What is the meaning of data blocks ?

hi,
What is the exact meaning of "data blocks" in the following paragraph ?
Index records and table records are organized in data blocks.
If you dispatch an SQL statement from an ABAP program to the database, the program searches for the data records requested either in the database table itself (full table scan) or by using an index (index unique scan or index range scan). If all fields requested are found in the index using an index scan, the table records do not need to be accessed.
A data block shows the level of detail in which data is written to the hard disk or read from the hard disk. Data blocks may contain multiple data records, but a single data record may be spread across several data blocks.

Hi  ,
As Per oracle , data  is stored in database  in form of Data blocks , extent and Segments .
Physical space of memory is allocated to store data  .
first level is called  BLOCKS  ,nexxt is extent   and last  is SEGMENT  .
each block can store multiple data records  and   Conversly large no of  data records can be stored  in data Blocks  .
data is stored in DATA BLOCKS which is smallest unit in oracle where data is stored in bytes  .

Deepak.

  • What is the meaning of ABAP/4 editor integrated with ABAP/4 data dictionary

    hi All
      i want the correct meaning of the following sentence <b>"What is the meaning of ABAP/4 editor integrated with ABAP/4 data dictionary"</b>.If any onre knows kindly explain me...
    thanks in advance...

    Hi,
    Abap is programming language in business, data dictionary is kind a interface for editor to retrive from database level to presentation area. its a meta data.
    The ABAP Dictionary’s integration with the rest of the development environment enables ABAP programs to automatically recognize the names and characteristics of dictionary objects.
    Additionally, the system provides easy navigation between development objects and dictionary definitions. For example, as a programmer, you can double-click on the name of a dictionary object in your program code, and the system will take you directly to the definition of that object in the ABAP/4 Dictionary.
    Reward points if helpful,
    regards,

  • How to reduce the number of data blocks used by table

    Hi,
    I was trying to reduce the space usage of a particular table of my apex application which stores blob content and therefore deleted many records from it.
    However, the data block usage remained the same as before.
    I have tried to 'analyze' the table and validate the structure,but am unable to overcome this problem.
    Could someone throw some light on what needs to be to reduce the number of data blocks used by this table?
    Best Regards,
    Priya Jetley

    Priya:
    It is likely that the BLOB content defined in your table is being stored 'Out-of-Line'. This means that the LOB columns are stored in segments of their own. These then are the segments that may need shrinking.

    Actual: Last working day of employee at the company
    Last standard: The last date when Salary is paid (mainly end of month)
    Final Process:No more payment process after this date.
    Example: employee's last working day was 17.OCT.2007 ,
    Last standard date is 31.OCT.2007 (Recieved last pay check).

    What is the meaning of dumping in oracle?
    Also tell me is there any method to dump by user commands?

    Hi,
    Dumping is a format used for storing regular oracle data that is used for transferring data between two databases or servers or within the database i.e export/import.
    For dumping user commands you can use user auditing.

  • What is the meanning of the following ?

    hi , db 10g ,
    What is the meanning of the following :-
    1- Literals .
    2- Expressions in Sql .
    3- PL/SQL Expressions .
    4- Padded blanks .

    It is all documented.
    1 - Literal: https://web.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/10g/server.101/b10759/sql_elements003.htm#sthref377
    The terms literal and constant value are synonymous and refer to a fixed data value. For example, 'JACK', 'BLUE ISLAND', and '101' are all character literals; 5001 is a numeric literal. Character literals are enclosed in single quotation marks so that Oracle can distinguish them from schema object names.
    2 -SQL Expressions: https://web.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/10g/server.101/b10759/expressions001.htm
    About SQL Expressions
    An expression is a combination of one or more values, operators, and SQL functions that evaluates to a value. An expression generally assumes the datatype of its components.
    This simple expression evaluates to 4 and has datatype NUMBER (the same datatype as its components):
    2*2
    SQL (simple) expression: https://web.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/10g/server.101/b10759/expressions002.htm#sthref802
    simple_expression::=
    3 - PL/SQL expressions: https://web.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/10g/appdev.101/b10807/02_funds.htm#sthref211
    Expressions are constructed using operands and operators. An operand is a variable, constant, literal, or function call that contributes a value to an expression. An example of a simple arithmetic expression follows:
    -X / 2 + 3
    Unary operators such as the negation operator (-) operate on one operand; binary operators such as the division operator (/) operate on two operands. PL/SQL has no ternary operators.
    The simplest expressions consist of a single variable, which yields a value directly. PL/SQL evaluates an expression by combining the values of the operands in ways specified by the operators. An expression always returns a single value. PL/SQL determines the datatype of this value by examining the expression and the context in which it appears.

    my iphone 3 couldn't restore, its saying the error 46. what is the meaning of error 46?and how can i resolve it?

    It doesn't matter when you installed antivirus software; if you have it on your computer it will frequently block access from applications to sites it does not know about. A sync does not require access to a site not on your computer; an upgrade clearly does. So if you have never jailbroken any device you do not need to be concerned about your hosts file, but you DO need to temporarily disable your antivirus during the update process.
    The hosts file is an operating system file on all computers that overrides DNS lookup. In order to jailbreak or hack an iDevice the programs that do it need to redirect iTunes so it does not go to the Apple activation server, but instead goes to the hacking program for activation instructions. It does this by adding a record to the hosts file that bypasses the DNS lookup for gs.apple.com. But you don't have to be concerned about this.

  • When I call nifGetObjectDictionary on a Domain Index, what is the format of data returned

    hello,
    When I call nifGetObjectDictionary on an Active Schedule Domain Index (450) of NI Card, retrieved from S-OD -> DLL Link Schedule OD Index, what is the format of data returned? I received 0801C202FFFF000000 as data and it is not matching with FF-Spec (Field Device Access Agent, page 95).
    Could you please let me know the format/structure of the data i received, so that i can parse them and understand?
    Also let me know is there any API available in NI API to upload/read Schedule Domain?
    Thanks
    Shankar.

    Sorry for replying late!
    We don't have the nifGetObjectDictionary function, so may I make a guess that you mean nifGetObjectDescription? If I'm right, there will be some trouble.
    To be honest, basically we don't support the APIs which are not included in the "NI-FBUS CM Function Reference Manual". In further, would you please let me know how you find this kind of internal functions? We cannot support it until we verify the customer has bought the complete version of APIs package and this package is still in the support period. If it matches your case, would you please help me in the verification? And then we can support the details for your question later.
    On the other hand, we don't have the APIS to upload/read Schedule Domain now.

  • What is the meaning of the dotted circle next to a song on a playlist?

    Why is there a dotted circle next to certain songs on a playlist that reflect on my iPhone on iTunes and these same songs after syncing are not reflecting on my iPhone?

    What is the meaning of this -
    Object[] x = {new String[]{"a","b"}};
    I have a function which takes Object[] as a argument.
    And I have data structure like this -
    Name = Zoolander
    Name = Hansel
    Name = Mugatu
    I am not interested in the Name part. This has to be
    converted to - Object[] x = {new String[]{"a","b"}}
    It works if I hard code the values like this -
    Object[] x = {new
    String[]{"Zoolander","Hansel","Mugatu"};
    Thanks in advanceI don't think you need the outer set of braces:String[] x = new String[]{"x","y","z"};will work, and does exactly what you expect it to do.

    HeuristicHazard Exception is internally thrown by weblogic transaction subsystem. If transaction is rolled back or commited and somebody tries to rollback or commit same transaction again, we internally throw heuristic hazard exception.
    This can happen in scenarios like this.
    When we start the transaction, we put xid in the tlog file. Once we commit/rollback transaction and it is successful, we remove entry for that xid from tlog files. If something happens after transaction is commited/rolledback but tlog entry is not removed, at server startup we do recovery process
    and we will try to commit/rollback this tx which is already completed. In this case we throw heuristichazard exception. Generally, this exception is harmless.
    Thanks,

  • What is the difference between data base objects and runtime objects

    What is the difference between data base objects and runtime objects

    Hi raja,
    data base objects means u can have the presence of these objects in the database.So the tables,searchhelps,structures,lockobjects comes under these ones.
    Runtime objects are created and destroyed after the program ends, any changes we make to them are temporary only.

  • What deterimes the amount of data in a waveform from a TDS 1012 scope

    Hello,
       What determines the amount of data that is in a waveform that comes out of a TDS 1012 scope? I am assuming that I will have to look at the driver vi to determine the commands sent to the scope to figure it out. I am in a situation that I need to have the y axis to have a high resolution, that results in very little data being collected from the scope.

    Regards,
    Kaspar

    Hello,
        The amount of data that comes out of the TDS 1012 scope is determined by the data start (DATaTARt)  and data stop (DATaTOP)  commands that are defined on page 58 (2-38) in the  346 page programming manual for the scope. I found of that the data start was not set to 1, which is the beginning of the data.
        I also had a very low level signal on channel that was all most unreadable by the scope that caused me to think that I was not getting all of the data.

  • MM - PO - what is the meaning of this button?

    Dear friends,
    Could anybody help me with one question.
    There is a strange button in a Purchasing Order on the Account Assignment tab page on this screenshot (it is marked with red color).
    Screenshot below
    http://content.foto.mail.ru/mail/raiden87/81/i-84.jpg
    What is the meaning of this button? When it is used for?
    I hope that anybody knows the meaning =)

    hi raiden,
    as for as i have gone through the issue I have come to know that:
    If you want to use multiple account assignment for a line item in PO then at that moment you will have to first press the "repeat on " button. only after that multiple account button will be active that is just before your "repeat on " button.
    Steps:
    1:Save your PO.
    2:Go to transaction code ME22N to change the PO.
    (Here you will firstly see that the multiple a/c assignment button is firsty gray.It will become active only after when you press the "repeat on" button).
    I hope It will be helpfull for you.
