  • How to limit end user from creating grid

Can I limit the end user's ability of creating new grids? What is the best practice for managing grids?
    Thanks!

The best practice is to allow end user to create and save their own grids. There is no need to limit users from a potentially useful feature. If you have grids which you don't want users to change, assign a class to those grids which they should change, and give them View access to that class.
If you still don't want users to save their own grids, you might try giving them View access to the [Default] class, though any user smart enough to assign a class to the grid for which the user has All access to can still save the grid. Such users should be recruited to the application administration team and given a raise :-)

  • How to prevent end user to create a Query View and save back to BW Server?

    Dear All :
Do Someone know that how to setup authorization for Bex Query View Creation? We want to prevent end user to create a Query View to save back to BW Server his favorite folder. when our user run Bex Query, he can base on this query and use Bex Analyzer's save function to save a Query View and save into his favorite folder.
    My question is :
    1. Can we set up a Authorization to prevent end user to save Bex Query View?
    2. Or can I remove Save function from Bex Analyzer to prevent end user use save function, But Developer should not to be prevent .
Thanks for all of your kindly response.
    Best Regard
    Lawrence Kuo

    Hi.
Yes, you can do it like you outline in your point 1):
You need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP for this. This object let's you control what parts/components of a query the user can do stuff to. So, in your case, you need to have a role for the users, where you do not grant create-access to the component QVW, and then you need another role for developers, where you grant full access or whatever you need for your developers.
See [this post|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a6c54319-0e01-0010-20a4-fb81ad32f330?QuickLink=events&overridelayout=true&5003637661135] and the [SAP Help entry|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/80/1a6859e07211d2acb80000e829fbfe/content.htm].
You will also need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP1. If you already have a productive system with users doing reporting, both objects will be maintained in one of the roles already.
You also want to consider using the object S_RS_PARAM to allow users to create variants for the variabel screen.
    Good luck.

  • Enabling end users to create and upload their own layouts for PDF reports

Using the PDF printing features in APEX 3.x and BI Publisher, you can create professional looking report designs with no programming knowledge, simply by using the built-in wizards of the BI Publisher Word Plug-In, and a little knowledge of how to use MS Word. The nice thing about using the Word Plug-In is that even the end users of your APEX applications could potentially do this. The only problem is, that typically those report layouts are stored under the Shared Components of your application, and end users generally don't have access to the Application Builder, all they typically use is your APEX application. So then why not simply add an interface to your APEX application that lets your end users upload their own layouts and dynamically link them to APEX report queries at runtime? I put together a sample application that demonstrates this technique, you can try it out on apex.oracle.com or download the application and try it on your own APEX instance. • Allowing end-user to create a user using a form

    Hi all,
I'm working on a project whereby I must allow end-users from anywhere to create an account for themselves (Register).
Which table/object should I create a form on to enable users to register.
    (APEX 3.1.2)
    kind regards
    Mel

    Hi Mel,
I just set up custom authentication for the last application I developed. The user table is pretty simple and you can easily hash the passwords. I even developed a process where a person can change their own password and the process email them of any such changes. Course, that requires an email address to be a column in the user table.
There is a relatively new Apex book out titled Pro Oracle Application Express. It has a lot of good information concerning custom authentication. It takes you through the whole process, step by step. Also, the book is excellent in itself and definitely worth having. It has a lot of good information in it.

  • Minimum permissions to allow an end-user to create linked reports?

User has Browser and Content Manager permissions at the SSRS folder level. I'm finding I have to add them to the SCDW_Administrators role before they can create/save Linked Reports - seems excessive, so looking to see if there's a better solution
    O.

    Hi,
By default, all System Center 2012 – Service Manager users have access to reports through the Reporting workspace. However, before users who do not have administrator permissions can view the Reporting workspace, you must add permissions
through SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • End User Role for Service Desk in Solution Manager

    Hey,
I am launching the Service Desk functionality for my End Users. One thing that i want to know of is the role that I should assign my user in Solution Manager to access his message. E.g.
I have a user 'A' who creates a message from any system in my landscape:Test, QA, Dev or Production. Now this message reaches in Solution Manager and is assigned to a certain Support Team according to the rules I defined. Now the personnel of Support Team needs some feedback from the end user who created the message. For that the user 'A' has to log into Solution Manager, access his message and enter the details which the Support Team requested.
I want to know that what Role should i give to this user 'A' so that he is able to access ONLY the messages that he created i.e. "Reported by" field showing user 'A'; and is able to view and edit them.
If I give him the role SAP_SUPPDESK_CREATE and SAP_SUPPDESK_DISPLAY, he is just able to see the messages, all of them, but is not authorized to edit any. Please help me out in this matter as i need a solution asap.

    Hi Nazir,
Create a role and add this t-code manually.

  • End User Personalization - Mandatory field does not make it mandatory

I am on GRC 5.3 SP8 and when I set "Company" as "Mandatory" under "End User Personalization", it does not put an "*" next to Company or force the user to fill in the Company field.
How can I make sure that the user enters "Company" when doing a "Create Request form"?  I want to make sure a red "*" is next to the field so that they update it.  Right now I have a default value in there but I want to make sure they think about what goes in this field.
When I create a custom field and use "end user personalization", the red "*" shows up and an error occurs if they don't fill in the field, but the predefined fields don't work the same way.
    Thanks,
    Peggy

GRC Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong but from my understanding, the Request Screen in the MyWork tab is for Approvers/Admins/Security i.e. those with UME permissions of some kind. This is not the Request Screen for end users. We actually customize our UME roles to elimate the ability to use this Request Screen. We want all of our security requests to be done in the End User Request Screen.
Unlike the MyWork Request Screen, the End User Request Screen is customizable under configuration-->End User Personalization. As you've noticed, here you can customize what fields you see on the End User Request Screen, what fields are defaulted, etc. For example, for our company, we do not want end users picking and choosing roles. Our end users are not knowledgable on our roles so we save that step for a stage in which Security Admins choose roles for users based on what they asked for in the Request Reason.
Another advantage of using the End User Request Screen is that end users can create requests without having UME permissions; they need only to be authenticated against whatever system you have chosen to authenticate them against (for example, SAP) Configuration-->Authentication. As long as they exist in that system, they can create a request.
Every company is different. For us, we don't like that the MyWork Request Screen is not customizable and requires UME permissions to even access it. So we have essentially taken it away through security (based on the Security Guide provided by SAP).

  • Prepare end user trainning document

i have configured LSO and now my client want me to prepare end user training documents, please provide your inputs and guide me on how to prepare them , and some good tips on how to conduct the training

    Hi
Whenever you are preparing an end user manual first you need to identify the roles, I mean we need to identify the activities to be performed, who is going to perform those activities and steps to perform those activities.
Here we go, If we look at your thread you would want to prepare LSO End user manual, for this module the roles could be as follows:
    1. Training Administrator
    2. Booking Administrator
    3. Learner (Internal/External)
    4. Billing Administrator
The following activities could be performed by the above roles.
    1. TRAINING ADMINISTRATOR : Prepare an end user document for this administrator by explaining the Catalog Preparation Process such as creation of Course Group, Course Type (with different delivery methods, payment methods etc) and Creation of courses.
    2. BOOKING ADMINISTRATOR : Prepare an end user document for this administrator by explaining the
different registration processes such as Classroom for externals, classroom for internal employees, E-learning for external, Remote/Virtual Classroom for externals and internals etc.
    3. LEARNER : Explain the steps to access the courses created by the training administrator (for ex: provide the link, show the course group, course type and course descritpion, course fee, course days etc...) and also explain the online booking process
    4. BILLING ADMINISTRATOR : Explain the steps to bill the course (different invoice models) for external peoples and explain the procedure of Activity Allocation for the internal employee courses.
Please close this thread if you got clarifications on how to prepare end user manual for LSO processes. It is obvisouly not possible for anybody to give exact end user manual for any module, since the processes followed by companies are different from each other.

  • Page customization for end user

is it possible to use other mechanism for end users to customize their own pages instead using the portal features since it's a little complicated cause each user needs to create new pages, add portlet, etc.
Can we use the mechanism like my cnn, my yahoo, excite and how to do that in a simple way?
    thanks for helping

    Hi,
I have the same question, but I would like to have a seperate page or application, showing only predetermined portlets, for users to choose from and place on their page. I do not want the end user to ever see the customization process Oracle uses. Can this be done???
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Karthika Siva ([email protected]):
A simple way to do this:
    1. Create a page that will become the default page for end users. This page will have your branded look & feel (style) and contain a default set of portlets. These are portlets that you think your typical user will find useful.
    2. Create portal user.
    3. Grant one of the following privileges on the page to the user. Grant 'Full Customization' or 'Add Only Customization' depending on how much control you want to give the end user. Keep in mind that both of these privileges allow the end user to only customize their PRIVATE VERSION of the page. Others will see the default, or their own version if they have also personalized it. See the online help on the Access tab of the Customize Page screen for a description of the privileges.
    4. Once that is done, set this page as the default home page for the user. You can do this using the Preferences tab on the edit user screen.
Now the portal user can log into the portal, and personalize his/her page by customizing portlets on the page, hiding/showing default portlets, and even adding other portlets to the page.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Find the User ID through which the end user logged in BEx Analyzer?

I want to fetch the end user USERID who is executing the query. I am the end user and want to view a report, so I will login into BEx Analyzer with my userid and start executing query. Is there any way I can find that ID, in any table, program, function module or some where........?
I don't want 'created by', 'last changed by'. I want ID through which end user is logging into in Analyzer.
Also if the end user is logging in through RSRT wanted to know the SAP login user ID through which the user logged in?

    Hi,
If you want to see the end user id that is running the query, and then open the workbook, select Layout from the menu u2013 Display Text elements. Click on All (or General, Filters or Variables based on your requirement). It will display the technical name, info provider, current user details. You can save it as existing work book transport to production, then when this query executed you can find end user login id.
May be you can check RSRWBTEMPLATE table for workbook users details. Mostly end user will not have access to RSRT.
    Hope it helps you
    Thanks

  • Logging in as an end user issue

    Hello
    APEX - 4.1.0.00.32
    DB version - 10g
    Web server architecture - OHS
    Browser - IE8
    Theme - 5
I have a working application that I want to deploy to end users, I have started the application and gone to the run application icon and right clicked and copied the url. when I open a new IE window and use the copied url the page comes up to allow me to log in, but the developer toolbar is still available at the bottom of the screen.
Here is the url I use to go in as a developer
    https://as271p1.cio.gov.ns.ca/pls/apex/f?p=4000:1:2313236537336539::NO:RP:FB_FLOW_ID,F4000_P1_FLOW:129,129
and here is the url I am trying to use as an end user
    https://as271p1.cio.gov.ns.ca/pls/apex/f?p=129:LOGIN:2781678685109191
    any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Another tip I forgot to mention: this is default behaviour when you have Availability Status = Available with Edit Links. Like mentioned in documentation:
Available with Edit Links - Application is available for use. For developers, the Developer toolbar displays at the bottom of each page. Requires the developer to be logged in to the Application Builder in the same browser session.

  • End User Training Material - SAP HR

    Dear Friends,
We are planning to go live somewhere in next month...So we want to prepare the end user training material...it would be great if anyone can provide me with some material and guide me on how to prepare and train them especially for Payroll and Personnel Admin...
    Thanks
    Nelson

    hI,
While prepairing the End User Material one should keep in mind that user does not know Com[plete flow of the system
Secondly you should provide him/her with step by step process of the each operation according to the role description
Thridly you can also plan according to the day to day activities of the User
