  • IMac G5 running OS 10.4.11. Started playing with a bluetooth speaker (may or may not be related). Now I cannot get past the blue screen on startup. I can get into safe mode. Tried install disc for disc utility and reloaded OS. Still get blue screen.

I have an older iMac G5 running OS 10.4.11. The other day I started playing with a bluetooth speaker (may or may not be related). Now I cannot get past the blue screen on startup.
I can get into safe mode. But no regular startup.
I tried disabling bluetooth, thinking that might be related. It didn't help.
I even tried using the install disc to run disc utility. That didn't work so I reloaded the OS.
But I still get hung on the blue screen when trying a normal startup.
    All help would be appreciated.

Try resetting the PMU/SMU and PRAM/NVRAM. You'd need to identify the mode of resetting depending on the model of your G5 iMac. The Apple support sites that would help you for this are –

  • Blue Screen Mayhem....Can someone help me please.

Thanks for all the advice, Now for a conundrum that is linked (I bealive) to the IRQL....Blue Screen Stop Error.
as a reminder the system hardwear setup at current is this:

I have turned of all caching apart from the internal cache with the Auto PNP OS in the bios disabled and the rest of the settings on default, I have also updated the Bios from AMi 1.4 to AMI 1.5. On trying to install W2k I recive (half way through the installation) randomly the following Blue screen stop errors:
    a) 0x00000050
    b) 0x0000001a
    c) 0x00000023
    d) KMODE_....can't remember the rest (at work)
    e) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
on XP installation I get the following:
    a) 0x00000050
    b) 000000008e
    c) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    d) 0x0000007b
I have tried installing XP with the internal cache disabled and it works very slowly but does eventually install XP, on enabaling internal caching XP blue screens and restarts the computer automaticlly after around 5 - 30 mins of use. the same with windows 2000 but it freezes on starting up the first time.
I have also run memtest86 v2.9 for 3 hours and it has come up with the following results (total errors found 82):
    badram patterns:
    0x0fe15008,0x0fe15008,0x0dd11008,0x0dd11008,0x0f714808,0x0f714808,0x0de14c0 8,0xffffffc,0x0c70d000,0x0c70d000,0x0de14a78,0xffffffc,0x0de14ac8,0x0de14b1 8,0xffffffc,0x0d701008,0x0d701008,0x0b529008,0x0b529008
on this I would go out and buy new ram, but as the problem only comes up (for XP) when I enable internal cache, could it be the Stick of ram or the CPU Cache? I have been told by a local dealer that Xp does not like Cache, how can this be? it slows the system down so much when disabled. I am almost in dispare on the problem. please could someone help. I'm confused weather its the CPU or memory stick or (dread to think) the motherboad or even all 3.
    Many thanks,
    Quinton.

Yes it could be cache on the cpu going bad.....Is the cpu new?.....try taking the system down to nothing but mb/cpu/1 memory/1 hdrive and /1 cdrom drive.....And maybe try installing the os with memory and cpu underclocked to see if it makes a diff.

  • My phone is switched off and then shows a blue screen, then yellow then white, can u help me?

Iphone 5s is switched off and then shows a blue screen, then yellow then white

I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them  the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??

  • Blue screen crashes with specifc error starting to show up on restart

I keep getting blue screen crashes and as I start up the system I get this error constantly.
c:\users\computeruser\appdata\roaming\newnext.me\nengine.dll error can you please send me a fix for this issue.

In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
    If
you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate
    to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and all
DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload
the zip containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Prefered sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers.
    4 (optional): The type
of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps
in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains much more
information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps
    are much larger in
size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
    If
you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
    Upload
    photos and files to Onedrive.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, by default
will delete .DMP files upon use.
    If
your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type %systemroot%
which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key + Pause
key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives'.
    3. Windows key + Pause
key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check that
    the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is
not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click
    Apply.

  • Startup Blue Screen

I have an external hard disk attached to my MacBook Pro, and I use it as my Time Machine backup. Recently, when I press the power button to start up my Mac, the process will stall at the dreaded "blue screen". This occurs after the grey Apple logo, but before the login screen.
A bit of investigation revealed that if I unplug my external hard disk (by pulling its Firewire cable), the blue screen disappears immediately and I can proceed to login as normal.
I've tried using Disk Utilities to verify/repair the external disk, as well as resetting PRAM parameter, to no avail. I've even used Disk Utilities to completely erase the external disk and reformat it as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", but the problem persists. The external hard disk is otherwise functioning as normal.
Can someone please tell me how I can kill this annoying blue screen? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Cameron,
I would suggest trying a Safe-Boot (Hold down shift after the chime), if that works, then it could possibly be an issue with startup items.
If it reaches the blue screen, that means that it has loaded the EFI and the kexts etc. SO it doesn't really sound like anything to do with your HardDrive.
Perhaps take a look at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1411#symp1.
    Might help you out
    Good luck

  • I can not boot past the blue screen, but safe mode is fine...

I have no clue what I did...
Everything was working fine on my iMac (which is from like 2008). I did a file migration transfer from my Macbook pro to the iMac and everything seemed to be good. I could see everything, etc. I went to update the software on the iMac since the computer has not been used in a while. After everything updated and installed the computer restarted and has not been able to move past the blue screen when booting. I can start in safe mode just fine. I have done everything I can find on how to trouble shoot with no luck.
I have reinstalled the OS X
I have held down every combo of keys when restarting the computer
I have made sure the correct disk is highlighted for starting up
I have done everything I could find online...
I do not have the option to erase under the disk utility, or repair?
I am so lost and have no idea what to do. Did the migrate do this? I could use any help! Thank you.

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Re: Equium A210-1AS - Blue screen and can't start it

My computer was working fine, i shut it down, the next time i start up it shows the windows loading screen, then for a second a blue screen flashes by, it restarts and repeats, i shut it down and started tapping F8 untill the advanced boot options comes up, safemode ect... none of them work and all lead to the blue screen, if i select the repair option at the top "Repair Your Computer" it begins to load with a vista background and cursor and then shows the error "The installed program cannot start. click OK to turn off the computer."
in Advanced Boot Options i try "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and the blue screen stays up so i can see it, it shows a usual blue screen error, reading:
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
    STOP: 0X000000ED (0X85DDA600, 0XC000009C, 0X0000000, 0X0000000)
I do not have a recovery CD as i believe there is a recovery partition, but i don't know how to access this-
    I am using Equium A210-1AS
    Part Number : PSAFJE-005005KS
    Windows vista 32bit
    Thanks,
I know know the recovery partition is accessed theough "Repare your computer" but just shows "The installed program cannot start. click OK to turn off the computer." :/
    null

    Hello
In my opinion the case is clear: If you cant start the HDDrecovery feature (btw, its not a recovery partition!!!) using Repair my Computer option, you need the Toshiba recovery disk to reinstall it and get factory settings back.
Im wondering that you dont have a recovery disk. You didnt create it? So you didnt read the user manual but this should always be done before you do something with computers.
Anyway, you can order a new recovery disk here:

  • Radeon 9800 pro 256mb hanging on blue screen

I'm deep in the waters of frustration right now, and am hoping someone here might have the answer.
About 3 months ago I was looking for a video card for me to run motion. I saw the 9800 mac special edition with 128mb video ram had rave reviews. At that time ATI was not making them. So I turned to eBay...
I purchased a card that was advertised as a Mac 9800 pro special editing 128mb. I later found out it was a flashed pc card. The ebay seller told me the card worked fine on all his mac's that he tested it on.
The problem I was having was the machine boots up, I see the grey screen with the Apple logo and spinning wheel. I see the blue screen where normally I see the login progress bar loading the OS. But with this card I only see the blue screen. I hear the hard drive churning, so I am assuming it is still loading the OS, but I cannot see anything. I can reboot in safe mode and the video card works fine.
Well... I assumed it was the fault of the card and that it was flashed. I returned the card to the ebay seller, who sent me another one, same results with that one. I returned the card to the seller and he refunded my money.
I put the money toward the just released Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition 256mb card. I just got it a couple days ago and am experiencing the same problems. I have tried everything... everything I know and still can't get the card to work? Here is a list of what I have done:
    With the flashed card:
    1. Shut off computer and unplugged it. Removed OEM video card and installed ATI 9800 card. Plugged the power supply cable for the card into the computer power supply cable and hard drive.
Problem Occurs: When starting up, the grey screen comes up with the Apple on it, then the screen turns blue, where I typically would see the progress bar of the system loaded up before the user login screen. I only see a blue screen at this point but can hear the hard drive working for about a min.
    2. Restarted the computer in safe mode.
    3. Logged in as Admin user and opened the ATI preference pane to verify it sees the card.
When the ATI preference pane was loaded the following error message occured:
    A startup problem has occured.
Cannot connect to ATI TVOut Kernal Extension. Some features are not available.
Clicked OK and the ATI preference pane appears.
    4. Close the preference pane and reinstalled ATI Displays 4.5.6. Restarted computer.
    Problem Occurs
    5. Restarted computer holding down AppleOption+PR to clear PRAM. Cleared the PRAM 4 times in a row, by allowing the chime to happen 4 times.
    Problem Occurs
    6. Shut computer down. Disconnected the DVI plug for the cinema display and connected a VGA CRT monitor. Started computer.
    Problem Occurs
    7. Shut computer down, disconnected the VGA CRT monitor. Reconnected DVI plug and restarted computer.
    Problem Occurs
    8. Started the computer in safe mode. Logged into admin account. Opened the ATI Preference pane.
When the ATI preference pane was loaded the following error message occured:
    A startup problem has occured.
Cannot connect to ATI TVOut Kernal Extension. Some features are not available.
    Closed preference pane.
Went to ATI site and downloaded:
    aug2005-radeo-universal-rom-update.dmg
    Ran the updater.
    Restarted computer.
    Problem Occurs.
    9. Restarted the computer in safe mode. Changed the login preference pannel to automatically log into the administrator account. Restarted computer, waited for the blue screen, then walked away for about 2 hours with the computer on blue screen, hoping the system was loading or doing something.
    Problem Occurs.
    10. Put in the TechTools Pro CD, hoping to run some tests on the video card from the cd. When booting from the CD OS...
    Problem Occurs.
    11. Enabled Root user. Logged in as root and installed ATI Displays 4.5.6 from there. Restarted computer.
    Problem Occurs.
    12. Shut down computer and installed old video card.
    13. On an internal hard drive in the computer. Wiped the drive and formatted it. Installed 10.4.1 on the drive. booted up into the drive, installed ATI drivers, shut down computer, installed 9800 pro video card, booted up.
    Problem Occurs.
With the new 9800 for Mac ATI card with 256mb:
With original card, install drivers, repairpermissions, shut down, install new card
Set to restart in single user, give 5 min to see if ATI monitor startup item in user starteputems loads
Hooked VGA & DVIt in together, both showed blue screen
    Reset NVRAM via open firmware
    Reset cuda button
Take battery out, wait at least 10 min, re-install new battery, press cuda button
    Reinstall ATI update 4.5.6
    Reset nvram from open firmware
In ATI control panel, selected 'Force Single Display Operation'
    Change display scaling to 50%
Download latest Mac OS update from apple & reinstall
    Help?

I get dizzy just thinking about it.
I have tried installed a brand new OS, 3 different times on a different Hard Drive, still the card doesn't work.
I had one person suggest that it may be the card is not communicating with the OS Window Drawing module? (excuse my ignorance of what that is really called. I just know there is some program, possibly in the kernel, that is responsible for drawing out the OS windows.)
How can we rule out that it is a bad AGP slot?
•The slot works fine with my 9000.
•It works in safe mode with the 9800.
•I have installed a brand new OS, three different times, still doesn't work.
•I have used Apple Hardware test to test my hardware, the AGP slot didn't report any problems.
I am assuming that the AGP slot is working. Although I worry about it a bit, because by now I have swapped cards in it about 50 times in my troubleshooting.
Here is a link to a complete list of everything I have tried:

  • PLease Help!! Leopard and Blue Screen

I know there is a lot of discussion out there about a blue screen after installing Leopard. Well I had leopard installed and working for a while and then one day i started having issued where iTunes would lock up my MacBook and I would have to restart the MacBook because i could not stop it from "determining gap less playback" It would do it every time i plugged in my iPhone or my iPod. So everything was working great other than the iTunes issue. Then one night while my wife was using the MacBook it turned off on her so she proceeded to turn it back on only to have it boot up to a blue screen. Keep in mind we had been running Leopard for a few months this was not a brand new install. I purchased my MacBook used from a fried who did not provide me with the CD/DVD's to restore the MacBook since he lost them in his move. So I have searched far and wide trying to resolve this issue. I have booted into Single user mode and did the command prompt options...
    1. Reboot into single-user mode (hold Cmd-S while booting machine)
    2. Follow the directions OSX gives you when you get to the prompt (I think these were them - just type the two commands it tells you to):
    fsck -fy /
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    3. Remove the following files:
    rm -rf /Library/Preference Panes/Application Enhancer.prefpane
    rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/Application Enhancer.framework
    rm -rf /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Application Enhancer.bundle
    rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.unsanity.ape.plist
    4. Exit, to continue booting normally
    exit
    restart
I have tried to boot the MacBook in safe mode with no luck. I think i have done everything i can. I called Apple support and was told that the MacBook is out of warranty by 408 days. Can i buy the restore CD/DVD? Is there something that I am missing? What am I not doing? Please help me???

Does the Blue Screen happen after the Gray screen with the Apple logo and the spinning gear below it or when you turn on the computer you see the blue screen right away? You can try resetting the PRAM. Turn on the computer while holding the CommandOption+PR. These buttons will reboot your computer manually so let go after you saw the computer restart by itself. You also mentioned that you installed Leopard on your computer. So do you still have the Leopard install disk with you? If you do, boot from that disk. With the Leopard disk inside your optical drive, press the C key while turning it on. Once booted, try do repair the disk permissions and disk in Disk Utility.
    Hope this helps.

  • Blue screen and "startup disc is full" error

My iPad2 is frozen with an "unaable to download app.....' error and after unsuccessfully trying to turn it off, I attached it to my MacBook Pro to try to sync it.  Nothing happened so i restarted my Macbook Pro.  Upon start up, the MP screen went blue and the error message "Your Startup disk is full" appeared. I hit OK & was left with a blue screen.
After disconnecting the ipad2 from the MP and restarting the Mp, same issue appeared.  Turned MP off and started in single user mode (Cmd-S).  Typed 'reboot'. came back up again with blue screen.
Tried single user mode again & typed 'fsck -fy'. System ran a checking routine and came back with "**The volume MacIntosh HD appears to be OK".  Entered 'shutdown -r now' to same results - blue screen , start up full -
    Now what?
Looks like I'm running Mac OS X, 10.6.8
when I go to start up ion via the option key network startup has a ? Mark.  Chose the startup with Mac OS...

I understand CS4 does like to use a lot of space for scratch space when making complicated image changes. Verify you are able to control how much scratch space it uses in such functions. If you aren't, maybe it is indicative of needing a separate partition or hard drive to store CS4 temporary drive. When you have a separate partition or hard drive, you can erase the drive, and avoid fragmentation of files larger than 20 MB. Normally Mac OS X doesn't suffer fragmentation, except with large files as explained here*:
