Way Out Of Whack!

I just purchased an Mp3 Bible from Audible.com. It consists of 37 separate downloads. After it goes into iTunes it is completely out of order, i.e. Luke, Psalms, Acts, Genesis, etc.
All I want is to get the books of the Bible in their original order. It is the same on my hard drive as well. I created a playlist for it in the hopes that I could rearrange correctly from there = nothing........
I alphabatised the books on the HD ( a-Genesis, b-Exodus) re-imported to iTunes, that didn't work either. Should I have numbered the books instead?
I'm so burned out with trying to make this right that I have only deleted the a,b,c's in front of the titles on my HD and haven't the mind to try numbers. Thought I'd ask before going through all this again..

There is probably some minor spelling inconsistency triggering the two covers, or it might be that not all the files have actually been marked as part of a compilation. My article at http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp deals with the various causes and cures of multiple covers. However, if you want the New & Old Testaments to appear as two differnt works then simply label them accordingly via the Album field. You shouldn't need to use the compilation flag, but iTunes might be happier if you put something into the Artist & Album Artist fields. The album artist needs to be consistent across all files and the compilation flag should be set if the artist field is not the same for all files.

Midi settings way out of whack in Logic Pro

I have some very odd looking "region: midi thru" settings when I open Logic Pro X or create a new track. Even if I have chagned the settings, when I launch the program and open a project, I get things like Q-Swing: +3029%, Transpose: 110%, Delay: +1953458288 ticks, Q-Strength: +12242% and so on. I will go through and even these out, usually seeting everything to 0. But when I open it up the next time, they are the same.
I'm running a brand new iMac (not even a week old as of Sept 5, 2013) OS X 10.8.4.
I'm using an m-audio midi controller with Logic Pro X (worked fine with 9, and I don't know if it is the issue or not).
I've never had this probelm before. Anyone else experience this and have a solution? I'm doing nothing differently than in Logic Pro 9, which didn't have this issue as far as L can recall.
If you need more info, let me know. I am not an expert at Logic Pro, but I have been dabbling with midi for over 20 years (not a real pro at it either). This is a bit of a new one for me.

You're the first person that's reported this problem where it wasn't related to a project or template created in Logic 9.
You might try deleteny the LX preference files, the'yre rebuilt the nect time Logic starts.
Delete both the .plist and .cs file and see if that helps.
Delete the Logic 10 preferences file AND the shared control surfaces file.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
Press the Go button.
-Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this.
If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro.
then delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.

Video Levels out of whack

Can anyone clue me in as to why my levels look fine in the FCP waveform but not on my external waveform? They are way out of whack; whites at 120 IRE and blacks at -5 IRE, when they are in limits on the FCP waveform. Idiot check has been checked - the external WF is setup on the FCP bars to the proper calibration.
One clue in this mystery is my baseline black level (the sync pulse I guess - the lines that should stay at -40 and 0) jump up and down from shot to shot.
I'm working with SDI in and out for tape. The WF is using the Composite out and has a Sigma reference signal going to it.
I thought I had the answer to this already but have since discovered this oddness of the baseline jumping all over and I don't want to go lifting the black levels when the baseline seems to be the root of the problem.
Any help from you engineer type people out there is appreciated.

First, open the Io Control Panel and select the radio button in the Analog Output tab to add setup (+7.5). What does that do for your black levels on the external scope?
I suspect what you're seeing is the difference between digital and analog levels.
Report back and we'll go from there.

Aspect ratio out of whack...

I find occasionally when I import a movie into Logic 9 the aspect ratio goes out of whack. The same clip opens fine in Quicktime. I can uncheck 'Keep Aspect Ratio' in the video settings and rough the ratio into something that looks normal again but I have to do the same thing everytime I open the project. Is there a way to work around that?

I have a similar problem with clips shot in "cinema" mode in a JVC camcorder. I have been able to edit them in the older iMovie HD version, but not in iMovie 09. If Apple doesn't address this problem, I'm not going to have much use for the 09 version, which is too bad because it has desirable features.
If anyone has found a work-around, please let us know.

Colors in Pages out of whack?

After I installed OSX 10.6.7 and its combo update, Pages is TOTALLY out of whack -- black text comes out white, colors come out all wrong, when I highlight text it comes out some odd purple lilac-like color.. And there seems to be no way to change this! Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hold down CONTROL OPTION CMD and click 8. This is a toggle for black on white or white on black.

When downloading a large PDF file, firefox stops after some of file and hangs up. Only way out is to close browser or power down. Internet explorer will complete download of same PDF file.

For example, go to irs.gov and try to download 1040 instructions as a PDF file. Firefox hangs up after part of the file is downloaded, but will not complete the download. The only way out is to close the browser (Firefox). Sometimes the only way out is to power down computer and reboot. I'm running Windows XP Professional. My computer has plenty of memory and disc space, so that is not the problem. When I use Internet Explorer (UGH!) it takes a while, but the very same pdf file will completely download.

Macbook pro 10.6.8 FREEZING SCREEN and no way out of it

I had a crash and managed to recover with the OS X 10.6 DVD loaded onto a external hard drive
but now my lap top works a while and then just freeze on me and the only way out is to hold down the power button and that has to be bad getting worse?
Any one have something I could try to exercise this demon out of my computer please?

If no malware was found, make sure there's enough free disk disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your desktop or open the Finder, right or control click startup disk in the Sidebar on the left then click Get Info.
You'll see Available and Capacity. Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
If disk space is not an issue. the startup disk may need repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, start up from your install disc while holding down the C key. From there you can repair the disk and reinstall OS X.

With a single user license, you can install Acrobat on maximum two computers, say, your laptop at work and desktop at office.
But, you cannot use Acrobat on both the machines simultaneously.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from the old machine, then install and activate the software on the new OS with the same serial key.

LG Monitor and New Mac Pro -- Colours out of Whack

I have an LG L226WT and a 20" Apple Cinema Display connected to a brand new Mac Pro.
Both monitors (in the same configuration) were running on my old PowerMac G5 before.
The Cinema Display works fine, colours are good, so is light etc.
The LG first had ghosting (severe at that) and this morning the colours are totally out of whack. Looking at some photos I had taken a week ago and colour corrected on the G5 now look like a child painted them (on the LG monitor, on the Cinemadisplay they are fine).
It's not the graphics card either. If I take a screenshot on the LG and look at it on the Cinemadisplay the colours etc. are correct, but the LG is right now pretty useless to me. I tried to calibrate it but the end result is pretty much the same, it just does not seem to want to play nice.
I don't think it is the DVI cable, as it is securely screwed in and in the same location as on the PowerMac, turning the monitor off / on seems to resolve the shadow problem but not the colour issue.
Anybody have experienced this? Any tips outside of trashing the LG and buying a new screen?

The ghosting issue is still one when I first turn the computer on. I found that I have to turn the monitor off and on and it resolves the issue.
I also found the source of my colour problem, it comes down to the LG "resetting" itself to some "automatic improvement" or whatever you want to call it, which completely messed with the tones. After I turned that "feature" off it worked well, but man, that took me three days to figure out.

Sometimes when panning with the hand tool, it zooms way out instead of just moving the canvas

So normally when you hold the space key and drag, it just moves the canvas, but every now and then, seemingly randomly, it zooms way out and shows a little box which is the size and shape of the area of canvas I was previously looking at. If I move the box and let go of space, it zooms to that location, but all I wanted was to move normally. I don't think I've ever wanted the zoom out, move, then zoom back in behavior. What causes that? How do I make it stop?

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Firefox screen blurry and unreadable (as if way out of focus); don't know how to correct. Browser is unusable. Disappointed in Mozilla cust svc.

As stated, Firefox screen is blurry and unreadable (as if way out of focus). One day, it worked; the next, it did not. Not sure if there was an upgrade as I did not request or accept one. All I know is Firefox is unusable and I've had to switch to another browser just to get online. You cannot do anything in Firefox because everything is illegible.

In your first post you mention you have done a reset and a restore. Those are the last two processes in the user troubleshooting. If those do not work, then the last thing is to go to the Genius Bar. You say you went to Apple and they opened the phone and re-seated the connectors? That sounds unusual, because if there was a hardware issue,they would replace the hardware. You say you cannot get a replacement, is that because you are out of warranty? An out of warranty replacement is only $199 plus tax. It seems to me since you mention the fact you need to press hard to get the screen to react there is something going on with the hardware. If this problem has been going on for over a year, have you been reporting this to Apple. You say you cannot get a replacement and you are on the second phone, I wonder why they are denying you a replacement. Is there something you are not telling us??
