What do I do if I had iPad password protected so no downloads could be done without my permission but now all of a sudden it is not asking for a password?

So that my little grandson couldn't download games without my knowledge it always asked for my password. All of a sudden this morning he downloaded four games before I even knew it. How do I fix this?

If you close Firefox, then start Firefox in Safe Mode, does the problem still occur? For instructions on starting in Safe Mode, see [[Safe Mode]]. Extensions can sometimes be the cause of problems. TS4036 I have am trying to back up my Ipad from iCloud , my account name is ******** but when I get to restore the backup it asks for the password for********** has anyone had a similar problem?

Could the purchase have been made using a different Apple account? If so, you may need to contact Apple to find out how to transfer it to the iPad's account.

I have an airport extreme space station which works fine, but does not ask for the password so anyone can get on my network. I don't know what to do to fix this.

Is it possible to backtrack your way out of the keychain?
Yes:
Run the Keychain Access utility found in \Applications\Utilities
In the category column (on the left side of the utilities' window), select "All Items."
In the right column look for your Network Name. It will have a "Kind" of "AirPort network password."
Delete every entry that has both your Network Name with this Kind.
What can I do to test or reset?
You can completely erase all the base station's passwords by performing either a "hard" or "factory default" reset. You can also temporarily disable these passwords for up to five minutes so that you will have enough time to change them using the AirPort Utility, by just performing a "soft" reset. I would recommend this one first.
This would also be a good time to consider using WPA or WPA2, instead of WEP, as WEP is no longer considered secure.
I got the airport extreme based used with no softward and set up with reset on airport base and followed instructions.

If you are seeing an Apple ID that is not yours, then you have purchased content on your iPad that is tied to that Apple ID. You would need to know that password or remove the content that is associated with that Apple ID.

You do not have to enter an Apple ID in order to set up an iPad. You can do that after the device has been activated. Can you back out of the setting and remove the Apple ID then move forward and deal with it after the iPad is activated?

After downloading Firefox, the ADMINISTRATOR box comes up - and although I am the registered Administrator it is asking for a password I have never entered. What do I do to 'run' Firefox?

I had Firefox 8 set as my preferred web search. I think I pressed something on the toolbar because most of it disappeared and I couldn't get it back - even after rebooting. So I deleted Firefox and re-loaded it. Although it downloads, now it wont 'run' as a box comes up stating 'current user' 'administrator'. I bought my laptop brand new, and am the administrator - it says so on my login details . . . but I have never entered a password for this, and the password for 'Administrator' does not match any that I use. Why, all of a sudden am I getting asked to answer security questions I never set up in the first place. I have never given credit card info, didn't need to because I have some iTunes Gifts to redeem. This is very frustrating!

What are 'keychains'??? All of a sudden my computer is asking for passwords to keychains and it is blocking me from my shared iCloud accounts.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
