipped to Iowa Apple Store?

    For the last two weeks I have been checking the Online Apple Store at 10:00pm daily for a Black 16G or 32G Verizon iPhone 5. The store made it sound like you just have to order the phone at 10:00pm and pick it up the next day. I even called one night before closing and asked if they would have any to sell (knowing that they probably couldn't say) but the guy said that he was pretty sure they had some so make sure you check at 10:00! I had my hopes up and have every night for the past two weeks and its getting kinda old! When I check availability, all of the other stores have gotten shipments of iPhone 5's at least once if not twice per week yet the Apple store in Iowa hasen't had any since the iPhone 5 got released. Anyone know why that is? I know the store might not be as big as the Mall of America but there are plenty of people waiting here so its a little frustrating when other stores are getting shippments of these phones twice a week and we haven't even gotten one yet.

    I have been checking with my carrier and other stores such as Best Buy and they are still fulfilling pre-orders. I should have just ordered it through Apple or Verizon and had it shipped to me but after talking with an employee from my local Apple store, he made it sound like I could just order the phone during 10pm-4am and pick it up the next day so I wouldn't have to wait 3-4 weeks for it to be shipped to me. Thanks for the suggestions. I will probably just order it and wait the month to get it even though it will probably become available for in-store pickup the day I decide to order it for delivery..

  • Black patch on my screen

    Hey guys, i just noticed there's a black patch on my screen. Bottom right has bigger patch and its obvious on the grey loading screen or any bright backgrounds. Is it something i should worry about be it dirt or burnt? Im using Macbook White Unibody late 2009 model by the way. Thanks.

    Hi..
    I too just noticed a spot on the right hand corner of my screen. The spot is as tiny has the tip of a .5mm pen..:P
    But yeah, I had a word with the apple store who told it may be a case of pixel damage. I'm taking my mac in next week, you might wanna talk to your local apple store about this..Better safe than sorry i guess..Cheers ..:)

  • External Display is pixelated

    After the 10.6.8 MacOS update, the external display via the Thunderbolt port is extremely pixelated. Everything looked great prior to this update and I have seen others complain about this too.
    Anybody at Apple Support care to comment?
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    This is not "Apple Support." This is a user to user forum. You could make an appointment at a "genius" bar and you would be talking to Apple employees. You can also give them written feedback here:

  • Apple Maps - Singapore - no Yelp integration?

    Hi Community,
    Any idea on the following? Apple Maps is advertised to show Yelp content when searching the map.
    For me, this does not work here in Singapore. E.g. I am searching for restaurant A, but there is no search result in Apple Maps. Then I go to the Yelp App and search for the restaurant A - and here it is (incl. pictures, ratings, tips, ...).
    Is it only me? There isn't an activation switch or something?
    Thanks a bunch!

    You are not talking to Apple employees here. Leave feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Find attached document or discussion

    Hello, is there a method with the PRC to retrieve all the discussions (or task lists) attached to a document?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
    From the jCOM perspective accessing a java (or more specifically a WLS object -
    an EJB in this case) is no different whether you use a VB or VC++ client.
    However, as you've found, from the COM perspective the differences can be quite
    evident.
    The bottom line is you need to know how to construct IDispatch objects and use
    them. You need to understand the basics of COM implementation. VB is nice in
    this way since it takes care of all the ugliness for you. But at the same
    time, you lose nearly all control over how these objects are created and/or
    implemented. So there is a trade off to be made.
    There is a nice write up on the Intrinsyc site
    (http://www.intrinsyc.com/support/j-integra/doc/javafromcom/vc2java.html).
    Alternatively you can check out the tutorials on the MS Developer documentation
    sites. They have quite a number of COM examples.
    But here's a very quick and dirty example:
    HRESULT hr = CoGetObject(L"myserver:jndi:JCOMSrvrObjsBean",
    0, IID_IDispatch, (void**)&ejbDisp);
    if(hr){
    //handle the failure here...
    ejbHomeVar = new VARIANT();
    OLECHAR *ejbMethName = L"create";
    DISPPARAMS *p = new DISPPARAMS();
    DISPID dispID;
    p->cArgs=0;
    p->cNamedArgs=NULL;
    p->rgdispidNamedArgs=NULL;
    p->rgvarg=NULL;
    iDispatch->GetIDsOfNames(IID_NULL, &methodName, 1,
    LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT, &dispID);
    hr = iDispatch->Invoke(dispID, IID_NULL, LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT,
    DISPATCH_METHOD, p, ejbHomeVar, NULL, NULL);
    Once you've created the ejbHome you can begin invoking on it the same way you
    did to get the home in the first place. Only this time instead of using the
    variant (ejbHomeVar) you'll use it's dispatch member ejbHomeVar->pdispVal.
    But to reiterate, there is certainly more information about this on the MS and
    intrinsyc sites.
    I hope this helps.
