You're welcome. I've never set up an alias but according to this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622,
"The text you provide becomes the email address ([email protected]). An alias must contain between 3 and 20 characters."
This certainly implies that the alias is not required to be your registered name, and only becomes the prefix for a new @me.com address. There might be something going on with the servers right now as they are probably very focused on getting ready for the iPhone 5 pre-order release, which is supposed to happen any minute now. You might have better luck if you waited a while.

Here's an example: Try to use the knife tool to cut off a section of an image comprised of several objects. Does the tool apply itself in a straight line when used with the option key as per Adobe's instructions? Or does it move in a nervous, wiggling line, option key or not, resulting in a crooked cut? What's going on here?

I recently downloaded a book and it will not open due to being incorrectly formatted. Even though I downloaded this FROM iTunes!!!! What is going on, I have the latest OS and iBook version....??????????

Open up iTunes. Go to Store. Go to Account and sign in. Click on Purchase History. Find your purchase record.

You can't backup your iPhoto Library to the cloud. To backup your library you should copy it to another hard drive. I suggest you use Time Machine (it came with your Mac) with an external HD to backup your Mac's hard drive or, at a minimum, your home folder which will include all of your documents, music and photos.

Hi, my mid 2012 macbook pro is shutting down by its self. I have a non retna display model. It has done this on battery and ac power. I do not know what is going on. When the computer restarted it said that there was a problem the cauesed it to crash.

Restart your Mac after uninstalling the a/v software. A/V software is invasive and sometimes hard to uninstall.
If your Mac stil generates a kernel panic, backup your important data then reformat (erase) the disk and restore using OS X Recovery

That said, what "server" issue are you referring to? Maybe some of your peers can assist if we know what the issue is that you are reporting.

What is going on with all the ads lately? I do not have this problem with Chrome or IE and I have done the update.

I've been a big fan of what you guys are doing for a long time but can not stand using the browser lately due to the pop ups everywhere. It makes me question the whole "Proudly Non-Profit" thing.

Welcome to the Apple Community Kristine.
iCloud is for syncing documents between your devices, other than your back ups, you cannot put data into iCloud and then remove it from your phone.

If nothing helps, you need to contact Verizon for information for an exchange or refund. This is a user to user forum, not Apple.
Apple's policy for a refund or exchange is within 14 days of purchase. Verizon's policy may be different.
Definitely try restoring .. hopefully you won't have to go through the hassle of an exchange.

Thank you Winston for a helpful response and for reminding me of something which I found nearly a year ago and then lost (in my mind) because I did not use it. I am grateful for a correct answer but it still only achieves part of what I wanted.
I can now choose my photos, decide how long they stay on screen and choose one of a variety of presentations. Two things I still can't do.
One is to get it to play the photos in the chronological order in which I have carefully set them in an album; it still tends to be random and repetitive. The other is that I cannot get any of them them to saty on screen for more than about 20 seconds. I guess this is all due to the way Apple TV is constructed.
