WE  ARE  FOLLOWING  MAKE TO ORDER  IS IT  ESSENTIAL  THAT  WE  DO  COSTING

Dear  All,
we  are  doing   make  to  order scenario  is it  essential  that  we  do  costing  run  . for   finished  products  and  semifinished  products.

sree

hi,
Yes,
The process is triggered when an order for a configurable material is received from the customer. The customer order is recognized in the MRP run resulting in planned order for production of the material. If insufficient warehouse stock is available, purchase requisitions are created for the raw materials required.
When the production order is created, target costs are calculated for the order lot size (preliminary costing). During the production process, costs incurred are updated on the order, which enables you to keep track of and compare target costs and actual costs at any time.

  • Consignment stock, make to order scenario

    Hi
We have a material which produce make to stock and make to order also.
In case of make to stock its fine. But when we are testing make to order then following is system behavour.
    Action     Mvt Type     Accounting Document
    GR     101     No Accounting Document
Consignment     631     Finish Inventory     Dr      at Standard Price
                        Consignment Inventory Change (VKA)     Cr
PGI     633     COGS     Dr      at Standard Price
                        Finish Inventory     Cr
My question is why not accounting document is generated at the time of GR 101 in case of make to order scenario.

    Hi
MTO has 3 scenarios in it. (I think you either fall in Scenario 1 or 2)
    1. Where the Qty of Prod order is tagged to sales order upon GR from prod order....
The valuation in this case happens at the std cost (CK11N).... Every thiing remains same as in MTS... You get variance as well
    2. Where Qty & Value both are tagged to the sales order (Sales order is Cost Object & Stock is Valuated stock)
This is not recommended by SAP and should be chosen only in rare cases...
This scenario pertains to Complex MTO, means totally manufactured based on customer demand.. Like Cars, Boeing Air Crafts, etc
Sale order is a cost object...
Sales order cost estimate is done when sales order is created...
GR is valuated at sales order cost estimate... Variances are calculated based on this cost and actual cost incurred..
PGI and Revenue post to the sales order because SO is the CO object
Finally Sales order is settled to COPA
    3. Where Qty & Value both are tagged to the sales order (Sales order is Cost Object & Stock is Non Valuated stock)
    This is recommended by SAP
This scenario pertains to Complex MTO, means totally manufactured based on customer demand.. Like Cars, Boeing Air Crafts, etc
Sale order is a cost object...
Sales order cost estimate can be done when sales order is created...
GR is Non valuated... No Variances are calculated because GR is non valuated
Production Order settles upon sales order.. hence, actual cost goes to sales order...
PGI does not generate accounting doc because stock is Non Valuated
Revenue post to the sales order because SO is the CO object
Finally Sales order is settled to COPA
These are the 3 possible scenarios in MTO... There might be a slight variation in Consignment scenario.... I am nt sure if the "No Accounting doc" situation at GR is OK or not

  • Configuration for Make to Order Scenario

    Hi!
We are using make to order scenario, but we want to follow product cost by production order, not product cost by sale order.
alway our costs should acrrue to production order.
What are steps we need to check and do..
In requirement class (40), we need to change any thing ?
    regs,
    ramesh

    Dear Ramesh,
Dont remove any account modification indicator
Just keep blank consumption posting field.
Regarding valuation, if you keep it as M=Valuation related to particular S.O
                                                                A=Valuation not related to a particular S.O(MTS)
So, you can keep this field as blank(i.e. Non-valuated stock)

  • Make To Order - Commitment qty is 0 even if material on stock

    Folks,
We are using Make to order with strategy group 82 (Assembly processing) requirement type is KMFA and class is 201. The availability check in material master is set to '02' individual requirements.
The KMAT has about 100 components. Of 100 components about 10 are set to 'KP' - no check. the rest are set to '02' - individual requirements in the MRP3 view.
On creating the sales order, the components with no availability check have the right committed qty whereas the rest shows 0 .(Eventhough there are enough stock) and are shown as missing parts. (the commitment date deaults to 12/31/9999)
I tried using Movement type 412 E to post the components in to sales order stock. It worked. But there are 100s of components and 100s of orders. We cannot afford to issue the components manually for each and every order.
Is there any way we could achieve this at one step? (like either posting to the order or reservation?)  Am I missing something in the set up?
    Helpful answers will be rewarded.

MRP 4 view "2" was missing in individual/Collective reqmts.

  • PPDS Make to order issue

    hi Gurus,
we are creating make to order sale order and material is Configurable.
my is that, report  is missing some SALES order in the report against the Production order or purchase order
as we have created all sales order as MTO.
When I created any purchase order for 1000 quantity against that Sales order and we did GR for for 900.
system is automaticaly creating Make to stock order and sending requirement to APO to generate plan order.
Due to this what ever plan order generated as a Make to stock system is not showing any Sales order infront if that plan order.
My client doesn't want to create MTS plan order for any material as it is all MTO and configurable
    Please suggest the way
    thanks in advance..!
    Best regards,
    Nilesh I

    Hi Nilesh,
Your requirement is not so clear.
When I created any purchase order for 1000 quantity against that Sales order and we did GR for  900.
system is automatically creating Make to stock order and sending requirement to APO to generate plan order.
What do you mean by this? When you post the GR for the PO on sales order stock, using movement type 101 E, it should be in sales order stock only. Then why again there is a requirement.
Could you please clearly give your requirement with simple example? Like Created sales order in ECC > Sales order displayed in MTO segment in Product view> and so on...

  • Make to Stock-But were actually Make to Order Mfg

Is it possible to have a soft link between (lets say) 3 sales orders and 1 production order without using the stringent Make to Order functionality in SAP. I was told some time ago I can build a planning strategy utilizing the right combination of requirement class and requirement type plus associated triggers within the strategy profile to combine sales orders to a production orderand view the sales order assignments in the production order. The sales order numbers should have a link to the production order. What's important is flexibility to make planning adjustments with my production orders to sales orders. Keep in mind we are a make to Order Shop but for efficiency we plan as make to stock.
I would like to hear from anyone who uses such planning strategies to help me with the settings.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Pls. try Strategy Group 40 ( Planning with Final Assembly) which is best option when you need flexibility between Make-to-Stock & Make-to-Order scenarios because it gives you the flexibility of working with both PIR as well as CIR ( Sales Order). So as you said you can flexibly get Planned Orders against PIR as well as against Sales Orders which will serve your purpose of planning with MTS but execution in MTO way.
This strategy enables you to do dispatch readily when SO arrives with reduced Replenishment Lead Times.
Further you can use Indv/ Collective Indicator in Material Master -
    > MRP-4 View as :
    2     Collective requirements only
which will help you to get 1 production order against multiple Sales Order.
    Hope this helps.
Revert if any doubt and reward if useful.

  • Make to Order - Reservations and Mov Type

    Reservations for Make to Order:
We are using Make to Order strategy for job work scenario, i.e. strategy 20. Here we will receive customer material without reference, after quality checking will be posted to Un-res stock.
    1.     Now when we run a MRP for finished product the reservations or happening for movement type 261+E, but the stock available is not a sales order stock. How to issue the same without transfer posting, Or can we restrict the reservations for 261 only?.
    2.     As soon as we book a sales order, is it possible to transfer post the Materials referencing a material document to sales order stock.
    Thanks
    RamananPV

    Hi,
    1. Material is going in unrest stock as there is no reference. Either post stock with reference to SO or you will have to do transfer posting. Take suitable decision as per your business requirement.
    2. You mave have to go for development. Discuss with your ABAPer.

  • Sub-Contracting for Make to Order

    Hi all
We are having Make to Order Scenario. We have created a sales order and some materials for BOM have to send for Sub-Contracting Process.
I have created a PO with Acct Assignment "E - Ind. cust. w. KD-CO"  and Item Category as "L".
But as per Standard SAP Acct Assgnmt "E" and Item Category "L"  is not possible.
Consider the Header material is "X "  and Component is "Y".
I am having Material "Y " in Sale Order Stock. Now when i do MB1B using 541 mvmgt type the system is not allowing me to post .
please suggest me this scenario how to proceed.
<b>For a Make to Order scenario how to do Sub-contracting Process.</b>
    Regards
    Kumar

    Hi,
For transfering sale order stock to sub-contractor the movement type is 311-E. Here, you have to create the sub-contractor storage location & then transfer the stock (of BOM material) to sub-contractor storage location by movement type 311-E in transaction MB1B. While posting GRN of the upper material, system posts the consumption of the BOM material against the upper material.
    Hope this works.

  • What are configuration steps in implementation for make to order?

please give the steps for normal production also.

    Hi,
    Below is the requested info:
    Make-to-Order (MTO) Production
    Purpose
The planning strategies explained in this section are designed for the production of a material for a specific individual sales order. In other words, you do not want to produce finished products until you receive a sales order. This means that make-to-order strategies always support a very close customer-vendor relationship, because your sales orders are closely linked to production.
The same relationship exists between the sales order and production that exists in a make-to-order environment. Make-to-order is also used in the following environments.
    Production using variant configuration
    Assemble-to-order
    Prerequisites
    Choose a make-to-order strategy, if:
The materials are segregated. In other words, they are uniquely assigned to specific sales orders.
Costs must be tracked at sales order level and not on material level.
Make-to-order strategies should always be combined with lot-size key EX (lot-for-lot. Rounding values should not be used. If you maintain rounding values, they have no effect due to the make-to-order properties of these strategies.
    Process Flow:
There are extensive options that enable you to procure components especially for specific sales order items.
You may, however, want to use a different planning strategy to procure components without sales orders. This allows you to keep your replenishment lead time to a minimum. You can do this by:
Planning on the basis of the finished product (see Planning Without Final Assembly (50) or Planning with a Planning Material (60))
Planning at component level (see Strategies for Planning Components)
    Using consumption-based or Kanban-controlled components
Customer stock can exist on any BOM level. See Stockkeeping at Different BOM Levels for more information.
Because production is closely linked to sales orders, this results in a customer section in the stock/requirements list.
Unplanned goods receipts (such as returns) cannot, as a rule, be used for other sales orders, even if they are in working order, unless they are adapted to meet a customer's needs.
In the basic make-to-order strategy, Make-to-Order Production (20), no specific product structures are required. This means that it does not matter if the material has a BOM or not. The material can be produced in-house, or it can be procured externally. No planning is involved in this strategy.
Planning Without Final Assembly (50) and Planning with a Planning Material (60) do require a specific product structure (i.e. a BOM, which means materials are always produced in-house). These planning strategies assume that you want to plan procurement (production or purchasing) of your components by planning the finished products. This means that you need to have a fairly stable demand for your finished products. If, however, you can plan more easily at component level than at finished product level, see Strategies for Planning Components.
    Configuration Settings:
Create material master by maintaining general item category group- 0001(make to order)
    Availability check - 02
    Transportation Group - 0001
go to va01 and raise sales order
    item category:TAk
    Schedule line category : cp
    Requirement type KE
    Requirement class 040
    Check TOR and avalability check
    special stock : E
    VOV7
    of TAK
    billing relivence : A
    Pricing :X
    go to mb1c
maintain stock with a special stock indicator E
    mavement type 61
    Special stock E
specify sales order number line item number and saveit
    go to VL01N main data
    Go to VF01
    save it
    Thanks

  • In make to order cycle semifinished costs are not appearing in itemisation

    Hi
We are facing a problem in Make to order. When a production order is created with respect to a sales order, semifinished costs are not appearing in Itemisation or cost component structure of Production order.
In other cases like make to stock and planning with final assembly costs are appearing. we are checking costs at CO02 - goto menu- costs - itemization.
Please provide us solution for this problem.
    Thanks and regards,
    Deepa

    Hi
Please check 'Cost component Structure' Attribute details data for the semifinished component.
In that chek for 'Rollup cost' and also check for 'Filter Criteria for cost component views on Itemization' properly.
    Regards
    Laxmiprasad
Apart from above pls check for semifinished product in material master in costing1 view for material origin check box, check it if not selected.

Hello, for a client where I'm setting the flow intercompany , but i have  an error on the Sales Order when I must be change delivery plant.
Scenario: Make to Order, Product configuration, Sales Order BOM created by  CS60
    Step:
    1 - I create sales order fo company X delivery plant 1000
2 - Creates Order BOM on plant 2000 Company Y
3 - creates MRP Planned Order
4 - Convert Planned Order to Production Order
For different issues can happen that you decide to ship the goods to a different plant than the X. Production Plant remains 2000.
If I try to change the plant on the Order system stops me with the following error:
Message V1810 - Plant can no longer be changed

2.you mention it as intercompany and MTO can you be clear for whoom you got the sales order(internal or External Customer?

  • Make to order automatic generation of schedule lines

I am now designing Make to order (MTO) strategy for repetative manufacturing.
Requirement generates through sales order (Requirement type - KE)
While doing backflushing (Tr. Code- MFBF) I am selecting Make to order tab and putting sales order no,will call planned orders (were generated while MRP run- Tran. code-MD50) and will confirm if sufficent sales order stock is available.
Every time I ahve to move from regualr stock to sales order stock by 412 movement.
Is there any link which will enables the shortfall of sales order stock will generate the schedule line enable to procure the material?
I have found one solution- will have to create Purchase order item having account assignment- M. and have to maintain the source and quota. It genertaes schedule line. But on daily basis I am generatin sales order and there are thousands of items to be procured. Practically it very difficult to creates new po or add new item in purchase order by putting assignment M

    Hello,
Planning of child items in MTO senario can be handled by using appropriat planning stategy.
    Or
There is another way of using individual and collective indicator
field on the MRP 4 view.
    Here following are possible entries.
    blank ---
    1 -
    Individual requirement only
    2 -
    collective requirement
Here if you give indicator as 2 , then for many sales orders the component requirement will get clubbed.
For example you have five sales orders for a parent material of qty 100 each, and in BOM you have specified the required quantity as 1 for the child material.
Then you will get a dependent requirement of 500 for the component.
Now , you have to decide whether you want five individualdependent  requiremants  of 100 quantity each for components or you want collective dependent requirement of
    500 quantity for component.
Hope the above explanation is clear.
    Reward if useful.
Please revert back if you need any input on component  planning strategies.
