Weird Bus Output.
Hey everybody!
I am troubleshooting for my university's music tech lab, and when we open songs that we started in Garage Band, or open Logic projects that were started on computers outside my university's computer lab, Logic assigns the audio output of the tracks to "Bus 21-22" instead of "Main Outputs 1-2." The result is there is no sound, and we need to manually go into each track of the piece and reassign the audio output. This is, of course, bizarre behavior that none of us experience with Logic when using it outside of the Music Tech Lab.
I tried trashing the prefs, but to no avail. Any thoughts?

I'm sorry, this feels a little inappropriate, but I have to ask you what school you go to. Music tech is a subject I am very interested in and I just applied to UVM. I get the same weird results in TOAD so I'm thinking it's environmental but SQL*Plus, SQL Developer and TOAD are all on the same machine and all using the same Oracle Instant Client.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour or have any clue how I might troubleshoot?It's a bug. We're pulling in the wrong stats as the ID have changed and our code did not.
It's fixed in version 4.0 which is now available as an Early Adopter release if you want to check that out and make sure it's to your satisfaction.
We've also improved the feature a bit. -
I try to observe a trigger signal which comes from the RTSI bus with an GCPTR0 output (on a card PXI 6713).
I use the following function:
Select_Signal(idevice,ND_GPCTR0_OUTPUT,ND_RTSI_0,
ND_LOW_TO_HIGH).

How are you monitoring the GPCTR0_OUTPUT pin? If you are using a scope, you need to be certain that you are sampling fast enough. Most of the trigger signals have pulse widths in the 25 to 50 ns range. To verify the present of the trigger signal on the RTSI line, you may want to route it to the SOURCE of the counter and perform event counting.

Logic bus output oddity.. Is my song corrupted or??
Ok so Im working on some remixes of my bands first lp..
This particular song Im working on, everythings great balance wise, but I wanna keep it so my peaks are around -3db..
Grabbed all my faders and dropped em accordingly, but noticed something odd with my tom tracks still being too loud..
I have 7 drum tracks, kick, snare, 3 toms, 2 overheads.. All of the drums, EXCEPT the toms are routed to a bus.
The toms go to their own bus for compression reasons, and that bus is then routed back into the bus the rest of the drums are going into.
So while I was trying to tame the toms, I muted the bus they are routed into..
I can still hear the toms hitting the main drum bus like they were going straight to that.
NOWHERE can I see anything odd in the mixer as far as routing.. All the rest of the drums go to Bus 1/Aux 1, while the toms get sent to Bus 7 (which feeds Aux 7) and the output of the Aux is set to Bus 1. I do have all the actual drum tracks using a Send to the reverb bus, but this isnt the reverb acting up..
If I mute Bus 7, those toms are still coming out loud and clear in Bus 1 only without the compressor thats inserted on Bus 7..
So what gives?? Did I miss something that might still be sending those toms to bus 1 first or does this sound like my actual song file has some corruption or some problems going on??
I still have the song open right now, and just for kicks went back in, soloed the drum bus. I put the three tom tracks outputs back to Bus 7, and that Aux channel actually has NOTHING set to input or output at the moment so those toms should be going nowhere out into space. But nope there they are clear as ever coming out of the drum bus still..
Oh yeah Im still on Pro 9.1.8 too since Im on a Mac Pro 1,1.. Running 10.7.5 but not sure that matters hehe..OK so which Software Instrument do you use for your drums? Can you please put up a screenshot of your mixer with all the relevant auxes and tracks in frame?

Hi everyone,
my main problem this time is that I hear no sound coming from the internal speaker of my G4 MDD 1.25 dual.
I have read some othe topics and I have trash the prefs and did the trick with the mini jack.
I have also install 10.4.11 over my old 10.4.11 using a combo update.
No results at all.
In sound prefs "choose a device for sound output" I see only Headphones.
If I plug a mini jack on headphones then I see the Line Out option!
If I plug in headphones they work normally, except I see the Line out option and I can hear sound including the startup chime.

Hi everyone!
My problem goes like this: I recently revised a sapscript driver program for the payment advice form, which is working fine in another version. The problem is, when I copied the subroutine to another version of the driver program, what it does is it includes in the final output the "test version" of the form, like what you normally see when you test the sapscript from se71, plus the pages with the actual data in them. I am really not sure what is wrong with the driver program, since it's working fine with the other version. The subroutine was originally copied off the include RFFORI06. For everyone's reference, The code is below, and the one marked PBA01 are my additional code. Nothing was added or changed to the sapscript.

Weird network output streaming....
This is what I notice...
I have made a simple file uploader, just for fun, which uploads files to my own file server, by a POST method through a multi-part/data form...
obviously I use an output stream to write the file content to the server..
say:
for(int i = file.read(); i!=-1; i=file.read())
uc.getOutputStream.write(i);
uc.getOutputStream.flush();btw, the above is just a very simplified code..
How come the upload does not finish when i=-1? I use a web analyzer to track my java program, and it tells that my Java program is still uploading file content despite i is already -1....
any explanation on this??

I have a user here experiencing some bizarre behavior w/ sqlplus.
If she logs into database ABDC as user X and executes any script that utilizes dbms_output, she gets the following printed out repeatedly:

If I log into the same database, as the same user, from my own computer, or toad, or a terminal window, then I do NOT experience the same behavior.

SQL*Plus writes it's output through stdout. Even ORA-XXXX errormessages are written through stdout. The stderr channel is only used if SQL*Plus is suffering an error and terminates abnormaly so you won't get ORA-XXX errormessages into your error file with 2>>.

Weird crashes outputting QT and/or rendering
I keep getting unexplainable crashes when either outputting a QT (from timeline or viewer) and/or when rendering on timeline. Using FCP 6.0.4, QT 7.5. It's happening pretty consistently. Tries trashing prefs- no change. Generally, all system parameters are properly configured (Disk Warrior all drives, all caches clean, etc.

As far as media goes... I capture native and then transcode to AIC via Media Manager. The problems I'm having are not clip-specific as far as I can tell, so I doubt media corruption. I make feature documentaries, so there's a LOT of media being used (100 hrs +). I just finished a long (3-year) project utilizing the exact same workflow, with no problems (although it was on my old PPC, which is why I am wondering about the Intel possibilities).
I'm wondering about the efficacy of re-installing QT, or FCP, or if there is a way to replace the FPC codecs for AIC only? Is this related to the preset files you find within the system (in the "Custom Settings" folder)?

thanks for the help , Shemetawell it is not that critical it is just a warning and unless you notice some functionality issues then i would not worry about it too much. it would appear that likely the source is not quite up to date with the current coding standards (or maybe one of the arch packages is a bit out of date)

Can't send to bus when in low latency mode?
My colleague and I have almost the same setup, except he is running OS X 10.8.5, and I'm running OS X 10.9.4, Both are running Logic X 10.0.7. He has Apogee hardware (Symphony 64 card to DA16X/AD16X), and I have a UA Apollo.
For some reason, this works on my setup, but not on his:
Set up a bus send on any audio or VI channel, and assign the output of that channel to outputs 3-4 (outputs 1-2 are both of our main outs). The purpose of this is to send to a cue/headphone box.
Set latency compensation to Instruments and Tracks (not ALL, setting it to ALL defeats this)
Turn on low-latency mode.
Turn on Software Monitoring (buffer is set to 64)
Record enable that track.
On my setup, I get signal on channels 3-4, on his, no signal as soon as record is enabled
Auto-input monitoring is off in both cases.
On my setup, the bus popup turns orange, but I still hear the signal, on his, it turns orange, but no signal.
All plugins removed on the track and the bus.
Weird.Bus Send is set the same on both systems, Post Pan, Post Fader, Pre Fader ?

I didn't consider that - somehow didn't think that plugins on the master bus (which is outputting on 1-2) could effect a different bus. Will check that tomorrow.
Do you by any chance have direct monitoring enabled on the Apollo, any input signal will be heard.
I do use direct monitoring on the Apollo, but that is not a factor - it's prerecorded material we are trying to monitor, not input signal.
Curious as to why are you running in Low Latency mode, it is for a specific purpose not something to be used in general recording/work.
He is running on an older Mac tower and uses a lot of plugins and prefers software monitoring, and finds that he has problems unless he enables low latency mode. I usually leave it off, I just wanted to see if the issue was present on my system as well, and it's not.

How to stream Logic's audio output live via internet
Hi there, I'm looking for a way to stream the audio output from Logic (or any other DAW) from one recording studio via internet to another studio… not for remote recording, just for the producer for "creative monitoring", because he's out of town… so the audio quality doesn't need to be top notch. (Talkback would e.g. be via Skype.)
First question: is there a way to do it directly within the Logic DAW, i.e. from one Logic app to the other (remote) Logic app? I.e. just a "mirror" of the audio output (as stereo) that Logic will send directly to a remote host? I.e. a built-in Logic functionality? (I couldn't find anything in the manual.)
Second question: system-wise I assume it would be possible to do it by simply routing the output channels through Soundflower or JackOSX, and then into an application like Skype, where you would have to select the respective Soundflower/JackOSX channels as input.
One problem: the whole thing shouldn't interfere with the regular recording and monitoring setup in the originating studio. So maybe it would be best to simply have an additional monitor output from the hardware console or soundcard going by audio cable into a second computer, which will use the incoming audio as Skype input.
In a similar vein: is there a way to create a second pair of stereo outs in Logic, which functions as a direct audio "mirror"? It means that I would have the main stereo out signal on channels 1 & 2 (as always), but then also have the exact same signal on output channels 3 & 4 at the same time, which I could route to the soundcard's 3&4 outputs or through Soundflower into Skype?

(1) All recording tracks plus playback tracks are routed not to stereo master output, but to a pre-master bus, e.g. bus 1.
(2) The pre-master bus (bus 1) output is then routed to stereo main out (1 & 2).
(3) On bus 2 (aux master) I select input from bus 1 (the pre-master bus), but route aux master bus output to stereo outputs 3 & 4.
(4) With outputs 3 & 4 I could then go directly into Skype, either on the same machine, or from the sound card 3&4 outputs into the input of a second computer running Skype.

Second part: bus output is used for submixes, for example, let's say you want the same EQ to be applied to all guitars in the song, so instead of using same EQ plug-in on all guitar tracks, you feed the output from these tracks to a bus track and use the effect just once on this bus submix. -
Modbus Exception Code (communication with an Inline bus coupler for Ethernet)

I have an Inline bus coupler for Ethernet (IL ETH BK DI8 DO4 2TX-PAC: http://select.phoenixcontact.com/phoenix/dwl/dwl13a.jsp?fct=dwl&asid=907909&name=db_en_il_eth_bk_di8... see page 23) and I want to communicate with it via modbus protocol.
In the manual, it says that the Modbus register for the local digital inputs is 8000. I use the MB Ethernet Example Master.vi in the Modbus Library in LabVIEW (Function code = Read Holding Register (3), Start address = 8000, Quantity = 2). It works the first time.
My problem is when I want to write into a register. In the manual, it says that the modbus register is (8001+X, and X=number of words). So I put these input: Function code = Write Holding Register (16), Start address = 8003, Quantity = 2). When I do that, I have an Exception Code 2, and I think it means that the address is not allowable. I've try several address and several function code and I always get exception code 2, 3 or 4...
I don't understand why read works but not write.
Can anyone help me please? I try to contact Phoenix Contact but the guy who can help me will be back at his office only next wednesday.

What do you mean by "bus" inputs and "bus" output? I know that I have 4 digital outputs (DO4) and 8 digital inputs (DI8) but I don't know how many bus that I have. I can connect to the module with its IP address, but in the page I don't have much information. This may be interesting:

I just tried to change quantity to 1 (because PD_words = 1), change the data array with one index, change the start address (8000 to 8035), function code to 16 and it says exception code 2 except for address 8001 (exception code 4: slave device failure).
Today I did what you suggest (incrementing the starting address (0 to 100 000) and I found some address without the errors... but these address are for the special registers (like modbus connection monitoring timeout, command register, process data watchdog timeout...).
I also did what you suggest about changing the stacked sequences to flat sequences and remove the outer sequence. Didn't really solve my problem hehe
