WHAT A BUNCH OF FRAUDULENT RIPOFF CHARACTERS AT VERIZON

In November of 2013 I made the most horrible mistake.  I contacted Verizon and agreed to a 14 day trial of Verizon Home Telephone Service.  The equipment arrived and, as my wife said it would, it sat unopened in the box until I returned it (within the 14 day period).  I have spent over 16 hours on the telephone with Verizon after that, each time in response to receiving a bill for service that was never initialized, activated nor used, and equipment that was returned.  Each time Each Verizon Representative agrees that I returned the equipment in the timeframe and after wasting nearly an hour of my time wants to transfer to me another representative who will take more of my time, transfer me to someone else, etc. etc. etc.  It has now reached the point of extortion where they demand $340 or they will sue me.  My pal, who is a lawyer, says I should wait for that and sue them back.  For my time.  What does the community think about this?  What else can I do?

    horrified,
I understand why you're concerned and upset; I know it's important to be only for the services used. This is not the experience we want you to have with us and want to get it resolved ASAP. Is this a wireless phone (Home Phone Connect)? What date was the equipment ordered? What was the exact date you shipped it back?

Verizon won't allow me to apply the $14.13 that they owe me on the electronic gift card that they forced me to take as payment. What a bunch of sleazy scammers!!! With all the billiuons of dollars that you guys make, why do you have to scam me out of my $14? I was told by on line chat that i could buy screen protectors with it. Ha! Or redeem it in the store. AT the store I was told I could redeem it online. Why do you guys have to cheat people and make so many hoops to jump through that all I want to do is never use your services again? You alienate me, all for $14. How much am I and all the influnce that i have over my friends and family worth to you guys? Obviously less than $14. FYI, I have started a social media campaign exposing your sleazy business pratcies!!! Thanks!

Have you tried using it for purchase with customer service over the phone. I have used gift cards to pay part of my bill through the phone or online.

  • What is the maximum number of characters in an Oracle 10G Instance Name

    All,
Can I know what is the maximum number of characters in an oracle 10g instance name under AIX? Is it 7 characters or 8 characters?
    regards
    Santhosh

One should really make the difference between db_name and instance_name: if instance_name default value is db_name it can be different
(even on a non RAC database).
For example with Oracle 10.2.0.4 you can create a database named DB78 with instance_name=DB12345678:
    $ uname -a
    Linux lx01.localdomain 2.6.18-92.el5 #1 SMP Fri May 23 22:17:30 EDT 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
$ ps -fu oracle | grep smon
    oracle    6353     1  0 20:30 ?        00:00:01 ora_smon_DB12345678
    oracle    6412  5596  0 20:37 pts/1    00:00:00 grep smon
    $ export ORACLE_SID=DB12345678
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba

  • Customer Services! What a bunch of useless idiots!

    What a bunch of idiots.
3 times now i have tried to change my direct debit details....it seems impossible to do this! For 3 months now they have taken my direct debit from an old account. I am getting charges of £35 per time for this.  Then they get it right and take it out on the wrong day, again incurring a charge.  I now have £140 in bank charges AND late charges on my bill.
The indian call centre blame me for this! Cheeky sods! Saying there were incorrect funds available in my account. No clearly the lack of English of his colleagues has caused the problems.
I have now been cut of and i am standing my ground here.  I will not pay BT until this charges are refunded.  I believe they actually owe me money! See you in court with your telephone scripts.....and bring your cheque book!

    Hi AngryKaty,
    Welcome to the forum.
I can look into this for you and get it sorted if you want. Can you email in your forum username and BT account details to the email address registered against my profile, and we'll get back to you?
    Thanks,

  • What a long time, loyal customer hates about Verizon.

I've had Verizon since the early 2000s, and don't plan on changing that any time soon. But only for one reason: coverage.
Everything else? Phones, customer service, etc? Abyssmal, and always has been. Not to mention their ditching of decent data plans, yet they offer loads of free cloud storage. Really?
I have a Note 3. Its awesome. But every phone I've ever had has always been last on the update block, even if it's brand new. They always load crap onto them, lock them up, dump features they don't like, and make it impossible to really experience your phone how it was advertised.
I will never go into a contract with them again either. I have my unlimited data still, and the day they try and take it, I'm gone, as that and coverage are the only things keeping me.
Don't get me wrong. When I say customer service I don't mean the people. Most of their employees are great. What I mean is what they offer customers and how they milk us for money, yet we don't get the quality of a decent phone experience as payment.
The phone is, and should be, the absolute priority. The market revolves around it. It is the reason for the market.
So this is my question: Why can Verizon not just give us phones with removable bloatware and decent update schedules? Not to mention unlocked bootloaders.
It doesn't make sense to me from a business perspective. Their competitors can only compete in the phone quality ring. Verizon already won the coverage fight.
So, why can't Verizon JUST LIBERATE OUR PHONES? Their competition would be nailed by it, people would flock to Verizon, and old customers would return. Heck, they could probably still get away with their data cost robbery.
Look. I love Verizon for their coverage. Their phones are great, but when Verizon gets their hands on them, kills updates, locks development, and dumps bloatware that nobody wants onto them?
Verizon works for the customer. If their phones reflected that, they would be king.
So. Why not? Please tell me.
-Partially satisfied, loyal, extremely critical customer.

Abosultely Crazy. You know what is funny is currently I work for Verizon but I have my S4 through T-Mobile. I seriously dislike the service that I get but I need unlimited data due to me averaging 12GB per month. I have been at a crossroad for quite some time now because I want to get the Galaxy S5 but through T-mobile I will need to pay Full Retail Price and get poor coverage. Granted, I live in Metro-Detroit and I have amazing LTE service at my home and everywhere I go which would be work and back. Ha. If I leave the big city I immediately lose coverage. I got 4.4 about 1-2 weeks ago. I can't remember the exact date, it is pretty nice. Not a whole lot changed really. Built in Emojis are enjoyable.

  • What are the ASC11 and hexadecimal characters for wireless passwords?

I am trying to set up my wireless airport and have no clue what these characters are. I use a cable modem and a router for my current setup but now have an Extreme  and Express to go wireless. I remember seeing a diagram for setting up a home network but can't locate it now that I need it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Are the characters numbers? Letters? OR????
Are they to be entered in a certain order or font???

  • What's up with the fat characters in my PDF? (I and L)

Outlined type in illustrator (CS 1) exported to PDF and then combined (2 pages) in Acrobat makes my resultant file have "FAT" characters, namely the I and Ls, respectively. Acrobat 6.0.2 professional, Illustrator CS 1. HELP!

    Guys,
this issue has just come to light for me in the last couple days.
Here is what I believe is happening:
Some outlined text or even graphics that are nice even rectangles in illustrator are changed to stroked lines in Acrobat. And only in Acrobat from what I've seen.
I found this out by digging for a while in Acrobat, and discovering View > Wireframe!!!!!
Try this with your files, and you'll see exactly which characters and objects are being affected. The biggest news to me from my customer, and the reason I've dug into this SO tenaciously, was that IT WILL SHOW UP ON THE PRINTED PIECE!!!!!!!!!
So, far I've found this to be true only when the pdf file is printed from Acrobat. The stroked line weights are imperfectly generated by Acrobat, and apparently subject to interpretation by the DPI of the printer used!!
If your client takes the file back into illustrator, it will print fine, view fine even in Outline mode, and continue to give us that warm safe feeling convert to outlines has always given us in the past.
TAKE NOTE ADOBE, YOU NEED TO INFORM USERS AS TO WHY ACROBAT DOES THIS!!
(Steve Ð hinting?... outlined text is vector art, and unless you create it in Corel Draw, it is scalable to ANY size without degredation. Make sure you know what your talking about before you condemn a valid and often necessary feature!)

  • What happened to Find/Change Special Characters

I am a recent update from FrameMaker 9 to FrameMaker 11. I use many notations with non-breaking hyphens and non-breaking spaces. In version 9 I was able to use the hex codes in the Find/Change dialog box and find and replace those notations. Now in version 11, it does not find those characters. I end up finding more than I want.
For Example: I want to find
    (E-Vote Sept. 12, 2008)
This text has a non-breaking hyphen and the spaces shown are non-breaking also. When I entered these characters into the document, I used "Esc hyphen h" key sequence for the hyphen and "Control+space" for the spaces.
When I enter "(E\x15Vote\x10Sept.\x1012,\x102008)" and press the Find button, FrameMaker converts the text to "(E\+Vote\s#Sept.\s#12,\s#2008)" and returns with a statement "Not Found." I get the same error if I copy the text and paste it into the Find/Change Dialog box. I have tried this with the "Consider Case," "Use Wildcards" and the "Whole Word" checks both off and on. I can't get it to find it.
Honestly, I never noticed if verstion 9 did the conversion, from \x15 to \+ and \x10 to \s#, in the Find/Change dialog box because it always found what I was looking for.
I hope someone can tell me how to fix this because this is a function that I use all the time in FrameMaker. I use non-breaking hyphens and spaces all over my documents.
I have also reported this as a bug because that is what if feels like to me. I did go out and updated my installation of FrameMaker, thinking that this may have been reported and fixed already.
    One Sad FrameMaker User
    Chris

    Chris,
That's odd. It (dialog-box codes) works for me on my systems:
Using the dialog-box codes works perfectly. The unicode values for the non-breaking space (nbsp = \u00A0) and non-breaking hyphen (\u2011), however, aren't working. It looks like the wrong glyph is being substituted in both cases.
This is definiely a bug when doing a unicode-value search.

  • What is the maximum number of characters in a FrameMaker 11 variable? in a FrameMaker 11 marker?

Thx to anyone who can answer today's FM trivia question!!
    -Matt

Trick question - with or without the use of the FM GUI?
    1. Via the FM interface to define a variable, FM will only save the first 1022 characters of your variable definition - if you dare try to enter that many via the GUI dialogue slot.
    2. Importing a variable via MIF, adds virtually any length - I've tested out 2510 characters. HOWEVER, FM will only display the first 1023 characters of this string.
If you save the file to MIF, you can still see the original length of the variable. The other caveat is that if you touch any of these long variables via the FM GUI (Edit Variables), then FM will truncate it down to 1022 characters - regardless of how you save (binary or MIF).
FWIW - Klaus Daube lists (see: http://daube.ch/docu/fmaker25.html ):
Until FM 7.2: up to 255 characters including meta-notations (such as <Default ¶ Font> or \t - this counts as 16 resp. 2 characters). See also note Variables below
From FM 8.0: up to 2023 Windows Codepage characters or up to 2022 UTF-8 characters
I'd say that this is not quite correct. You could enter more than 255 prior to FM 7.2 as well, but again the display issue via the GUI kicked in and truncated down to 255. The newer versions only display 1022/1023 but you can enter more than 2510 characters (which in this case is futile anyway).

  • What is the maximum number of characters allowed for an e-mail account password?

By trial and error I found that 11 characters were too many and 9 characters are OK.  I suppose the limit is probably 10 but why does the iPad just tell me that I have too many characters in stead of complaining about my User Account or Password being wrong and causing me to waste a few hours trying to chase down e-mail configuration options?
I hope this posting will save others some pain.

Not all email providers have the same password requirements. Without knowing who your email provider is, your information is of minimal use.

  • What steps do I need to take once Verizon unlocks my sim card for international use on another carrier

Hi, I am traveling to Romania in a few days. I called Verizon Global Support and had them unlocked my sim card for the 4s.
They told me there was some steps I had to take after they unlocked it and I will find these steps on the Apple website.
Well I cant find what they are talking about and my search on the internet is not giving what I want.
I see things about Sprint 4s and that u must connect your phone to Itunes to complete the unlock process is this the same for verizon ?
The Verizon Rep told me I will be able to use a Internation Sim but I had to connect my phone to a computer after replacing the International sim and go threw a whole process of Restoring and resetting my phone threw Itunes. Is there true ?  I dont not have a internation sim with me is there any other way to see if its unlock and how the process is ? Do i need to set my phone to only run on GSM when I get there or will the International sim automatically switch the band ?
I know its alot of question all at once but i just want to get to the point.
Thanks any help will be appericated

This is the only thing I could find but it does not answer my question or even what I was told by the Global Support Rep.
Verizon has confirmed (here and here) they WILL unlock the SIM on the iPhone 4S, allowing for use of local SIM cards while traveling abroad (no word yet on whether this will allow for use on AT&T and T-Mobile.) This is different than the jailbreak unlocking method; SIM unlocking through Verizon is permanent and will not affect your warranty in any way.
    1. Meet the following requirements:
    * Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
    * The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
    * The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
    * The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
    * Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
If you don't meet one or more of the above requirements, call anyway. You may still get lucky.
    2. Insert a foreign SIM into the SIM card slot on the side of your phone (only required to confirm that the unlock is successful.)
    3. Call 1-800-711-8300 (Verizon Global Support) and ask the representative for a SIM unlock. Occassionally a representative may not know exactly what you are referring to; make sure you are not transferred to a different department. You are in the right place. Explain that they should have a walkthrough on how to do this, and that it allows for the use of local, non-Verizon SIM cards while traveling abroad.
    4. Get confirmation from the rep that the unlock has been applied to your account, then check your phone to make sure it recognizes your SIM and can connect (if successful it will roam on AT&T, assuming you are calling from the USA.) You will NOT see an unlock confirmation in iTunes as that is for a factory-applied unlock only.
    5. Enjoy your new unlocked iPhone 4S!

  • What happened to human decency in service at Verizon?

I have been speaking with Verizon Wireless Service since April about a phone that was lost in the mail.  I have talked with numerous agents, most recently (removed).  She was the most helpful, but has simply vaporized as they all seem to do.
I've been told I'd be called back, someone was working on my case, there are no managers who can assist, you need to mail the headquarters, etc.  Each time I have been patient and gone along.  Now I'm furious.  No one has solved the problem or even offered to help.  The old Verizon would have looked at my record as a customer, realized that I was a great family customer now and simply waived the fee.
The new Verizon keeps sending me around to other people who start at the beginning and don't have any decision making authority.  If this is really what Verizon thinks of its customers, then it might be time for a switch.
I sent a letter to the address list on the web site (great customer service for a phone company) and no one responded.  This is how I'd expect a low-cost carrier to treat someone, not a Verizon customer.
I'd like to speak with a human being with decision-making authority.  Please read my case number before calling.  I've repeated it a few dozen time in the last few months.  Better yet, simply eliminate the payment from the bill.
    Have others experienced this behavior?
    Thanks,
    Rick

  • Fraudulent Text Messages and Verizon's Response

I received a text message telling me I had won a $1,000 Best Buy gift card, with instructions on how to claim it.  I suspected it was fraud and called Best Buy.  They confirmed it was a fraudulent text and told me they had received thousands of calls about the message.  I called Verizon Customer Service to inform them about the message and they claimed to be unaware that this message was being circulated to customers.  I was told that this sender could not be blocked from sending messages to Verizon customers, despite knowing the phone number it was coming from, and knowing that the messages are fraudulent scams.  On top of it, I'm paying Verizon for the privilege receivng these scam messages, since I don't have a text plan. I'm very disappointed with Verizon's response and the fact that they aren't taking a more proactive approach to protecting their customers.  I think Verizon's Customer Service and Fraud Departments should want to know about these scams and should at least act like they care about preventing their customers from getting these bogus messages.  They should have an easy way to forward messages like these to their Fraud Department. I also hate the fact that I have to pay Verizon $.20 for each fraudulent text I receive.  Never was offered a credit.  It's a good way to "encourage" customers to pay for a text plan, even if they don't text much.  I'm a long-time customer who has spent a lot of my hard-earned money with Verizon over the years.  I feel like I'm getting nickel-and-dimed to death on top of the overly-complicated plans and inconsistent information I receive from customer service.  Do they really care about the customer, or just about the revenue?

More and more of these type of messages have become a regular because of all the electronic footprints users are leaving all over the web like Facebook, Twitter, file sharing and not to forget the free applications that are usually infested with advertisements..
Security should start at home first because no level of security will stop personal information from being available when users simply give it out to oters on a regular.
I have had a number of clients that would go to a infected site that requested for the user to disable their system Virus Scan or Firewall to access data from the site and the customer would do it and then their system gets infected, is this some how my job to resolve this issue for free?
I really do not see how this is Verizon’s problem to resolve.
