WD ABAP and PORTAL: Logging the user out

I have a requirement where I need to logout the user of my web dynpro abap application(the application resides in portal).
I need to log him out of portal.
How would I do that?

Deleting the Authentication in Logoff
When you log off from some applications, the authentication of the user may also have to be reset in the browser, which means that a new authentication is needed when the application is called again. If basic authentication is used for the logon, this information can only be deleted in the browser with Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 and higher.

If an SSO2 cookie is used for the authentication, you can delete the cookie with JavaScript:

I have created one Deployable Proxy and based on that i have created Web Based (WAR) project. to consume the proxy i have created Servlet based java file which invokes Web services. Based on this WAR project i created EAR application which deploys on J2EE server.
I am facing issue while accessing Portal Logged in user in my Servlet Class in WAR project so can you please provide inputs for how we can access Portal Logged in user in our Servlet class? also how we can access LDAP detailes of portal Logged inuser ?
I tried to fetch the Logged in user from servlet request but i can't access it giving me null value. Following is the method details that i am using in my servlet.

We are on BI 7. SP16.
When i run that in se38, i am getting the following information: No default in RSPOR_T_PORTAL and no user parameter RSPOR_DEFAULT_PORTAL" when i clicked on yes(tickmark), view BI_Content of web template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN(A) is displayed
There are two options with check box are present 1. 30 template present (Unchecked) 2. BI- Template Present (checked), and a big XML code is displayed.
When i executed in browser mode, it says Windows cannot find'/irj/servlet/prt/portal............... make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. to serch for a file, click the start button, and then click search"
What does that mean?

@ BDAqua > I tried your suggestion but no luck. holding opt+command just gave me a blue screen and it rebotted, pushing the disk out of the drive. Yes, the macbook has 1 gb of ram. I realize that the min req. call for 2 gb of ram so i've got an order in for another dimm to put into the machine. Thanks for your suggestions.
@ a_brody > Yes. The machine was plugged into a power source. The disk promts you to do that and i recall aspect this form other installs. Thanks for the reminder tho! ( btw your second post is like greek to me man!)

And yes previously i've been told by Apple that I needed the Box Set (not the family pack. i am using the family pack for OS Snow Leopard) to upgrade my 10.4.11 mac - they never mentioned adding ram but i figured that out on my own and an apple specialist recommended it when i purchased Snow Leopard and confirmed that I coul duse the Snow Leopard to upgarde from Tiger (10.4.11). I've also read extensively (as i said above) that it isn't necessary (always) to buy the box set. Several 10.4.11 users report having upgraded using the Snow Leopard upgrade disk only (not the Box Set) without trouble on intel macs (also see the apple link i posted). So i'm just ondering how they did it and i cannot.

Closing the browser in InfoView doesn't log the user off.

In Business Objects XI R2 Infoview, closing the browser in InfoView doesn't log the user off no matter how you answer the subsequent popup question "A window has closed. Log off as well?" Is there a fix for this somewhere?

In InfoView, with Performance Management installed, user sessions fail to be released immediately when the Log Off button is clicked.
If you click the logoff button in Infoview and watch the address bar you will notice that it actually goes to another page called default.htm. It does this really fast. That page is located at C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat\webapps\businessobjects\enterprise115\desktoplaunch\InfoView. Remove both the default.htm and index.html and reboot your Tomcat server. Open a browser and go to Infoview. Once you have gotten in to Infoview click the log off button. You will get and error from the tomcat server and that is because the page does not exist anymore. If you look in CMS under servers and CMS you will also notice it dropped the session as well. So if you create another Default.htm page of your own and just redirect to another page it all should work.
However I did notice an interesting ADAPT in CHF15 :-

After a quiz can you show the questions and answers for the user to review from passing the quiz

After taking a quiz, is there a way to show the questions and answers for the user to review from passing the quiz.
And the ones who has failed the quiz would be directed to the first slide again to take the quiz over.

I see that information about adding the review quiz button but on that last slide where it shows results, I want it jump back to slide 1 but it jumps to the first question of the slide. Is there a way around that?

Repair your QuickTime.
Control Panel > Programs n Features > highlight QuickTime and click CHANGE then REPAIR.

Install Discoverer AND Portal in the same Middletier Instance

Hallo,
when installing AS 10.1.2 i have several install options.
When choosing BI / Discoverer i have no Portal in the middletier after the installation finished.
I could install another middletier instance with using the portal option but i want to have Portal installed as component in the existing middletier.
How can i achive this ? (install a single componant into an existing middletier)

You cannot do that. You have to do a fresh install of 10.1.2.0.2 and choose Business Intelligence and Forms install type. This install type provides you the ability to install both Discoverer and Portal in the same Oracle Home. Seems like you installed Discoverer from BI CD, which gives you the ability to just install Discoverer. Instead use the EE download or Oracle Application Server main CDs from the CD pack.

Yes ATT hides the APN settings so when you try to use a st sim it automatically reads on AT&T network so the APN settings are hidden and cannot be accessed however you can go to apn.straighttalk.com on you'r phone and select APN/data settings then select AT&T then iPhone and a screen will pop up asking if you would like to install the profile for whatever reason it's not verified but works fine. You can also go to www.unlockit.co.nz and set up a straight talk APN profile that is verified not sure exactly what that means but both work to get the data working on the phone for straight talk but it does not make the MMS work. There are a couple other methods I have read about one is on howardforums using ibackupbot to manually change the files on the phone I haven't been able to get mine to stick using that method but other people have and there is a sim swap method to trick the phone to reveal APN settings using a tmobile sim I have not tried this but other people have with success. The last two methods mentioned will make both data and MMS work

There are Parameters DESTTYPE, DESFORMAT and DESNAME. You can set these parameters to get as you want.

Need help on the Portal Logged on Users Custom tool

Hello Everyone
I am trying to build a tool by following the below blog written by Micheal Nicholls,
Building a tool to monitor who is logged on to an SAP NetWeaver Portal...
can some body suggest me on how to start building this.
I am assuming I need to create two portal components and create an iview with the second component. so that it will fetch the users from the file wher the first component has placed on the temp directory. is it correct.
Do I just need to deploy the first component or do anything specific with that?
could some body pls suggest me regarding this. Appreciate your valuable answer.

Yes you need to make two components and deploy them to your portal. After that you need to find the file SessionManager.jsp at the o/s level of the portal and replace the call of the rtc_script with a call to your component. Restart the portal server and see what happens!
Please note that this is not supported. The idea was to show how you might want to proceed. It is not a fully functioning solution.

You might want to Try Re-run the Config utility from the Linux-Essbase server and Re-register the Essbase with HSS.
Start the Essbase in Foreground and check if it is running
Now log on to the EAS/AAS with default admin/password if you havent changed it :); add your Essbase server using the Super user/Owner of essbase i mean the id..if you are succesful; i would always create a Test user as before Externalisation i can create users at EAS/AAS and then using Admin id ; i will push the Users/groups to the HSS by Externalising.. let me know if that helped you.
