WAVE 294 roles

hi
the question is simply...
can i implement a WAAS accelerator and Central Manager roles on a WAVE 294 appliance at same time, or do i need one appliance for each role?.
thanks!

Hi Julio,
Accelerator and Central manager roles are mutually exclusive, you can never implement both at the same time in one single device (regardless of the model)

  • Using WAVE-294-K9 as Central Manager - Cisco WAAS

    Hi all,
Please, currently I'm working on a small scale Cisco WAAS deployment. I want to know if it's possible to use the entry level Cisco
    WAVE-294-K9 as Central Manager.
Also about licensing, does this appliance model come with the enterprise level license
    Thanks

    Hi Abraham,
Yes, the WAVE-294 can also be configured as a central manager.
For the license, as with any other WAAS device, the enterprise license will have to be activated after the device is installed. As you probably know, WAAS uses a honor-based licensing system, so, no license verification will be done during the license activation.
    I hope this helps
    Daniel

  • Wave 294 not showing in central manger ver 5.1

FROM WAVE able to ping cm but not showing in cm dashboard
Sent from Cisco Technical Support Android App

    Hi,
With 'not showing' do you mean: not visible at all or not active and alive?
What happens if you try a deregister force on the wave and try to do an identity recovery afterwards?
    Best regards, Peter

  • WAVE CM redundancy

I will be very thankful if you  could help me on the WAVE CM redundancy configuration.
       I am having WAVE 294 x 2nos and WAVE 694 x 2nos , so i am using WAVE 294 as my CM and 694 as accelarator
I configuree one WAVE294 as primary CM and other as standby CM witrh commands
       central-manager role standby
       central-manager address <cm-primary-address>
Do i need to  configure anything else for this ?
But i am not able to see the standby CM in primary CM.There is no firewall's in between this CM and i able to ping each other.
I assigned diffferent IP addess for both primary and standby  , it should be same or different.
Switchover from primary to secondary and vice versa should be performed manually only  ?
    Your reply will be appreciated.

    Hello Prasan,
If the unit is not able to register with the Central Manager at all, then  there might be something in between blocking the management traffic, ( even if you can ping it)
can you try to telnet the stand byCM from the primary CM with source 443   ( management traffic goes via tcp port 443)
the answer should look like this:
    CM#telnet 20.20.20.2 443
    Trying 20.20.20.2...
    Connected to 20.20.20.2.
    Escape character is '^]'
if that is ok I suggest the following:
Step 1 Deregister the WAE from the Central Manager using the cms command:
WAE# cms deregister force        ( even if it is not showing up from the Central Manager)
This command cleans up any previous association to any other Central Manager.
Step 2 Configure the device mode as Central Manager using the device command:
    WAE# configure
    WAE(config)# device mode central-manager
You must reload the device to apply the changes.
Step 3 Configure the Central Manager role as standby using the central-manager command:
    WAE(config)# central-manager role standby
Step 4 Configure the address of primary Central Manager using the central-manager command:
    WAE(config)# central-manager address cm-primary-address
Step 5 Enable the CMS service using the cms command:
    WAE(config)# cms enable
if still not working I suggest to open a case with TAC to review the management error logs from the sysreport.
    good luck!

  • NEW WAAS APPLIANCES? WAVE-594

    Hi,
I was reading the release notes of the new Cisco WAAS Software version 4.4.1 and I saw something very interesting in the new features section:
Support for six new WAAS appliances—The WAVE-294, WAVE-594, WAVE-694, WAVE-7541, WAVE-7571, and WAVE-8541 WAAS appliances are introduced and supported. Additionally, this release supports the following four new interchangeable interface modules that are used in the new appliances: 4xGE copper, 8xGE copper, 4xGE fiber, 2x10GE fiber (supported only on WAVE-75xx and WAVE-85xx appliances). Most of these interface modules can be configured to operate either with WCCP or inline interception.
I couldn't find the data sheets for these new appliances or any other information about them on the web... only the release notes mention them and the config guide says we can now configure TenGigabitEthernet interfaces... I also found the hardware install guides but I want specs, throughput estimates...
Does anyone have any data sheets, specs or links to more info about these appliances? maybe the Cisco powerpoints that usually promote them and announce them to partners before they go public?
    Thanks,
    Patrick Moubarak

    Hi,
The new WAVE platforms will officially launch in September which could be anytime this month. As far the DRE cache sizing is concerned please see below some numbers:
    WAVE-7541 = 500 GB
    WAVE-7571 = 1,000 GB
    WAVE-8541 = 2,000 GB
For assistance with sizing and pricing out the new platforms, please work with your local ANS CSE

  • Configuration Examples of WAVE Inline implementations

I am implementing the first inline WAE device in our network.  But I am having difficulties finding examples of how the WAVE-294-K9 should be initially setup in preparation to register with the Central Manager.
I think I have a general idea of how it is supposed to work.  But I would like some examples to base my final decision on.
I have not been able to find in the docs where it describes where the primary interface should be located.  Below is how I understand the inline should be connected, please advise on configuration or possible other options.  Thanks! Rich

  • How do you export separate audio tracks for Pro Tools?

I need to give separate audio tracks to my sound mixer but am confused on how to do so in FCP X.
    So far I've:
Set the dialogue roles and stems for each character
Then I went into Master File>Settings
    Selected:
    "Format: Audio Only"
    "Audio File Format: Wav File"
"Roles as: Audio only as separate files"
    "Dialogue"
    Sara
    "Stereo"
And when I export and listen back to the wav file, there is either no audio or I hear select dialogue.
The only thing I can think of that I am doing wrong, is that each characters dialogue is not on the same track like the picture below. The tracks highlighted is of one character's dialogue that I am trying to export onto one linear track to export into Pro Tools.
Can tracks be assigned in FCP X? Or is there a crucial step that I am forgetting tthat explains why the audio for each character is not being exported.
    Thanks!

If you're dumping audio for ProTools, you should be able to export XML for use in PT. Haven't done it myself, but the option's been there for a while now. You should be able to find instructions easily.
If you want to stick with making Roles work, I suggest making sure the roles are assigned properly to each clip. Kind of a super pain in the neck, to go one by one, but ... that's the way. There are key commands for the three default roles, but if you've created custom ones then it's more time consuming. Is that 'Sara' one a custom Role that you've created?
My only thought is you have compound audio clips there. Maybe go in and set the roles on the individual files inside the compound clips. Dunno...
The visual organization shouldn't matter (one track above another). That's the X way.
((In your picture, you say you have some files selected. When I select, I get a yellow border; yours are light green and dark green. What is that?))

  • WAAS management and CM

    Hi guys.
We are going to install a wave-7541-k9  and a wave 294 (CM) in the central site and wave 674 in the remote locations.
I know that´s possible to assign a specific physical interface for management purposes only, but I have some questions.
We thought in this way because we are not able to route the customer´s IP within our management environment and we also don´t want to get our management IP being routed within the customer´s environment.
We own the routers in the locations. The WAAS must optimize/accelerate traffic for 2 routers in each location.
Basically the idea is to use the primary interface for production traffic and also as source for the CM connection.
Then, use the other physical interface available to configure a /30 and connect it directly to one of our CPEs which is gone be the management.
The primary interface is going to be connected to the customer´s switch and we will use WCCP for redirection.
The management interface is going to be connected directly to one of our routers.
The plan is to monitor the equipment via that directly connected link (polling made from our monitoring tools and also as source of the traps).
I want to make sure the IP chosen by CM is the production interface´s IP and not the management one.
Also the CM interfaces must be set in the same way (one for production and one for management).
If there any best practices for that situation, recomendations or anything you guys consider valid, I would appreciate
    Thanks

  • WAAS Upgrade CM path from 4.4.7 WAE-512 to 5.4 vCM

I have a deployed WAAS system running 4.4.7 and the old WAE hardware is all on the EOL clock or not supporting 5.4 at all.   The budge fairies had money at the end of the year so I've got new WAVE boxes and vCM 5.4 DVDs to deploy.
My question is what is the upgrade process for the CMs?
Can I simply spin up  two 5.4 vCMs as a secondary CMs to the 4.4.7 primary CM on a WAE-512, then make one the primary?  That would assume that a 5.4 secondary could sync to and then take over directly from a 4.4.7 primary.  That's the bit that I have doubts about.
Or would I have to start with vCMs at 4.4.7 to get them to sync, then take over as primary and upgrade them?  Is there a 4.4.7 vCM image?
If that's a dead end, I saw another discussion about downgrading a WAVE-294.   I'm thinking one could be downgraded to 4.4.7, joined as a secondary CM, promoted to primary, and then upgraded as a stepping stone to vCMs at 5.4.  Then the '294 would be deployed back as accelerator as originally intended.  Any pitfalls with this?
Or is there a simpler path that I'm missing entirely?
Also can anyone confirm that the RJ-45 console ports on the WAVE-*94 have the same pin-out as traditional Cisco switch RJ-45 console ports?
    Thanks.

    Hi Edward,
For the upgrade process, you'll have to follow this procedure :
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/waas/v541/release/note/waas541xrn.html#pgfId-171257
So either down grade your vCM to 4.4.7 (this requires that it is a vCM-100 or -2000)
    - there probably is a vCM 4.4.7 image out there somewhere, but these could be hard to get.
    - or just use the "copy ... install" on your vCM, to get it downgraded.
or use the 294 method (same methodology applies)
But as I see it, there is no need to play around wit ha secondary CM, you don't need the CM to ensure optimization, when things are up and running.
You can easily change a CM to an accellerator by configuration and a reload, unless we're taking vWAAS, where the ova image is locked.
remember to take a backup of your CMS database and place it somewhere else, before starting upgrading.
    Best Regards

  • WAAS 5.3.1 support iSCSI?

Hi, We have 3 units WAE294 and 1 for CM another 2 are located on central site and DR site for our V5000 storage data replication..
Does WAAS 5.3.1 is support iSCSI traffic? need special setting?
    Regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
WAE294 (or actually WAVE294) requires WAAS version 4.4 and later, so 4.0.19 is a nogo.
And to be honest I don't think replication mode would have helped you, basically it's just another way of carving the ressources on the WAE box.
You'll have to investigate, why it disconnects.
Does the traffic gets optimized ?
But it's a lot of traffic to transfer across a 2 Mbps line, unoptimized it would take around 900 hours, with minimal delay to transfer 800GB of data.
Does the replication ever finishes ? - Or is it a constant running task with only changes, so it's not a full transfer.
The WAVE-294 has around 55 MB of disk spaces set aside for DRE cache, so you'll have to look for cache eviction (age of DRE content).

    Hi,
The accelerator is failing to perform a wellness update within the allotted time. That is
why we see keepalive failures. The implications are that some connections may not be
getting optimized properly by the AO, and thus optimization performance may be reduced.
I don't think there is any counter for number of keep alive failure messages you get but you can
see if Keepalive Timeout counter is increasing.
You can find this counter under "policy engine statistics".
Keepalive Timeout : 65--->You can check if this value is increasing during the time you get this message.

    Hi user,
Can you give us some information on the version you are using and your security setup? Are you using an external security provider? Because to me it sounds that you are using an external LDAP server.

  • Cannot find Fiori Backend Role

    Dear expert,
I'm implementing Fiori wave 2 Leave Request Approval and Purchase Order Approval for customer.
The customer is using ERP EHP6, thus we installed GBAPP002 and GBHCM003 on the backend.
Both the components are at the latest patch.
However cannot find the pre-defined backend role in PFCG:
    SAP_GBHCM_LEAVE_APPROVAL_MGR  and
    SAP_MM_PO_APV_APP
Is there any important step that I miss?  Masayuki Sekihara
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Chloe.
Please check the latest support level package.
You might be on an older one.

  • Script or Program for massive role changes

    Hi,
does anybody know some script to execute massive changes in SAP ROLE??
    Ciao

You can try a bash script. Example:  This one converts wav to mp3:
    #!/bin/bash
    for i in "$@" ; do
    lame --r3mix "$i" "`basename "$i" .wav `.mp3"
    done
    ./wav2mp3.sh *.wav
will convert all wav in the current directory to mp3.  You can change the lame line if you have other formats.

  • I want to create a "clean" sawtooth wave with my own inserted array.

I have a PXI module with a fgen5411. I can make a arbitrary waveform with my own array. that's not the problem. The real problem is that if I insert a waveform array with 4096 steps, Labview divides the steps and the 4096 steps are no longer 4096 steps but less. Because of this the created steps of the sawtooth wave excists one time out of 4 points, and the other time out of 5 points and so on.
I use the "create arbitrary waveform" and the "app sequence waveforms" VI's. And because I use the create arb waveform VI, I have to devide my array values with 10000 so that my scale comes between the values 1 and 1.

    Hello Ben,
I solved the problem I had with the number of points. The problem was that I was using 1/5 part of the create arb waveform scale(between 1 and 1) so that labview generated five points per step.
Now I can generate a sawtooth with the full 12 bit resolution. But the problem now is that the sawtoothsweep begins negative and ends positive. This is strange because the array I load from file excists out of positive numbers. What I want is a sweep beginning at 2 Volt and ends at at least 8 Volt. I tried to change the offset of the app sequence waveform but this did not work. The offset does change, but it can not be made positive. I also tried to devide my array so that it fits in the positive scale of the create arb waveform
(between 0 and 1), but this also did not work. Is it possible to make a positive sweep with the 5411 in ARB mode?
I send you screenshots from the part of my program. First I load a array from file and devide this by 5000. Then I create a waveform and load this into the app sequence waveform.
Ben, I hope you know what I am doing wrong, because I dont.
