Web Services and PL/SQL-functions

Hi.
Is it possible to make a Web service able to "select all emp" and return all emp in a XML-stream back to the service.
I can select one single emp, that works according to examples on OTN.
Hans-Inge.

The service-config.xml and client-config.xml are config files used by the Webservices assembler, which generates webservices from PL/SQL. JPublisher is used under the hood.
However, the 10.1.3 assembler may run without service-config.xml and client-config.xml. If you can run the build.xml file for the demo, then you are fine.

  • SQL Server 2008 Reporting Project - Invoke/Consume Web Service and Return Dataset in C# Code-Behind

    Hello,
    I have a Visual Studio 2010 C# class with a method that invokes/consumes a web service and returns an XML dataset. I am traversing through the parent/child nodes and parsing out the data then inserting it into a SQL Server 2008 R2 table for a join within
    another stored procedure.
    Instead of using a 3rd party API to generate the PDF for this data, I am creating an SSRS report. The formatting will be easier and I can do a RenderFormat directly to PDF.
    Can I expect to be able to transfer the code-behind method to this report and have it be able to work with the web service the same way? It is a SOAP-based web service returning parent nodes and two levels of nested child nodes.
    I have also been researching the approach of calling the web service in the same stored procedure that is currently querying the physical tables (which is used to populate a gridview and PDF) but it looks like it may only be possible with a CLR stored procedure.
    Is it possible to implement a CLR stored procedure within an SSRS report?
    Hope this makes sense. Any help, suggestion or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Buster

    Hi Buster,
    SSRS supports web service data source, we can call the SOAP-based web service in SSRS report directly. Then, we can use custom code in SSRS to parse the XML data. However, we won’t be able to join another data in SQL Server database.
    Reference:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964129(v=sql.90).aspx#repservxmlds_topic3
    We cannot implement a CLR stored procedure within an SSRS report directly. In order to execute the CLR store procedure in a SSRS report, we have to execute it as text using the following code:
    Exec <stored procedure name>

  • Calling web services from PL/SQL

    Hi,
    We have a requirement where we need to call a web services from PL/SQL.
    I believe we have a PL/SQL API that allows you to consume external web services.
    I was looking for other possible options too to consume web Service from PL/SQL.
    Can any one suggest the other possible options , and which option is best to consume web service.
    Thanks
    AB

    AB,
    I didn't realize you cannot attach documents to your post. You will have to provide me with an email address that I can send the documents to. They are a little rough (ie not commented etc) but they do illustrate the point. The basic idea is to build up the payload of the soap envelope using pl/sql. Meaning as I loop through the cursor I use each record in the cursor to build an xml string. This string of xml becomes the payload of the soap message. This could also be done using xml functionality provided by the db meaning xmlelement, xmlforest etc. The issue I ran into was the size of the message. That is why I elected to build the xml message by string concatenation as I moved through the cursor.

  • New to Web Services - need to call a HTTPS web service from PL/SQL

    I am new to Web Services and need to call HTTPS web service from PL/SQL program. I am using 10g Database.
    I have been reading there are 2 options -
    1. UTL_HTTP - with this package its possible to call HTTPS web services
    2. UTL_DBWS
    Questions -
    1. Is it possible to call a HTTPS web service using UTL_DBWS ? I have not been able to find any information on it.
    2. Can someone point me to UTL_HTTP and UTL_DBWS examples calling a HTTPS web service ?
    3. The HTTPS web service that I need to call needs username/password to connect - how will I incorporate this in the pl/sql code ?
    Appreciate the help.
    Cheers,

    Hi,
    1. UTL_DBWS not work for https from what I understand
    2. Here is a sample example:
    [http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/9i/ConsumingWebServices9i.php#]
    Be careful, you must change http/1.0 IN 1.1 inside package SOAP_API.
    Here is an example for a prime number where the SOAP message is already construct:

    http_req := utl_http.begin_request('http://www50.brinkster.com/vbfacileinpt/np.asmx','POST', utl_http.HTTP_VERSION_1_1);
    utl_http.set_header(http_req, 'Content-Type', 'text/xml; charset=utf-8');

    Otherwice for testing url, i recommand you to use that function: Re: Error using UTL_HTTP over HTTPS
    it's a verry helpful function when you have an error.
    wrote:
    When testing using UTL_HTTP, you MUST ensure that you open a new session after importing the SSL certificates into your Wallet,

    If you don't realise/know this, it can cause a lot of additional frustration during testing, when you keep getting the ORA-29024 exception AFTER
    you've imported the SSL certificates................. ;) 3. i think you can use that after the begin_request but not sure :
    UTL_HTTP.set_authentication(r => http_req,

  • Need advice about web services and Java beans

    Hi
    I am very new to web services and to Java beans as well.
    I am trying to understand if and how a web service can use functionality I have in a Java bean. I couldn't find any documentation I can use.
    For example:
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
    Adder adder = (Adder) ic.lookup("ejb/AdderJNDI");In a EJB client project (I'm working with Eclipse) if I add the EJB project to the build path, the Adder interface is recognized.
    Theoritacally I thought I can do the same in a web service server project, but the Adder interface is not recognized.
    Is there something I can read to understand how I need to use the EJB or implement the web service?
    Many thanks
    Sigal

    Okay....I think I made some errors with the original scenario:
    It basically comes down to this....I think. OCS Calendar has a set of Java classes and methods that provide an abstraction for their web services interface. I know how to create something to use these classes using an IDE like JDeveloper, but I'm not sure how that would work with HTML DB.
    I've noticed that the SQL Workshop has a place for Java sources and classes, and I've heard mentions of PL/SQL wrapping. Is there a way to import classes into an HTML DB workspace, wrap 'em up, and access them via PL/SQL?
    Thanks again,
    Jonathan

    An XML Web service is a component that implements program
    logic and provides functionality for diseparate
    applications. These applications use standard protocols,
    such as HTTP, XML, and SOAP, to access the functionality.
    XML Web services use XML-based messaging to send and
    receive data, which enables heterogeneous applications to
    interoperate with each other. You can use XML Web services
    to integrate applications that are written in different
    programming languages and deployed on different platforms.
    In addition, you can deploy XML Web services within an
    intranet as well as on the Internet. While the Internet
    brings users closer to organizations, XML Web services
    allow organizations to integrate their applications.
    A Windows service starts much before any user logs in to
    the system (if it has been setup to start at boot up
    process). A Windows service can also be setup in such a way
    that it requires a user to start it manually ? the ultimate
    customization!
    Windows services run as background processes. These
    applications do not have a user interface, which makes them
    ideal for tasks that do not require any user interaction.
    You can install a Windows service on any server or computer
    that is running Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows NT.
    You can also specify a Windows service to run in the
    security context of a specific user account that is
    different from the logged on user account or the default
    computer account. For example, you can create a Windows
    service to monitor performance counter data and react to
    threshold values in a database.

  • Creating PL/SQL web services from PL/SQL records

    Hello
    Jdeveloper does not allow to create web services from pl/sql packages that use PL/SQL records.to do this,we have to use the jpublisher ?without using the jpublisher,if we create a webservice then the following error is displayed in the web service xml output file.
    <faultstring>Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: java.rmi.RemoteException: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 49: PLS-00181: unsupported preprocessor directive '$WS_SP_EVEN' )</faultstring>
    </env:Fault>
    Could any one suggest me, how to solve the above issue..?
    Regards
    Malathi

    Thank you, with db adapter it was working and also
    pl/sql web-services working successfully with object types.If we want to send the web-services to the client, do we need to send the entire folder that is created in the web-services folder of the external oc4j..?
    Creating the client process:
    we are using the wsdl file that is generated in the web-services and adding to the partner link to Invoke the operations of web-services. Is there any other way to invoke the webservices?Could any one please suggest me?
    Thanking you

  • Invoking Web Service From PL SQL package

    Below is the sample code to invoke web service from pl/sql package using UTL_HTTP:

    Hi,
    there are a lot of option to make plsql web services .
    First you can stay with jdev 10.1.3
    Use the xmldb servlets
    use jdev 11g tp4 to create plsql ws and upgrade to jdev 11g production
    And I think in the next release of jdev it will be back , there are more options which disappeared like the adf bc sdo ws or jmx datacontrol etc.

  • How to invoke a Web Service from PL/SQL with Complex Type as  input.

    Hello,
    I am trying to invoke a web service from PL/SQL using the UTL_DBWS package.
    The web service expects a complex type as input (defined below):
    <xs:complexType name="MsgType">
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="sender" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:element name="messageId" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:element name="messageType" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:element name="dateSent" type="xs:date"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    How to construct input to this in PL/SQL Procedure?
    Has any body tried this before?
    An exmaple will be helpful.
    Thanks

  • Support for Creating Web Service from pl/sql package in JDeveloper 11

    We have been creating all of our web services from pl/sql packages in our Oracle database using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1. I understand that this capability is not supported in Jdev 11. We have been mandated to either move up to JDeveloper 11, or consider switching to eclipse, or even VS2008 and run .NET services from IIS. I have seen work-around solutions using TopLink and Jdev 11. Are there plans to revive this feature in the near future? We're now looking at switching to .NET since we could scrap our OAS instances and use IIS to publish web services. The only reason we were sticking with Oracle was the ease in converting all our existing package to web services with Jdev.
    Is anyone else in the same situation. If so, what solutions are you considering?
