What is the 1.12gb of "other"

my ipod keeps getting 1.12gb of "other" put on to it, causeing it to become over capacity, i would like to know, what this "other" is, since it doesn't get added to my ipod until i click sync.

To add to Nick's comments, "Other" is typically approximately 1 gigabyte. Occasionally for some users, it gets much (many times) bigger because they have some corrupt files. If that's the case, it's best to restore the iPhone.
Plug the iPhone into (current) iTunes, let it sync, then choose "Restore" on the right. If restoring from the iPhone backup does not help, then restore (again) as new and then manaully sync the iPhone.

Will you be collecting the photos in iPhoto on your iPhone or on a Mac? On a Mac a Shared PhotoStream requires Mac OS X 10.8.2.

Yes, 4 gigabytes is a lot of "Other". Normally "Other" takes roughly 1GB. In your case, it probably indicates you have corrupted files.
To clean them out, restore your iPad. Plug it in to (current) iTunes, let it synch, then choose "Restore" from the iPad's summary page.
You can try restoring from backup, but that may not clear "Other" out for you. If it doesn't, try restoring as new and them manually sync your iPad.

What is the best Logitech (or other) camera to buy for use with 10.3.9?

I have heard that both Gearhead and Rocketfish have many issues. I read that Logitech cameras, various ones, work with either 10.2 and under or 10.4.9 and over. The Isight prices on ebay or very high. Calls to both Logitech and Apple leave me disconcerted with there cryptic answers. Officially, it seems that Logitech has no camera that works with 10.3.9 but I have read that it has been done. I don't need all the bells and whistles that a new model Logitech camera provides and I know I won't get those on the MaC, however, I would like a good pictre and Skype compatibility. I know I can get iChatUSB and Macam drivers with some cameras. Can I do all that on 10.3.9? Is there another, different company that makes good cameras I can use with 10.3.9? A call to Creative Labs brought me a "no" when I asked him if any of their cams were 10.3.9 compatible but I question if he was right.
I know there has to be many of you out there with this issue - no Isight, but using Panther with a really good after market camera and really satisfied with the results...what did you do?
Please help me and tell me what my best option is....upgrading seems very expensive as well.

I use iSight, but if you do not get better answers here, I offer the following for your consideration.
If you have a Mac compatible, Firewire connected DV camcorder, it will work for your video chats. If not, take your portable Mac with you when you go shopping, and ask to try any camera of interest with your computer and software before you buy. That way you will KNOW you have one that works for you with the apps you want to use.
Unless your 10.3.9 laptop has a G3 processor whose speed is less than 600 Mhz, it can give you a good picture and Skype compatibility if your system meets the other system requirements for all the apps you plan to use. Any camera's video frame rates will be noticeably slow if your laptop is a sub-600 Mhz G3.
If multi-party video chat or screen sharing are not important to you, there is no need to upgrade to later versions Mac OS X and iChat. The latest version of Skype is compatible with 10.3.9 and later, so there is no Skype impact on your upgrade decision.
You are correct that you will need iChatUSBCam and drivers to send iChat video from your 10.3.9 Laptop. (Your laptop system will also need to meet the other System Requirements for iChat AV 2.1 that are not obviated by using iChatUSBCam.
Although other USB cams may work, you can use iChatUSBCam's camera guide page to find a list of USB cameras that are Known Working Configurations. Any of them should be compatible with Skype, but check the camera's compatibility info before you buy to be sure it claims to work with Skype. If it works with Skype for Windows, it will work with Skype for Mac.

System pref- what do the display numbers mean &other questions

1. are they the choices that the mini (purchased 9/07) can "send to the display" or are they the monitor's only display choices built into the monitor (like 1024x 768)
2. whats the advantage if any of a widescreen LCD display
3. will any "cheap- ie $200-300 LCD viewsonic. samsung, HP monitor work with my new mini if the monitor has a dvi or vga plug?

Great questions edwardh1. I'll tell you what I think are the answers.
1) The mini does contain several pre-installed resolutions, so it is aware of several "standard" resolutions without any reliance on a display driver. However, whether or not the mini makes some or all of these resolutions available to the attached display will depend on how the mini "detects" the display.
2) Widescreen is much better for modern digital media. For example, DVD playback on a widescreen is much nicer than on a conventional screen. It's also nice to have a little extra width when using certain programs that have tool palettes. You can stick the palettes off to the side where they don't interfere with your work area. And if you go really big, like a 24" monitor, you can put two pages side-by-side, which can result in a real boost in efficiency with certain tasks.
3) As to whether any monitor will work with a mini, in theory the answer is yes. But if you hang out on these discussion boards long enough you will see that the road is full of potholes. Apple, as has been the case for a number of years, is always on the leading edge of new technologies, with Windows in a trailing position. If you want examples, think of USB, FIrewire, Bluetooth, DVI...the list goes on and on. Macs use a modern plug-and-play architecture for delivering the display driver to the host (Mac). Windows can perform this trick, but they also have a legacy system where the user installs the display driver (usually from a CD ROM) or else a wizard installs the driver from the internet. The problem with old habits on Windows is that they die hard. So even though modern displays for the most part correctly implement plug-and-play drivers, which in theory Windows does support, there are plenty of cases where the display manufacturers blow it and fail to do a good job of it. Instead they ship the Windows driver on a CD and call it a day. So you can be 90+% confident of a good result when buying a non-Apple monitor, but by no means is it guaranteed.
4) This question is very similar to your first question. Yes, the mini will have pre-installed several standard timings. I am sure 1024 x 768 would be on that list.
My final comment would be don't worry too much about buying a third-party display. Go for what you want with the confidence it will most likely work just fine.

It doesn't. "Real" Time Machine backups are entirely different and separate from Local snapshots, although they're usually made at the same time, and displayed on the same "Star Wars" display. You can turn Local snapshots on separately, via the Terminal command in #30 (I usually have them running on my iMac). They may get turned back off unexpectedly, though, in some reboot situations. I haven't figured it out exactly, but it seems to be if you boot to the Recovery HD, then back to Lion. Sometimes.

It's most likely data from other applications. It's pretty difficult to find corrupt files even with an explorer program. And restoring is usually correct. I know I had some corrupt video files which took up some space, but it's different for each device.
Also, if by any chance you are jailbroken, Cydia + other cydia apps = Other in iTunes.

You are probably going to need to ask Yamaha for this code. Verizon may not have the time and resources to keep track of other manufacturer's remote control systems. Have you tried using the Verizon Set Top box manufacturer's codes on your Yamaha remote? This would be Motorola or another STB manufacturer, it should be visible on the front of the STB.

PLSQL Web Tool Kit (HTP) disabled in R12 - What are the alternitives

We have developed a fair amount of add-on applications in our e-business suite using the plsql web toolkit (htp). This functionality has been disbaled in R12.
My question to Oracle, "What is the work around for using applications we developed in 11i that were developed using the plsql web toolkit?

R12 does not support WWK fucntions.
You will need to recreate these as custom JSP pages.
The pl/sql toolkit in the Apache Server is disabled in R12 as a security precaution.
1. What are other people doing who have encountered this issue?
2. Is it possible to enable the pl/sql toolkit in the apache server? If for nothing else than to buy time until these apps are re-written as jsp apps.
3. Is anyone doing something other than jsp? i.e. SSWA Servlet Function?
Any help or suggestions appreciated.

The factoring indicator is used in Reporting => Accounting Reports => General Ledger.
If a factoring indicator has been defined for a Business Partner, it
will be entered automatically into each Journal Entry that will be
posted for this BP.
In Reporting => Accounting Reports => General Ledger, you can
click on the "Expanded" pushbutton, check the "Indicator" button, select "From" and "To" and the system will only display the transactions which include the selected indicator.
This field is for the so-called subrogation, which means
demands to BPs are sold to the bank.
Through this field you can allocate an assignment code to
a Business Partner, this code can be used in an accounting reports.
This functionality is only intended for Austria.
Also, following information from the Online Help (F1)
Factoring Indicator
Assign a factoring indicator for the business partner. Note that both code and name are displayed.
This indicator is automatically inserted as default value in the invoice. The factoring indicator may be displayed in the account statements.
Choose to open a Choose From List window displaying the indicators that have been defined. Choose New to define new ones.
The indicator is only displayed after activating the field Indicator in Personal Settings.
