  • Installing JDeveloper IDE!!

    Hi,
    I want to install the JDeveloper IDE in our server.During the installtion of JDeveloper it is also includes a weblogic server, but i have already installed UCM with the weblogic server on that machine.
    Please advis me is it possible to install the two instance of weblogic server in the same server.
    How to install the JDeveloper on that machine?
    Weblogic Server 10.3.5
    UCM11g
    Thanks

    Hi
    It is important and make sure that you install JDeveloper in a different middleware home. Like when you install JDeveloper, at one point, it will ask to choose the existing middleware home (where you already have a weblogic + ucm) or create a New middleware home. So select NEW middleware home and give the folder some unique name and you are good to go. The weblogic server that comes with JDeveloper is a very basic simple version where you can deploy any standard J2EE apps (WebApps, EJBs, WebServices and ADF Applications also EXCEPT for SOA/BPEL apps). Also, any app you developed in this JDeveloper you can deploy to your other Weblogic Server. Since you have WLS 10.3.5, this means its preferable if you download and install JDeveloper 11.5 Version. Typically, I will have folders like this on my side:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\Jdeveloper115 -> This folder will have JDev 11.5 version installed and internally has WLS also.
    C:\Oracle\Middleware1035 -> Will have Weblogic Server 10.3.5 installed.

  • JDeveloper 11g with BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0

    Hi,
    Here is my requirement.
    To develop a simple web application which talks to a Business work flow developed using BPEL.
    The Setup I wanted to work on
    JDeveloper 11g.
    BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0.
    Now the problems seems to be is that JDeveloper 11g doesnt seem to be having BPEL Designer ,is there is plugin for me to get BPEL Designer in my JDeveloper 11g.
    Could some body tell me if i can use JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 with BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0 if yes then
    how do we configure the JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 to point to BPEL process Manager 10.1.3.1.0.
    Regards
    Harish

    Huh? In the subject you're talking about BPEL 10.1.3.x and now you're asking for 10.1.2?
    Anyway, you need the corresponding JDeveloper version to develop the BPEL workflow, ie JDev 10.1.3.4 for BPEL 10.1.3.4 or JDev 10.1.2. for BPEL 10.1.2.
    You can install as much as possible JDeveloper versions on your machine. As long as they are installed in a different home. I usually have three to six installations.
    Develop your workflow in the JDev matching the BPEL version and develop your UI in JDev 11g calling the BPEL as a WebService.

  • JDeveloper 3.1 + Personal Oracle 8i for Win98

    Dear all,
    I want to use the JDeveloper 3.1 + Personal Oracle 8i + Window 98 for local testing before uploading the whole site.
    Which extra products should I use to connecting them within my PC. Should I install a web server program or/and Oracle application server? If so, are there any precautions for me?
    Thanks a lot.
    Wallace.

    Wallace,
    In order to save you some time, I will
    clarify some issues.
    JDeveloper 3.1 includes a web server (webtogo) which can be used for local testing - no additional installation necessary.
    JDeveloper 3.1 is not certified against
    windows 98 - only on Windows NT / 2000.
    [Optional] Personal Oracle 8i will give you
    a good local test environment, but ultimately you will need to migrate to your deployment
    platform and with JDeveloper's automated
    deployment support, you may want to go
    directly to the Oracle 8i on your server as
    it is just as easy.
    I hope this can help you save some time.
    Sincerely,
    John - JDeveloper Team

  • Jdeveloper 9i check updates problem

    Hi,
    I wanted to update my Jdeveloper 9i with OA extension to have Junit.
    So I went to Help > Check for updates > and the rest of the wizard.
    The below is what I get:
    "An error occurred while getting updates from OTN. This may be due to a network
    problem, proxy settings or the update center may be temporarily unavailable.
    Details: Attribute value should start with quote."
    I have setup the proxy information in the webbrowser/proxy in the tools ->preferences menu. And the same setup is able to go to OTN in JDeveloper10g.
    Any ideas what is wrong?
    Thank you very much!
    Regards,
    Arun

    Download the Junit extension from the extension exchange:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/1012index.html
    for 10.1.2/9.0.5 and there is a link there for older versions.
    For OA Framework you need to get a specific patch from Oracle Support - you can't use check for update for this.

  • Jdeveloper Multi-language: How to start with a diffenent language?

    I am using jdeveloper version 11.1.1.3.0 on linux. How can I start my jdeveloper in a different language other than the OS language setting? I want to change the display of my jdeveloper to a different language (i.e French).
    I tried the following:
    Modified the jdev.conf file in jdev/bin folder to add the following JVM parameter.
    AddVMOption -Duser.language=fr
    AddVMOption -Duser.country=FR
    Then, when I start the jdeveloper, I get the following info message:
    INFO: Locale fr_FR is not supported by this product. Forcing locale to en_US.
    any idea?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply. I am actually creating a jdeveloper extension and like to support multiple language for that extension. I created properties resource bundle files (i.e bundlename.properties, bundlename_fr.properties) file and put all my text there. Then I use a method in java class to extract those text values which looks like the following:
        private static String getStringForBundle(String key, Locale locale){
            if(locale == null){
                locale = Locale.getDefault();
            ResourceBundle bundle;
            if (locale != null){
                bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle(BUNDLE_NAME,locale);
            else
                bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle(BUNDLE_NAME);
            return bundle.getString(key);
        }I like to test this extension in French or other language, So, I wanted to start the jdeveloper with that language. Can I do that?
    I modified the jdev.conf file to add the following
    AddVMOption -Duser.language=ja
    AddVMOption -Duser.country=JP
    As you mentioned, jdeveloper supports japanese language, I can see it's been translated to japanese. Now, if jdeveloper only support japanese, then does it mean that my jdev extension will also only support japanese?
    Thanks
    Edited by: user599422 on Oct 29, 2010 4:19 PM
    I got my answer. Jdeveloper only support Japanese language other than English. Since, jdeveloper only supports japanese language, it's extension will also only support Japanese and English(same JVM).

  • How to create JDeveloper Extension for new Projects ??

    I want to create a JDeveloper Extension for creating new project with following: (11gR2)
    1. Maven Support
    2. pre-defined dependencies in pom.xml
    3. pre-defined project feature (e.g. ADF Business Components)
    4. pre-defined Custom Base classes for ADF Business Componets
    Are there any documents / samples that i can reference ?!

    Some of these can be added declaratively using the template_hook in the extension.xml file and defining an application and project template. Others will need to be added directly.
    1. Add Maven Support
    This can be added declaratively, as technology in the project template hook.
    2. pre-defined dependencies in pom.xml
    This is going to need to be added to your project after it's created.
    3. pre-defined project feature (e.g. ADF Business Components)
    Same as Maven support.
    4. pre-defined Custom Base classes for ADF Business Componets
    You should be able to use the library hook for this, but I'm not quite clear on what this means.
    Here is an example template-hook that describes the creation of a Maven Application and the Maven Project that will be included with it. The <template-hook> element is placed inside the <triggers> section of the extension.xml file in 11gR2 (this won't work in 11gR1). This template-hook is what makes the Maven Application item show up in the New Gallery. Take a look at how that New Maven Application process works, and then look over this example. The <technologyKey> setting what adds the features to your application/project. In the example below, the Maven feature is being added to the project. The technologyKey for ADF Business Components is "ADFbc"
    The commented out lines below are either just comments, or they are optional elements for the project and application template hooks. It's pretty obvious which is which.
         <template-hook>
            <!--Maven Project template-->
            <projectTemplate>
              <templateId>mavenProjectTemplate</templateId>
              <name>Maven Project Template</name>
              <description>${MAVEN_PROJECT_TEMPLATE_DESCRIPTION}</description>
              <!-- <toolTip /> -->
              <!-- <weight /> -->
              <!-- <icon /> -->
              <!-- <galleryFolder /> -->
              <!-- <unsorted /> -->
              <projectName>mavenProj</projectName>
              <!-- <deploymentProfile>a.b.c.D</deploymentProfile> -->
              <technologyScope>
                <technologyKey>Maven</technologyKey>
              </technologyScope>
            </projectTemplate>
            <!-- Maven Application template -->
            <applicationTemplate>
              <templateId>#mavenApplicationTemplate</templateId>
              <!-- <templateClass /> -->
              <name>Maven Application</name>
              <description>${MAVEN_APPLICATION_TEMPLATE_DESCRIPTION}</description>
              <!-- <toolTip /> -->
              <weight>1.0</weight>
              <icon>/oracle/javatools/icons/application.png</icon>
              <!-- <galleryFolder /> -->
              <unsorted>false</unsorted>
              <applicationName>MavenApp</applicationName>
              <!-- <deploymentProfile>a.b.c.D</deploymentProfile> -->
              <projectTemplates>
                <projectTemplate>
                  <templateId>mavenProjectTemplate</templateId>
                  <!-- <name /> -->
                  <!-- <description /> -->
                  <!-- <projectName /> -->
                  <!-- <promptForProjectName /> -->
                  <!-- <deploymentProfile /> -->
                  <technologyScope>
                    <technologyKey>Maven</technologyKey>
                  </technologyScope>
                </projectTemplate>
              </projectTemplates>
            </applicationTemplate>
          </template-hook>For including predefined pom.xml settings, you can either edit the generated pom.xml file after the project is created, or you can add a predefined pom.xml file to the project. You can see more about working with files in a project on the [url https://blogs.oracle.com/jdevextensions/tags/files] JDev Extensions Blog
    Not quite sure what you are looking to do with the last item. If it's libraries that you're looking to add, you can take a look into the <libraries> hook.
    Staying with the Maven example... Here is a partial <libraries> element
          <libraries xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/jdeveloper/1013/jdev-libraries">
            <library name="Apache Maven 3.0.3">
              <classpath>../../apache-maven-3.0.3/lib/maven-aether-provider-3.0.3.jar</classpath>
               <classpath>../../apache-maven-3.0.3/lib/maven-artifact-3.0.3.jar</classpath>
           <classpath>../../apache-maven-3.0.3/lib/maven-compat-3.0.3.jar</classpath>
           <classpath>../../apache-maven-3.0.3/lib/maven-core-3.0.3.jar</classpath>
           <classpath>../../apache-maven-3.0.3/lib/maven-embedder-3.0.3.jar</classpath>
           <classpath>../../apache-maven-3.0.3/lib/maven-model-3.0.3.jar</classpath>
            </library>
          </libraries>Hope all of this helps, Please feel free to contact me directly via email if that would help you out. john<dot>brock<AT>oracle.com

  • JDeveloper extension with XSL mapper

    We want to develop a JDeveloper custom extension (a wizard). In one of the wizard pages, we want to use the JDeveloper's XSL mapper for one of the function.
    Can you please advise whether it is possible. If yes, any details would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    chk this

    you should have SOA composite application extension for this..
    if you dont want a visual transformation then you can use the jdeveloper project properties -> Run/Debug -> edit run configuration -> XSLT

  • Add flex to jdeveloper

    Hello every body.
    Im new using Jdeveloper and Flex.
    Im working in Red Hat Linux ES/AS 4.
    I have download and install Jdevloper 10.1.3 and download , from macromedia web, and install Flex 2.0.1 in my server.
    Now I want add Flex to Jdeveloper in the way that I can work with Java and Flex integrated, for this I think that I must to add Flex in anyway to Jdeveloper.
    Anybody can send me a link where I can find how to do this?
    Thanks in advanced & regards to all.

    Thanks John for your time, I founded also the same page and add to my browser.
    http://gergerconsulting.blogspot.com/2007/02/using-flex-in-adf-jsf-applications.html
    The other link that you send is against the treah that I open in the forum and you answer.
    I have seem the gergeconsulting page and I think it is a good sample of how to begining.
    But what I want is to know how to integrate Flex like Jdeveloper Extension or what is the way to do it.
    Do you know any document that explain how to do it?
    Thanks in advanced.

  • JDeveloper, Toplink, and ADF advice.

    We have application that was completely developed JDeveloper 10.1.3/4 with Toplink, JSF, ADF, and Session Facade; extremely similar to the SRDemo.
    I am want to upgrade to JDeveloper 11g; however, the ADF Faces JSF will be migrated to Apache MyFaces Trinidad.
    1. Why would this be better than migrating to ADF Faces 11g? Pros and cons?
    2. Is Apache MyFaces Trinidad the future of Oracle's ADF?
    3. What would be the best approach for upgrade to Toplink and ADF 11g?
    Thank you.

    1. Why would this be better than migrating to ADF Faces 11g? Pros and cons?It won't be better than using ADF Faces 11g - it is just more feasible for automatic conversion - we can't do automatic conversion from ADF FAces 10.1.3 to ADF Faces 11g since the UI capabilities are so drastically different. We migrate to Trinidad to allow you to combine Trinidad and ADF Faces 11g in the same application. (You can't use ADF Faces 10.1.3 and 11g in the same application).
    2. Is Apache MyFaces Trinidad the future of Oracle's ADF?No. ADF Faces Rich Client is the present and future. Those are based on Trinidad.
    3. What would be the best approach for upgrade to Toplink and ADF 11g?The basic thing to do is open the application in JDeveloper 11g - things should work after the migration.
    Then you can start leveraging new capabilities such as the new ADF Faces 11g UI in new parts of the application.
    You might want to ask on the TopLink forum if they have any specific migration tips.

  • Emmedding Oracle 10g XE into JDeveloper

    Recently competing IDE suppliers are embedding databases out-of-the-box to their IDE's. SJSC2 has Pointbase and Netbeans will have Apache Derby.
    I think for JDeveloper this would add value so we can (without installing Oracle separately) use a database directly.
    Would it be an idea to embed Oracle 10g XE to JDeveloper?

    Shay,
    The discussion as it's going now is just what I wanted. I think there was some good feedback.
    I think until now there is a 50-50 tie for embedding it and keeping it separate.
    I'm a little bit surprised because for 'real' JDeveloper users, an embedded database is not really needed as working in projects means that there is central installed database. And I expected thoses users around on this forum.
    Personally speaking, when working with JDeveloper on projects an embedded database is not needed. As I said before, most of the times in this case there is a central database server hosting the database.
    So for those people I understand they prefer keeping it separately (to keep it small).
    But there are cases that it really would add value:
    - JDeveloper Starters: starters who want to experience with JDeveloper and e.g. do some ADF tutorials need to install Oracle. Because of this additional installation many of them will bail out; that's not what we want!
    - Students: I JDeveloper would have an embedded database it could be used more easily for education on schools; the younger they start, the better!
    - Regurlaly/Experienced JDvelopers users who want to try something at home but don't have Oracle installed for some reason.
    For me it doesn't have to be Oracle XE, because it's still fairly big. It could also be a embedded Java database like Derby or HSQL. As long as it works with ADF Business Components without problem. (I tried MySQL once, but it didn't worked optimal with BC4J: e.g. primary keys are not added)
    Also remember that JDeveloper is shipped with embedded OC4J out-of-the-box. I know you cannot compare this to an embedded database, but it is in and you can choose to use it or not.

  • Oracle JDeveloper vs. IBM Visual Age for Java

    Hi,
    I have been out of this forum for quite sometime now.I wanted to know how JDeveloper is doing in general and how is its performance when compared to IBM Visual Age for Java IDE?
    Any links to sites related to this would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandeep

    Sandeep,
    Be careful while using JDeveloper for developing real time applications. There are very good features in JDeveloper, but this tool is having LOT OF BUG's...you know what I mean. You will end up having sleepness nights later to dig the problems and then to have answer from Oralce, which will always be you better shift to new version. When you will try to shift to new version, lots of earlier classes would have been removed in JDeveloper and then you will be forced to use new ones and take a hit of additional effort.
    Otherwise Its a very good tool and can be the no .1 Java IDE, if oracle technical staff work hard and make this product a bit stable.

    Hi,
    are you sure you want to start with 10g and not 11g (which is the latest?
    Have a look here for 10.1.3 documents: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/documentation/jdev1013-101297.html

    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    you will have to use the Base install and provide the OS specific JDK to run JDeveloper
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/soft10133.html
    "This release of JDeveloper is tested and supported on the specific versions Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X, as listed in Section 1.1 below. In addition, it is supported on any operating system that supports Sun Java SE Development Kit (JDK) 5.0 Update 6 or later."
