What determines if a program is active during Power Nap?

After updating to 10.8.2, I noticed that my 2011 MBA was logging onto all my chat services for a few minutes every hour via Adium.  I assume this must be because the MBA is waking up into "Power Nap" mode.  I thought that only certain programs were allowed to be active in that mode, and I can't understand why Adium would be one of them.  Since this only seems to have started with 10.8.2, could it be a new bug?

Are you sure your Mac is in sleep mode? Maybe it couldn't get into sleep mode and fans are working hardly because the lid is closed. Try to close all apps and put it in sleep mode, and see if fans turn on.
If so, and as you have a new Mac, return it and you will get a new one for free or you will get the one you have repaired. The new one should have that issue fixed

  • How to see the last updates made during Power Nap?

    Hello guys,
I am using MacBook Pro with Retina Display with Power Nap turned on. I think it's a great feature, but I wouyld like more control — to be able to see the updates it has made while sleeping.
Is there any way to see the last updates made during Power Nap? Maybe some logs etc.

You can see updates installed via Software Update by clicking on the Apple > About this Mac > more info > System Report > scroll down to Software > Installations. That is a comprehensive list - you won't find a separate list of the last hour or whatever (that I know of). There might be a terminal command for that - or not - I don't know of one.
FWIW, I like to know what updates are being installed when, so I do not allow automatic download/installs of anything - I allow automatic checking so I get a notification that an update is available, but then I prefer to choose if/when I will download and install.

In tune show all summary activity during sync between nb and apple device. One of the summary is memory space status. Audio mayb3gb, photo 2gb, app with 3gb. What is other? Other consist of what type of file? It show quite substantial storage capacity?? Anyone can answer what is in other??

"Other" includes data such as contact information and photos assigned to contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cookies/history, notes created with the Notes application, SMS messages, email stored locally or cached, and 3rd party application data created and stored by the application.
If "other" is more than say .75GB at the most, you had a corrupt sync. Try syncing again and if the problem persists, the recognized fix for this is to restore your iPad.

  • What determines how many bytes a 8451 reads during a SPI transaction?

    Hello,
What determines how many bytes a 8451 reads during a SPI transaction? Depending upon the device that you are interfacing with the quantity of bytes that comes back varies.

    Hi Kaspar,
What you described regarding the reading and writing of data from an SPI device looked correct - I posted a similar response on your other thread here.  Also, you are correct that each bit of SPI data will be transferred per clock cycle.  So, if you were to write a byte of data and then read a byte of data, you would expect to have 8 clock cycles per byte.  Hope this helps!

  • Determine if a date is active within a database?

Hey all. I'm trying to figure out a way to determine for 10 days if there was an active service on each day.
The service history data I have to look at is like so:
    CUST     ADDR     ACTN     DATE
    1234     1234     IN       12/23/2007
    1234     1234     READ     2/21/2008
    1234     1234     READ     4/22/2008
    1234     1234     OUT      6/23/2008
    2345     1244     IN       3/6/2008
2345     1244     OUT      3/10/2008And what I want to do is determine if a customer was active from say 3/1/2008 - 3/10/2008. My current method was to query for dates on each day I'm trying to find out if service was active, and then building a string I can later run through a loop, but it seems like I'm making this way too complicated.

Okay, so there's a bit more detail needed to understand what I'm trying to output.
There are also seven additional columns in the database for each day of the week, to indicate which day the customer has items picked up by the company. Ex:
    CUST ...     SU     M      TU     W      TH     F      SA
    1234 ...     X
1223 ...                   XWhat I want to do is pull this information, and then determine if the customer had service during a set time period (ex: 3/1 - 3/10), and then also determine if they had service on the pickup date. The goal is to charge accounts based on if they had an active pickup date during the time period (as some accounts might have been opened on 3/8, but because of the day of the week their pickup is on, they didn't actually have any service during that time and shouldn't be charged).
So in the end I just want the Customer # for the ones that should be charged.

  • What determines when the My Timesheet item will display in the Resource Availability Page?

Can someone point me to where I can get more information on the My Timesheet item that displays in the Details section of the Resource Availability page?  I cannot figure out where this information is coming from or what determines how many My Timesheet
    lines you see.
In one Project Server environment, I noticed that each user had 3-4 My Timesheet line items in the Resource Availability page.  The period I was looking at spanned 8 weeks and all of those weeks were in the future.  I checked the Manage Timesheets
page for one of the users that had 4 My Timesheet items in the Resource Availability page.  The user did not have any timesheets created for the 8-week period I was reporting on in the Resource Availability page.  To make matters more confusing,
some resources only had 3 My Timesheet line items in the Resource Availability page for the same period.  So it seems like something other than active timesheets for the period is dictating how many My Timesheet lines display.  Also curious was the
fact that ALL of the My Timesheet items for all users in the Resource Availability page (7 or 8 people) showed "0h" for all of the periods displayed.
I decided to look into this further in a separate Project Server environment, because I didn't have access to the first one at the time.  Both environments were configured to not use single entry mode and used resource plans to calculate allocation.
In this second environment, I entered hours against an administrative task classified as non-working time for one week and submitted / approved this sheet.  I entered hours against a project task for a second week and submitted / approved this sheet.
I then used the Resource Availability page and "reported" on a period including those periods (20-week period total).  I didn't see a single My Timesheet item.  Not even any showing the "0h" designation I had seen in the first environment.
So long story short, I cannot figure out the criteria that dictates when a My Timesheet item displays.  And I also can't figure out the purpose.  If the Resource Availability page is designed to show planned work (either through the planned allocations
stored in resource plans or planned assignments through project schedules), what is the point of the My Timesheet values?  Wouldn't planned work be captured in the project line items?  If it's for administrative, non-working time only, why would
the My Timesheet items not show up in the second environment scenario?  Any help / insight would be appreciated.

    Hi,
After investing a lot of time i found one link which is talking about My Timesheet in resource availability page.
I believe link providing proper explanation though i would like to test it on my system.

  • How to find Transactions/Programs are Active or Locked

    Hello Friends,
How to find, what are all the Transactions/Programs are Active/Locked in the Production(PRD) Environment.
Is there any table or transactions available to find it out?
    Please assist.
    Regards,
    Shrinivas

    - To be confirmed : look at field CINFO in table TSTC, if it contains hexadecimal values of '80', '01', '02' or '20' it is locked (not sure, check)
    - Use a call 'DY_CHECK_TRANSACTION'  id 'TX' <tcode> if sy-subrc = 3 the transaction is locked.
    - Use a call FM AUTHORITY_CHECK_TCODE, if NOT_OK is raised and the message i348(s#) is sent the transaction is locked
    - First check via   AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'S_TCODE' ID 'TCD' FIELD <tcode> and if the object is allowed but NOT_OK is raised by the FM AUTHORITY_CHECK_TCODE, the transaction is locked.

  • What determines which inputs you can select from when you're creating a VISA Resource Name Constant?

Hey, I'm trying to write a labview driver an instrument. I have another instrument which came with labview drivers, and I had hoped that by looking at how they did it, I could write my own for this piece of equipment.
However, the problem is they use the old visa open method. That is, they input a string, "GPIB::6", and it outputs a visa session.
The new Visa open requires that you have an input resource name, and the constants only let me pick from "COM1" and "LPT1", but the GPIB interface card in this computer is in a PCMCIA slot.
What determines what choices you get when you select the value of the constant?
    Thanks,
    -Dobbs

If you created a VISA Resource Name control, right click on the control and select "Allow Undefined Names".
I haven't programmed directly using VISA on LabVIEW 6 but it apppears that if you select from the drop-down menu, it shows the devices that is defined in MAX. Thus, you should be able to select your GPIB resource name if it has been properly installed.
Nevertheless, it still allows you to override the control by selecting "Allow Undefined Names".
    I hope that helps.

  • Area Text: What determines baseline position?

When creating an Area Textbox object (using the text tool, click drag a box, type inside it), what determines the distance from the top of the box to the text baseline?  I notice with lower case letters that they don't always touch the top of the area box.
    ...Matt

...do TTF fonts have a setting in them that dictates the em box size compared to the text size...
    No.
..., or is it some calculation of TTF font properties?...
    No.
Illustrator is showing me the em box is 87.5pt when my text is 100pt.
No it isn't. If you've set the type size to 100 points, then you are telling Illustrator that the em square measures 100 points.
    ...Does the TTF dictate 87.5...
    No.
    ...or is it somehow calculated?
Assuming you again have the First Baseline option for the Area Type set to Em Box Height, as you did in post 9, and if the value you are reading (87.5) is the distance you are measuring from the top of the text frame to the first baseline, then it is not the measure of the em square, it is the proportion of the designed location of the baseline as measured from the top of the em square, when scaled to the type size you have chosen (100 points), expressed in the unit of measure you are using in your document (points).
    Who (or what) chooses 87.5?
You asked this same question in post 9 and it was directly answered in post 10: The designer does.
Said another way: You indirectly specified the actual measure of 87.5 points by setting the type size to the actual measure of 100 points, because that's what the distance between the top of the em square and the baseline scales to when you scale the em square to 100 points. But the value, 87.5, is nowhere in the font itself, just as the value of 100 points is not in the font itself.
In normal use, you don't know what the value of the em square stored in the font is, and you don't need to. In other words, you don't know how many em units the em square is divided into by the designer for the designer's purpose. In TrueType it is often 2048, because that's a nice round binary value. But it doesn't have to be. You can set Trajan to 100 points all day long; you still don't know if its em square is 1000, 1200, 1500, 2048, or anything else. You've just told your computer to treat that em square--whatever it may be--as if it actually measured 100 points.
As for font file format, you can launch Fontographer or FontLab and design a font on an em square of 1024 units if you want, and then export it in a PostScript Type 1 formated file, or in a TrueType formatted file, or in an OpenType formatted file.
A significant difference in TrueType is that it doesn't use cubic (degree 3) Bezier curves like Illustrator does and PostScript does, and OpenType can (OpenType can contain either kind); it uses quadratic (degree 2) Bezier curves, which are far more cumbersome and tedious to draw with, because they require more anchorPoints to achieve the same shape. (Ever tried doing any serious vector-based drawing in the drawing module of a common "works" or "office" software suite?) For that reason,  TrueType fonts are quite commonly drawn using PostScript Type 1 Bezier curves and then auto-converted to quadratic curves. One can open an existing PostScript Type 1 font in Fontographer or FontLab and export it to TrueType without knowingly changing any of the curves; but they will all be changed. Each segment will have one handle, not two.
Something needs to be said regarding the often trotted-out analogy to pre-digital (actually even pre-photomechanical) cast metal type: It is often overstated and therefore misleading when trying to understand the virtual, not material, measure system of digital type design.
Yes, many of the terms are throwbacks to metal cast type. But the physical limitations those terms imply do not apply. Many who like to expound on the terms don't seem to understand this, and lead those whom they are advising astray. (Occurrances of this in this very thread.)
Descenders and ascenders are not  limited to their corresponding lines in a digital font. Neither is x-height. Capheight (of the actual glyphs) is not even limited to within the bounds of the em square. In fact, even a glyph's sidebearings can be set to zero, because there is no metal to actually bear.
The same can be said of the user-defined actual measures. There is nothing preventing you from setting the leading (line spacing) to a measure that is less than the font's em square (type size). Hot metal leading was bars added between the slugs of lines of type. In digital type, it is the distance between corresponding positions in adjacent lines (i.e.; baseline to baseline).
So bringing up how the terms are borrowed from hot metal type is often more misleading than informative. It's better to simply think of all these "lines" associated with digital type design as analagous to the ruler guides you would use in Illustrator or any other drawing program. You set them up as convenient references and snap-to objects; but you are not actually constrained by them as you draw paths.
Look at most any normal typeface and you'll see that rounded glyphs extend beyond the baseline, x-height, and cap height; that the height of all caps is not the same, nor are descenders and ascenders. To see downright wild "boundary violations" (if that's what they really were), look at any highly decorative italic or script with elaborate swashes (Bickham, for just one example).

  • Determine if SAP program is running foreground

What determines whether or not 3D is supported on a given platform?

I just found the resolution to my problem in Jira, at: http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-14415
    Specifically, this comment:
The minimum driver version for Intel HD was recently changed to 8.15.10.2302 to workaround bugs in older drivers.
If you run JavaFX as follows, it will show you your driver version number, and also print the minimum version number.
    1. Set the environment variable NWT_TRACE_LEVEL=4
    2. Run any JavaFX program with: java -Dprism.verbose=true ...

  • N8 - touch-screen still active during phone calls,...

I've made a few calls with my N8, and I'm finding that the touch-screen is still active when I hold the phone to my ear. I've accidentally hung up on people, or have inadvertently activated other apps. Is this something I can fix in tools?
The sound during calls is also very low (even at maximum volume), which compounds the above problem even more, as I push the phone closer to my ear.
If nothing else, the N8 should be able to function perfectly as a phone, and this is really frustrating - I never had this problem with other phones.
Also, on the 2nd use of the photo edit program, it took a long time to save the photo, and then the phone froze. Is anyone else having problems with this?

I too fact these problems i.e touch-screen still active during phone calls leading to unintended "hold" on the calls or screens navigating else where. Yes, the side lock bar helps, but then it is not very handy way for a costly model to be designed. Even the older cheaper nokia touch screen model did not have this problem. Let NOKIA people respond to it.
Yes, the sound is too low even at the maximum. Nokia support centre plead helpless.
I think we all made a big mistake in investing in this costly handset.

  • What determines whether the Label name and/or Caption appears in the context help window but in other cases, both the label and caption appear in the context help window?

I am trying to polish an application, and find that I cannot seem to reliably control which of the label or caption text appears in the context help window because I don't understand what rules are in place to determine which should appear. It seems like if I reate a named constant, then use it's right click menu command "Create Indicator" I get a control with only a Label (as long as I don't add a caption). This then appears in the context help window as the label name followed by the description text (after entering some description text). But if I add a caption, the label name is shown in bracket
s which is a 'feature' I would like to avoid, because I have certain controls where I would like to use a descriptive variable name on the block diagram side without using so much space on the front panel. It seems like there is no way to avoid showing the Label name in the context help for a control/indicator. Is this true?
I thought the purpose of having a seperate caption was to make the text that appears with a control programmatically controllable, but if that control is not extended to what appears in the context help window, it limits the usefulness of the caption and forces me to re-consider some Label names. However, the problem goes deeper than that because then even when I make the label and caption exactly the same, or if I delete (via a select caption text-backspace or select caption text- delete key .. sequence) the caption for a control, the label name in the context help window still appears in square brackets!
Can I have complete control over the context help fo
r a particular control (or has anyone found a third-party context help solution that functions compatibly with LabVIEW 7 in a built application that they will be so kind as to recommend?)
I have used LabVIEW for three years, and I am now using LabVIEW 7.0.

Sorry for that.. I was changing the text of my question and didn't read carefully enough in the preview stage. I wanted it to read "What determines whether the Label name and/or Caption appears in the context help window?"
