WGM Login Panel Error

When you stored the user credentials in your key chain WGM uses it but the "Connect" Button remains disabled until you changes at least on char for the user name (e.g. delete and re-enter the last char for the user name)

I assume that I had OD database corruption.
I resolved this issue by going backwards and restoring an OD archive two or three steps behind my current database and manually reentering the missing changes.
No solution to the edit problem, just stepped back.

  • Swing : login with error checking

    Hi all,
I am trying to write a login with error checking on the password. If password validation fail. It will remain there. If it passes it will go to the application. any samples and sites please.
    thanks

CardLayout would be good for this sort of thing - allows you to lay panels on top of one another and then switch the display accordingly.
Thus, when your app starts up you show the login screen and then once a user successfully logs on you switch to the main application screen.
I put a basic example on another thread earlier:

  • How do I get connected to a server on my network via an IP address?  When I try to open in a URL and login as a registered user with proper login it errors out saying there was a problem with connecting to the server?

I am new to Mac...How do I get connected to a server on my network via a hyper link IP address path?  When I try to open in a URL and login as a registered user with proper login it errors out saying there was a problem with connecting to the server?

Some of the following is going to use some technical terms — this area is inherently somewhat technical.
If you don't understand some part of the following reply, please ask.
Is this your own OS X Server system on your own network, or is this some other server within some larger organization?
You're posting this in the OS X Server forum, which is a software package that allows OS X systems to provide web-based and many other services; to become servers.
If it's your OS X Server on your network, then the network and DNS configurations are suspect, or the server is somehow malfunctioning or misconfigured.   This is unfortunately fairly common, as some folks do try to avoid setting up DNS services.
If it's a larger organization and somebody else is managing the server and the network, then you'll probably need to contact the IT folks for assistance; to learn the network setup and DNS requirements, and if there's a problem with the server itself.
The basic web URL "hyper link IP address path" — without using DNS — usually looks something the following, where you'll need to replace 10.20.30.40 with the IP address of your server:
    http://10.20.30.40
UptimeJeff has posted a URL that specifies the AFP file system; an OS X file share.  That's used if you're connecting to an Apple storage service somewhere on your network.  You might alternatively need to specify smb://10.20.30.40 or such, if it's a Windows file server.  (There can be additional requirements for connecting to Windows Server systems, too.)
If there's local IT staff available here, please contact them for assistance.  If these are your own local systems and your own local OS X Server system, then some information on the server will be needed.  (If you're on a NAT'd network, you'll also need to get DNS services configured and working on your local OS X Server system and your network — you'll not be able to skip this step and reference ISP DNS servers here — or things can and usually will get weird.)

  • Preflight Panel Error

I've recently started using the preflight panel in ID CS4 when I produce my company's 4/c process covers.
I have set up a custom preflight profile so that under:
    - IMAGES and OBJECTS > Image Resolution > color, grayscale and 1-bit images are checked off and set at minimum resolution of 300dpi.
    - COLOR > Color Spaces and Modes Not Allowed: RGB, Spot Color, and Lab are checked off.
                    > Spot Color Setup > Predefined Spot Colors Must: Use CMYK Equivalents
However, when I place some EPS files, I'm getting preflight panel errors indicating that the EPS file has an effective resolution less than that of 300dpi I set in my custom profile, and that the "content" uses spot color.
I opened up the EPS files in AI CS4 and the doc info says no spot colors. And when I package the ID files with the EPS graphics, the summary says that no spot colors were found. Also, these are postscript files...why would I get a resolution error? Besides, the EPS files are at 100%.
Why the spot color error? Help!

Run the EPS files thru Illustrator and sava as to proper current .ai files and replace and see if the problem persists.

  • After creating a contained database, getting a login failure error while trying to connect to it.

After creating a contained database and a user with passowrd under the same database, I tried connecting to the contained database. I entered the server name, login credentials and went to the connection properties tab to select the contained database using
<browse server> option under "connect to database". Here I get the login failure error.
    TITLE: Browse Server for Database
Failed to connect to server <servername>\<login>. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
But when I manually enter the Database name instead of selecting from the <browse server> option the connection gets through.
Is this a Bug ? Has anyone else faced this error?

    Hello,
Is this a Bug ? Has anyone else faced this error?
It's not a bug, it's working as intended. Contained users don't have instance level permissions and cannot "login" to the instance (which is what the "browse" button is attempting). In order for it to work, the database name must be in the connection string
(which with the browse button, it will not be).
Welcome to contained users, they aren't for everyone.

I have a lot of grief with this version of Windows Media Player.
It is very buggy and frustrating to use.
I have my Music library on a QNAP NAS, which is as reliable as they come.
System notifications make it not save changes.  It also does not do a good job of interpreting albums and artists from folders.  Changes to track names are not saved, nor are tracks moved to other albums, renamed albums, changes to genre, artist
or date.  It separates and merges albums/tracks without sense or reason.  Some changes I've made up to 4 times, then closed WMP and re-started my machine to check if it has/hasn't saved the changes.  Often it has not.
This is the first time I've used WMP in this capacity, and I do not recommend it.
    New service pack please.

  • IPhone 3.0, the WiFi Login Panel and passwords that change daily

Does anybody else use their 3.0 iPhone regularly with a WiFi LAN that requires web login … AND the password changes daily? I connect daily to one that has Cisco authentication that I must get through each day with a different password.
The first few days I ran with 3.0 I was impressed that it detected the need to login and presented me the Login-Panel. However, I think the code/logic of this new 3.0 feature is, in the background, trying to re-login using the previous username/password I gave. If it felt the need to re-login that day, all is well. If it try’s that the next day, it’ll fail. No problem, as the next day it does present the login-panel again and I enter the new user/pswd combo.
However, after doing this for over a month now, about 20% of the time when I go to login in the morning my iPhone studders, crawls, and character echo in the login-panel can drop down to one character every 15 seconds. I’ve had to force power-off and reboot half a dozen times. Not always, but enough to make it a problem.
    Anyone else encounter this?

No, I have not encountered that situation.
BUT.... I suggest you talk to the System Admin for the Cisco network and ask if they can move you to a user or admin group that does not require daily password changes, or perhaps 802.1x if security is critical?
    Maybe...

  • Using Setup Assistant to migrate a 10.4.11 server to a new SL server, and have login panel before hardly anything has happened

We have a 10.4.11 server, running on an antique 1.0GHz G4 Xserve.  We have purchased a mac mini server to replace it.  The Xserve only runs 3 services:  AFP, FTP and Open Directory (Master).  (We are considering reconfiguring the new server as an Open Directory replicate to another OD master on the network later.)
I've RAIDed the two disks on the mini and reinstalled the OS.  It restarted, went through the language setup, put in the serial number, etc., and got to the "Transfer the information from an existing server" choice.  At that point, went and made a SuperDuper dmg of the 10.4.11 on a firewire drive.  When that was done, moved the firewire drive to the mini server, it appeared in the box as a choice for migrating from, selected it, and hit "continue."  It went through a couple of automatic screens with progress bars -- but it only took maybe 3-5 minutes, and then the machine rebooted.  It took nowhere NEAR long enough to have copied the data over -- the clone took nearly 3 hours to create, and it's running through a firewire 400.
So now the machine is sitting there, with the login panel up.  The firewire drive with the Xserve's image on it is still plugged in, and the blue light on the front of the drive is flashing like crazy.  What the heck?  I can't imagine that I should be logging in to the new server if it is in the middle of transferring data over!  Is it copying data?  If yes, how am I going to know when it's done?  If not, what the heck is it doing and what do I have to do to get it to copy the data over?

Called Apple.  They said, "Oh, yeah, Setup Assistant doesn't actually work from 10.4 to 10.6"  (So WHY don't they fix it?  Why don't they take the manual off of the web site?)
Moved on to Plan B.  Hooked the firewire drive to a G5 mac.  Stuck the 10.5 server disk into the G5, and upgraded the firwire drive to 10.5 server.  Booted off of it, changed the IP address and name, upgraded to 10.5.8, tested that our applications all worked.  Then hooked the firewire drive back up to the mini, ran through the 10.6 server initialization, and at the end selected the firewire drive as the "source" for “Transfer the information from an existing server”.  It went through the same as it did when it was at 10.4 -- did a few quick things and then rebooted and none of the data had transferred.
Now we are at Plan C.  Booted the mini off of the server install disk, and tried to upgrade the firewire drive to 10.6.  Told us we can't because it needs to be GUID.  After saying a few appropriate obscenities, got another firewire drive, formatted it GUID and are now doing a copy from the upgraded-to-10.5 firewire drive to the formatted-GUID drive.
Plan D is to upgrade the new drive to 10.6 server, try to boot the mini off of it, and if it works, use DiskUtility to copy it to the mini's internal RAID.

  • Can't install ML, simply reboots to login panel???

I'm running a year-old iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011, OSX 10.7.5). When I run the Mountain Lion installer, everything appears normal up to the reboot phase. It then proceeds to reboot the machine back to the regular 10.7.5 login panel. The ML installer never runs!
    What is going wrong here???

You keep amending your post here above... making it difficult to grasp and comment... or do I better wait a while?
(Note 2: This same procedure has worked fine on other machines, just not this one.)
Obviously, you have developed "your own procedures", and then it is hard to impossible to troubleshoot...
Guess you'll have to elaborate on those procedures, or also develop your own fix. Sorry.

  • Terminal login:PAM error: Critical error-immediate abort

I have previously posted this question under Tiger Forum, but have since discovered this Unix forum.
I do not have any understanding of Unix, but as described below have been forced to use Terminal due to a Printer Setup Utility error.
This is a copy of my original question:
Printer Setup Utility recently wiped of my selected printer (HP 2710) & when I attempt to add it again gives the error "server-error-service-unavailable."
Under Terminal Help there is a solution for this problem
    (also @ http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107054),
however when I open terminal the follow error appears, "login:PAM error: Critical error-immediate abort."
I have no idea what this means or how I could fix it (& then hopefully my printer setup utility).
    Thanks for any suggestions

    Hi Justin,
Where it's located (or should be) is in the directory 'pam.d' which is in the directory 'etc' on the boot drive '/'
    Thus the path: /etc/pam.d/
    The file is called 'login'
    To see from the Finder:
Because the /etc directory is invisible in the Finder use 'Go to Folder…' from the 'Go' menu (commandshiftG) and type in the path to the directory, i.e. /etc/pam.d/
This will open the directory if it's there. The 'login' file will probably open in TextEdit for viewing.
    To see from the Terminal:
Either cd (change directory) and list...
    <pre>cd /etc/pam.d
    ls</pre>
or just list without changing your working directory...
    <pre>ls /etc/pam.d/</pre>
View the file in question with cat (concatenate and print)...
    <pre>cat /etc/pam.d/login</pre>
or if you've changed your working directory, just...
    <pre>cat login</pre>

  • Mirror the login panel?

It's strange that I can't find anything about this online, but here goes: I've got an application where two monitors are in two different rooms. The monitors aren't the same resolution and I don't mirror the displays, BUT: I need the displays to always be mirrored when the login panel appears, because I need to login from either room.
Is there a way to make sure that the login screen is always mirrored on both monitors?

well, I know that, (I wrote it in the post). The background of the login window is very easy to change.
On the other hand, the blue screen that appears BETWEEN the grey screen and the login window is not..Or you don't have such blue intermediate screen?
    Any clue on this?
