What is AS for playing external video ?

Hello,
This is probably very basic question, but that just proves
the fact that I struggle with AS. I would like to place a thumbnail
picture on my web page, which would take the viewer ( when he
clicks on it ) to the external video file, which is located on the
same server where my website is. That video file has name demo.mov
I assume that the thumbnail picture has to be a Button? , but
I am not sure. So would the AS be:
(onRelease) {
gotoAndPlay (URL);
I know it is probably wrong, but I am really lost in this.

thank you guys for your inputs. So, what if I do it like
this?
I would make .html page with my .mov or .flv video clip
embeded on it. I would name that page for example: video.html
and uploade it to the same server where my website is
(www.icebergfilms.com).
then I would assign this AS to the thumbnail on my website:
(onRelease) {
getURL (
http://www.icebergfilms.com/video.html)
Would it work?

Thanks for your answer, I'm doing this question here because I have Media problems with my JAVAFX 2.0 application since october.
I posted many questions about the error "media corrupted" and I couldnt get an answer for my problem. My application change videos all the time and I'm trying to solve the error.
I think that I was wrong choosing JAVAFX 2.0 because it's too new. I have to finish my app because my client is waiting...
I don't know what to do, I spent lot of time... I tested a lot of codecs and the problem persists. I hate vp6 videos.

4. Click Change All Button.

You have to do this with every file that has a different extension. You can't change the default for every file with a different extension in a single operation.

What is good practice for playing multiple video's in a single swf?

Hello,
I have build in the past a video wall with video's inside. After building this i came across some problems.
If you have too many video players loading at once it takes a lot of processing and the tweens in the
page while loading the video's where not moving fluidly, but more in a stuttering way.
After lot's of test i found a good working solution. I imported the flv video's into flash en exported them on the timeline
as a embedded swf. Then i externally loaded these swf files and that performed much better.
Is it even good practice to load multiple video instances at once? I used this time the LoaderMax of greensock but the video's
only play after it's completely loaded. I would like to find a way to progressive play all video's at.
Does someone has experience with this?

How about an XML file which supplies the title for each movie and the location or source of the video to be played? Simple version below.

What to look for in a video camera

i have an apple ibook 700 mhz with imovie....but ill be buying a mac mini within the next few months so i will then have idvd..what are some things that i need to make sure i look for in a video camera. like i dont want to buy something that isnt going to be compatible with my ibook/macmini. im assuming i want a mini dv recorder. any help is greatly appreciated thanks

* miniDV, no miniDVD/flashmem/whatever..
* firewire connected (all miniDV do so, some call it iLink or IE1394) ask dealer for a cable! (some manufacturers "forget" to include...)
* stay with the big brands, no exotic cheapos...
* I highly recommend Sony, pic & audio quality perfect! very good energy management ("stamina")
* in case you need: look for ext. mic plug-in
* in case you need conversion from analogue (beta, VHS, PSP..), look for analogue-IN
* spending BigBucks: HD is a nice-have, but besides playback to tape no other media in sight ("HDDVD")
* 3ccd has "better" pic quality, better lowlight/lowkey quality
* you shouldn't pay for any in-camera-fx (sepia, posterize, ...), you'll do that in iMovie...
* get hands-on experience in shop! some cameras are too small...
* set camera to 16bit audio (my Sony "prefers" 12bit - NoGo with iApps)
* get a tripod

Play external video in CD-ROM

Hi,
I'm building a flash presentation which will be deployed as a
flash projector (.exe) in a CD.ROM.
I need to play a video (.flv) inside the presentation, which
is stored in a folder next to the .exe. I inserted an instance of
the FLVPlayback component on stage, filled out the parameters, but
can't get it to work!!
After setting the "contentPath" parameter, the component
resizes to the movie size, so I guess it found it... but when I
publish the flash file and test the projector, nothing shows in the
flv player (using relative or absolute paths)
What parameters should I use to make this symbol find the
.flv video? Can someone help me or point me to some tutorial? I
can't seem to find any...

Video Problems (need suggestions for playing large videos)

I have a video that I need to play in Authorware. The piece
starts out as a
Photo Slide Show, and then a video will come up. This will be
published to
an EXE file, and loaded onto the computer's hard drive, for
making a
presentation of sorts.
The Authorware piece will be published at 800 x 600, and I
want the video to
be as close to full-screen as possible.
I currently have the video file in 4 versions:
.wmv 720x480 (1,561 KB)
.avi 720x480 (43,346 KB)
.wmv 800x600 (2,295 KB)
.avi 800x600 (656,711 KB)
If I use any of these videos using the Digital Movie icon,
the video will
play in the published file, but there is always a few seconds
of laggy video
playback, and dropped frames. I'd like to use the 800x600
.wmv file, because
of it's much smaller file size. Is there another way to play
this video that
wouldn't have the laggy playback and skipped frames?
If the answer is to use an ActiveX Control, I'd need someone
to point me in
the direction of some guide to using it, as I've never used
any ActiveX
Controls before.

Apps for Playing Music & Videos - Lumia 1320

Can anyone name an app excellent for playing music from folders & an app for video playing with subtitles for NOKIA Lumia 1320?

Luckily, there is an excellent app named MoliPlayer Pro. there is a free trial, but it does play alternative video format files such as MKV, RMVB, MOV etc.

It's super annoying needing to click on the play button every time I navigate to a new clip!

Best practices for referencing external video across multiple computers

I have made a .swf that references an external .f4v . The swf plays fine on my own computer, but does not play on a colleagues computer, or another computer which we tested. The file is not for upload to web , it is for local playback. I assume this is a file path issue, but I have tried many different things including specifying a path and then recreating the same directory structure on the other computer. What am I missing? The f4v file can playback on the colleagues computer (I did install ffdshow , although another tested mp4 also plays back fine) but not the .swf. Please , any help would be greatly appreciated!

This could be a security context issue, is it possible on your own machine you have allowed access to that file or folder containing the F4V file, maybe using the global-security-settings in flash player? Have a read of the following just in case:

Best Option For Playing Multiple Videos

Hi,
I'm tweaking a flash website for a freind and he wants to have some videos play from a page. There are 25 files and ideally I want to achieve the 'Lightbox' look so that the browser window dims and the video plays over the top. After looking around I haven't found any easy solutions.
What is the best way to achieve this, bearing in mind I shall have all these buttons on a page and want to have the video 'float' on top of the actual site?
I'm relatively new to this although a long standing flash user when it comes to animation etc - not great on scripting.
If you could point me to a link or help with the terminology I need that would be great. All my video files are FLV and ready to go. Need to know how to link in with the buttons I already have in place.

AS for playing QT video

Hi everyone,
This may seem to be silly question,but I am new in Flash, so
please don't laugh. I have a picture on one of my web pages. All i
need is to link a Quick Time video file to it. So when someone will
click on that photo, the video will load and play. That video file
(clip1.mov) will be located in the same folder as Flash document
itself. I had tried this AS:
on(click) {
play(clip1.mov);
it is obviusly wrong because it gives me warning right when I
click to check that AS.

The above can't be done.
Flash does not load any video format except FLV (flash video)
and for that
it require more than play action. It needs special playback
component.
What you could do if you want to stick with MOV is simply use
getURL action
which is something like HTML's regular HREF. All it will do
is open a window
with QT in it.
on (release) {
getURL("movie.mov", "_blank");
If you want to run it within flash than you need to encode it
to FLV, import
and the rest will be done automatically if you follow
carefully the wizard.

What to look for in external HD

I'm about to buy a new external hard drive. I've always looked for an apple logo when buying this sort of stuff, but seriously, it's a stupid hard drive. I need a USB 2 port and power. If it is formatted different than I want then I can change it. Time Machine will make a separate disc image anyways, so does a logo matter? Should I just look for something on super-duper-extra-laser sale? Yes, budget-brand drive and my MBP COULD crash at the same time? Am I forgetting anything?

I would pick an HD that you feel comfortable with. FYI, Apple outsources its HDD, so an Apple logo doesn't really mean much if you are looking for an HDD. Apple puts Maxtor and Western Digital HDDs in its iMacs and Hitachis in its 500GB Time Capsule. I don't know if there are any other makes Apple uses, but I hope you get my point. Just make sure that once you pick one out, check the partition scheme and formatting and re-partition and re-format. Many are formatted for PCs out of the box. If you need wireless Time Machine backups and in the market for an AirPort Extreme Base Station, check out the Time Capsule.

Best technique for playing back video through LCD projectors

I recently created a 15 minute project in CS4. I burned it to a DVD and it plays smoothly on a computer and DVD player. I had a auditorium full of people and used a laptop to play the DVD to the LCD projector and the video was stuttery - fast motion, correct motion, and back again. It was not horrible, but I noticed it. What is the best workflow to output the highest qualtiy and best playback to projector? I started with HDV footage and downsampled it to MPEG-DVD. I customized the preset to max at 8 and target at 5. Would flash look and work better? I don't know what make and model the projector was because it was mounted to the ceiling. I noticed this behavior once before on a different projector, same laptop.

Target at 5 is pretty low, unless you are over 110 minutes duration. Since you mentioned only 15 minutes it is definitely too low.
Did you use this DVD-HQ Bitrate & GOP calculator ? That will give you much better quality.
