What is Process Manufacturing?

Hello All,
Can any tell me what is process manufacturing. As i am a starter, if you could throw some light in detail or brief level, how it works, where it works, for what it is? and What is the better way to start digging in to this module, i mean where is the head and tail?
I am working on Supply chain process- Quote to Cash and procure to pay, is it related to that? or if you have some interesting doc's, if you could forward me and that will be a good start for me [email protected]
Thanks in Advance!

  • Special variances in Process Manufacturing

    Dear OPM Forum member,
You are in the Oracle Process Manufacturing Community and as a fellow member, I would appreciate your input on leading practices for this case.
A large manufacturer in the Chemicals and Petroleum space has engaged us to collaborate on a footprint to rapidly deploy Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM) globally.
This Company uses four variance calculations not available in OPM. To illustrate, one of them is Manufacturing Yield Variance. The others are for usage, filling and batch. None of these are available in OPM.
We have identified 2 probable solutions – (1) Calculate these variances in a business intelligence tool or report and then adjust the production formulae for accuracy or (2) extend Subledger Accounting by adding these 4 variances to the existing list.
However, if you solutioned a similar requirement, we would like to know what you did to enhance OPM with these special customer calculations. A writeup, if already available would help us greatly.
    Thanks,
    Sanjib Manna

    Srini
Sorry for my late reply. I was trying to get my arms around these variances and finally have time to update this thread.
    Here is the background.
We have a liquid batch for paint intermediate (Master Rex). Intermediate product is yielded to the Filling batch wherein the liquid is filled in drums or containers to produce the final SKU product. There is a separate costing and production formula for the liquid batch and a separate costing and production formula for filling batch. Here are the details on the variances.
    1. What is MANUFACTURING YIELD VARIANCE?
1st, M-rex Theoretical Gallons Available is calculated as - Actual Output / Formula weight per gallon.
In the above, Formula weight per gallon is Total Costing Ingredient Quantity / Yield Product Costing Quantity.
2nd, Manufacturing Yield Calculation is calculated as Planned Quantity - Theoretical Gallons Available.
In the above formula, Planned Quantity = Production Formula Planned Quantity.
Manufacturing Yield Variance = Manufacturing Yield Calculation * Product Standard Cost (M-rex).
    2. What is USAGE VARIANCE?
    = Sum ((Actual Ingredient 1 Quantity - Planned Ingredient 1 Quantity) * Ingredient 1 Standard Cost) + ........)
    3. What is FILLING YIELD CALCULATION?
1st, Filling Theoretical Gallons Available is calculated as M-rex Theoretical Gallons Available. In the current domestic system, the filling batch is automatically spawned from M-rex batch once M-rex batch is completed. Additionally, there are automatic system checks to ensure the M-rex quantity in the spawned Filling batch is same as the parent M-rex batch.
2nd, Filling Yield Calculation is calculated as Filling Theoretical Gallons Available - Actual Gallons.
In the above formula, Actual Gallons = Actual Yield * Filling Formula M-rex Quantity.
Filling Yield Variance = Filling Yield Calculation * Product Standard Cost (M-rex).
    4. What is METHODS VARIANCE?
I made a 1000 gallon batch, here is the process assuming a standard cost of $1.00 for ingredients A, B and C and product X.
    Cost of making 1000 gallons of product X: 1000 Gallons * $1.00 = $1000
    Material cost incurred for using Ingredient A: 50 Kgs * $1.00 = $50
    Material cost incurred for using Ingredient B: 100 Kgs * $1.00 = $100
    Material cost incurred for using Ingredient C: 800 Kgs * $1.00 = $800
Resource charges incurred for producing X: $30
    Methods Variance = $1000 – ($50 + $100 + $800 + $30) = $20.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sanjib

  • Oracle Process Manufacturing Release 11i

    Hi there,
Is there a free version of Oracle Process Manufacturing 11i for download? If so what is the site?
    Thanks.

    Hi All,
Here I talk a step to explain about Discrete, Flow, Process and project manufacturing process.
    Discrete:
    1. Assemblies are built in specific (discrete) quantities. These jobs or work orders use specific materials and resources.
Say ship building, job shop companies etc are few examples of discrete.
    2. Assemblies that are made in groups or batches.
Discrete Manufacturing is a Batch production situation related to most industries like Engineering
It use routings to schedule job production activities and create operation specific material and resource requirements.
    Flow:
Flow manufacturing developed to support 'Lean manufacturing'.
    Lean manufacturing concepts include:
JIT, pull, value stream mapping, kanban, single piece flow etc.
This module will enable flow manufacturing concerns.
    Ex: Car manufacturing
    http://forio.com/simulation/oracle/main.htm?page=background&FD_p=1
    http://www.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/en/psa_group/visite/index.html
    Process:
It is purely for process manufacturing concern
Ex: Chemical industry, pharmateicals etc jus think of chemical laboratory.
    Project:
Projects are used to track costs by specifying revenue and billing methods. Each project can have a set of top level tasks, and a hierarchy of subtasks.
As rightly said ETO is example for project manufacturing
    To answer your questions
1- A Steel making Company is under Discrete Manufacturing or not?
Depending the concern manufacturing practice only we can say it as discrete or not.
From the above explanation you can able to understand it.
All discrete industry will adopt few lean manufacturing principles to add value in their process.
2- Can we have Discrete & Process in one organization? because some part of my Org like Discrete Manufacturing and other like Process Manufacturing ?
Yes we can have, say for a final product two or more items may come from both discrete and process types.
Hope it is clear and helpful.
    Tks

  • Which interface for documents for process manufacturing for chem industry?

    Hi,
My partner is looking for a technical contact who could help him in finding the right integration to manage technical documentation for process manufacturing in the chemical industry.
Not sure if this is the right forum but any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Seher

    Hello Seher,
as there are several ways in SAP to manage documents I need som emore information to give you a reliable answer:
What is the process you want to support, what do you want to do with the documents?
Do these technical documents have a lifecycle?
What are the requirements to "manage technical documentation"?
What do you mean with "integration"? E.g.: Do you want to link a document to an SAP object?
Where are the documents today, file server?
    Best regards,

  • What is discrete manufacturing and REM?

    Hello All,
What is discrete manufacturing and REM?
    Sincerely,
    Ketan

    Hi ketan,
-Discrete manufaturing is  Lot based production system, Porduction order is cretaed for Every Lot and order based confirmation & Cost control is carried out.
-Repetative manufacturing is period based production system, production order concept will not work, so period based confirmation & cost control is carried out.
Below points helps to underdstand the difference between them.
    - A typical characteristic of discrete manufacturing is the frequent switching from one manufactured product to another. The products are typically manufactured in individually defined lots, the sequence of work centers through production varying for each one of these. Costs are calculated on the basis of orders and individual lots.
    - In Repetitive Manufacturing, products remain unchanged over a longer period and are not manufactured in individually defined lots. Instead, a total quantity is produced over a certain period at a certain rate.
    - Discrete manufacturing typically involves varying the sequence of work centers through which the products can pass during production. The order of work centers is determined in routings, which can often be very complex. There can be waiting times between the individual work centers. Also, semi-finished products are frequently placed in interim storage prior to further processing.
    - Repetitive Manufacturing, on the other hand, normally involves a relatively constant flow on production lines. Semi-finished products are usually processed further immediately without being put in interim storage. Routings tend to be relatively simple.
I hope u have understood if yes please reward and close the thread.
    Regards
    Pardeep

  • Integration with Process Manufacturing

We are looking at upgrading Financials and Process Manufacturing to R11i early next year. Currently we use i2's Rhythm Factory Planner but are interested in the APS developments.
Which APS modules are available for use with OPM? Also where can I get an indicication of the cost per module?

I've got this info from Oracle. Hope this helps. OPM is integrated with APS now.
    1. It uses the advanced planning engine and global ATP.
    2. Demand Planning integration is in the works.
    3. Manufacturing Scheduling is purely a discrete option and not needed for
    OPM.
The pricing of APS for OPM is the same as the standard APS and is priced by Cost of Goods Sold. You may get the price details from your local Oracle sales.

what word processing program should I use with my Mac?

Not quite. Downloading the current version of NeoOffice is definitely not free (downloading the previous version is). The developers of NeoOffice (the most Mac-like of the StarOffice descendants) make a distinction between the application itself (which is free) and downloading it, for which they require what they are pleased to call a "donation" (since it's mandatory, I would call it a fee).

Would that include the report on the state of the US economy -- you know, the one President Obama asked you to deliver to the White House no later than 7AM on January 4? The one in two columns, with numbered paragraphs, table of contents, footnotes, mathematical formulae, 40 figures, 60 charts, quotations in Arabic, Japanese, and classical Greek, and 15 pages of references in APA style?
Grant Bennet-Alder is right -- "the real answer depends on what work you expect to do with it, and with whom you expect to do this work". There are dozens of word processors for Mac, from the venerable Word to the no less venerable Tex-Edit+. It would pointless to start listing them all, when many of them might be either too little or too much for your needs.

  • What word processing program should I purchase for iMac

What word processing program should I purchase for iMac

    Hi
Pages is very good as a Word Processor but it lacks the ability to do Macros if you continually do a repeat operation.  For me I cut and paste text from another source and it needs reformatting Font; bold, size, colour every time I do it.  It is a real pest.
Many years ago Word Perfect Mac could do this [still the best wordprocessor interface] also [from memory] Apple Works had the ability to record macros.
A current MAC wordprocessor to look at which will do pretty much everything INCLUDING MACROS is Nisus Writer.  Express version is $49, Pro version $79 and it has a free 15 day demo.

  • What is process to close the  multiple open delevery in sap

hi i have multiple open delivery  and what s process to help i close it.please give me solution to close all open delivery.

    Hi,
What is the purpose of doing this?
However, if you complete/close the deliveries you would still see them under document flow of the sales order, which might be misleading for other users for reporting purposes, etc.
Instead, I would go ahead and delete the deliveries if they are never going to be delivered/PGI'ed.

I bought and transfer mac application (fxpansion Tremor) to ipod touch. Double tap dmg file in FileApp brings up unknown filetype dialog. What app processes dmg files to install them?
an ipod touch supports all files types which its apps support

thanks, it's good to get a reply, but why do you keep going on about windows? Agreed, there is no mention that Tremor runs on iOS. So far this is the only reason given that it cannot run on iOS. You can read and I can read.
By putting the question to the community I was hoping for something like: the app you want is here-link, or the app you want cannot be written because technical-reason.
From a words point of view it would seem to be open for any ios developer to support DMG files.

    Hi
COpy the Script F110_PRENUM_CHEK to some ZFORM and attach it in the F110 tcode for the related company code and payment method..
You can do the required modifications to the script as per your requirement.
Generally we use the Preprinted stationary for printing the cheque
in which on the top vendor address and the fi doc line items will be printed.
in the last cheque is printed.
We have to print just few fields on that pre printed cheque like Vendor name, Amount, Date and amount in words etc.
You have take some rought stationary xerox copies and to check by printing the fields whether they are correctly matching to the fields on the cheque exactly or not..have to adjust the positions and map.
    see the doc
    Run Payment Program (F110)
    Purpose
Use this procedure to run the automatic payment program. The payment program is used to create cheques, BACs payments, electronic transfers, etc. for vendors. It is also used to create a direct debit file for customer payments. The payment program runs in three specific steps, which must be run in order.
Create Payment Proposal. This is a listing of proposed payments. The proposal should be reviewed for accuracy and edited or deleted if incorrect. No postings or payments are created at this step.
Create Payments. This step creates posting documents in the system, clearing the customer/vendor subledger accounts and posting the offsetting item to a cash or cash clearing account.
Create Payment Media. This step creates the actual payments, sending cheque forms to the printer or creating files of electronic payments to be sent to the bank.
    Trigger
Perform this procedure when you are ready to create vendor payments or to create a direct debit file for customers.
    Prerequisites
    • You must have the following master data prepared:
    • Banks and bank accounts with associated general ledger accounts;
    • Appropriate payment methods assigned to your company code;
    • Customer and vendor master records with the appropriate details completed.
    • If you wish to create a cheque payment, the vendor/customer master record must contain full address details.
    • If you wish to create an electronic payment, the vendor/customer master record must contain full bank details.
    • If you wish to create a direct debit transaction for a customer, the 'Col' (collection authorization) checkbox must be selected. This field is found on the General Data - Payment Transaction Data tab.
    Navigation Path
Use the following navigation path to begin this transaction:
    • Select Processes è Purchase Requisition through to Payment è Payments è Automatic Payments è Run Payment Program to go to the Automatic Payment Transactions: Status screen.

  • What is process form data in controller

    hello friends,
what is process form data in controller? i can not see process form data when i created controller, what is the significance to use process form data in controller?exactly which scenario we can use in our OAF application?
as per jdevguide, i could not clear this below.
In most -- if not all -- of the pages that you build, you will have no cause to overwrite this method. In fact, the only use case we could think of is extremely unlikely in an OA Framework application: if the data source for a region is not a view object, so the view instance and attribute properties are not defined for the individual web beans, then you could code the region's processFormData() to write the child web bean data to the appropriate data source. Note: The OA Framework implements processFormData() at the item level, but you can overwrite it only at the region level, so you must process all of the region's items if you ever implement anything like this. If you do choose to implement something like this, remember to call super.processFormData(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean) first.
    Thanks
    krish.

  • Scenario for Process Manufacturing..

    Dear All,
Our client imports goods and then packages them at their site into different packages and boxes. After that those products are dispatched. The client wants to keep an eye on the status of packaging and for that they require a Manufacturing module.
Can Process Manufacturing be implemented for this scenario or Discreet Manufacturing will be a better option?

    Hi
Both the way you can choose.
As an OPM Consultant, I prefer to go with Process Manuf. Module.
    In your case
    1. Your importing your Finished goods and just doing the packing to these Finished goods
    2. Now this Packed FG, your are now selling to the Customers
When choose OPM, Here you need to create Formula/Recipe using this you need to perform a Production Batch.
In Formula, keep your Imported Item as Ingredient and Packege Item as (may be box/Cartoon/Sheet....etc) Ingredient and Lables(if required) also as Ingredient and with these Ingredients now you want to make a desired Finished Goods as PRODUCT using Recipe in Production Supervisor Module to complete your Batch.
Now your Packed FG is ready to Ship to Customer.
Hope you understood and implement this.
