WebService Invocation from ADF

Hi,
What is the standard process for invoking a service from a ADF application? I know that I can make a Call the the service from the java code and populate reslts in ABF Business Components. I just want to know if there is any other standard way to do this?

Can any one provide me details about the same?
My requirement is to invoke a BPEL process from ADF page and display returned results as a table.
I have created a Data Control for the BPEL process an trying to invoke the process. I could see from the BPEL console that BPEL process is getting invoked. But ADF gets errored out with the following error message
WARNING:

    I don't know if you fixed it already by this time or not. But here is my findings anyway, to be able to inject the security header correctly in any SOA Gateway service, you need to have your Mobile Application Secured, meaning that there is a prompt for username/password when you open it.
    Then you will have to make a Proxy service for the webservice you are using from apps. And you must create it with a SOAP Handler also and write below sample code in the handler to inject the security header in the SOAP call. At last, you are going to deploy this proxy service to your Application Server.
    These steps were taken on a Glassfish server not Weblogic. I think there is an easy way for this if you are using Weblogic..
    Sample handler is below:
    package com.mobile.xxsoap;
    import java.util.HashSet;
    import java.util.Set;
    import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
    import javax.xml.soap.Name;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPEnvelope;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPFactory;
    import javax.xml.soap.SOAPHeader;
    import javax.xml.ws.handler.MessageContext;
    import javax.xml.ws.handler.soap.SOAPHandler;
    import javax.xml.ws.handler.soap.SOAPMessageContext;
    public class CustomSOAPHandler implements SOAPHandler<SOAPMessageContext> {
        private static final String AUTH_PREFIX = "wsse";
        private static final String AUTH_NS =
            "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd";
        public boolean handleMessage(SOAPMessageContext context) {
            try {
                SOAPEnvelope envelope = context.getMessage().getSOAPPart().getEnvelope();
                SOAPFactory soapFactory = SOAPFactory.newInstance();
                SOAPElement wsSecHeaderElm = soapFactory.createElement("Security", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                SOAPElement userNameTokenElm = soapFactory.createElement("UsernameToken", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                SOAPElement userNameElm = soapFactory.createElement("Username", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                userNameElm.addTextNode("redsam");
                SOAPElement passwdElm = soapFactory.createElement("Password", AUTH_PREFIX, AUTH_NS);
                Name passwdTypeAttr = soapFactory.createName("Type");
                passwdElm.addAttribute(passwdTypeAttr,
                                       "http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#PasswordText");
                passwdElm.addTextNode("123456");
                userNameTokenElm.addChildElement(userNameElm);
                userNameTokenElm.addChildElement(passwdElm);
                wsSecHeaderElm.addChildElement(userNameTokenElm);
            } catch (Throwable e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            return true;
        public Set<QName> getHeaders() {
            return new HashSet<QName>();
        public boolean handleFault(SOAPMessageContext messageContext) {
            return true;
        public void close(MessageContext context) {
    I hope it is clear now...

  • RESTful webservices invocation from OSB.

    Can some one please explain the best way to develop the OSB service to invoke the Restful services.
    1. Only proxy service is enough to handle the request, no need of business service?
    2. when moving the code from one env to other, we use a business service to update endpoint url which is the common approach we generally follow, to make the osb service loosely coupled. how to use the business service when invoking the restservice? does we have the base uri value in the transport url and will get appended with the relative-uri value which we frame as part of the request in the outbound variable in the proxy settings?
    3. when invoking the rest service do we need to append all the request message to the url itself or the request can be passed separately as request body and the main rest uri will have only the key fields as part of the relative-uri?
    4. If we receive huge request message does the URL support the entire request?
    5. how the response/error will be returned when calling the Restful webservice?
    I am assuming this appraoch. Can some one please confirm does this approach works with RESTful service invocation from OSB.
    Request processing:
    Source System request-> Proxy Service -> Transformation to end system specific -> Business service (with base-uri -> http://mainappl.com/web/cmr/{relative-uri from outbound transport}) -> endsystem
    Response processing:
    endsystem Response/Error -> Business Service -> Proxy Service -> transformation to source system specific -> source system.
    Please advice which is the best approach to follow while invoking the RESTful webservices from OSB.
    Thanks..

    Hi,
    Thanks for the update. Can you please explain the above mentioned approach works or how it should be?
    I have one requirement, can some one explain the implementation for this:
    I have one element which is of type unbound. I need to map this element to a single enelement value by separating each element value with a ;, before that I need to check wheteher this element(s) are present in the request then need to appened all these element values to a single element and the end of this element need to append default values.
    Scenario:
    <student>
    <name>asd</name>
    <address>
    <street>street1</street>
    <street>street2</street>
    <street>street3</street>
    ||
    ||
    </address>
    to be mapped it to:
    <student>
    <field name="NAME">asd</field>
    <field name="ADDRESS">street1;street2;street3;default1;default2;default3</field>
    </student>
    Here need to check if street names are present in the request xml, if yes ned to assign it to ADDRESS as mentioned above if street names present or not need to append the default values at the end to the ADDRESS field.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error in Webservices Authentication from ADF Page

    Hi All,
    I have created an ADF page which calls secured web services deployed in another weblogic server.
    While running the ADF page from local host (weblogic server installed on my m/c) it is working fine and creating the connection to web services but when I deploy same ADF application to the development server it is not making the connection with web service and throwing below errors..
    I analyzed the issue and found that
    •     Connection from local host: while creating the data control for web services from jdeveloper, am providing some user credentials for http authentication, only then we can access the webservices.
    •     Connection from development instance: however these credentials are missing while making the connection to webservices from development instance. Probably these credentials are not getting passed/stored in the EAR file through which I am deploying the application.

    Another way would be to update Your Credential Store.Using wlst, you can use something like:
    wls:/DefaultDomain/serverConfig> createCred(map="oracle.wsm.security",key="basic.credentials", user="USERNAME", password="PASSWORD", desc="User credentials key")
    This adds the key basic.credentials to the map oracle.wsm.security with the username as "USERNAME". This entry will be stored inside <your domain>/config/fmwconfig/cwallet.sso.

  • REST Webservice invocation from Java

    Hi Guys,
    I am developing an application that needs to invoke a REST webservice and submit XML data to it. The server will then process the request XML data, and return a result, etc.
    I have never worked with REST and have spent hours researching it on the NET. I have done SOAP calls in the past, but this seems to be eluding me some what.
    Does anyone know of any useful links that explains REST implementation, frameworks / jars needed, or possibly even an example or two that shows me how to submit data via REST to a URL (would be first prize :) ).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

  • Defining bc4j.xcfg for Webservice from ADF Application Module

    Hi all,
    I've already posted my previous question in JBO30003 while executing ADF Application Module WebService
    but no replies at all :)
    after thorough inspection, i found that why my client can connect to ADF AM and why my WebService Invocation is failed with JBO 300003. My J2EE Client application is connected to ADF AppModule with some configuration in CPX file.
    <JboProject
       id="DataBindings"

             </Parameters>
          </DataControl>
    and so forththis CPX file define that this client connect to Application Module on my AppServer with "AppModuleEmbeddedAS" configuration, as stated in my BC4J.XCFG.

          </AppModuleConfig>Now, how could I define configuration like my J2EE Client in my web service? as we know that web service's client is web browser. Does it mean that we can't define any CPX file?
    FYI, My webservice's End Point pages is successly shown up. but when i invoke the method, it returns XML with faultmessage Error JBO30003.

    Hi,
    You can directly edit the bc4j.xcfg file. Note that the WebService binding is not created from the Am directly but from the deployed WSDL file.

  • Issue with webservice data control while invokin bpel process from ADF side

    Hello Experts,
    we are creating webservice data control to invoke bpel process from ADF side.
    When I run the application and inovoke the bpel every thing is working fine.
    But when we are changeing the instances from DEV to SIT the bpel url(hostname and port) will change.
    So we just edited DataControls.dcx file and we just replaced the wsdl url and trying to run the applicaiton.
    This time the applicaiton is not invoking the bpel process.
    If I remove the webservice data control and recreate it with new WSDL url then it is working fine.
    Can any one tell us what the exact issue is. Is there any other files do i need to modify or etc.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Invoking BPEL process from ADF application - webservice connection failed

    Hi,
    I am trying to invoke a Bpel process from ADF page , I deployed the same in Standalone SOA server since I had to display some Human Task Forms.
    I created a webservice data control out of the bpel process and dropped the process method in my page.
    The page on which I dropped the process method stopped rendering and I checked the logs and found that I got the error mesage- webservice connection failed,the webservice url could not be reached and in the logs it also asks us to check if the connections.xml is available in the meta-inf directory. I checked the conections.xml is available in the EAR.
    So any pointers here and any one faced this error anytime?
    is there better ways to invoke the bpel flow from ADF page.
    Thanks,
    Robin

    Hi,
      Check if your wsdl endpoint can accessed properly. If yes, check the soap-binding address is properly pointing to the server hosting the webservice.

  • Can I obtain access token from ADFS 3.0 based on OAuth ACS-token that I already have?

    Hello!
    I have the following setup: iOS device, ACS/WAAD is IDP and ADFS 3.0 as RP, securing access to WIF web service.
    I want iOS application users to be able to access ADFS-protected web-service.
    I have created some users in WAAD, configured trust between ACS IDP and ADFS RP.
    ADFS is registered in WAAD with AppID = ADFSAppID
    I am doing the following request in order to obtain authorization token for iOS app user from ACS:
    const string issuerName = "[email protected]";
    const string issuerPassword = "Password!23";
    var authContext = new AuthenticationContext("https://login.windows.net/ADFSAppID");
    var uc = new UserCredential(issuerName, issuerPassword);
    var result = authContext.AcquireToken("http://adfs.appdomain.com/adfs/services/trust",
    "ADFSAppID",
    uc);
    _authHeader = result.CreateAuthorizationHeader();
    So, I have a token from ACS in JWT format.
    Now I need to present this token to ADFS in order to obtain a new token that I can use to access the web-service. I am trying the following POST-query:
    https://adfs.appdomain.com/adfs/oauth2/token?grant_type=authorization_code&code={0}&client_id=ADFSAppID&redirect_uri=http://web_service_url
    However, when I try accessing web service with that token, I am getting 403:unauthorized and redirected back to ADFS.
    I have already tries lots of code solutions, such as
    http://leastprivilege.com/2010/10/28/wif-adfs-2-and-wcfpart-6-chaining-multiple-token-services/
    http://www.cloudidentity.com/blog/2013/07/30/securing-a-web-api-with-windows-server-2012-r2-adfs-and-katana/
    http://blog.scottlogic.com/2015/03/09/OAUTH2-Authentication-with-ADFS-3.0.html
    But somehow the problem remains: I cannot get such authentication token from ADFS that it is accepted by my webservice as a valid token.
    Can anybody provide any links or code samples of token exchange between ACS and ADFS?

    Yes, it is. I was able to authenticate normally, if I am using ADFS as IdP for WIF RP.
    But when Azure is IdP for ADFS-protected WIF WS, I am unable to get tokens that would be accepted by WIF WS

  • Invoking BPEL process from ADF...

    All,
    I have deployed one BPEL process and invoking the same process from ADF test page. I created one Webservice Data Control for this process and did drag and drop to ADF page. It is working fine as expected.
    When I created data control, I gave the web service URL as "http://<hostname>:<port>/orabpel/default/<processname>/.......<processname>.wsdl
    My question is, if I want to deploy this BPEL process as well as this ADF page into another server, what will happen to this ADF data control ? since the hostname and port will not be similar for the new server. Do I need to change any params ?
    Or when we create data control itself, are there any options to achieve this ?
    Please let me know the details.

    Hi,
      Check if your wsdl endpoint can accessed properly. If yes, check the soap-binding address is properly pointing to the server hosting the webservice.

  • How to call OWSM secured web-service from ADF application

    I have a OWSM secured web-service, which takes username/password.
    I want to invoke this webservice from ADF application. ADF application has its own security and it takes its own username/password. End user can't provide the username/password for web-service call. My ADF application should call the webservice and provide it appropriate username/password.
    What is the best practice to handle such scenario. I don't want to hardcode username/password in Java (ADF) code.
    Thanks
    Sanjeev.

    it is not clear to me if you are having problems with calling java code from OIM or if the problem is the web service API.
    Lets do some divide and conquer:
    Can you create a simple java class that just writes a couple of lines to the log? Please attach this code to the OIM task and make sure it runs.
    Once this works we can start looking at the web service call.
    Best regards
    /Martin

  • Asynchronous Web Service Request-Reply Invocation from Service Control

    Hi all
    I need to invoke a reliable web service call using a Service Control. when trying to make that invocation for an operation that returns data. It gives the following exception. For the methods that marked with @Oneway() annotation in the service implementation, it works.
    javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: Reliable messaging will only work with one way messages or asynchronous request/response messages.
    </bea_fault:stacktrace></detail>]; nested exception is:
    weblogic.wsee.jaxrpc.soapfault.WLSOAPFaultException: Reliable messaging will only work with one way messages or asynchronous request/response messages.
    Caused by: java.rmi.RemoteException: SOAPFaultException - FaultCode [{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Server] FaultString [Reliable messaging will only work with one way messages or asynchronous request/response messages.
    ] FaultActor [null] Detail [<detail><bea_fault:stacktrace xmlns:bea_fault="http://www.bea.com/servers/wls70/webservice/fault/1.0.0">javax.xml.rpc.JAXRPCException: Reliable messaging will only work with one way messages or asynchronous request/response messages.
    </bea_fault:stacktrace></detail>]; nested exception is:
    weblogic.wsee.jaxrpc.soapfault.WLSOAPFaultException: Reliable messaging will only work with one way messages or asynchronous request/response messages.
    So I need to make Asynchronous Request-Reply Invocation from Service Control, which is apparently doesn't happen in this case.
    Thanks

    Hi HP,
    I included the following snippet in job source:
    //Set completion strategy to external
    jcsJobContext.setCompletionStrategy(CompletionStrategyType.External);
    I get the following error when compiled:
    JCS-102183: Compile failed for Job Definition SOAP_GlobalWeatherSoap_GetCitiesByCountry (Latest Version): SOAP_GlobalWeatherSoap_GetCitiesByCountry.java:user code 24:40:cannot find symbol symbol : variable CompletionStrategyType location: class com.redwood.scheduler.custom.SOAP_GlobalWeatherSoap_GetCitiesByCountry jcsJobContext.setCompletionStrategy(CompletionStrategyType.External);
    I am not able to find any information from the API documentation on the method setCompletionStrategy, so I'm not able to figure what type of variable am i passing, so that i can initialize it. Please shed some light on it.
    Also there is no path called Scripting > Built-In Web Services
    I have only Scripting>Published Web Services
    Thanks

    A service wont allow you to access the live instance of an application and instead create its own data session. So while you can query data that belongs to App2, you wont be able e.g. to access a users uncommitted data changes
