Website Help For a Novice

First, I apologize for the vague subject line. I don't even know how describe (in a few words) what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm was asked to create a website and the client knows I'm at a very novice level. My focus is print design. Though my education has touched upon web design, this is new territory for me.
The client already has the look and feel of the website and I'm trying to recreate that. I got the design down no problem, but there's an effect that I don't know how to recreate and I'm hoping someone is able to help out.
I'm not at liberty to give out this website, but below is a website I found that does exactly what I'm trying to recreate.

For this site, as you expand your window, the background graphic, most noticably the top bar and brown patterened background, continues forever and ever. How do I recreate this? Do I need to go into Photoshop and create the background graphic to be incredibly wide?
The other piece I'm trying to recreate is the white screened boxes that size as you shrink and expand the browser window. I understand frames in Dreamweaver, but frames are so linear and these screened boxes are not. In fact, they even overlap. How do I recreate this as well?

Help For A Novice User Of Adobe Audition v.3

We purchased Adobe Audition vs. 3 to record programs to put on the radio. The trouble is I am a novice with this program.
Where do I go to learn how to use this program? The only thing I need for now is to know how to :
(1)Record a voice track
(2)Insert a track off a CD for an open to the program.
(3)Insert a track off a CD for a close to the program.

http://www.lynda.com have some online training for Audition 3. I had a general subscription there and tried it out, and it's nice! It isn't free, but for little money you get up to speed very quickly and perhaps with a more hands-on approach that you'd prefer over reading yourself. We're all different.

Help for Macbook novice

Hi, apologies in advance if this is the wrong message board.
I am trying to help a friend with his daughters macbook. I am not particularly savvy with Apple products, having kept to my windows system.
This particular macbook had an issue with its hard drive, the drive was ultimately replaced, as no OS ever came with the computer she is struggling with how to get it working.
I felt certain that if she purchased it new, then she of course has the rights to whichever version of OS came with it. But the question is how to get it back on there?
I have read many articles on here and other websites. I read about holding command, option and R and triggering some kind of online restore, but nothing happens when i try this. A friend gave me a disc that is supposed to be a restore disc for MAC OS X, we are not sure this is the right OS, which gets me into OS X Utilities, however when i try to install OS X, I get a message saying that it was "unable to download additional components needed to install MAC OS X" I did have the wireless active before doing this.
If it were a PC I would have it sorted by now, I am sure it cant be this hard. Hoping somebody on here can point me in the right direction.

Help for a novice

Hi All!
I installed Workflow Server and Workflow Designer and now I'm trying to do
some things with these products in order to evaluate them.
The first thing I want to do is a very simple thing:
User A send an email with an attachment to be reviewed by the User B;
User B has a timeline of 30 minutes;
Then User B has to send back the documents via email to User A if he makes
some changes or send a email in which he said it's all OK with the original
documents.
I find on the SDK some qpacs and, in particular the one called email with
attachments that seems to be the one for me, but I can't do anything.
I RTFM, but I can't start to do something in the right way.
Can someone help me?

Help for a novice please

My Mum has BT total broadband and is having problems. I've been mauling about with cables, hubs etc all afternoon and the fastest speed I can get is 0.13mb.
Can anyone help cos am fast losing patience. thanks

If you've been constantly rebooting and re-connecting then you may well have driven down the IP profile. If that's the case, the best thing is patience.
You don't say what the stats from your router are. If your connection speed is significantly above the speed you are actually achieving, then stop fiddling and leave everything alone for 3 days and you may find it fixes itself.

Little help for a novice - Need a ps script to list user with their email only.

I need to extract every month the user list which have their email information on it, so i don't need to extract the user services etc from the AD.
Today, i'm using this script i made :

Help for a novice mac user

O.K. I've been a very satisfied Mac user since I switched from a PC last February, so much in fact, that even though my iMac 24" 3.06 is only 9 months old, I'll be getting a new i7 quad. My question is this: I now have an iTunes account on my mac and my wife has her account on her PC. I'll be giving her my old (if 9 months is old....) mac and was wondering how the itunes accounts will be transferred? When I open iTunes on my new mac will it recognize my old account and how will my wife go about getting her account from her PC to a mac that previously had my account on it.

The account is just a sign on. She would simply sign on to her account.
The music is a different thing. The itunes store does not keep a copy of your music for you online.
You buy ONE download, then it is your responsibility to backup your music. You should both have your music backed up. You can use this backup to move the music to the new machine.
Migration assistant (comes with every Mac) on your new mac will do this for you -from the old mac to the new one.
Your wife will have to copy her music from the pc and then move it to her new Mac.

PHP help for a Novice please

it, so, there is some syntax which I don't understand its function,
so I thought if I post it here somebody may be able to tell me what
it would do.....
A page has a form on it, the form begins with this

then has the form tag with
action="details_process.php?ref='.$ref.
now, the bit i'm not understanding what it does is the $ref =
$_GET['ref']; and the ref='.$ref. at the end of the for action.
I appreciate this is taken out of the page so may make no
sense, but if it is a standard function could somebody please tell
me what it is?

that form action is set to go to a process.php page

That's just a way of passing a variable to a page. Let's
assume that the
form page is loaded using a URL like this -
http://www.example.com/yourformpage.php?ref=whatever
When the form page loads, it parses the ref variable from the
link, so now
$ref has the value "whatever".
The form's action would create a URL like this -
http://www.example.com/details_process.php?ref=whatever
so that when the form is processed by details_process.php,
that process page
can act according to the value of the $ref variable, carried
through from
the page calling the form, to the form, then to the page
processing the
form.

Hi, My name is David and I followed a course creating my own website from Lynda.com by Paul Trani. After that I created my first own webste. After I finished it, everything was working well in flash and firefox. I have only one problem and question concerning the feed back form for sending info from my website to my emailaddres. I created my website “LisbonDreamWalking”in Flash CS5 pro. I herein have a contact page, where people can send an email for a walk in Lisbon, date,the number of people etc. Now I want through my ISP / host funpic.org, that the input, info text fields to be sended to my emailaddress [email protected]. I have tried the steps suggestedf including deleting cookies.squilte (which is not present on my computer after a search) to keep signed in to e-mail accounts at yahoo and gmail and they haven't worked? Suggestions for this novice + user, anyone??

Say signed in to email websites for yahoo and gmail, and i've upgraded to firefox 3.6 to try to solve problem and the options for selecting answers are not available to me (for instance did search for "cookies.squilte" and either that or profile folder search brought up anything like the forum answers indicated were successful. 3. tried select "remember PW" in options answers but no cookies show up to except/remove so that is not an option. Help for using camera raw in PSE 8/Bridge for Mac for the Canon 7D

Recently purchasing the Canon 7D, taking a few test photos in Raw, then trying to use Camera Raw in PSE8/Bridge for Mac is a problem. I cannot figure it out. Can anyone help this frustrated, novice computer user?

You need to update the camera raw plug-in for bridge and PSE 8 separately (they use two different copies). In Bridge, just go to Help>Updates which will install, I think, ACR 5.7, which works with your camera. (You can't update bridge beyond that version).
For PSE 8, go here, download the latest version and follow the instructions in the readme file.

Note that the directions may tell you that you can overwrite the old plug-in. That isn't true--you must remove it before putting the new one in there.

I have a charge on my itunes account that I did not authorize. Finding help for this type of problem from Apple or itunes is impossible. Who do I contact to get this charge taken off my account?

My checking account was debited by itunes for a subscription i did not order. How do I go about having it taken off? The entire Apple website and the itunes website is competely non-helpful for resolving problems. They should make their site equally as unfriendly when it comes to enticing you to buy their products.

You could simply type "Contact itunes support" into the google search bar. This would give you the link to contact itunes support.
Or you could just click the word Support at the top of this page, then click the link under Contact Apple Support.

Browser background uploaded to my mac host but not my real website :( help!

For starters, make sure you have uploaded everything. Your url indicates that you failed to upload the folder called HennaLounge (plus the index.html file that iWeb creates alongside it). If you did that, you may well have forgotten other things as well. Make sure you use a real ftp program like Cyberduck and not some uploader provided by your host. When your site is fully uploaded, your url will look like this:
http://www.hennalounge.com/HennaLounge/Home.html
If you don't like the duplication, change your site name inside iWeb to "hl" or whatever and republish and reupload.

I was charged 10 times what website shows for forw...

I was charged 10 times what website shows for a forwarded call, from US to Netherlands!
Charged $0.275 not $0.023 per minute.
How can i be charged so much for a call I received, when I was not warned? On the website, the call forwarding info page links to the regular prices page, it does not show the high rate even in the fine print!
