Webdynpro abap view layout error: Object espected

Hi guys,
I'm facing a problem when trying to add a new element in the View Layout of a WebDynpro Component.
I will try in the following to be more explicit about the problem.
The technical configuration is following:
Laptop::SAP GUI 710<---Home Network---> Server: SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version (Study System)
On my laptop I'm successfully connecting with SAP-GUI to the Server.
Then I open the SE80 transaction and create a new WebDynpro-Component. In this component I create a View.
Now, in the View Layout, when I try to add a new element, off any kind, I receive the error: "Object expected", Code C and the URL form the message is referred to localhost:8000/sap/bc/the/path/to/the/page/preview/for/mandant000.( I think that is a Java Script error.)
As result, in the layout, I kant see anything, allthogh in the ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER the added Element and his properties are showing up.
When I copy/paste the URL from the Error Message Window to the Internet Exploder, but changing localhost with the ip of the server, the page shows the element from the view.
I've tried to add on my laptop, in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\ hosts,lmhosts a name for the ip address of the server, but with no results. The port 8000 is fully opened, the server is running on a fresh installed OS without any other programs or firewalls. Telnet to servers ip port 8000 also works.
Also I've tried with the Transaction SICF to look over some configuration directives but found nothing.
Can any one help me solving this problem? I'm prety sure that I'm missing some config file or some configuration somewhere ....

I've looked using the transaction you gave me and only 2 services are listed: the http and smtp, both using localhost as address.
Using also the transaction st22, for error reporting, i have concluded that is about the icm service.
Now, I have searched extensive on help.sap.com over the issue of setting up/configuring an icm service.
My question/s:
In order to be able to solve my problem, I have to configure a new icm service? or I need to configure a new alias? or an external service?
I'm a little confuse after all that reading on help.sap.com, witch, by the way, was very helpful for me in acquiring new informations.

i am very new to webdynpro abap.i have one requirement.could any one can suggest me to overcome my requirement.
in my requirement i have one view.in that view i need to display one photo image which ever saved on my desktoop.if i click on save button i should generate one doc number and update what ever the photo image i have displayed in the view against this doc number.after some time if give the doc number in to docnumber field and click on display button it should display what ever the photo we have saved previously against this doc number.this is my exact requirement.i think for this we need to maintain one Z table to stroe the photo and respective doc.number.for this how can we stroe photo against doc number in ztables.what is the type i supposed to give for photo image field.
could you please any one suggest me on this and could any one send me the sample code if possible.

I doubt whether you can directly display the image from your desktop into the webdynpro application using Image UI Element. Only solution what I can think of is to load the image into the MIME folder and then bind the path of image in the Source property of the image UI element. But if you ask me this is not a good solution. Let me propose my solution. If no one get back to issue with better approach then you can follow the same
1. whenever the image the is uploaded from the desktop, create this image in the MIME folder ( you search in SDN for creating objects in MIME folder )
2. then bind the path of the image in Mime folder to the Source property of the Image UI Element
3. Once the image is persisted in the DDIC table, delete the image from the MIME folder.
4. to persist the image in DDIC table, create an attribute of type RAWSTRING.
5. Whenever you want to display image from DDIC table into the UI, then again create the image in MIME folder and delete the image from MIME folder when you are existing from the application.
Alternative would be to use the Mime repository for storing the image and in the DDIC table just maintain the Mime folder path for the document number.

Hi,
Yes you can make it global in administrative level.
1.In SE80 ,Double click on the name of your Web Dynpro Application .
2.Select Web Dynpro Application Menu .
3.Select Test->-> Execute in Administrative Mode from the menu.
Your application opens in administrative mode .
Go to the ALV settings make the changes and save it as some variant.
This layout will be default and global to all the users.

Webdynpro abap iview creation error

Hi All,
I created a wdbdynpro abap application using transaction SE80, and test that application successfully.
I want to display that application in portal, for that I created a SAP webdynpro iview succesfully. but when i was preview the created iview I am getting the message like: ' Page canot be displayed'.
Could anybody help me How to resolve this?.

Calling adobe form from webdynpro abap view

Hi,
I need some help. The situation is: I have created a Adobe form interface as well as a form using the SFP transaction. Now, I have a webdynpro screen with a button, which upon pressed must give the output of the PDF form.
I tried the following steps:
1. Call function 'FP_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'
2. Call 'FP_JOB_OPEN'
3. Call the generated function module name
4. Call FP_JOB_CLOSE.
The procedure works fine when I use the same code in a report program. It opens a dialog box where there is a option for Print preview and it displays the PDF.
But when I try to replicate the same, it does not work in Webdynpro for ABAP. Any suggestions as to how to go about this problem?

there is documentation on the Web Dynpro for ABAP integration of Interactive Forms in the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/aa/940ee5331b4b8fa0a6cb6714dc5db4/frameset.htm which should answer most of your questions.
You specify the form to be used during the design of your Web Dynpro application (you are prompted to determine it when you insert the UI element).
You can save the form from the Reader toolbar, the question would be why would you want to do this and not use a proper download screen.

Display of messages in webdynpro ABAP views

Hi,
In a ABAP WD component I have 2 views, connected through a navigation link.
If in the first view, a message is displayed using the message manager, a message area is shown on the top of the view with the message in it.
If now I navigate to the other view, The message area is still being displayed without any message in it.
Perhaps the message log is not empty.I do not wish to display the message area when there are no new message is reported.
How do I go about it?

Hi Rahul,
The message area is still displayed, because the message is stored inside of the history. Without displaying the message area, the user won't be able to access the message history. There are plans to allow a developer to switch off the history though (being just plans, so no eta).

The iView root is e.g.
folder1/folder2/check_workset1/iView
How can we call it using Absolute navigation or Relative Navigation.
I just want to call this path.

ISR with WebDynpro ABAP

Hi Experts,
We are building a custom HR application to automate various HR processes
like New Hire, Termination, etc.. Due to certain internal issues we are
unable to use the standard business package for MSS (and hence PCR screens
with adobe forms). We have to create custom webdynpro abap screens for the
whole application. Now i would like to check if there is a possibility to
use the ISR framework with a custom webdynpro abap application.
I checked the transaction QISRSCENARIO but i could not find any option for
webydnpro abap in "Entry type for Web".
Have anyone of you tried such a scenario earlier with ISR's? Is there no way
that we can use webdynpro ABAP applications with ISRs? Or do we have any
work around for this.

We need to embed these forms into our webdynpro ABAP views and code accorsdigly to get the data. There are some standard components that are provided by SAP to handle ISR Forms with Webdynpro. WebDynpro View Layout Preview Problem

Hi experts,
    I'm newbie in Webdynpro ABAP. I'm trying to develop a WDA application. Our servers are upgraded recently from 4.6C to ECC 6.0.
    When I incorporate view and go to layout tab while developing, the system gives me proxy error, page can't be displayed.
    I've gone through the related notes 1008689 1009930 and 517484.
    I've activated all the necessary service through SICF as mentioned in note 517484. Also Implemented correction of the note 1008689.
     Still I'm facing with the same error.
     What is HTTPPURLOC table ? How to configure it? I'm not understadning its documentation at all.
Any idea about this ?

we are at ECC 6.0, SAP_BASIS - 700 - Level 9.
I have activated all the services stated in the notes 517484, 1088717, I also implemented note 1008689.
When I am trying to display the view layout I am getting message No active plug-in found and the layout page shows like "The page cannot be displayed", so here I am not able to add UI elements.
I am not sure what else I am missing here.
I will appreciate if any body can help me out in this configuration.

I was gettiing runtime error while executing a Webdynpro-ABAP application

I am working on Webdynpro-ABAP and created a ALV report using Service call BAPI method in IDES version. After creating component and designed view and created Webdynpro application. While executing application I am getting some error in explorer.
For any application I am getting same error.
I think some setting in explorer..I am not sure. If yes how can I rectify ?

Doubt when launching an AdobeForm object in a Webdynpro Abap.

Hi Experts!
I built a simply Webdynpro with an "ADOBE FORM" object. The Form, is also quite simple (at the moment).
But I am having a trouble when the Form is launched. I only can see its Fields as a "READ ONLY". It is not possible to modify anything there.
Here, I describe the steps that I follow.
I create a very simple WebDynpro application. In its WD View, exist an unique Object (Adobe Interactive Form).
In that object, I set the properties:
"Data source": a context variable type "my structure". "My structure", is a simple structure with a couple or three fields, let´s say PERNR, BUKRS, WERKS... It is linked to the Form Interface (ABAP DICTIONARY-BASED INTERFACE). So in this way, the link between my WD and the AdobeInt.Form is working.
"PDF Source": a Context variable type XSTRING.
"Template Source": here I have set my Int.Form. Currently, it only contains a couple of fields
"Enabled": True.
"Read Only": False.
In the AdobeForm, I have draged & droped those 2 or 3 fields, save it, and activate it. I guess nothing more is needed for my test.
And at last, in the View´s method WDDOINIT, I am reading one of those fields, let´s say the employee number (PERNR), and I set by hardcoding its number (let´s say -> 00000001).
Until here, everything seems to work fine. When I launch the WD test, the Adobeform appears, at the moment, with only one of my fields (Employee - PERNR), and its value is filled in with '00000001'.
But now, I would like to write something by myself. And when I try to do it, it is not possible! Field PERNR, is displayed as a "READ ONLY".
Does someone knows what is happening here? I have seen in an exemple called "WDR_TEST_ADOBE" that it must be posible to have "OPEN FIELDS" in the adobeform...
Am I doing anything wrong? Or am I doing any mistake?

Finally I think I have found the problem.
In the View where I am printing the ADOBEFORM, it is needed this code under the method WDDOMODIFYVIEW.

Getting prob while creating view in webdynpro ABAP application

I am facing a problem while creating a view for webdynpro ABAP application. It is giving an error as "ICF service "/sap/public/bc/WebDynpro/ViewDesigner" inactive".
can anybody let me know how to solve this problem.

I think check Internet explorer Tools ->Internet Options ->Connections.>Lan Connections> if the proxy or anyting checkbox is clicked coz it doesn't work with Internet on .

In webdynpro abap , the ui layout is not visible. please read query fully

hi , in webdynpro abap , the UI Layout is not visible.
I did some settings .
1) in SICF t-code , i actvate the all services realted to http . i dont know which services properly need to webdynpro ui layout.
after activating those services, ui elements are coming . but when i am tryin to drag ui elemetns in to UILayout , it showing some error message. I am not able to drag ui elemetns to ui layout.
Please tell how to solve this problem.
1) if the solution is regarding ip address in host file, please guide me in depth step by step.
2) if the solution is realted to browser settings , please guide me in depth each step by step for settings in browser .

I had a similar problem..
if u hav a look at ur url you will come to know the following things:
<schema>://<host>.<domain>.<extension>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/<namespace>/<application name>
the same url can be traced in SICF.
Also u need to add the server ip/domain name in the advanced tab in lan settings so that it does go through the proxy..

WebDynpro(ABAP) - Defining a page layout

Hi!
I have the following problem: I want to design a two column page containing at least three WebDynpro(ABAP)-iViews. One is placed alone in the left column and should be around 150 pixel in width. The others are located in the right column and should use the rest of the screen.
I think I have to create my own layout, but I don't know where and how. And I'm not shure if it is possible to get a layout, that dynamically adjust the width of the left column. Is there any standard-layout available, that can do that?
Any hint on that?

In the SAP Enterprise Portal, you can process different application types in special iViews on the same portal page. Here, iViews can be included using different technologies (such as Web Dynpro ABAP, Java, or BSP). The communication between these iViews takes place through an event function u2013 portal eventing (or client-side eventing).
