Weblogic (10.3.4) & Forms (11.1.1.3) manual start linux

Hi,
I am a complete newbie about Oracle Products. This is the first time I install an Oracle product. I never imagined that it will be that complicated.
Goal: install Forms 11g
How: I installed Weblogic 10.3.4 and tried to install Forms&Reports. I run a CentOs-64
Anyway, I tried to install Forms&Reports 11g but opmnctl failed to start during configuration and the installation failed. I unchecked Reports and the installation went well. Any clues ?????
Now, I have a forms installed without reports. That's ok for me. I modified the tnsnames.ora.
Do I need to restart my services. If so, how ?
If my pc reboots how can I start them manually ?

First and foremost you should take a look if your platform is even certified:

I don't see CentOS there at all. You might get lucky as CentOS should be binary compatible to RedHat. However; you didn't mention a version number so this is difficult to tell. Instead of using your unknown version of CentOS you could use Oracle Enterprise Linux as well:

Did you go through the documentation? If you didn't: as you have encountered the installation of OFMW 11g is not as easy as a doubleclick on a installer executable, so it is highly advisable to go through the documentation. If you have metalink (oh pardon: My Oracle Support) access you might look for installation advice there as well (cannot recite the note id's; however I am sure you know how to use a search engine ;) ).

How to install downloaded Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 for linux

Hi folks,
I downloaded d2k6irelease2.tar (Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release
2 for linux) from
http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/forms/htdocs/linuxsoft.html
I untar the file on my linux machine however the extracted files don't
seem to contain any installing program. I didn't find products.jar in the
files and there are no script to install the software. I read the attached
doc, however it only assumes that the installation is from CD-ROM. The doc
doesn't help anything for this downloaded software. I wonder if anyone
here know how to install it. Thank you so much.

There should be a text based installer in the /orainst sub-
directory
In that directory, just run the script:
./orainst
The installer seems to require libXm.a, which wasn't included in
my RH 7.1 installation, so I had to install the motif-
development libraries before the full install would complete
successfully.

PDF reports and forms11g, Weblogic, call report from form, parameters

I had difficulty to put to work reports 11g on pdf format. this is how I solve it.
I hope help any of you and also anyoe can correct me if Im wrong.
1. I have installed an configured the weblogic server 10.3.3, also Forms, Reports, Portal, Discoverer 11.1.1.3.0 and database 11.2
2. I re-compiled my forms and reports 10gR2 on 11g, also the pll libraries.
3. This is how I call the report from my form, I add parameters to a parameter list called PL then invoke the rp2rro prucedure that is located at rp2rrp.pl library:

I solved my problem editing the rp2rro.pll library,I debugged the library and I found the format sent by forms was missing, so I catch it and set it directly:
GET_PARAMETER_ATTR(mparamlist_id, 'DESFORMAT',vnumb,vvalue);
               setDesformat (vvalue);

Admin training for WebLogic Server - just the Forms and Reports parts

We will be upgrading our Forms & Reports application from 10gR2 to 11g. Our customers (well their DBAs) will need to install and manage WebLogic Server. So I'm looking for a training course where they can learn how to do that. The WebLogic Server admin course is 5 days, and another 4 for Advanced System Admin, which seems a lot as they are only going to use the parts required for Forms and Reports.
I have read through the tutorial Using Oracle Enterprise Manager to Administer Forms Services. Is this the extent of what they need to know, or is there another chunk of the iceberg under the water? Can you recommend a training course please.

After installing forms, the installer itself configures the WLS with the domains etc and also deploys the forms. Once after this, it is similar to that of 10g Application Server. All the maintenance of the forms is done using Enterprise Manager (EM Console). So, the section you mentioned should suffice.

Does weblogic server 10.3.6 & 10.3.5 supported on oracle linux 5.8 ?

I am trying to install weblogic server 10.3.6 on Oracle linux 5.8 (64-bit) platform. While creating domain , it does not take any input in password & conform password fields on "configure administrator username and password page". The field remains blank. I am stuck at this point and not able to create domain. The same issue is with weblogic 10.3.5 server. The java i used is jdk1.7 update 3 and jdk 1.6 update 27. In Both the cases i am not to create domain.
Can anyone of you tell me if weblogic 10.3.6 is supported on Oracle linux 5.8 platform. If it is supported any idea how to resolve this issue?

Can I add a customer comment form to a standard product manual?

We just recevied Acrobat X (and Frame 9 before that) and would like to use forms or form fields to get comments back on the docs (pdfs and HTML) from paying customers. So far, I have created a small form in a huge document (only 4-6 pages but with videos, fonts, etc.) and it's too big to email. Can I put it on a repository and get comments back? Is the adobe distribution server the only way to do this? Am I way off base with this concept? Thanks for any suggestions or clarification.

I would like to create a dropdown list in a pdf form without entering each value manually.

The data is huge and contains a a lot of product code numbers. It is extracted from our SAP system and I would like to either use an xml or excel file to create the dropdown list in the pdf form. I use Adobe Acrobat X.

This can be done with a script. XML files are more complex but Excel files, converted to a plain-text format, can be imported and then used to set the items list of a drop-down using the setItems() method.

Since I am a beginner in this area and nobody can help me at the office (but deadline is very close:) I hope somebody can help me at this forum..
So my problem is the followng:
I have a table 'Entity' with columns:
- ID// Name// Version// PreVersion and so on...
There is already implemented a form for Defining new entity. That form introduces Version = '1.1-0' (by default) and PreVersion = 'N/A' (by default), and of course Name and others are introduced by end user.
Now I have to implement a form for creating a new version from a specific Name and from an existing version (of course at the beginning there will exist only versions 1.1-0)
So I don't have idea at the moment which kind of form should I start with: forms on stored procedures or forms on tables/views or other type ?
The form should work in the following way:
when user executes it, he/she must give the Name and Version (from which new version must be created) and then a new row must be inserted with values copied from previous row (or if it's easier with NULL values); BUT Version of the new row must be a value entered by end user and PreVersion of new row must be the value of Version of the modified (previous) row.
For me it's difficult to imagine how can I solve a kind of parametrization in the form. I mean let say I have two columns in the form definition: Ent_name and Version where user gives the searching criteria i.e. Version and Name value of the row which must be modified, but how can I refference them in a SQL code let say added for example in 'Advanced PL/SQL Code' menu of form definition ?
I would appreciate any good idea just to give me a kick in what way sould I start ...

Hi,
You can reference the columns in the additional plsql code using session variables. All the columns are referred with 'A_' prefixed to the name of the column. You can make use of p_session.get_value_as_<datatype> to get values and p_session.set_value to assign values to these columns.

Form builder is not opening in oracle linux

Hi,
I have installed Oracle EBS in enterprise linux 5.8 . when i am trying to
open form builder with frmbld.sh following error occurs
FRM-91113: Internal Error: cannot get default resource file name.
FRM-10039: Unable to start up the Form Builder
can any one suggest me for a how to resolve this.

123.201.70.57 raouf.oracle.comWhy do you have two entries for the same host? Please edit this file, and make sure you have one IP Address for "raouf.oracle.com", run AutoConfig on the database/application tier nodes then try again.
For the browser, make sure you use a certified client OS/Browser.

Cannot start Weblogic 10.0 from Workshop 10.3 on 64 bit Suse linux

The following problem has cost me several hours. Maybe this will be helpful to others....
In Weblogic Workshop 10.3, after registering a Weblogic 10.0 server configuration (Servers View > New...) and creating a new domain (taking the defaults from the wizard), the server fails to start (right-click on server in Servers View then select Start). There are no errors, but a time-out occurs. From the console output, the server appears to start normally and the admin console is available in a web browser, but the State in Workshop never changes from "starting" to "started". This makes deployment impossible.
From another forum thread, I guessed this may have something to do with a 32-bit/64-bit Java Virtual Machine memory addressing problem.
Solution
I created a new domain using the wizard. In the domain-creation wizard, I selected a 64-bit JVM (not part of the Weblogic installation) instead of any of the defaults (which are presumably all 32-bit). With this, the server successfully starts.

WLS 10.3 and above require Java 1.6, and certain versions. It's recommend that you use one of the JVM's installed with the product. For 10.3, I think that is jdk160_05.

Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 for Linux install help

I've downloaded the tar.gz file and extracted it. Im a linux newbie and dont know much about linux. I've installed several files already but in this particular case, I dont know how to install a program with a tar.gz format. Im using ubuntu by the way and I have oracle forms running on WINE. I want to install the linux version so it will run natively.

First use gunzip utility to unzip .gz file. Once you are done, you will get a .tar file. Use tar -xvf to untar the file to a directory. It is similar to unzip.

Cannot start 2nd form on same application server when starting script in 1s

Hello,
we have a forms application running on a productive application server and the same application for different testing db's on a test application server.
Within this application I can start a stored procedure that writes a spreadsheet via utl_file. Depending on the parameters used this might last 1 - 2 hours. When I start the procedure the forms application is blocked as expected until the procedure is finished. This would be no problem if there wouldn't happen a strange thing to some users: When they start the procedure every forms application on the same application server is blocked. This means they can work in production when they start the procedure in test environment but they can not open another test application and vice versa.
As this only happens to some users (yet always the same) I'm lost where I have to search. I found no differences on the client machines, these are installed by a central administration tool.
Has anyone an idea where I can start searching?

I first wondered why this is happening only to some users. Now I found that it depends on the habit how the application is called.
The applications are called from IE with separateFrame=TRUE.
While I have a link in my XP start menue for every application and therefore start IE anew every time, other users use a website which has the same links. The difference I saw is, that I get a Java console for every application, whereas applications started from the same instance of IE share the same Java console.
So now we have a workaround (start IE again) but I still don't know why this is happening at all.

How to download oracle forms 6i for windows server 2003 or linux

hi all,
In my company there is a forms 6i server, now we want to move it to a new server for upgrade operations. for now we want to install forms 6i version on windows server 2003. on quick search I found it for xp but none for windows server 2003. if I try to install xp version I got "javai.dll is not valid" error.
how can I download it ? Company has license information also. what should I do ? for ex should I open a SR on metalink or something like that ?
