Web Reports may be deployed to Internet?

Hi, all.
I know that Web Reports may be deployed to Intranets. However, I don't know if they may be deployed as part of Internet (Developer 6i) applications. Is it possible?
If so, is there any special requirements for the client machine (beyond a browser with JInitiator)?
Thank you.

hello,
let me first clarify something. For report alone the client need only a browser and -depending on your utilization of PDF- a PDF-Viewer plugin.
JInitiator is only used for forms-applications to replace the browser JVM with a more recent one, that can run the applets produced by the forms-server.

    Hi,
    First you sould make sure of your portal is up and running.
    Then try to restart portal instance, you never know
    Check clearly your authorization as well.
    Afterwards try to chekc your portal setup. Check via following path: Logon to portal ->
    Goto System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape -> check Portal Content folder.
    Chekc this sub/folder (Systems) for the your BW system which is suppose to be integrated into portal.

  • Deploying BO universes and webi reports in quality and production

    Hi
    We are on BO XIR2 SP5 and reporting on SAP BI Infocubes and Queries.
    We have 3 environments setup,each for development,quality and production.
    During universe development,while creating a new connection we provide the IP address of application server,username ,password,system id,client number etc details.
    The above details would defer for 3 different environments.In our case we have built around 50 universes.
    So what would be the smart way of deploying these universes in each of the other 2 environments?Because changing universe connection details would mean re creating the universe classes and objects which would be a huge effort.Would the webi reports continue to work upon re creating the universe with new connection details?
    Please suggest a best and smart practice for the above scenario.

    Hi,
    Using Import Wizard tool in BO you can  migrate Universe and Reports from dev env to test.
    Using the Import Wizard tool you can migrate the reports.
    Steps are as follows:
    Open Import window:
    In Source environment , enter the details of dev environment.
    Destination wizard you have to enter Test env credentials.
    Then you have to select all the universe and the wid files from this wizard (The files you want to transfer ).
    Finally finish this wizard by pressing finish button.........
    Hope this will help you

  • Dynamic  XR2 webi reports on an Internet  portal

    How to integrate dynamic XR2 webi reports on an Internet portal? (Not Infoviews naturally)

    Is the report on the same R/3 system than the others?
    You can see it on the iview, attribute "System"
    If it is on the same machine, then I can only give some generic hints:
    Do the outside users have the same HR Permission than the inside user?
    Are there any elements (i.e. htmlb, controls etc) that would be cut of by a tight set firewall? (some see extensive scripts as virus)
    We have a VPN-Server that does "HTTP REWRITE" for security reasons and often "eats" cookies etc, which leads to particular behaviour of single reports
    Is there a "http redirect" to the report somewhere
    Is it a generic ESS transaction?
    That is all (basic) things that come to my mind. It is difficult to give more specific hints without knowing the detailed architecture and sit in front of the systems

    My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
    Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
    You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Web Reporting on Mac

    How different is SAP BW BEx Web Reporting on Apple Macintosh (Safari, Firefox)?
    Thanks

    dear Rekha,
    may behave differently, check following oss,
    recommended is
    Business Explorer Browser in the Web
    Java script is used to display the tree. The required Web Browsers are Netscape >= 4.6 and Microsoft IE >= 5.0.
    For BW 3.5 and higher, the compatible web browser version is IE>= 5.5.
    hope this helps.
    494689
    Solution
    Web Applications
    You can use different functions, depending on the type of browser. A browser identification is carried out on both the server and the client. For this reason, it is important that proxys or firewalls do not make any major changes to the user agent ID in the request.
               Requirements for an unlimited range of functions
                         The full range of functions with context menus, snippet operations and the interactive navigation bar with maps can only be accessed using current browsers that support the DOM level 2 (with dynamic generation of DOM objects), ECMA-262 script, HTML 4.0 and CSS 1.0. The reference browsers here are the Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) and the Netscape Navigator (NS) in the current Windows implementations (MSIE 6.x and NS 6.x). Instances of these browsers on other systems such as Apple Macintosh or Linux may behave differently.
               Minimum requirements
                         Web Applications can be used with browsers that meet HTML 3.2 standards and support basic CSS 1.0 functions.
               Browser variants and range of functions
                         Full context menu range of functions, flicker-free navigation and ad-hoc BEx Query Designer: IE 6.x, 5.x, NS 6.x
                        Context menu, but no dynamic loading of hierarchy branches with the Web item "Hierarchical context menu": IE 4.x, NS 4.x
                         Context menu display as its own Web page: Pocket Internet Explorer (mobile devices with Windows CE), Accessibility mode (suitable for the visually-impaired)
                         No context menu, only limited navigation via icons:
                         Very old browser Web (IE 3.0, Netscape 3), mobile devices (Palm, EPOC...)
                         Limited navigation: WAP-enabled mobile telephones and i-Mode-enabled mobile telephones
    Mobile-Intelligence-Rendering
    Stylesheet information and scripts are embedded in the document on the server.
    EPOC: No script.
    WAP: WML instead of HTML. WBMPs for charts.
    i-Mode: CHTML instead of HTML.
    Web templates that contain corresponding Web items have only limited functions on the respective browsers.
    For more details on the area of mobile intelligence, see Note 453142 "Information about BW BEx Mobile Intelligence"
    Repository metadata
    The text part of the Metadata repository is based on HTML 3.2 and therefore can be used all conventional browsers with version >= 3.0.
    However, the graphics (InfoCube star schema, data flow, query preview), are in a XML-based format (VML) which until now was only supported by Internet Explorer Version 5.
    Business Explorer Browser in the Web
    Java script is used to display the tree. The required Web Browsers are Netscape >= 4.6 and Microsoft IE >= 5.0.
    For BW 3.5 and higher, the compatible web browser version is IE>= 5.5.

  • Get client ip in web reports 9i

    Hi
    we are using oracle 9i reports.
    we want to get client's ip address when running web reports.
    We are having forms which gets the ip address using
    webutil but the same functionality is not available
    in web reports.
    How can this we get the client's ip address
    when using web reports?

    Hi,
    From WebUtil documentation:
    WebUtil is primarily focused at solving the more common challenges faced by Forms developers whowish to build applications which integrate tightly with the "Client Browser" machine - the machine that the end user is actually sitting at.
    Traditionally Forms has provided the means of integration with the machine that the Forms executable is running on, but in the Web-deployed scenario this can be remote from end users and may even be a different operating system from the systems that are being used to host the application’s user interface. WebUtil gives Forms developers the means to interact with the client browser machines with PL/SQL, without having to learn any new technology.
    As far as I know, Oracle Reports has never provided this functionality. In fact, there hasn't been much stress on interacting with the client machine. And thus there is no direct functionality in 9i as well, to get client machine information.
    If you are running your reports from Forms, you can get the client's IP address in the Form and populate it in a temporary table in the DB, from where Reports can then pick it up.
    Navneet.

  • Roles & Authorizations for Web Reports...

    Hello Experts,
    We are newly implementing Web Reports in our organization. I need your great thoughts regarding implementing Authorizations for users to access the reports.
    We are using a report menu page that contain links to all the reports. The page opens by clicking on a link on the portal. The individual reports are basically accessed from this page by clicking on the corresponding button (links a URL ).
    I wonder if there is any way to look into the menu page (XHTML code of that web page/application) when ever the users click on the reports link and disable those buttons that the users are not allowed to access depending on the roles users are assigned to. Otherwise is there any better way to do it.
    And also how to call a function from web applications.
    This is a kind of urgent issue any quick ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    I apologize for the difficulty in reading this  I will repost.
    We have had no training or received any documenation on WAD.  The below was created from internet research.  Hence there may be WAD functionality that would allow easier maintenance, however; this is what we use.
    With our dashboard, I have a web template that contains hyperlinks for our reports.  I will call this HeaderTemplate1.  For each web page I have report templates.  These report templates have the HeaderTemplate1 mentioned above as well as the report tables, charts, text elements, tabs, etc.
    The JavaScript logic for accessing the urls of the specific report templates is contained within our HeaderTemplate1.
    Below is how our setup was tested.  Keep in mind, this was only for testing basic functionality.  If this is something we use I will most likely create a master data table that houses the user ID and an attribute for the header type.  Thus, any report menu changes can be altered quickly without changing the javascript of each report template.  Also this will accomodate the few thousand users we have.
    To add the functionality of different 'menus', I created another header template with the same hyperlinks of HeadertTemplate1 with the exception of one or two hyperlinks.  This, HeaderTemplate2, was added to each report template just below HeaderTemplate1.  Note that both HeaderTemplate1 and HeaderTemplate2 were set as visible on each report template.
    Also, on each report template I added a text element.  The 'List of Text Elements'property was set as such; Element Type = General Text Sympol,  Element ID = SYUSER.  This Text Element was linked to a query  or view from BEx via the dataprovider.  On the HTML side, I surrounded this Text Element with
    <Font ID="UserID",,,textelement....</Font>
    Each Report template has this javascript function, fnRepOnLoad, which is triggered at the OnLoad event.
    [<SCRIPT language = "JAVASCRIPT">
      function fnRepOnLoad()
        var user_ID=document.getElementById("UserID").innerHTML;
        if (user_ID=='USER123')
          document.all["HEADTMPLT1"].style.visibility = 'hidden';
          document.all["HEADTMPLT1"].style.position = 'absolute';
        else
          document.all["HEADTMPLT2"].style.visibility = 'hidden';
          document.all["HEADTMPLT2"].style.position = 'absolute';
    </script>
    The function results as this.  If the user is USER123, HeaderTemplate1 is hidden, leaving only HeaderTemplate2 visible.  Otherwise HeaderTemplate2 is invisible leaving on HeaderTemplate1 visible.
    We do not use buttons as our global leaders prefer hyperlinks but buttons can be enabled or disabled similarly.
    As mentioned before, if this method is implemented, I will create a reportable master data table.  Create a customer exit variable to retrieve the header template required for the user.  This header template variable value will then be pulled by a text element on each report template.  The script function will act as follows.  If many report headers are necessary I may use a case statement.
    Var User_template=document.getElementById("UserTmplt").innerHTML;
    If UserTmplt = HeaderTemplate1
    -->  make all header templates other than HeaderTemplate1 invisible
    else
    -->  make all header templates other than HeaderTemplate2 invisible
    etc...
    I hope this helps.  Please keep me posted with your solution.  I am very interested to learn what others are doing.
    Best Regards,
    Larry

  • Webi report runs in schedule in mins, times out when trying to modify

    I have a Webi Report that runs in schedule copy sent to an inbox (takes a minute to run)
    However when you try to modify refresh or edit in Webi on Infoview. The application just sits there with one green bar on progress bar, No Timeouts etc.
    Any ideas?

    To increase Java heap size on the client computer, check SAP NOTE# 1201179 - Error: "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError" when attempting to edit large Web Intelligence
    Symptom
    In BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2, when attempting to edit large Web Intelligence documents, the Internet Explorer browser stops responding. In the Java console, the following error message appears:
    "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError".
    Cause
    The error message occurs because the instance of Java on the client computer has reached its memory threshold.
    Resolution
    To edit large Web Intelligence documents, the default memory size on the client computer must be increased.
    To increase the default memory size
    Click Start > Control Panel > Java Plug-in > Advanced.
    Type "-Xms128m or -Xms256m" for the Java Runtime Parameters.
    Click Apply.
    Close all Internet Explorer windows.
    Retry the report.
    To automate the process the user can also create a script file that will update the deployment.properties file on each users' workstation.  The file is located under C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment folder.
    Modify the deployment.javapi.jre.<version>.args parameter in the deployment.properties file and add the xms and xmx parameters, for eg:
    deployment.javapi.jre.1.5.0_12.args=-Xms128m  -Xms256m
    The Web Intelligence document can now be edited successfully

  • IE settings for web reports ?

    Hi Guys,
    I am having a strange problem.I have created simple web reports using WAD in 3.5.
    While executing the reports some users are able to see the reports,but some getting the
    error"Page can not be displayed".Is there any settings I need to do in those desktops in Internet explorer ?
    Regards,
    Suravi

    Hi Suravi,
    Please check the user to clear the cache in the internet explorer and then try.
    After then if he/she is not getting the report means it may be the user doesnt have authorizations to view the report.
    Please check in SU01D, for the user to know whether the user got the authorization or not to view the report.
    Then if possible chk in PFCG, which role is been assigned and to which country he is authorized.
    Rgds,
    Ravi

  • SAP BI Mobile Publishing Webi report issue

    Hi All,
    We want to use the BI Mobile App on IPad for Webi reports. The app is successfully implemented on the IPad, connection to BO server is done, categories are visible. But no report.
    In Webi I tried to publish my report to the respective 'mobile' category, but the the 'Publish to' is missing in the menu.
    Save as is possible, but it has no effect.
    I checked the CMC and I have full authorisation for publishing (and anything else).
    What could be the reason that the 'Publish to' menu is not visible? Is this the reason why I do not see my Webi report in the Bi Mobile app?
    I would appreciate any kind of help.
    Danya

    HI Danya,
    You have already done the configuration it seems.
    Mobile Category has been created.
    Can you go to your report, right click, categories
    add it to Mobile categories
    check on your ipad
    Also, which version of BI and SAP BI app for mobile are you using?
    Cn you elaborate on the publish to menu, with a screenshot may be

  • Bw web report plugin http session hangs at the server side

    Hi,
    I am having problems when closing the browser of a BW web report. After I closed the browser by going File->close, I ran SM04 and found out the Plugin HTTP session hangs at the server side.
    How can we terminate the Plugin HTTP session at the server side when user closes the internet browser?
    I did implement a logoff function at my web template, if user clicks on the logoff, the Plugin HTTP session is terminated at server side correctly. But As you know, 50% of time user will close the report by closing the internet browser instead of clicking the logoff. That leaves lots of hanging Plugin HTTP sessions at our server side.
    By the way, we actived our BEX service at the SICF.
    Thanks for help!
    JA

    Hi
    If you want to avoid a blank page with logoff button, add opener=0
    <a href="<SAP_BW_URL CMD='LOG_OFF' ~command='logoff'
    >" onClick="javascript:window.close(opener=0);">Log off</a>
    If you want to close the session via X, use this code:
    create a sapscript function
    function closeSession()
    logoff()
    window.unload=CloseSession()
    However, the Plugin HTTP session isn't killed.
