What happened to corporate branding?

I understand things move on and we all need to be flexible and change with the times, but I was wondering what happened to corporate branding when sending large files in SEND.  Seems to be completely gone!
Also it doesn't seem to remember the email addresses you type in as did YOUSEND.
Cheers,
Pat Doyle

Hi Johnathan,
I used the website to send files, which apparently just disappeared without trace and were undelivered.  Primarily I subscribed to YouSend to be able to send out large files that would be unable to be handled by email because of their size.  I would send directly through Acrobat Reader but many clients have ridiculously low size quotas in place on their email servers.  I've even tried educating clients to use the Share service on Acrobat.com where they could review the documents on-line or download and print out.  Sadly they don't seem to get it, they're either obstinate or thick (probably the former as they run multi million pound companies).
I work as a commercial designer producing catalogues and marketing material, hence the files can become significant in size.  The reason the branding is an issue for me and I would imagine other professionals is that when the links come through on clients email systems they recognise them as being genuine and from a known source.  This may well be the reason the files mentioned earlier disappeared without trace.  They could well have been treated by the clients email systems as junk and removed.  Hence my assertion for its re-instatement.  No good me even asked them if his was the case as I'd just get the blank glazed over stare from them.
I know the majority of your customers probably don't use this and many of the other features that were removed from YouSend.  Since the launch of the Creative Cloud I am aware that Adobe has had an enormous increase in its user base and that majority will be consumers.  However Adobe should remember that whilst the rest of the world is moving to what everyone deems the post PC world, as designers we still need full featured, robust tools to create all the content for the post PC world of tablets, smartphones and devices.
I personally work in the Windows world on workstations by nature of the client base.  I'm responsible for dragging a countrywide electrical distributor here in the UK into the twenty first century and getting the use of tablets and devices adopted by the workforce and management alike in the workplace.  The reason for my irritation over the premature roll-out of the SEND service is not because I think it ill conceived, I don't there are many promising features in there.  It's just that these companies have place their trust in me to make this transition to the digital age and I have in turn placed my trust in Adobe and its services to help me make that happen.
When things go wrong, it makes that job much harder.  I don't want to have to defend my professionalism or choice of Adobe and its services being brought into question as this undermines confidence in what is proving to be a mountainous hill to climb.  People want change, until they get change.  Then they pick on the flimsiest of reasons or failures to support their argument not to have change.
Go ask Microsoft's Windows Team if I'm not right!
Sorry its a bit of a long reply, I just wanted to get across to Adobe that whilst everyone wants easy to use Apps for their devices.  As designers we need robust, reliable tools not Apps.  We'll all still be here on our workhorses be they Apple or Windows workstations building their wonderful post PC world.
Anyway good luck with SEND and I'll certainly give it another go when you have ironed out the issues.  Please feel free to send me information when you think it fully ready for mainstream use.

Pat Doyle

  • UCCX 7.0.1SR5 to 8.0 upgrade while also adding LDAP integration for CUCM - what happens to agents and Historical Reporting data?

    Current State:
    •    I have a customer running CUCM 6.1 and UCCX 7.01SR5.  Currently their CUCM is *NOT* LDAP integrated and using local accounts only.  UCCX is AXL integrated to CUCM as usual and is pulling users from CUCM and using CUCM for login validation for CAD.
    •    The local user accounts in CUCM currently match the naming format in active directory (John Smith in CUCM is jsmith and John Smith is jsmith in AD)
    Goal:
    •    Upgrade software versions and migrate to new hardware for UCCX
    •    LDAP integrate the CUCM users
Desired Future State and Proposed Upgrade Method
Using the UCCX Pre Upgrade Tool (PUT), backup the current UCCX 7.01 server.
Then during a weekend maintenance window……
    •    Upgrade the CUCM cluster from 6.1 to 8.0 in 2 step process
    •    Integrate the CUCM cluster to corporate active directory (LDAP) - sync the same users that were present before, associate with physical phones, select the same ACD/UCCX line under the users settings as before
    •    Then build UCCX 8.0 server on new hardware and stop at the initial setup stage
    •    Restore the data from the UCCX PUT tool
    •    Continue setup per documentation
At this point does UCCX see these agents as the same as they were before?
Is the historical reporting data the same with regards to agent John Smith (local CUCM user) from last week and agent John Smith (LDAP imported CUCM user) from this week ?
I have the feeling that UCCX will see the agents as different almost as if there is a unique identifier that's used in addition to the simple user name.
We can simplify this question along these lines
Starting at the beginning with CUCM 6.1 (local users) and UCCX 7.01.  Let's say the customer decided to LDAP integrate the CUCM users and not upgrade any software.
If I follow the same steps with re-associating the users to devices and selecting the ACD/UCCX extension, what happens?
I would guess that UCCX would see all the users it knew about get deleted (making them inactive agents) and the see a whole group of new agents get created.
What would historical reporting show in this case?  A set of old agents and a set of new agents treated differently?
Has anyone run into this before?
Is my goal possible while keeping the agent configuration and HR data as it was before?

I was doing some more research looking at the DB schema for UCCX 8.
Looking at the Resource table in UCCX, it looks like there is primary key that represents each user.
My question, is this key replicated from CUCM or created locally when the user is imported into UCCX?
How does UCCX determine if user account jsmith in CUCM, when it’s a local account, is different than user account jsmith in CUCM that is LDAP imported?
Would it be possible (with TAC's help most likely) to edit this field back to the previous values so that AQM and historical reporting would think the user accounts are the same?
    Database table name: Resource
The Unified CCX system creates a new record in the Resource table when the Unified CCX system retrieves agent information from the Unified CM.
A Resource record contains information about the resource (agent). One such record exists for each active and inactive resource. When a resource is deleted, the old record is flagged as inactive; when a resource is updated, a new record is created and the old one is flagged as inactive.

  • What happened to the sound effects in Garageband after in app purchase of $4.99 expansion pack?

I purchased a brand new MacBook Pro OS Mavericks and promptly began using Garageband 10.0.2.  There were many sound effects provided in the program (thunder, galloping horses, etc.), and I decided to complete the in app purchase.  Once I completed the download and install, I realized that I no longer had those sound effects.  Does any one know what happened to them?

Galloping Horses and thunder are not part of the GarageBand sound effects. You have probably other loop packages installed, for example the Final Cut Pro Sound Effects or the iLife Sound Effects.
Check, how your Loop Browser is set. The pop-up menu at the top of the Loop Browser should be set to "Loops" to have all loops available. Set the "Scale" to any, clear the search field. In the GarageBand Preferences, "Loops" pane disable "Keyword Browsing", filter for more relevant results.
Now you should be able to see all installed loops. If not, use the command "Reindex all Loops" from the "Loops" pop-up menu.

  • ISE - What happens when the on-boarded certificate expires?

I'm trying to design a good BYOD deployment model but have a few questions that need direct answers.  I have down how to go about on-boarding and getting a certificate on a device, the ISE provides great flow for this to happen in many ways.  My questions come from a design perspective before and after the BYOD deployment is completed.
    1. Figuring out a method to validate the device is a Corporate asset or a BYOD asset.
(I don't want to install a certificate on just any device, or perhaps I do but I need to give permissions to all resources if its a Corporate Device, and more resitrictions if it's BYOD, so how do I figure this out during the provisioning phase?)
         a. Use MDM (May not have one, or if you do we are still waiting on ISE 1.2 for that integration)
         b. Build a Group for provisioning admins, if user PEAP-MSCHAPv2 account is from this group install a certificate. (issue here is that the end user looses administration of the device in the my device portal as the device is now registered to the provisioning admin)
         c. Pre-populate MAC into ISE as all Corporate devices should be provisioned by I.T. before they go to the end user (I think this is good but can see push back from customers as they don't want to add more time to the process)
         d. Certs on any IOS or Android device, provide access based on user group and do not worry if device is Company asset or not (I believe that this is the easiest solution and seems to be what I find in the guides)
         e. Other options I have not thought about, would love input from the crowd
    2. What happens to the device once the Certificate expires?
(I don't know the answer to this, my thought would be the user or device will fail during the authentication policy and this creates a mess)
         a. Tell the user to delete the profile so they can start all over again (creates help desk calls and frustrated users)
         b. Use MDM for Cert management (may not have one)
         c. Perhaps the client uses SCEP to renew based on the cert template renew policy and there are no issues (this is me wishing)
Would appreciate some feed back and would like to know if anyone has run into these issues.

    Neno,
Sorry but I don't have any other info on using a public CA, Cisco says to use internal CA's for PKI.  I think the best practice in 1.2 comes out will be to use one interface for Web Management and a different interface for Radius, profiling, posture, and on boarding.  This way you can use your private CA for EAP and a public CA for web traffic.  Have you tried a public CA bound to management and a private CA for EAP yet?
I did do a session on EAP-TEAP, they explained how it will work and also discussed EAP-FASTv2.  EAP-FASTv2 is available now but you must use anyconnect as your supplicant.  Microsoft and all other vendors will have EAP-TEAP native once it is fully released and comissioned as it will be the new gold standard for EAP.  It will support TLS, MD5, and CHAPv2.  If you are interested I have the PDF of the presentation I attended that shows the flow of how EAP-TEAP will work.  This is much better than wasMachineAuthenticated and machine auth caching, which has many down falls.
I currently do machine and user auth I just don't require them.  If Machine auth then allow machine on vlan-x with access to AD, DNS, and blah blah.  Then a seperate rule to say user auth gets more access, although I require EAP-TLS for both and if you think about it you are accomplishing the same thing if your PKI is setup correctly.  Make it so users and machines can only auto enroll, that way you know the only way they got their cert was from GPO policy.  I won't go into anymore detail, but there is lots you can do.

  • Tech Comm Suite 3.5 trial updated my licensed Acrobat 9.5 to X, what happens 9.5 when trial is over?

After installing Technical Communications Suite 3.5 trial version, it updated my Acrobat Pro 9.5 to version X. What happens to my licensed version 9.5 when trial expires? How do I get it back?

While that is a good answer to my question; it is not a good solution to my situation since it is a corporate license that has to be reinstalled by our IT department. That is a very cumbersome process and puts me, as an end-user testing this new product, in a poor situation and effectively shuts down my production for an unspecified time frame when the trial expires.

  • What Happens IF...[Time Machine ?s]

I have acquired a new Mac [Migration from the old worked seamlessly]. The old TM external drive is sitting beside it, not plugged in. The new TM external drive is beside the old, also not yet plugged in.
Can I use both TMs? The new one from "now, forward" and the old one IF I NEED IT to find something that didn't migrate or I forgot or any of those other reasons TM is wonderful.
WHAT HAPPENS if I first run a brand new full TM on the new external then eject that drive and plug in the old external drive? What will the new Mac tell me when it sees the old TM?
WHAT HAPPENS if I first plug in the old TM, browse, see if I can restore something, eject and then try to plug in the new TM and make a new complete backup?
    Which should I do first?

Actually, I found (when I actually tried this) that you can have two external drives configured as TMs. When both are plugged in, and the appropriate election made in Prefs, the TM app will back up to the left one, next back up is to the right one, the third alternates back to the left one, and the fourth alternates back to the right one. (Frankly, I concluded it was a bit of overkill.)
But, also, you can also unplug the drives, plug in the other drive, start TM, and it asks if you wish to Replace the prior...and you can. Meaning, you can dismount the new drive, plug in the older, open TM, Replace, look back on an older TM drive, find and recover something, close TM, dismount the older drive and mount the newer, open TM, Replace, and have the new drive making current backups.
In other words, keep the old TM drive around; it is still valuable.
    Cheers

  • What happens after: "Erase data after ten failed passcode attempts"  ?

What happens after data is erased from the iPhone after ten passcode attempts?
Is it the same thing as Settings->General->Erase all content and settings ?
Does the iPhone essentially becomes a permanent brick, or does the iPhone appear as a fresh device that just awaits reactivating?
    Thanks~!

All the user data on your phone is encrypted. When 10 failed attempt occur, the phone just securely erases the encryption key (overwrites it multiple times), then reboots. Without the encryption key present, even though all the data is still there, it cannot be decrypted and read anymore. Its just a load of random bits, and useless. The phone will just go through it's 'factory default' setup and quick format the flash ready to be used again as if it was a completely blank brand-new phone. At no point during any of this process is the system partition (the area that stores ios4) touched, so there is no danger of the phone being "bricked".
And even if the system partition was erased, you could still restore the phone using DFU mode. It's quite difficult to permanently brick an iPhone, you can recover from most problems.

  • TS1424 when I search for an artist like Paul weller for example I get an error. then i tunes closes. whats happening?

hi, when i search for an artist like for example Paul weller, I get an error and then i tunes closes.  whats happening??

Sorry, but it doesn't help JTANNA.
What is your definition of "more efficiently"? If it's limitation of search results, branded search, and limitation of styling your results then google search is more efficient. Real developers rely on their own developments. For example: how can google search display results from a password-protected site? They can't.

  • What happens if AppleID verification email is not responded to?

What happens if AppleID verification email is not responded to? I have to setup 100  iphones for user who do not use email. I have email addresses for them, but don't want to have to config email for them and teach them to use it just to answer one email. IT will not let me sign in as them and respond to the email, so each user has to have IT config email on a computer and then they can respond. This is a huge productivity hit for us.

    Hello mum_of_four,
I’m all for getting the best possible price for anything I’m buying, so I’m sure it was disappointing to find yourself locked out of your own BestBuy.com account.  I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
While rare, there are times where the verification email doesn’t arrive as anticipated (i.e.: arrived in junk/spam folder, another email address attached to the account); however, I’d hate for you to miss out on a great sale price, so I pulled up your account using the email address on your forum profile. It appears your concerns reached Lillibeth with our customer care team, and she was able help modify your account and sent you a password reset link to help. Have you successfully been able to log into your account since then?
I hope to hear from you soon,

  • I have an excess balance on my verizon pay as you go plan. If I cancel my plan, what happens to my remaining balance?

I was looking at switching to a 2yr contract with Verizon instead of my pay as you go. I went into the local corporate store and was told that my balance would not carry over if I switched because my number was ported from a different company and their computer program specifically stated that my balance would not transfer due to this. Since this is the case, If I cancel my pay as you go and switch to a contract, what happens to my money? There is over $100 that is an excess balance on my account and I don't want to lose that. Will I get a check returned to me since it wont transfer?

        lookmanohands,
We are glad to hear that you are thinking of switching to our contract pricing. If you were to switch from our Pre-Pay and still have a balance the balance would not be able to be transferred. We are unable to refund the balance. We encourage you to use the balance up before you transfer.

  • What happened to Apple's DVD Media?

I zipped into the Apple Store tonight to pick up some blank DVD media & found they no longer carry it. I don't see it in the online store either.
Wow, what happened? (They did sell me a pack of Verbatim)
    ?

Appple do not make DVD or CD discs, it is a brand not a make.
These discs were made by many manufacturers over the years so buyers were not getting the same make from purchase to purchase.
have a look here for manufacturer comparisons.

Assuming you're using iPhoto 9.5 try the following: as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • What happens when you buy from a third party vender

I am wondering what happens when you buy a macbook form a third party vender. In my case it is amazon.com. I am reading about people returning their macbook's to apple for a refund due to the high pitched whine everyone is talking about. My understanding is that we can still send them to apple to get fixed for the noise, but even if they can't fix it we still can't get a refund right? If I try to return it to Amazon as a defective product who decides if it is? Apple or Amazon?
    Kalel

Amazon's return policy on computers doesn't exclude any brands, so I'd say that you could return it. Here's a link to it if you'd like to read it:

  • What happens on iCloud (ex. contacts) when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?

What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?  For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together?  We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
    1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
    2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
    3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
    4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
    5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
    6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.

  • What happens to the open item in bsid table when it is cleared

    hi experts,
i have a doubt about open and cleared items of accounting documents. as we know open items of customers are stored in bsid and cleared ones in bsad. For suupose, an open item is closed ina particular period then what happened to the entry in bsid and bsad table. an entry regarding is stored in bsad (cleared),and what happens to the entry in bsid, still it will be there or removed from it.

    Hi,
When ever we clear the document(Complete payment) that document will be moved to BSAD table. Other wise it will remain in BSID.
If u are making partial payment then all the partial payment documents along with original document will be stored in BSID till u made the complete payment for that invoice.
Assumption is u have to give all partial payment documents made for particular invoice item while u are making complete payment in F-28 transaction. So that these partail payment documents will also be cleared while making complete payment and moved to BSAD table.
This trasaction can be used for both partial and complete payments.
Irrespective of complete or partial payments made all the documents will remain stored in BKPF and BSEG tables.
BSID and BSAD are index tables to address performance issues with BKPF and BSEG tables.
So all open and cleared documents will be there in BKPF and BSEG tables.
All cleared documents will be there in BSAD table.
Alll open documents will be there in BSID table.
    Hope it is clear.
    Thanks,
    Vinod.
