Webcache distrubute the load among instances

I'm testing clustering with Oracle10g 10.1.2
installed infrastructure(1 machine),one webcache(1 machine),2 instances(2 application servers in 2 different machines);
It is a database repository cluster(DCM).
presently in the cluster 2 application server instances are there.
i have some doubt regarding cluster.
say if there are 4 instances in the cluster.say 4 application server instances capacity is 100 users( we will define in webcache-origin servers ).all instances servicing 100 users.if i down one of the server in the cluster what happen to those 100 users which is servicing.Will all 100 users are in queue or will remaining 3 servers share 100 users(33,33,33) like this.
how webcache distrubute the load among instances.

Hi,
From the viewpoint of Web Cache, AFAIK, it doesn't matter/know that the Application server instances are in a cluster...i.e. it doesn't do anything special w.r.t distributing the load whether or not the server instances are in a cluster.
There is a parameter 'Capacity' to be configured in the 'Origin Servers' page in the Web Cache Administration page. Set it to the appropriate value.
In the particular case that you've mentioned about: this is the general rule/methodology that Web Cache uses: say a site is mapped to 2 servers (say, s1 and s2) & say, s1 is the first in its mapping after which s2's mapped. Then, on receving a request for some page in the stie, it'll first try to send it to s1 (since it's the 1st in the mapping) . but if it finds s1 to be down, then it routes it to s2.
Hope this helps.

  • RDS Connection Broker does not distribute the load among Session Hosts

    Hello Folks,
    I have a three server RDS setup in which the roles are distributed as follows:
    S1 -> RD Web Acc / RD Gateway / RD Connection Broker /Session Host
    S2 -> Licensing Server / Session Host
    S3 -> Session Host (and most powerful server)
    I would like the load to be distributed among the session hosts, depending on the resources of the servers. But in my setup, all the apps launched by the users are ran on S1 for some reason.
    Also, when I disable S1 from the list of session hosts that accept new connections, and start a new app from the conseole, I get an error saying: " An authentication error has occurred (Code0x607)"
    Any tips?
    Edit: I had a workaround for Code 0x607 but I still get an error saying that "Couldn't open this program or file. Either there was a problem with <appname> or the file you're trying to open couldn't be accessed"

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comment.
    Yes, we can deploy RDSH on all 3 servers and use as session host and that is a normal scenario for RDS Farm. You can refer following article for reference.

  • Need help - Loading Multiple instance of the same image

    Hi guys,
    I have been trying for days now, to get this working but i'm not able to do so, i have been trying to get actionscript to load multiple instance of an image file using a for loop.
    Would anyone be able to enlighten me on this?  the other functions are located on a seperate actionscript file.
    many thanks
    part of the code is as follows: (it works if i use the graphic class)
    function makeRoad():void{
        var row:int = 0;//the current row we're working on
        var block;//this will act as the block that we're placing down
        for(var i:int=0;i<lvlArray.length;i++){//creating a loop that'll go through the level array
            if(lvlArray[i] == 0){//if the current index is set to 0
                block = new EmptyBlock();//create a gray empty block
                block.graphics.beginFill(0x333333);
                block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
                block.graphics.endFill();
                addChild(block);
                //and set the coordinates to be relative to the place in the array
                block.x= (i-row*22)*25;
                block.y = row*25;
                } else if(lvlArray[i] == 1){//if there is supposed to be a row
                //just add a box that will be a darker color and won't have any actions
                block = new Shape();
                block.graphics.beginFill(0x111111);
                block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
                block.graphics.endFill();
                block.x= (i-row*22)*25;
                block.y = row*25;
                roadHolder.addChild(block);//add it to the roadHolder
            } else if(lvlArray[i] is String){//if it's a string, meaning a special block
                //then create a special block
                block = new DirectBlock(lvlArray[i],(i-row*22)*25,row*25);
                addChild(block);
            for(var c:int = 1;c<=16;c++){
                if(i == c*22-1){
                    //if 22 columns have gone by, then we move onto the next row
                    row++;

    @Kalisto - i don't think that is the real issue here since we cannot see what is in the DirectBlock class and the OP has not mentioned any compiler errors.
    Desmond - it appears as though you are constructing this in the form of a 'grid' - correct?  but the problem i believe is that the positioning is not being determined properly - to do something like you want here (i think) you would use what known as a 'nested loop' - this means the 'outer' loop handles iteration of the 'rows' and an 'inner' loop handles the iteration of the columns.  the way you have this set up above, you are attempting to use the 'row' value to position both the row and column - this wont work and it's likely that everything is getting 'stacked' on top of one another.
    may want to structure things a bit more like this:
    function makeRoad():void {
         var index:int = 0;
         for(var row=0; row<22; row++) {
              for(var col=0; col<22; col++) {
                   index = (row*22)+col;
                   if(lvlArray[index] == 0) createBlock(0x333333, col*25, row*25);
                   if(lvlArray[index] == 1) createBlock(0x111111, col*25, row*25);
                   if(lvlArray[index] is String) roadHolder.addChild( new DirectBlock(lvlArray[index], col*25, row*25) );
    function createBlock(color, xp, yp):void {
         var block:Shape = new Shape();
         block.graphics.beginFill(color);
         block.graphics.drawRect(0,0,25,25);
         block.graphics.endFill();
         block.x = xp;
         block.y = yp;
         roadHolder.addChild(block);
    note: i do not know how many 'rows' you intend to have and are stored in the array so the row<22 will need adjustment

  • My White Macbook is stuck at the loading screen, and disk utility, safe mode doesn't work either. What should I do?

    I went on vacation a few days ago and in El Salvador, they have this mobile broadband sticks. Well, I was using one until it gave me a network error. After that, it shut down my computer entirely. The first time it happened, I didn't think much of it. I took the battery out and put it back in for it could work. It happened another two times, and after the third time, my MacBook stays stuck at the loading screen, and it will take 5-10 minutes on that screen, before it shuts down, or it wouldn't turn on at all. I've tried booting into safe mode, but it appears to not boot into it. I've tried resetting the Pram, and using disk utility, but that still won't work. I don't know what else to do to make it boot into  OS X  Lion.
    I'm an AP student, and the majority of my work is in that computer, and it is very important! What can I do? Not only that, but I enter school in a few weeks and I need the AP work by the time I enter.
    What can I do? Can someone help?
    Thanks

    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Profiling the loading and unloading of modules

    Modules appear to be the ideal solution for building complex rich internet applications but first hand experience has also shown me that they can leak memory like nothing else. I've read anything and everything I could find about modules and module loading/unloading including of Alex Harui's blog post "What We Know About Unloading Modules" that reveals a number of potential leak causes that should be considered.
    I've now created a simple soak test that repeatedly loads and unloads a specified module to help identify memory leaks using the profiler. However, even with the most basic of modules, I find that memory usage will steadily grow. What I'd like to know is what memory stuff is unavoidable flex overhead associated with the loading of modules and what memory stuff am I guilty for, for not cleaning up object references? I'd like to be able to establish some baseline values to which I will be able to compare future modules against.
    I've been following the approach suggested in the Adobe Flash Builder 4 Reference page "Identifying problem areas"
    "One approach to identifying a memory leak is to first find a discrete set of steps that you can do over and over again with your application, where memory usage continues to grow. It is important to do that set of steps at least once in your application before taking the initial memory snapshot so that any cached objects or other instances are included in that snapshot."
    Obviously my set of discrete steps is the loading and unloading of a module. I load and unload the module once before taking a memory snapshot. Then I run my test that loads and unloads the module a large number of times and then take another snapshot.
    After running my test on a very basic module for 200 cycles I make the following observations in the profiler:
    Live Objects:
    Class
    Package (Filtered)
    Cumulative Instances
    Instances
    Cumulative Memory
    Memory
    _basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory
    201 (1.77%)
    201 (85.17%)
    111756 (24.35%)
    111756 (95.35%)
    What ever that _basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory class is, it's 201 instances end up accounting for over 95% of the memory in "Live Objects".
    Loitering Objects:
    Class
    Package
    Instances
    Memory
    Class
    600 (9.08%)
    2743074 (85.23%)
    _basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory
    200 (3.03%)
    111200 (3.45%)
    However this data suggests that the _basicModule_mx_core_FlexModuleFactory class is the least of my worries, only accounting for 3.45% of the total memory in "Loitering Objects". Compare that to the Class class with it's 600 instances consuming over 85% of the memory. Exploring the Class class deeper appears to show them all to be the [newclass] internal player actions.
    Allocation Trace:
    Method
    Package (Filtered)
    Cumulative Instances
    Self Instances
    Cumulative Memory
    Self Memory
    [newclass]
    1200 (1.39%)
    1200 (14.82%)
    2762274 (13.64%)
    2762274 (62.76%)
    This appears to confirm the observations from the "Loitering Objects" table, but do I have any influence over the internal player actions?
    So this brings me back to my original question:
    What memory stuff is unavoidable flex overhead associated with the loading of modules and what memory stuff am I guilty for, for not cleaning up object references? If these are the results for such a basic module, what can I really expect for a much more complex module? How can I make better sense of the profile data?
    This is my basic module soak tester (sorry about the code dump but there's not that much code really):

    Easiest way I've found to get your SDK version from within Builder is to add this: <mx:Label text="{mx_internal::VERSION}" />

  • How to use the Load Balancer Plug-in to serve multiple domains

    In SJSAS8.1 SE/EE the asadmin commands that create and maintain a load balancer configuration operate within a domain. When the load balancer configuration is exported an xml file is created that contains all the information for that domain. To make the load balancer plug-in balance the load for multiple domains, the loadbalancer.xml files can be manually merged to conatin the data that is exported from each domain's load balancer configuration.
    For example, 2 domains are created, both having a load balancing configuration. After exporting both configurations using the asadmin export-http-lb-config command, the user would then cut and past the cluster information into the single loadbalancer.xml file that resides under the web server's config directory.
    An example of the manually merged loadbalancer.xml file follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <loadbalancer>
    <cluster name="domain1">
    <instance disable-timeout-in-minutes="30" enabled="true" listeners="http://localhost:1026 https://localhost:38181" name="i1"/>

  • How do I get the loaded file_name into a variable?

    Hi,
    I am busy loading multiple flat files into my Oracle Database. I have defined a File Format for this and it works fine. However, there is a FILE_NAME field in my table, which should contain the name of the file where a specific record was loaded from.
    My question is, how do I store the file name in a variable so that i can use it to fill the FILE_NAME field in my table? I have defined my global variable $FileName but I don't know how to write the script to fill this variable.
    Your assistance will be highly appreciated.
    Ndahafa

    In DI 11.7 this is very simple because there's a new option in the file reader instance that adds the file name as an additional output column. You will find this option when you use a file format in a dataflow and check the file reader options (last set of options in the list). More information can be found in the Designer guide (File Formats chapter).
    In previous versions this is more difficult to accomplish.
    You would need to:
    1) use script and the exec() function to write al file names to a text file (something like dir *.txt > filelist.txt).
    2) read this file and write to a table
    3) in a loop read the file name from the table (with sql() function) and store in a variable
    3) in the file reader use the variable to acces the file
    It might be worth upgrading to DI 11.7 is you need the simple solution .

  • Need HELP with silverlight 8.1!WinRT information: The GPU device instance has been suspended.

    I have a winrt program and it works fine.
    Then I need this program to support silverlight 8.1.
    Then I meet a issue:When I draw something using d3d and loading texture async, my program crashes with

    WinRT information: The GPU device instance has been suspended. Use GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action.
    However, I try to run this program in emulator, it works fine.This confused me.
    Could anyone tell me Why this happened?My testing device is Lumia Icon

    Hi Y.H.King,
    You mean the same code works fine on Windows Phone runtime real device also Windows Phone Silverlight 8.1 Emulator but does not work with Windows Phone Silverlight 8.1 real device? Both on the same device?
    However a strange question is you are applying the code to Silverlight app, but your error information seems to be WinRT information. And which Lumia device are you using?

    Pls let me knwo the Tcode for the same
    As per my understanding ST03 can be used to view the report of previous information only.

    Balaji
    You have the analyze the load while 20 users executing the following transaction code.
    OS06 - operting system monitor and click on detailed analysis where you can monitor the various instances
    if do you find the other transaction which will show you load of current program being used by 20 users, please share with the expert communitiy to help to other users.

  • Making a Jpeg gallery with the Loader component...

    I'm trying to make a gallery using many loader component
    thumbnail photos that present their larger image in a different
    (loader component) box when rolling over with my cursor...Is this
    right? Is there an easier way I can do this?
    If I can do it this way easily, I'd like to. PLEASE, if
    anybody has the answer let me know, thank you.

    This sounds right. The nice thing is that you can replicate
    the loader component and give it various instance names and just
    point each one to its photo in your ActionScript.
    I did something similar here:

  • How to determine the load on the oracle server within a stored procedure?

    Hi,
    I have a subset of commands in my stored procedure that I would like to execute them only if there is not significant load on the database sever.
    What would be the best way to measure the amount of load on my database server within a stored procedure?
    Thank you,
    Alan

    It is not that easy.
    This stored procedure is called by a job that runs every hour. Half of the stored procedure code are mission critical and must run by any means necessary! The second half must run right after the 1st one and is nice to do.
    If I assign a lower priority it makes the situation worst, because then the job might take 3-4 hours and the same jobs run on top of each other over and over.
    I just oversimplified the situation, The point is I prefer not to run the less important PLSQL code rather than assigning lower priority and stretch it over timeline. These hourly jobs are not Oracle jobs and cannot run on top of each other. Last time this happened and I had to kill 12 sessions! (12 jobs in 12 hour)
    Trust me, estimating the load on the database server is the only solution.
    When I say load on the server I mean the load resulted from other oracle sessions on the same database server. This server is a single instance Oracle 10g Enterprise on Solaris. All I need is just accessing to some meaningful counters.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Alan

  • Web Dispatcher not doing the load balancing on the portal

    Hi Experts
    I am having a production issue where the SAP web dispatcher is not doing the load balancing on the portal.
    We have ESS/MSS portal with 1 Message server and 2 Application servers. The Web dispatcher is installed on the message server itself. Here is my Web disp profile file
    Profile generated by sapwebdisp bootstrap
    unique instance number
    SAPSYSTEM = 16
    add default directory settings
    DIR_EXECUTABLE = .
    DIR_EXECUTABLE = F:\usr\sap\<SID>\sapwebdisp
    DIR_INSTANCE = .
    Accessibility of Message Servers
    rdisp/mshost = <hostname>.com
    ms/http_port = 8111
    #Log and Trace
    rdisp/TRACE = 2
    SAP Web Dispatcher Parameter
    wdisp/auto_refresh = 120
    wdisp/max_servers = 100
    wdisp/shm_attach_mode = 6
    configuration as per SAP note 538405
    icm/max_conn      = 7000
    icm/max_sockets   = 14000
    icm/req_queue_len = 6000
    icm/min_threads   = 100
    icm/max_threads   = 300
    mpi/total_size_MB = 500
    mpi/max_pipes       = 14000
    wdisp/HTTPS/max_pooled_con = 7000
    SAP Web Dispatcher Ports
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=8888
    SSL
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=ROUTER,PORT=443, TIMEOUT=60
    SAP Web Dispatcher Web Administration
    icm/HTTP/admin_0 = PREFIX=/sap/wdisp/admin,DOCROOT=./admin,AUTHFILE=icmauth.txt
    wdisp/enable_j2ee_groups = TRUE
    wdisp/HTTPS/sticky_mask = 255.255.255.255
    In my Web dispatcher Admin page, I see all the three application servers, however the requests are going to only 1 App server. We are using ENd to End SSL configuration for the web dispatcher.
    We also have a reverse proxy in the landscape and reverse proxy is forwarding all the requests to the Web dispatcher. In Web disp Admin page>Dispatching Module>SSL End to END dispatching, I see only ONE table entry in the dispatching table and it is our Reverse Proxy.
    As all the requests are coming from only one source (Reverse proxy), it seems to me that the sap web dispatcher  is forwarding those to the same Application server every time.
    Can anyone please advise ?
    I also tried to configure logon group in NWA, the web dispatcher is detecting the logon group and all the app servers in the logon group. It still not doing the load balancing.
    I would greatly appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    Viny

    Vincent, can you please elaborate more ?  Is the web dispatcher not able to recognize stateful and stateless application requests ?
    I saw that the procedure for configuring SSL Termination on Web dispatcher is long and complicated and looks like SAP web dispatcher needs to have SSL certificate of its own. As we have no ABAP servers and only Java servers, I can not even create the PSEs using STRUST (as described in SAP help -http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/48/99c388d7c46bb9e10000000a42189d/frameset.htm
    We already have SSL certificates for Java App servers.
    I suppose there should be a way for web dispatcher to identify the incoming requests and forward to appropriate application servers.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Viny
