Watching Videos on Blackberry 8310

I am new to the RIM family and I love it so far.  I have been having some problems with it though.  The first is my desktop software which can be a different thread in itself.  The reason for this message is viewing videos on my phone.  Both my friend and I have the 8310 and we have not been able to figure out how to watch videos on the phone from websites such as YouTube or any other site.  I heard you have to download a software application, but I'm not sure.  Please let me know if you know how I would go about doing this.  Thank you in advance.

Boy oh Boy have I have got great news for everyone here who has a Blackberry 8300/8310 or hopefully every model...after surfin the internet for several hours I finally found a website for my phone that will let you d/l youtube videos.....
All I did was go into my browser and erased and added the above website....I know this works because I have been watching movies on my cell phone for the last hour...you don't believe me...try it...
I am very new to this forum stuff so if you have any questions or just can't get the phone to work which I know that you will please let me know and I will do whatever it takes to make sure it works for you...if I have to I will give out my number and you can call me...I am so sure that you all will love this....well I am done now to go back and watch some more movies...
I hope you enjoy this as much as I have.....I have loved over and over to where everyone said it ca't be done well I just hate hearing YOU CAN"T....

  • Video on Blackberry Curve 8310

    Hello
I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 and I am unsure if I can take video films with it. Can anyone please tell me what I can do to make it work.

Hi pipspur! As I've mentioned you can have video capturing in your 8310 once you've device OS 4.5. You can have new OS once your carrier accepts the new OS officially from RIM. Though some other carriers OS can be installed but I will request you to wait till itsenabled for your carrier.
Hi Rukus372! just to let you know all of my device like pearl 8100 can also have video capturing capability as that is running os OS 4.5. In BlackBerry its OS which can add capabilties that you may not have at this moment.
important thing as cadillacdavilla mentioned having media card is must to capture video in BlackBerry.

  • Video Software for 8310

Is there a software that can be downloaded to be able to use video on the 8310? Are what needs to happen where I can have video on my 8310 Blackberry Curve?

You can't have video on your curve until you upgrade to the 4.5 operating system although I wouldn't recommend downloading it until your carrier supports it.

Official BlackBerry Classic - Navigation Keys
When you purchase a smartphone for productivity, you want it to be familiar, easy to use and – of course – a powerhouse. These elements are what have, historically, been strengths for BlackBerry and after hearing specific customer feedback, are what John Chen has promised to deliver with the new BlackBerry Classic.
I’ve already managed to get my hands on a BlackBerry Classic and wanted to provide you dedicated Inside BlackBerry readers out there with a special early look at the device.
If you’ve used a BlackBerry Bold 9900 or even a BlackBerry Curve in the past, you’ll be delighted to find the navigation keys are back. This brings back a familiar element to enjoy alongside the powerful BlackBerry 10 software , allowing you to focus on what you do best. . . running the world (or your world, at least).
Watch this quick early look at the Classic Navigation Keys on the BlackBerry Classic.

As you can see in the video, the BlackBerry Classic is fast and intuitive with that familiar BlackBerry feel. For those of you who’re looking to rediscover the physical QWERTY keyboard, this is definitely built for you.
We’re excited about it, too. The word classic has been something of a theme around the office lately. You may recall that we asked for some of our biggest fans and celebrities to share what the term meant to them. Just last week, when we announced the BlackBerry Classic pre-order, we also allowed you to get involved with the launch by sharing why you need your BlackBerry using #INeedMyBB to fill in the BlackBerry Classic mosaic.
If you like what you see, let us know by sharing the mosaic, or placing an order for the device. Your comments, as always, are welcomed below as well.

  • Blackberry 8310 not showing reply or send in sms text options menu

I have a blackberry 8310. iam able to recieve sms text messages but when i click to on options, there is no "reply" option in the menu for me to be able to reply to the text. The chip works fine in other phones so that tells me something in the phone is not set right. There is no option for me to even compose and fresh sms text message. Please help?

    Here ya' go:
    1. Get a good backup of your device: BB device backup (I keep all my backups in a separate folder created for that purpose so they are always in one place and easy to find.)
    2. Download the most recent version of device software for your carrier: Downloading BB device software
    3. Reinstall the device software: Clean reload of device software
    4. Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart.
    5. Once you have the device OS successfully installed you will then need to reinstall any 3rd party apps you currently have on your device: Install applications using the app loader tool
    6. Complete another battery pull routine after each 3rd party app installation to reclaim memory and refresh your BB.
Let us know how it goes.

  • Can't have more than one application watch videos at the same time

The title isn't entirely accurate. I will write all my observations here.
I believe I started to notice these problems since the (recent) X11 update which seems to have happened in July. The subsequent Mesa updates may be related. These updates also caused X11 to crash sometimes, this issue got resolved after a patch update though, it seems.
Before I share my issues I have a Dell Vostro 1500 with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor (which includes the integrated GPU), using the Linux BFS 3.16.6-2-x86_64 kernel (plan to upgrade tomorrow morning while the internet is quick) and the packages listed in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_Graphics.
The most reproducible version of this problem I've had has to do with Chromium, VLC/MPlayer/MPV and to an extent Firefox.
To reproduce all I have to do is have Chromium open and watch some video on YouTube (HTML5 as I do not have version with Flash included). Then I open a video in VLC/MPlayer/MPV and one of two things can happen:
It can work on VLC, but then if I go back to the HTML5 video when I press play it tells me it has crashed and I should reload the tab.
VLC simply does not work and it plays the audio but no video, sometimes not even the audio.
This is VLC's output in a case where nor the audio or video work (and the HTML5 crashed as well):
    https://imgur.com/J897mMG,17xu7ip (album of 2 scrots)
I had to close VLC for the HTML5 to work, and if you're curious, yes I am listening to Weird Al as I write this. Most of the time I have to reset X11 (or even reboot) to be able to watch videos or listen to audio with VLC again. I have noticed that sometimes if I haven't watched a video for a long time VLC works again (or at least the audio does, sometimes the video).
OK so that's with video apps. This may be unrelated but I think it's worth mentioning here. With Firefox I run into an issue where Flash gets super glitchy, it gets stuck in one glitchy frame or it flashes between two glitchy frames, sometimes it shows the video in the background with the glitchy frames on top still flashing (so I get glimpses of the video), and other glitches.
Some of the ways I fix it are to reload the tab, open a new Firefox window and open the video there, reset Firefox, close Chromium's video tabs, amongst others. None of these work 100% of the time. Sometimes none of them work.
That is all that I can think of. I've been doing a couple of weeks of tests and normal usage in order to acquire this report so it'd be cool if there's a solution.
Thanks! If there are any questions or further information you need, feel free to ask.

    @kalos
Uninstalled everything PA, also uninstalled mangler which was the only thing that depended on PA. It didn't work anyway.
No pulseaudio --kill command so I couldn't run.
Checked systemd journal and there is no mention of PA this time.
Checked top, and grepped ps aux and there is no PA there either.
I also rebooted the machine completely just to make sure. However VLC and HTML5 have the same incompatibilities.

But the video and audio did work until I ran some HTML5 video, after which the audio worked, and then I opened it again and it didn't work...

I see. That's too bad. At least we're not alone.

  • BlackBerry 8310 O2-UK No BB maps icon.

Hello, i have BlackBerry 8310 branded to O2 UK. It seem that the BB Maps app is installed on it because when i check i Options>Advanced Options>Applications and it is there but i cant see the BB Maps icon in the menu or anywhere else. Is that locked from O2? Is there any way to remove that lock or to debrand the phone? And if it is not that then what is it ? Thanks for support!

Anyone have any idea at all??

  • Hi, Im having trouble with my Iphones sounds, it wont let me listen to music, watch videos, notify me if i get a text, basically everything that makes a sound is no longer working. The volume level you get when you play music isnt there, HELP?!

Hi, basically i have no sound at all on my Iphone, it doent notify me when i get a text, when someone rings, when i play music or watch videos, the volume slider that is usually present while watching videos or listening to music is no longer there at all, ive turned my phone on and off a couple of times now ive put headphones in and out to see if i had a sticky jack but still no luck Someone help??

And to clarify, these are all iTunes movie and music downloads, so there should not be a compatability issue. And no, the iPod did not come damaged from Apple, it was a hand-me-down from a friend who busted the internal speaker. But it's never done anything like this before. It just had crappy sound. And yes, the timing of the movies and music having issues is the same as the speaker dying. And no, this has NOTHING To do with music videos. I don't have any on any of our devices.

  • I have a Macbook Pro 13.3 i5 w/ no hdmi port. How can I connect my Mac to TV to watch video, photo ?  Is the Thunderbolt port a mini display port where I can use a mini display port to HDMI cable? If not, what are my options??

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.
What other options are available ?
Thanks a lot for your assistance.

Thunderbolt uses a Mini DisplayPort adapter to send video and audio to HDMI. I can watch videos streamed from my PC to my IPad 1 on the iPad screen.

I cannot watch videos streamed  from my PC to my Ipad on my TV using the HDMI adapter, I get sound but no picture although the picture shows on the Ipad screen.

  • I bought an HDTV cable to connect my MacBook Pro to my Sony TV via HDMI so I could watch videos from my computer on my TV.  My TV then shows my basic computer background but the videos won't play.  What am I doing wrong?

I bought an HDTV cable to connect my MacBook Pro to my Sony TV via HDML.  The TV recognizes my computer; I see my basic computer screen on the TV. I tried to watch videos on my TV but got nothing. (tried via my facebook vidoes and Youtube.  What am I doing wrong?

I've got a similar (but different!) problem: I have a MacBookPro3,1 running Mac OS X 10.6.8. I want to connect to my HD TV using a HDMI to DVI cable but the MBP cannot detect the TV display. What's the solution? Is this a bug in Mac OS X 10.6.8 ? Any ideas what I can do to make things work with the HDMI to DVI cable. (N.B.: I have separate audio cable running from the MBP to amplified speakers for the sound side of things. It’s the video that’s the problem!)
