What is an efficient method to create presets?

Hello all,
I am trying to create presets for my VI and I would like some input from others who've created methods for presets.  I saw this post and saw that it was possible to create a pre defined preset fairly easily.  That's good an all, but I need to update my presets on the fly.  Basically, I want to move four servos to a certain position via pulsewidth.  However, there will be many different positions (~20) I need them to be at, and trying to stop the code and put in constants seems like it will be extremely time consuming for each preset.  I would like to create a preset method which would take the servo location and store it somewhere so I can load it again later.
One idea I had was to create a txt file and store the pulsewidth of each servo.  This way I could overwrite the file and read the file at any time.
I have been looking into event structures, but that seems like it will go with the idea of making pre made presets.
Any help would be gladly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
Solved!
Go to Solution.

If you merely have 20 positions, which will never change, you can use an Enum control wired to a case structure (all of this in a while loop).  If the Enum control value changes, select the case structure which contains the correct pulswidth values.
If your positions could change overtime, an external file would be a good way to go.  Look at Configuration Files.  You can write one section for each position.  In each section, you will store the 4 pulsewidth values you need.

  • What is the best method for creating a simple DVD from X?

Now that I no longer have DVD SP on my system, I need to know the preferred method of creating a simple menu driven DVD. The DVD needs to have a simple (one click) since the local cable company needs that so it will trigger at a specified time. I shoot in 720p 60. The DVD is SD. I do have Toast, Compressor, and iDVD on the computer. Any input will really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Luis.
Can't beleive I missed that. I am so used to using Compressor or Toast. This method works great. Thanks.

  • What's a good method to create a primarykey ( not using autoincrement )

    Hi all,
I 'd like to know if somebody knows a good and simple method to generate a unique primarykey.
I don't want to use the autoincrement feature of DBMS and avoid using GUID ( it's a too long value).
    Any suggestion ?
    Cheers.

I'm wondering why someone would want to implement auto increment on their table? As I understand this, the way it is implemented in other databases is not standard, so your code wouldn't be portable.Agreed! I've always said that a database is only good for 3 things:
    1. Storing data
    2. Relating data
    3. Searching data
I'm working on a project now where I'm trying to get the value of the auto increment field after the update occurs. I want the value of the field to be returned to me so that I can select the record back from the database to display this information on a confirmation page. This is turning out to be a nightmare to get this to work properly using the Statement.getGeneratedKeys(). I am sure this is so difficult because of my relative inexperience with JDBC.No, it's just the wrong approach. You should (in my opinoin) generate the key before you insert.
I am curious about this GUID thing your all talking about. It's simply a unique identifier. It's guaranteed that every GUID generated will be unique.
I did a google search on this and am faced with a wall of results that have little to do with what I imagine this is. Is GUID some sort of auto generated (app side) number that can be inserted into the database that is unique? If so, it sounds like just the solution I would be looking for to completely forget about generating these unique numbers database side. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Globally_Unique_Identifier
And yes, the GUID is by far the best solution we have at the moment.

  • What is the proper method for creating a document with double spacing?

There was a questioned posed regarding double spacing documents and it was suggested to set the leading to twice that of the font size.  Is this how "double spacing" is defined?

Double-spacing is a concept traditionally used in word processing. In professional page layout, as you would use it in InDesign, the space between lines is called "leading" and refers to finer increments than word processing (Word's Single, 1.5 lines, Double, etc.) It is measured in units called "points." There are 12 points in an inch.
In most professionally laid out publications, body copy of average column width is set with 1 to 4 points of space beyond the point size of the type. If the type size were 11 point, the leading might be set as between 12 and 15 points, depending on how much space you desired between lines.
Why don't you tell us what is you're trying to accomplish, and perhaps attach a screen capture of what you're trying to do?

  • What is an efficient method for increasing speed without deleting photos?

    I have a late 2009 model, 27-inch iMac G-5
    Model Name:                        iMac
      Model Identifier:                iMac10,1
Processor Name:               Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:              3.06 GHz
      Number of Processors:    1
      Total Number of Cores:   2
      L2 Cache:                            3 MB
      Memory:                              4 GB
      Bus Speed:                          1.07 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:            IM101.00CC.B00
      SMC Version (system):     1.53f13
      Serial Number (system):   QP******5PE
      Hardware UUID:      ****
It has become frustratingly slow of late.
Full Disclosure:  I have 18,660 photos and 81 videos in my iPhoto app.  I understand that deleting some of those would improve speed but these photos represent a good portion of my long life and having turned 75 on the last day of March, 2014, I doubt that I have enough years left to even begin such a task.
I would likely spend days and days agonizing over two nearly identical photos trying to decide which one to discard, then as soon as I made that crucial decision, would probably rethink my choice and pull the rejected photo out of the trash …
    So my question is:
Other than deleting photos (a task I will continue to eschew forever, thank you very much), what are the options available to increase the speed without a substantial commitment of funds from my meager life savings?
My frustration is such that soon, I will be forced to make an appointment with the Genius Bar at a local Mac Store but the nearest one to my home is some 30 miles away and I’d like to avoid the hassle, if possible.
I understand that there is software available online the purports to safely increase the speed of a Mac but not being a techie and of a naturally suspicious bent, I hesitate to download apps unless I’m absolutely assured of their safety.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

  • Suggested method for creating flash video?

I've searched through the forums and see that Apple seems to want to make things difficult for creating flash video for some reason. Regardless of why, does anyone have a suggestion for a simple solution to take a QuickTime movie file and convert/export it to flash video? I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just the ability to end up with a flash file of my video. Thanks.

Thanks, but I'm really trying to find something for use on my Mac. Or perhaps I'm trying to do something that isn't even necessary... What's the recommended method for creating good-quality video from my Mac to be used on the web? Flash stuff seems to have a great quality for smaller file sizes. Is there a comparable format I could use on my Mac to get similar results which most web users could open without installing some additional software to read it?

What is the best method to create a spinnable flower windmill for iPad and Android?  I want to be able to drag and spin.  The faster you drag, the faster it should spin.  Each petal will have an image which will be its own link.  Any links to tutorials, toolkits, and recent examples are greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Here's a whell that spins, but it has a spin button instead of being able to drag it:

  • What is the efficient way of insert some bytes into a file?

    Hello, everyone:
If I want to insert some bytes into a file (for example, insert the bytes before all the original content of the file, or append the bytes to a file), and the size of the original file is very big. I am wondering what is the efficient way? Where can I get some sample codes?

    Thanks, DrClap.
I have tried your method and you are correct. I have written a simple program which can be used to insert "Hello World " to the start of a file ("c:\\temp\\input.txt"), and I have verified that it can work. Please help to see whether it is correct and whether it has a more efficient way.

  • What color space are the Color Lookup presets meant for?

I've noticed that if I convert the same image to multiple color spaces and apply a 3D LUT with the new Color Lookup adjustment, the result is noticeably different.  From experimenting, it seems that the lookup tables operate on whatever RGB value is given to them no matter what color space.  Is there a certain color space these were optimized for?  For instance, would a certain color space give me a more authentic 2-strip look than another because of the space they were sampled in?  And if I create my own 3D LUTs, would I have to create a separate one for each color space in order to get a consistent look in all spaces?

So do you know what color space was used to create the presets that are there, such as 2-strip and 3-strip?  Even though they don't know about color spaces, the different gammas on the input cause the look to come out different in all colorspaces, so it stands to reason that whatever color space the calculations and/or sampling was done in is closest to what was intended while the others are rough approximations.  For things like "warming" it doesn't matter, but for ones that simulate actual films I'm curious to know, especially since the 2-strip ones looks a little different than when you just copy the green channel into the blue and green channels as described on all the websites.

  • Efficient method to insert large number of data into table

    Hi,
I have a procedure that accepts an input parameter, that contains, a comma seperated values as input.
Something like G12-UHG,THA-90HJ,NS-98039,........There can be more than 90,000 values in that comma seperated input paramter.
What is the most efficient way to do an insert in this case?.
3 methods I have in mind are :
    1) Get individual tokens from CSV and use a plain old loop and do an insert.
    2) Use BULK COLLECT & FOR ALL. However I don't know how to do this, since input is not from cursor, rather a parameter.
    3) Use Table collections. Again this involves plain old looping through the collection. Same as 1st method.
Please do suggest the most efficient method.
    Thanks

90,000 values?? Whats the data type of the input parameter?
you can use the string to row conversion trick if you want and do a single insert

    Hello:
You pretty much have it right. Here's what I do to move applications between APEX installations.
    1) Export/Import Workspaces
    2) Export/Import Applications for each workspace. (I retain the source application id in the target)
    3) Export/Import Workspace Images/Files etc
    4) Use Oracle exp/imp , Oracle DataPump or plain old sqlplus scripts to move database objects from source to target.

  • IFRAME into iMOVIE - most efficient method for importing?

What would be the most efficient method for importing iFrame movies from a camera into iMovie?
iFrame i suppose to save time and work more efficiently in lue of quality but I don't seem to find I way to import the movies faster than in other formats.
On a second note, inporting in iMovie from DV (tape) cameras dramaticly reduced the image quality. Do we still have the same issue when importing an iFrame movie?
    Thank you for your help!

Im completly new myself to importing IFRAME into Imovie 11 as i only got my new Panasonic X920 Camcorder 2 days ago.Can you please tell me is there a big drop in quality from 1080 60p to IFRAME Quality.

  • What is Cycle or steps to create Stock transfer between plants.

What is Cycle or steps to create Stock transfer between plants.
Reply with T Codes & Justify

    Hello RM
We can transfer stocks within a company code between 2 plants using 3 methods:
    1) Using single step simple stock transfer (Mvt Type 301).
    2) Using two step stock transfer (Mvt Types 303 and then 305).
    3) Using a stock transport order(STO) again it is based on 2 things:
    a) r u using STO with delivery or
    b) without delivery.
Though the first two steps are very simple to process but using STO has its own advantages: 1) Quantity in transit can be monitored 2) delivery costs can be entered in the STO.
First 2 steps (single step and 2 step plant to plant transfer) can be done using MIGO tcode , selecting stock transfer and entering the relevant mvt types.
would like to tell you about STO as it is an important process.
STO without delivery, the following functions are provided to support the Internal Stock Transfer without Delivery :
    #Create Stock Transport Order
#Post goods issue for stock transport order
#Post goods receipt for stock transport order
Config Step required before processing above steps:
Setting Up Stock Transport Order: Purchasing Document Type, the purpose of this activity is to specify which document type is to be used for a certain combination of supplying (issuing) plant and receiving plant.
Path go to SPRO--MM-Purchasing---PO-Set up STO-----assign doc type, one step procedure, underdelivery tolerances.
There you have to enter your supplying and receving plant with the Purchasing doc type( UB).
    Now the process:
    1) Receiving plant will create a STO towards issuing plant.
    2) Issuing plant will transfer material from their unrestricted use stock to stokc in transit using mvt type 351.
    3) Receiving plant receives the goods using MIGO mvt type 101.

  • What to give for CLSID when creating an instance of cl_gui_container?

    Hello all,
There is a non-optional field in the interface (importing section) of the constructor (a method) of the class cl_gui_container called clsid. What should I pass to this parameter clsid when I call this method to create an instance of this class for creating an ALV grid?
Could you please email me the documentation of this class at [email protected], I am getting the documentation only in German.
    Thanks,
    Charles.

Please use its subclass instead CL_GUI_CUSTOM_CONTAINER, this classes constructor needs no CLSID.

I then agreed to the terms, filled in my details, and got 'none' as an option on the payments screen :
