Weekly subscription email doesn't respect permissions

Hello everyone!
We have a group of users subscribed on a weekly basis to a folder that has many subfolders. The subscription is active for the parent folder and all subfolders to the complete depth.
The group of users subscribed don't all have access to every single subfolder. Some users have access to some subfolders, others have access to other subfolders. However, in the weekly subscription email, ALL new documents from all the subfolders are listed, and the permissions are checked at the time they click the link. If they aren't allowed to read the document, they get an 'access denied' error at that time.
Is this how the subscription is supposed to work? A bulk subscription email won't leave out the documents the user isn't allowed to see?

Hi Fallon,
your configuration is correct and the behaviour you have detect is as well correct.
This is a "missing feature". The subscription service doesn't regards the permission because the service generates the list independent of an user context.

Hey y'all —
I searched this topic but couldn't locate any new news since c. New Year's...
( i ) May I presume that the inability to have "Settings updated successfully" for anything but "Send subscription emails: Immediately (default)" is a system transition problem that hasn't made it to the top of the pile yet? Doesn't the attendant emailing ad infinitum put a big strain on the Discussions' servers?
( ii ) Will a "Never" or "Digest only..." option be incorporated in the subscriptions system, as time allows?
...or is it now, and I can't find it?
...or am I all wet?

( i ) Although I'm not sure the daily or weekly email notifications yet work completely as they should, personally I have no problem at all changing my Subscription Preferences and saving them immediately.
Also: Because it's only since two or three days that I've chosen "immediately" instead of "daily", I'm not sure whether this is a recent improvement, or was it that the problem existed only in the Daily/Weekly options: anyway, now the mails I receive clearly show, directly in the Subject, what the update is about. To me it is another step in the right direction.
( ii ) That's a good suggestion!
( iii ) Completely off-topic, regarding some of the old questions that I saw (among all the ones I missed):
- level4, even some of the so-called "Panther-only" versions, have always worked as well in Tiger. About the wrong website stating "Panther-only": I wrote to Volker yesterday, and he fixed this right away. The new URL is

- SuperDuper! and Archive&Install:
I don't know what a "Sandbox" is for (I don't use SD myself), but anyway the main purpose of a backup software is NOT to ensure OS health... The question of cloning also every fault is still there, but it is true that it's firstly a matter of OS maintenance and safe using (no hacking etc...).
About A&I: I am positive, 100% sure, an Archive&Install can bring back some faults from a previously corrupted system. At the moment that's exactly what I'm experiencing, with a permission mystery that I "saved" two times now, after two A&I...

Not working: Send subscription emails: Once per day?

Can someone please clarify/confirm what I should have in My Settings in Subscription Preferences.
They are currently:
Always subscribe to topics I create: Yes
Always subscribe to topics I reply to: Yes
Send subscription emails: Once per day
It's the last option that doesn't seem to work for me. Yesterday after spending a bit of time helping out all the new nano owners I opened Mail and has 67 posts yesterday, with 25 today so far.
Here's an example of 5 separate replies to one subject (numbered by me):
1. You have requested mail to be sent to you when messages to the Apple Discussions topic "how do I know when it is fully charged" are posted. hudgie posted "how do I know when it is fully charged" on Dec 27, 2005 12:25:46 PM.
2. You have requested mail to be sent to you when messages to the Apple Discussions topic "how do I know when it is fully charged" are posted. Jeff Bryan posted "how do I know when it is fully charged" on Dec 27, 2005 12:42:00 PM.
3. You have requested mail to be sent to you when messages to the Apple Discussions topic "how do I know when it is fully charged" are posted. Alison Bancroft posted "how do I know when it is fully charged" on Dec 27, 2005 1:50:26 PM.
4. You have requested mail to be sent to you when messages to the Apple Discussions topic "how do I know when it is fully charged" are posted. Alison Bancroft posted "how do I know when it is fully charged" on Dec 27, 2005 1:55:33 PM.

What I really expected with 'Send subscription emails: Once per day' was a digest listing all replies to all posts for a 24 hour period.
Have I misunderstood or is something wrong?

Subscription emails for news

Hi All,
I have a small problem with the subscription functionality that I can't resolve on my own.
When I create a subscription for the folder in which my news are located in, the subscription emails never get to be sent off. When I create a subscription on any other folder the subscription emails works as they should. Is there something that I'm missing here? Is there something extra that has to be considered when subscribing to news in the portal?
All suggestion are welcome.
All other email functionality, like send to and notifactions, works without any problems in the portal. I'm using a netweaver portal.

Subscription of the news is same as any other subscriptions. There is no additional configuration for this. Check for the permissions and service permissions set properly.

Fix bug FM-194: Calling seek consecutively doesn't respect the last seek. The fix is to let each subsequent seek through (previously we blocked a seek attempt if another seek attempt was underway). Update base unit tests. Modify ExamplePlayer's scrub bar to seek while you scrub, this is a good way to demo/test this behavior.

Subscription email preference problems

Starting about two days ago, I've been deluged with emails from the discussions...apparently each post to a subscribed forum gets mailed to me:
You have requested mail to be sent to you when messages to the Apple Discussions forum "Using Mac OS X Tiger" are posted. Jpfresno posted "Re: 10.4.10" on Jul 28, 2007 7:14:37 PM.
Er no, I didn't. My preferences page (still) says to send emails +once per week+.
Okay, maybe the recent upgrades lost that pref somehow, I'll just change it and then change it back. Oops, when I click "save" after changing it, the setting reverts to the previous ("once per week") setting, meanwhile the discussion system still behaves as if it's set to "immediately".

The Subscription Email Notification function of  Discussions, has been off kilter for weeks.
The SysOps & Hosts have been tinkering with it, and other features this past week.
Perhaps if you delete all of the  Discussions Cookies in the browser, and then reset in My Settings, the Email Notifications will behave properly for you once again.
If you wish to Unsubscribe, to the Using Mac OS X Tiger Forum, at the top of that page, click on Cancel Subscription to Forum.

Scheduling Daily Subscription Email

Hi,
I want to be able to schedule when the KM daily subscription email gets sent out. For example I want people in Europe to get this email at 9am CET and people in East Coast US to get the email at 9am EST.
Can anyone suggest a way to do this?

Yes, it is possible to configure the time at which daily subscriptions are sent. Just have a look at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/17/7481b6d5095b42bd804d1815201ebc/frameset.htm respectively in your CM configuration System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Scheduler Tasks -> Polling Scheduler Task. There you can define by choosing the appropriate time table when the subscription mail will be send.

I plugged it into my iTunes to see if it would pop up, but that didn't work either. My phone is updated, and I'm pretty sure I already accepted the new terms and conditions on the last update a few months back.

If you are having issues with your iPhone continuing to ask you to accept terms and conditions, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

How to include room name in subscriptions email?

I would like notifications and subscriptions sent from collaboration rooms to users via email to display the relevant room name that the subscription applies to. By default the emails display the room ID (609a34cc-eed4-2710-5492-987c69634cac) which gives no meaning to the user.

Hi Henning,
with NW03 SP13 the mails display the room's path instead of the RoomID.
As Collaboration Rooms are unknown to the Subscription Service, its not possible for the Subscrption Service to determin a Room's name.
Also there's currently no way to edit/add the properties used to render the subscription eMail. The only way I can immagine this might work is, parsing the path (given in the Mails XML/XSL) and try to determin the room name out of this information.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you did not sign out of your Apple ID on your iPhone before creating a new one, then you will need to sign back in with your previous Apple ID and then sign out. If you do not remember your password and do not have access to the email account, then you can reset your password by using the security questions.

HP Photosmart 6520 Server Connection Error: -1: Apps don't work and Scan to email doesn't work

My HP PhotoSmart 6520 has a persistent error to connect to the server and therefore Apps and Scan to email doesn't work.
I have manually set DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4, I have installed latest driver on my Macbook pro, I have updated firmware, but still not working. Weird is also that in my ePrintCenter, the Apps I see there are not in line with thos visible on the printer.
Detail is that I have set up the printer on a Windows PC but recently changed to Mac.
Printing, scan to Computer all works fine.
Help! I have read a lot on forums but so far no solution for me!

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are unable to connect to the apps and use the scan to email feature of your Photosmart 6520 printer due to a server connection error.
First off, thank you for the very detailed information, I really appreciate it.
To better assist you, would you please provide some additional information:
When you set the manual DNS servers, did you also set a manual IP address for the printer?
Have you changed routers or internet service providers recently? Have you updated the firmware on the router? If you have an ISP-provided router, do you know if they pushed out a firmware update?
Have you recently installed any new anti-virus/malware software? If so it may have blocked the ports the printer uses to communicate. I’ve included a post by VisionAiry titled “Check the Anti-Virus for Blocked Ports and Timed Scans”.
Do you have a guest network setup? Please Print a Network Configuration page. It will let you know how many networks the printer sees. A guest network will have the same name as your network with a tag about it being the guest network.
Previously did you customize the printer’s ePrint email address? I’m asking this because I might ask you to disable then enable the web services. If we have to take this step you will lose the customized ePrint email address without any ability to get it back.
What version of Mac OS X are you using? whatsmyos.com
Are there any cables other than the power cable connected to the printer?

Links in Subscriptions emails

Links in Subscriptions emails do not take you to the new post when clicked. Having to scroll to the new post (when the blue indicators are on) is a pain.

+The 'please respond to this post' link does exactly what it says.+
Not in Firefox. All links take you to the thread, not the relevant post.
Subscriptions are broken again, too.

Photos in emails doesn't appear

When I check my emails (hotmail) from Nokia E72 the photos which are in the email doesn't show, it gives me link for the photos only, but the photo itself does not appear. How can I get photos instead of the link? Is there any way?

It's just another unique feature of Nokia's email client.
Our offices have motion detection IR CCTV which send out photos of activity to whoever is on call.
My old phones over the last 5+ years (WM and SE) could display the photo within the email no problem.
The E72 just shows the link which can take an age i.e. several seconds to several minutes to download (the images are only 17MB).
Meanwhile the Android phones and iPhone both show the images as expected.

Well, if you have device control set to UNCONTROLLED DEVICE, that ignores timecode. Device Control must be set to Firewire NTSC (or Firewire PAL for Europe), or Firewire BAsic.
