Wave reconstitution

Hello
I am using a wave generator to simulate a 200 Hz wave and a NI acquisition board is used to acquire the signal.
I think that according to Nyquist theorem, I must, at least, acquire at 2x the frequency of the wave.
Thus, I'm acquiring, in continuous samples, at 1000Hz. I checked for different number of samples and only 20 seemed ok for wave reconstitution in excel.
When I try to acquire two waves simultaneously, (both 200 HZ) I can't seem to manage...
I'm not very confident with acquiring at high frequency...
Hope someone can help me
I attached my vi
Thanks in advance

Hi,
When you said that you can't seem to manage, what did you mean?  Did you have an error?  Did you buffer overflow?  Some questions and comments that I have.
1. What kind of hardware do you have?  We need to know the capability of the hardware.
2. In the code, you are doing a continuous acquisition at 2k for 2 channels, 2000 samples/s/channel.  You set the number of samples to read as 200.  That means you will read 200 samples at every loop count.  What worries me is that you have a lot of analysis code in the acquisition loop.  If the analysis code slow down the loop enough, you can have a buffer overflow.  One thing that you can try is to do two parallel loops, one for acquisition and one for analysis.  From the acquisition loop, you can queue the data onto a queue structure and dequeue the data in the analysis loop.
Yik

  • How do I get Logic to stop looking for a specific .wav file?

I recently imported a project I started in GarageBand into Logic Pro.  Once in Logic, I edited and added to the project then saved it as a Logic project file.  I deleted the original project from GarageBand.  Now, when I open the Logic file, Logic is still looking for .wav files that were used in the original GarageBand file.  None of these files are actually needed in my project.  Is there a way that I can get Logic to stop looking for these .wav files?
    Thanks for any help!

    Do a cleanup.

  • Logic 8 Crashing on startup after I attempted to install Waves Version 5

    Hello
I tried to install Waves 5 Platinum plug-ins and now my once-stable Logic 8 running Leopard on a G5 dual 2 gig is crashing on start-up. If I hold down the control key when launching Logic 8, I can get Logic to run OK, but every time I try using Core Audio it crashes. I've already trashed all Waves plug-ins. Pasted in below is the crash log and I'd appreciate any help. Thanks, Craig

Hi and thanks for all the prior advice.
Things have now changed now that Waves (a few days ago) released their new 5.9.7 version.
However, after downloading and installing that version my my G5 dual 2ghz, Waves is still apparently screwing up my Core Audio.
Prior to install the new Wave software, all my DAWs - Protools HD 7.4, Logic 8, Digital Performer 5.13, as well Garageband, were working fine. After installing Waves 5.9.7, all of those programs crash on startup at the Core Audio part (as far as I can determine that's the point of crashing; Logic 8 shows that information).
Here's an interesting piece: I have a backup OS harddrive partition that I use for troubleshooting. This morning I installed Waves 5.9.7 on it and it worked fine with Garageband (the only DAW I have installed on that partition). So I know Waves works with Leopard on my G5, but doesn't get along with my main OS on the main drive.
I'm thankful for Time Machine as the only way I've been able to regain use of my DAWs is a complete harddrive restore via Time Machine. That program's amazing and works great. I can just go back to the hour or so prior to installing Waves 5.9.7 and restore the drive. The restore process takes about 3 hours but once it's done, everything is back to normal.
Appreciate any help and comments; I'd really like to start using Waves again. I suspect there must be a preference file or some legacy Waves file somewhere screwing up the new Waves plug-ins.

  • Auditioning wav loops at correct tempo

    Hi Forum
I have been a Protools user for several years, but because of all the usual annoyances with PT I have decided to join the Logic camp, just today in fact.
However one feature I am immediately missing is the protools equivalent of "Calculate Elastic Analysis" in the workspace browser. If you are not familiar with PT, this enables you to preview wav loops at the correct tempo for your session.
In Logic I can navigate to my loops via the browser, but previewing them just plays the original tempo of the loop, not at the tempo of my session. I can of course drag it into the arrange window and fix it, but I miss the immediacy of the PT approach.
PT has a process called "Manual Indexing" that goes through all of your sample collection and extracts metadata such as tempo to make this process work. Is there perhaps an equivalent in Logic I haven't found yet? Do I have to convert all of my samples to Apple loops perhaps? but how would I do that?
    Hope someone can help.
    DH

  • Can not see wave form in arrange window  logic 9 Please help

I have been using Logic for 3 months now...mostly just importing old wave files from past protools sessions.  Everything was working fine until I created a new session to record audio.  I record the audio at a nice level...I hit playback...I can hear it fine but I can't see the wave forms.  I can see it in the sample editor.  I've searched around and found the same problem in the past on some forums......they say to trash preferences...  I went to my mac drive...library...preferences  and nothing  I have no files labeled  com.apple.logic.pro  now I'm lost....the funny thing is... when I zoom in horizontal ...the wave form shows but it makes the track way too large.  Any help would be great.  Thanks

    In Logic:  Preferences/Audio
What is the "Recording Delay" parameter set to?
It should be zero, default is zero. If it's set to a positive or negative Logic will often not show the wavforms. If that's it, it's one of the long standing bugs in Logic.

  • Unable to add wav audio clips to Audio1 timeline

I am mystified as to why Encore is not letting me place specific .wav files into the Audio 1 timeline. Encore will let me put the files into the Audio 2 timeline, just not Audio 1. The wav files that cannot be placed in the Audio1 timeline have been rendered as together as dual audio/video streams. Other files that have been rendered as combined audio/video streams do allow the audio to go into Audio 1?Then, of course, I can only hear the audio from timeline 1 once I've rendered. Is there some obvious reason why these wavs will go into Audio 2 but not audio 1? Or is there a way to render out so that both Audio 1 and Audio 2 are both audible? Right now, it seems to be an either/or situation where I can hear audio1 or audio2, but not both.
I'm stumped and would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks once again with your help with the Audio Effect - Fill Right/Left, worked perfectly.
Just wondering weather I might be able to ask you another question about Adobe Premiere Pro V7. I'm in the final stages of finishing my cousins husbands funeral video which I'm putting together for her and the two kids. I'm trying to put Digital Hotcakes Film FX 9 over some overlay I'm inserting. I'm reading the manual on how to do this and it aint doing what it is supposed to do. When I put my video on the Video 1 timeline, and the effect on the Video 2 timeline directly above, and then into Video Effect - Keying - Screen Key - drag & drop onto effect in video 2, thereatically I should have my vision play with the effect. All that happens is the effect plays without my vision. Is there something I'm not doing right? I've played around for hours with this and found the Luma Key works ok for some effects, but placing my vision in a 3D projector animation using the screen key doesn't work as the manual says. Do you have any suggestions?????
    Cheers

  • USB-6009 Sine Wave

    Hi,
I am new to LabView and am having some trouble. I need to input two sine waves into a USB-6009. I have a voltmeter that should read the output. Two of the problems that I have had thus far: I can only use "On Demand" in DAQ Assistant and even when I throw the DAQ Assistant into a while loop I still do not get a readout on my voltmeter. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

That is confusing. You say you need to input 2 sine waves into a 6009 and that to me implies that you are doing a DAQmx Read. Then you say you have a voltmeter to read the output. That implies you are doing a DAQmx Write. If you are really doing a write from the 6009, then on demand is, of course your only choice. As the specs clearly indicate, the output of the 6009 is strictly software timed so you would need to pass a sine wave point by point and then you would have very little control over the frequency. And, again as the specs clearly state, the fastest output rate you could expect is 150Samples/sec.

  • Why the wave is disvisible?? I used measurement studio 7.0.1 in my existing VC++ 6.0 project

I have an existing Microsoft Visual C++ project  MyProj. I  have installed the NI measurement studio 7.0.1 on my computer yesterday.
I have added a CWGraph control on a dialog of MyProj via "Project-> Add To Project->Components and Controls...->Registered ActiveX Controls->CWGraph Control".
It created 22 classes such as "CCWGraph/CCWPlots/CCWPlot/CCWAnnotations......." in my MyProj,

  • I can't see Loops in Acid WAV format on Logic's loop Browser

    Hi everybody,
I recently bought a bunch of loops in Acid WAV format that claims to be compatible with Apple Loops. I can see them and even I can hear them on my finder but they don't show up in Logic's loops browser which makes them useless...
They are placed in the correct file, I'm sure of that... I am suspicious of their real compatibility
Can anyone help me with this problem?
    Thanks
    Fran

I'm sure it's just a slip of the keyboard, but I presume by "they are placed in the correct file" you mean "folder". Just checking — which folder is that? On which drive?
There are lots of reasons why 3rd-party Loops might not work at first, including permissions problems, unrecommended locations, still being compressed or archived…
"Get Info…" (Command-I) on one of the files & see if it's locked & if you have read/write permission.
Let us know all the above stuff, & we can take it from there.

  • How do I change the key of a wav file?

I'm using Apple Loops Utility and the wav file plays the correct key & tempo there. But when I save it, and open it up in LE or add it into the arrangement, it's playing the original key? The only thing that is correct is the tempo. Can you change the key and save the change using Apple Loops Utility?

I'm confused. Are you saying that in Apple Loops Utility the wav plays in the key and tempo of that wave, but when you add the same wav to LE it plays in a different key? You said in LE it plays in the "original" key. Seems like that is what you would expect. I would think it would play in the "original" key in both ALU and LE.

  • Placing 24/192 WAV files on iTunes for playback through Wadia 170 iTranspor

I record live music on a Sound Devices 722 digital audio recorder at 24/192 as WAV files. I can import the 24/192 WAV file into iTunes on a Mac and the bit rate is displayed as 9216 kps. This makes sense since 24x192=9216. When I click on the song in iTunes it plays back at the correct tempo.
I bought a Wadia 170 iTransport since it says it will output bit perfect digital files. I'd love to hear my recordings this way over my sound system. I understand that this would chew up drive space real fast on an iPod. However . . .
I can't get my iPod to accept the 9216 kps song files. I went to set iTunes / Preferences / Advanced / Importing to WAV but the options for sample rate only go up to 48.0 kps and the bit rate up to 16-bit.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to overcome this will be appreciated.

    Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
    Anyway, thank you,
    Chris

  • Broadcast Wav files from PT to Logic not moving to original record position

Okay, my system needs upgrading but I'm stable (at least I think I am til now!) I have a TV network sending me broadcast wav files from PT. They shoot their video on a 24 hour clock. I'm to be editing and mixing (in Logic) their audio tracks from PT and send them back as broadcast wav files for them to sync back to their video. After years and years of recording and producing music, this TV world is a first for me. 2 issues at hand that are causing trouble.
NUMBER 1: The wav files will not snap to original record position. I keep getting an error message about "out of range" and of all craziness with a negative SMPTE number. ??? The prompt suggests an offset error. But there isn't I can find. Start time is set to 0:0:0.0.0 here and at the TV studio. They film at 29.97d. That matches as well. Sample Rate is correct at 48k 24bit. I've uncovered every thing I can think of. I did have to set the tempo down to 5 BPM in order to see a full 24 hours in SMPTE.
NUMBER 2: I can't figure out how to see the timestamp start time of the audio files in the audio window. I have every option turned on in the VIEW option, I can see length, but I see nothing about start time of original record time. Am I missing something simple here? Seems like a very standard option that should be easily accessible. It would allow me to prepare the location on the time line.
Overall, I'm hoping I can do all the above with my current rig but realize that the clock is ticking toward a whole new system with Logic 9.
Help please. Don't want to lose this client.

Sure do appreciate everyone's willingness to help. Setting SMPTE start to 24:00:00.0.0 didn't work either. I confirmed with the studio manager at the TV station also that they run a 24hour clock with 0 being midnight.
I'm really hoping that the error is on their end.
*It would help me if anyone knew how to VIEW the Timestamp info attached to the wav files. That would at least give me an approximate idea of where they should be.*
I'm supposed to be editing and mixing the voice dialog from numerous different scene takes that were shot throughout a day of filming. It's critical that I can see all these different takes that were captured over hours of open recording. Some of the files are almost 4 hours long. It's a big project and I'm sure hoping I can stay inside Logic to get it all done with excellence.

  • Wav files on external drive will not work in Apple Loops

When I import wav files (from Nu Jazz Funk library) by dropping on the AL browser from an external drive, Apple Loops insists on copying them to my system drive (no option to make use current location). If I manually make an alias, the files show up, but play at the wrong tempo. I even tried letting AL make the copy, then moving that to an external drive & making an alias of that. No go. BTW, aif files work fine.

Yeah, that's because Apple Loops are .AIF files, not .WAV.

  • Tempo problems with imported wav files

Hey everyone, sorry if there's a quick fix for this in the forums that I couldn't find, but I've been having some tempo problems with imported .wav files.
Long story short, my system couldn't handle playing all the tracks for a song while recording drums, so I bounced out an mp3 of the song and put it in a new Logic file so my drummer could just play along to that as I recorded him. Unfortunately, the original song is at 167 bpm, but I forgot to change the bpm in the new Logic file with the .mp3 file of the song to 167 bpm, so it was left at the default 120 bpm.
So, the drums were recorded at the correct 167 bpm, but Logic thinks that those new drum .wav files should be played at 120 bpm, so when I import my drum tracks back into the original file, they do not play correctly at all.
I could get record it all again, but I wanted to check if there was a way I could salvage what I already have, since my drummer lives about an hour away right now and can't just come over whenever he wants.
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.

    Hi,
First, do not use MP3 in Logic, the sound quality is less than AIFF, WAV or CAF, and Logic has to decode it for playback, making it a heavier burden on the CPU than an uncoded audiofile, such as AIFF, WAV or CAF.
Secondly, audio files are independent of Logic's tempo. If you bounce down an audio file in any format (other than Apple Loop), it will play back at the same speed, +regardless of Logics' tempo setting+, either at recording or playback. Logic doesn't 'think' anything. The BPM is only important to MIDI tracks, or to the spacing between audio files. The audio files themselves *are not affected* by the tempo setting. If you import an audio file of tempo 167 into a 120 BPM project, the file will still play at 167, only Logic will indicate the wrong bar positions.

  • Fake aiff and real aiff from wav ?

    1) When in garageband if I just batch convert an entire folder of wav to aiff with Apple loop utility even if all the wav loops have different tempo and key all will have one meta data or information which will not hold true for all loops.....so isnt there a way later once its in GB loops to detect the real tempo of an aiff file in garageband and edit its tag and metadata from within.....?
    2) It would be bliss if all the wav loops I have get converted to real aiff with correct key and tempo but does that mean it will have to be done one by one if all loops have different properties ....there is no other shortcut....?
    3) can a loop in GB be opened in Apple loops utility from right clicking or something else like it does in logic....?

Thanks Edgar ,in response to your 2nd answer..........
but if I don't assign the tempo of every wav and save it as Aiff just with some tags ,I have noticed the tempo and pitch of the beat goes haywire according to the project tempo when played in the browser as it is set to some incorrect tempo metadata
    1) I have a question... if we don't put key and tempo information in a loop what is the use of having an aiff loop..because it won't match any tempo or pitch in GB timeline ?..why not simply work with wav files.....or is it so that no matter if the tempo and pitch information is not filled in Apple loop utility any aiff loop created will automatically detect it and fit your loop according to project setting in GB ? which although didn't happen with me....loops went haywire,if I didn't pay attention to their real tempo and key in Apple loop utility.
    2) the BPM slider and key box at the bottom of the Apple loop utility if set incorrectly or not according to the bpm automatically listed in 'info about the loop'.......changes the tempo and pitch of the wav saved as aiff......so isn't it a big concern to list tempo and pitch of evey wav.....?
