Weblog, access and new user creation control

In the Admin Help, I am told to find a "Weblog" entry under "Computer&Services" in "Server Admin".
I dont.
Under "Web" is only the "Enable Weblog"
I want to stop anyone from creating new weblogs. Its supposed to be done somewere?
Were?
I also dont want anyone to be able to leave comments, can I do that?

To allow only some users to create blogs:
Create a group in Workgroup Manager called Bloggers or some such, then open Server Admin
Click on the name of your server
Click the Access Tab
Uncheck Use same access for all services
Select Weblogs and tick off Allow only users and groups below. Add your Bloggers (or whatever) group and click Save.
To disable comments in a blog, you can log into the blog using the Admin console at http://my.server.com/weblog/username/?flavor=admin. There is an option in there to disable comments.
Another way is to open the Library/Tomcat/blojsom_root/webapps/root/WEB-INF/user/blog.properties file and change Comments Enabled from True to False.

    The issue is due to that user have no permission to access the report server. In report manager, Reporting Services includes predefined roles that we can assign to users and groups to provide immediate access to a report server. Each role defines a collection
    of related tasks.
    You can refer to the following steps to assign corresponding role to the user.
    Open report manager.
    Click “Folder Setting” button. 
    Click “New Role Assignment” icon.
    Type the user name and select the corresponding role.

  • RoboSource Control 3 Explorer - Admin access and adding users

    Just started in a department where users working with RoboHelp HTML 7 are connected to a Windows XP PC on which RoboSource Control 3 Explorer is being used for version control.  The two guys who set up the system are no longer available.  I have the login for one of them, but do not know if he was the Admin or a subadmin in RoboSource Control.  When I go to Admin>User Library, I get the following screen.
    - None of the users show any rights checked.  - That's the first problem.
    - Is there any way that I can determine if the login I'm using is the real Admin?  Does the fact that I have access to the User Library tell me anything about this?
    - When I try to add a user, I get the error message "Error - you have insufficient rights to perform this operation."
    - I need to be able to add users and have Admin level control.  If the login I have is from the actual Admin, then I might be okay.  But if not, am I out of luck?  If that's the case, is my only option to take the following steps?
       1. Have a user check out all the project files.
       2. Disassociate those files from the RoboSource Control machine.  (There are hundred of topics in the project files.)
       3. Set up a new RoboSource Control with myself as the Admin.

    Umm, I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but recently all user rights for every single user in the user library (including the admin) went missing much like yours. I know for a fact that my user profile had admin rights, but at that time, no rights were checked for any user. (The admin user will have, if I'm correct, all the rights selected).
    I still don't know what caused the issue, but a simple restart of the server that hosts RoboSource Control was enough to restore permissions in our case. Maybe you could try that and see if the restart helps? Considering that the alternative is setting up a new RSC database, I would think it's worth a shot

  • Macbook Pro OS Lion couldn't access guest account and new user account

    Hi I bought this new MacBook Pro a month ago.  When I try logging into my guest account, it froze.  I had no other alternative but to get out of it by pressing the power button.  Then I tried open a new user account to see if it also has the same problem.  Unfortunately it did have the same problem - froze after I logged in.  I had done a harddisk check, there seemed to be no problem. So I wonder if this is a common problem of OS Lion? And are there any way for me to solve the problem?

    That is not a common problem with Lion.
    My suggestion is to take it to Apple and ask them to fix. Besides if you take it Apple then they are aware of your problem just in case it returns in the future.
    You might try a safe boot by holding down Shift during boot and seeing if that tells you anything.

  • Metro interface generation and new users / long logintimes

    One of the biggest problems with windows 8 and 8.1 on a domain, is the time it takes to create the metro interface for each new user that logs on the machine. In a public school, this makes the login time first time verry long, and since students never use
    the same machine twise it has to generate the metro interface everytime. Will windows 10 have better control over this? why not let metro app redirect just like the startmenu ?
    I have never managed to find a solution to the above problem on windows 8.1, so i were hoping microsoft would do something here, to make windows 10 more usable in schools and other places where users change computers offen.

    I believe BOTH microsoft and Lenovo have a responsibility to make their computers useful and accessable to AVERAGE USERS.  You should not have to reseach how to use Windows 8 on the internet to figure how to use the it. 
    When there is a problem with either the hardware or understanding the Operating System, Lenovo has a reponsibility to help the user.  A lost customer is a lost customer period and blaming it on Microsoft will not help Lenovo. 
    My specific problems with Lenovo were.
    Their description of how to use the operating system was buried as an  option under "Lenovo /Companion".  They should have come up automatically as part of the initial boot up proceedure. 
    When I found the "How to DO windows 8"  screen, it said click the "Learn More"  button.  There was no "LEARN MORE BUTTON".  Instead I happend to notice a small grey line was a hot spot.  The button did not display for some reason. Don't they test these things.
    The tutorials were to small and to fast to actually see what was being done.
    The tutorials were made for touch screen or mouse interface.  They were not set up for the touch pad that most people would be using.   They touch pad gestures are helpful once you know them but maddenting when strange things happen and you don't know why. 
    When I called Lenovo support, the first level support person did not know much about the operating system, he had to look up the answer to every question.   The supervisor was downright rude.  
    Lenovo and Microsoft must do better if they want to stay competative. 

  • ITunes music permissions and new user on Lion

    Lately iTunes has been making me crazy.  I had to create a new user account on my iMac due to problems with my original admin account.  I tried to move my iTunes music library by changing where iTunes looks for the media in the original account and pointing it to the iTunes media folder in the new account.  I had keep iTunes music folder organized, did not check off Copy Music and said yes to the "Do you want iTunes to move your media to match the new settings blah blah blah."  It did indeed move most of the files to the new account.  Prior to that change I tried to change the persmissions on the music folder so that both accounts had full access then chose Apply to Enclosed Items.  In fact, what I really want is there to be no permissions restrictions on any of my files.  Now as I add my music files to the new User's iTiunes library, it no longer organizes the music like it did before.   I checked info on a random file and saw the permissions seemed crazy.  There were like sixentries, duplicates and one that said Custom.  I just want to no restrictions on this stuff.  Permissions are such a pain.  I am not at some company where only certain people can access certain stuff.  I want full access to everything regardless of which user I am in.  Please help me sort out this permissions stuff.  I have read extensively about them but obviously still don't fully get it.

    I did that but now iTunes will not organize the files, presumably because they are set to the previous user.  It will add them, but not organize, which seems like it would mean the new user is only set to read only while the other can read & write.  I have tried changing permissions then choosing Apply to Enclosed Items but it does not always seem to change everything.

    I have created a new user and assigned it the required privileges as shown below:

    I am able to connect to database using this user username/password but when I am trying to fire any query like one below or to access any dictionary views it shows me the error message:

    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    What is that i am missing which is not set right for this user....Let me know

  • Grant access to new user

    I have created a database as 'system' and try to give access for other users. I created a new user with 'create user identified by passwd' and made 'grant connect to user' and 'grant select, insert, update to table'.
    But after that the new user can't select the tables, error is 942, Table or view not found. Same in sqlplus as with jdbc.

    Shouldn't you type:
    GRANT select, insert, update to 'user'
    instead of to table like you did.

    Hi, I've just installed DevSuiteHome1, OraDb10g_home1, and Oracle Developer Suite - DevSuiteHome1 and will be creating forms for an assignment. I've managed to log in to SQL*Plus with: "/ as sysdba" and successfully created a new user with a password and created a table "student", what privileges should I give this user (currently DBA) to allow them to access simple forms?.
    When I log in to SQL*Plus I get in without entering a "Host String", do I need this? What is a Host String?
    Also, though I don't need the database name just yet, I'd like to know how to find it!

    The more formal way of reading that is
    sqlplus user/password@service-information
    where service-information is somehow translated into a combination of 3 pieces of information
    1) how to find the host or computer where the database resides
    2) which port the listener is monitoring
    3) which service (commonly mistaken as database) to which the listener should provide a connection
    (A database, when 'running', has a default service that matches the database name.)
    If you are logged on the the same machine as the database, you can bypass the network and the listener by setting the ORACLE_SID and implying the 3 pieces of information.
    If you are remote, there are several ways of getting the 3 pieces. The most common is to use the TNSNAMES.ORA to translate the service-information alias into the needed information. The translation could also be stored in an LDAP database Using InstantClient you have added variations, such as 'supply the host name and assume the listener is monitoring port 1521 for one and only one database', or supplying the whole translation manually.

    Before the user will be able to actually see (and perform any operations on) your application system, he/she also needs to be granted access to at least one Workarea in which the application system is exposed! Note that the privileges available to a user on a Folder or Application System can be weakened by the privileges on the Workarea through which he accesses the Folder or Application System: the resultant privileges on a Folder or App Sys in a Workarea are the logical AND of the Workarea privileges AND the Folder/App Sys Privileges.
    If you have SEL INS UPD on an Application System and SEL UPD DEL on a Workarea and you access the Application System in that Workarea, you will effectively only have SEL UPD on the AppSys in that Workarea context.

  • New user creation in AE- user group not getting assigned

    Here is a typical case, wherein when we create a new user with AE for the production system, the user gets created and the roles are also assigned but the user group is not getting assigned. The user group is being fetched from a table from the backend and all that is working fine. Infact in order to test the configurations we even created a new user in the production instance of AE giving the development system as the target system for user creation and in this case the user was successfully created and the user group is also assigned. The problem is arising only when the target system is production system.
    Connectors are all working fine, but we are unable to think of a reason. Can somebody help us on this?

    If you are provisioning the user group using user defaults, check  that production system is selected in the user defaults configured. Configuration -> user defaults. You can define any user default system, but for perticuticular user defaults that is applicable define all the systems, in which you want user defaults to be provisioned.

  • Any new user creation gets: unable to log into user account error

    Sort of reposting from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2795507&tstart=0 as that initial question was answered.
    Anyway, running an xserve managing all network accounts (only local accounts are a local admin on each system). DNS checks out and all current users can log in fine. However, it seems any new user I create keeps getting this wonderfully ambiguous error. I've tried Guest (but figured it probably interfered with the Guest Account), Student (but thought it might be interfering with a group of the same name), Guest Student, and Temp User.

    Just making sure, you have selected the home location, and then actually pressed the "Create home" button? I have missed it few times and then wondered why it is not working. Then check the home folder location that it is actually there and created successfully.

  • Issue with new user creation

    We are using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.
    I am creating a new user using sharred services console and assigning a group to it which is already provisioned.
    Now i am able log in using this new user to the workspace but when i open the application, it gives an error 'failed to sync with user provisioning'.
    Even after refreshing the security filters in the database, i am unable to see the newly created user in the manage security filter list.

    Have you checked the logs are you getting any detailed error message?
    Have you tried loggin Planning application directly via 8300 port?
    Is it a migrated application?
    Is the direct provisioning works?

  • Time Machine after reinstall and new user acct

    3 TB eSATA drive used for months as TM back up. Drive had 300GB or so free space available after last B/U before having to format my boot drive.
    Following reinstall of OS 10.9.2,I was not able to transfer user files using TM after several trials - it simply locked up with no error message. So, I skipped using B/U and created a new uswer account with same name as previous user account but with a new password.  I then used the last B/U to manually restore user files and selected Apps.
    In System Preferences/Time Machine, I selected the same 3 TB TM drive I had been using and left the excluded items unchanged.  The B/U calcualted size was 2.72 TB, the same as before my set up with new user account.  Prior to starting a new B'U I checked TM and found B/Us going back for quite a few weeks.
    The next B/U for lack of space, with the mnessage that I only had 1.12 TB of space and the B/U needed 1.26 TB.  I recalled that I had added some items to one of the included external drives prior to the restore and after the last B/U, so I excluded those new additions.  The next B/U also failed and now the required space for the B/U was listed as greater than the first attempt.  More disturbing, the ONY remaining B/U on the 3 TB drive now, after several mnore effrots to exclude as much as possible, is the last B/U I did before the format and restore process.
    In Finder, the TM disk shows 1.12 TB free.  It lists 2 B/Us - the last successful one and one fron this mornign listed as inprogress.
    I changed my user account password to be the same as previously and logged out then bac in, then tried rebotting and after both times, the same failure occurred.  I used Sstem OPreferences to unselct the 3 TB drive and select another one, then reselected the 3 TB again - still no joy.
    It appears that TM is unable to add to the exsiting B/U and is trying to create a new one, or that it doesn't see existing files in the old B/U as the same as the new ones and is trying to create lots of duplicates.

    A supplementray question:
    I have one i-mac happily backing up with Time Machine to an external hard drive.
    I have just bought a second i-mac (stops the fighting!) and propose to use migration assistant to move my [admin] account from the old to the new i-mac leaving two other accounts on the old one. I see from your posts that it seems as if Time Machine will start a new back up series for the new i-mac's back ups. But what about the old i-mac? Will that continue to extend the existing Time Machine back up files, albeit without my transferred account and its files? If so, should I partition the external drive and start the new back ups from the new i-mac on this new partition. I'd like to end up with the old i-mac continuing to build its Time Machine back ups (less my account and its files) and have a new back up series from the new i-mac building to a separate partition on the external drive.
    Does this make sense? I can't see an answer in the forum to what must be a reasonably common issue in this expandin mac world.
