If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

    - See:

    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.

You have to restore and thus erase your iPod. that is how it works.

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • ITunes is asking for me to enter my passcode when I connect my iPod (3rd Gen) but I cannot enter my passcode in my iPod as it appears to be locked on "connect to iTunes" screen, unless I turn it off. What shall I do?

I lost my iPod but recently found it, I charged it up fully and then connected up to my latop. iTunes is saying that it cannot connect until I type in my passcode but my iPod is not letting me type in my passcode. I've tried turning it on and off again and resetting it and many other things but nothing seems to work. I'm guessing it's just completely broke is there any way it can be fixed?

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore via iTunes. For recovery mode:

  • My iPod Touch 4G's screen has gone white and has lines on the screen. How do I fix it? Help!

    Hello everyone,
I've had an iPod Touch 4th generation for a few years now, and, today, for the first time, the screen has gone white and their are vertical lines on it. What happened was I accidentally dropped my iPod Touch on tile and it landed on its back. I tried it out right afterwards to see if it was still working and it seemed like it was perfectly fine. Later on, I got an email from one of my friends, so I slid the email button on the lock screen to see the email. In the email, there was a link to a gif image, so I opened it in Safari. After I was done with it, I closed that tab. I also had a second tab open from earlier, so I wanted to close that tab as well. When I clicked on the button to see all tabs and close one, the screen completely froze. I held on to the on/off button on the top of the iPod, and, after about a minute, the screen switched to a completely white screen with lines on it. I've tried holding onto the on/off button again and it doesn't work. I also tried plugging it into my Windows 7 computer and opening iTunes, but my computer doesn't even recognized it is plugged in. It won't appear under the "computer" section in Windows Explorer, which will allow me to do USB-related tasks with it. iTunes doesn't recognize that it is plugged in either, so I can't do anything like restore the iPod to factory settings. The home button on my iPod hasn't been working for a while so i've always been using the accessibility feature that gives me a home button on the screen. Now that I can't access that, I can't hold down both the on/off button and the home button at the same time. What should I do? Should I send it in to Apple for repairs (which I won't do and would rather buy a new iPod Touch)? I am thinking of just leaving it to, hopefully, have the battery drain and the iPod would die. Then, I could charge it and see what happens. Other than that, i'm just clueless right now and I have no idea what I should do. Please help me!
My iPod Touch is an iPod Touch 4th generation model with 8GB. It is running iOS 5.1.1.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ITS POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE SCREEN OF MY IPOD TOUCH, i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ITS POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE SCREEN OF MY IPOD TOUCH

I would like to know if it is possible to change my ipod touch screen.

Yes.  If you want to do it yourself, there are several retailers who offer replacement parts and step-by-step guides on how to swap out the display.  One such place is http://www.ifixit.com/.
You can also choose to do an out of warranty exchange with Apple for the prices show on this page. They don't actually repair the iPod though, but instead swap out your iPod for a refurbished one of the same capacity and generation.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Lastly, you can choose a third party service center who can replace the screen for you. Google for "iPod Touch screen repair" for a number of results.

  • My White 4G Ipod Touch has a strange smell to it and is warm to the touch. What should i do?

The smell isnt like a burning smell but i cant really describe it. The smell is around the ipod but you can only smell it if your nose is really close to it. I'm worried that the smell that is radiating from it is hazardous to my health.  I just turned it off for a while and its cool now but the smell is slightly still there.  Anyone else having this problem, or knows what i should do? Oh and also the bottom venting part is where the smell is the strongest.

With heavy use the iPod can get quite warm. If you are concerned you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. The smell is likely normal butt I can't smell it where I am.
