What is the minimum functional AD level required by SharePoint 2013
So we are wanting to set up SharePoint 2013 in our development environment but can't seem to find what the minimum AD level needed for SharePoint 2013 to operate. I know that the domain controller in our development environment is a bit older, but
not sure of the OS version and want to know if getting SharePoint 2013 will be as simple as setting up a server based on the minimum software specs listed or if the domain controller will also need an upgrade. I found a question on this site about AD
requirements when setting up SharePoint in the DMZ but the answer and the links it provided didn't answer this particular question. I would have just provided a link to the question that I found, but received the message "Body text cannot contain
images or links until we are able to verify your account". No verification e-mail received yet...
Minimum is Native 2003 (with Domain Controllers running Windows Server 2003 SP2).

As far as my view there is no such dependancy as our customers are running in same Environemnt (R/3 4.7 EE and BI 7.0) .
Are you facing any problem durng extraction or its just a proactive approarch .
I hope extraction will work with your current landscape.

What are the minimum db user privileges required for CDC?
What are the minimum privileges required for the source data server user in order to to successfully implement CDC
Currently I'm getting an "Insufficient privileges" error when trying to start a CDC journal on a model. The error is happening on the step that creates a trigger on the table in the source schema.
Here's the situation:
The data server uses the user "ODI_TEMP" for its connection. ODI_TEMP has been granted select privileges on the desired tables in the source schema. When starting the CDC journal on the model for the source schema, ODI tries to create a trigger on the source tables. This fails since the ODI_TEMP user can't create triggers on anything outside of it's own schema. For obvious fundamental security reasons, we cannot give the ODI_TEMP user the CREATE ANY TRIGGER system privilege on the data source.
Journalizing is set up using JKM Oracle Consistent. ODI is 11g, DB is 11g.Hi,
You can go for this
Grant CREATE ANY TRIGGER system privilege to ODI_TMP
Start the Journal , it will create triggers in ODI_TMP schema for the tables present in your source schema.
Now revoke CREATE ANY TRIGGER system privilege from ODI_TMP.
It will continue to work .. only when you are restarting the journal (due to adding or removing some tables in CDC) , you will be requiring CREATE ANY TRIGGER privilege.
Thanks,

What are the minimum CPU and Memory requirements for R12 Vision instance?
We are in the process of trying to figure out what the minimum hardware requirements are for installing the R12 Vision instance. This Vision instance would only have 5 or less concurrent users. We may have to order a new server and we are wondering what the minimum CPU and memory would be? Oracle Support will not give us this information.
We aleady know how much disk space it will need.

What are the best practices for audit report for SharePoint 2013 farm ?
Hello,
I am looking for the best practices for audit reporting in SharePoint 2013 farm. Can anyone please provide me checklist/tools/guidelines on same ?
your help will be much appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
Dipti ChhatrapatiThis is quite open ended question. A sharepoint farm should be well maintained as per :
1. Microsoft's recommendations on : Topology, Hardware and Software requirements, Operational procedures and most important Capacity guidelines:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758645(v=office.15).aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787(v=office.15).aspx
2. Organisation's IT policies and procedures : Farm Configuration, Workload and monitoring
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff758658(v=office.15).aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748651(v=office.15).aspx
3. Industry best practices
I would suggest to start thinking over these lines and create a plan for your Sharepoint farm.
You can then create powershell scripts to run these reports at certain frequency to find the changes, any deviation from the standard and health of the entire farm.
Hope this helps!!

What are the minimum IE 11 settings required to run activeX plugin in 64bit Mode?
Tried many different internet options such as advanced->Enhanced protected mode, "security->automatic filtering of ActiveX" "advanced-> 64bit enhanced protected mode (windows 8)", enable many different ActiveX related options
in custom security options.
But 64bit ActiveX on some systems and not working in some other (loads 32bit version). Not sure what is the right approach? Is this depends on IE version. For example in IE11 16428 version it is not working. In IE11 17280 version it is working.
Another observation.
In some system, File->properties option shows "Internet | Protected Mode: On" then only 32bit ActiveX is working. In other systems it shows "Internet | Protected Mode: Enhanced" and 64bit ActiveX is working.
Thank you in advance. Some are windows 7 and some are windows 8.1.
Does this concern an ActiveX Control (plugin) you've created or are creating?
Yes, ActiveX I have created. Created both 32bit & 64 bit ActiveX & registered.
Does the second line of text in IE Help | About read Update
Versions: 11.0.13 (KB3003057) on allcomputers?
There are some differences in versions. One system it is 11.0.14(KB3003057). It is working in this system, Only setting in Advanced tab is sufficient. Need to have Mark
of the Web (MOTW)
tag in the local html file.
In another system same version IE is is not working.
Another windows 8.1 system IE version 11.0.9600.17207 (11.0.10 (KB2962872)) is not working. It shows a popup with "If
you trust this site, you can disable Enhanced Protected Mode
for this site to run the control" message. -
Hi ODI discussion folks,
I have a couple of questions from an Oracle partner that I'm trying to find a definitive answer for if possible. The partner is setting up ODI 10.1.3.4.0 for a customer who insists that the absolute minimum amount of access to the file system is granted due to corporate security policies.
I have checked the bundled ODI documentation but couldn't really find anything about file system permissions needed to run the ODI client. I was pointed towards the "Setting Up Security for an Integration Project — What to Consider" document but this does not mention a great deal about how much access to the file system is needed for the ODI client to function.
What the partner is asking is the following:
"1. What are the minimum file/folder permissions needed for the ODI client installation? I'm installing at xxxxx
and their machines have to be locked down as much as possible.
2. Say you have 3 users all wanting to run integrations etc and the Master and Work
repositories have been set up. An admin installs the ODI client but doesn't
create the connection to the Master repository. What are the minimum
file/folder permissions required on the client machine to:
a) create the connection to the repository
b) run any subsequent integrations?"
If anyone can advise on this then that would be much appreciated.

user648991Hi Craig,
How are you?
Let me try to contribute a little....
1) The minimum requirement is for its own installation directory, there is no reason to have access to other directories unless if it is necessary to read files from some other directory at the client
2) Again only to its own install directory. The connection setting is recorded at \bin install directory. After that, all information are recorded at repository, there is no client work.
Be free to contact me by email or phone if you have any new doubt. You can get my email from my profile.
Does it respond your doubts?

What are the minimum requirements to successfully Synchronize a SharePoint 2010 Calendar or Task List with Outlook 2010?
SharePoint permission levels required for the user profile?
Does the user need top level permissions on the SharePoint site?
What other minimum requirements must be met for Outlook 2010 to synchronize successfully with SharePoint 2010?
TheDrapeHi,
To synchronize these libraries and lists, you must have Outlook 2010 installed on your client computer and you must have Collaborate permission to the library or list.
You don’t need any permissions for the user profile.
I provide you a link about synchronizing SharePoint 2010 content with Outlook 2010 for your reference:

How do I know what is the minimum resource requirement for OLAP 11g?
How do I know for OLAP 11gR1 ...
1. what is the minimum number of CPUs and speed required
2. how much minimum physical memory, SGA, PGA etc. is required?
Regards, AnirbanHello Anirban,
In summary, since the OLAP option is an option to Oracle Database 11g, Enterprise Edition the minimum requirements in order to run the database would be identical to those necessary to run a "Data Warehousing" type installation. That being said starting up a database is a far cry from actually performing well while accessing and building OLAP Cubes in your Database.
There are lots of things to consider. For example: the complexity of your model; data sparcity; level of aggregation; system load, SLAs, etc..
Lets look at true minimum requirements and then consider what it would take to achieve good performance in your environment
TRUE MINIMUM...
I performed a test in my environment (Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.2.0) on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5) using Analytic Workspace Manager 11.2.0.2.0A and found the following minimum settings to work against the OLAPTRAIN schema (You may find it here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/olap/index.html). This is a very small schema which we use for demonstration purposes.
I discovered that the database started with a memory_target of only 160m (apparently this is the absolute minimum for my environment). I knew that if the database successfully started that I would be able to query the Cube but maintain it? Running queries against the OLAPTRAIN Sales Cube, despite being slow, worked as anticipated. Next, I performed a maintain operation on the Sales Cube where I had to abort the job because it ran into memory issues at 160m, however, when I increased it to only 180m it did a complete maintain in a reasonable timeframe, albeit slow considering the limited resources.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO ENSURE REASONABLE PERFORMANCE IN YOUR ENVIRONMENT
Most importantly ensure you have a good cube design
Run a sample set of your data in order to define what "reasonable performance" is for your environment. Create a small representative cube in order to test both build and query performance while collecting and analyzing database statistics through AWR and ADDM. For OLAP option specific queries please take a look at http://wiki.oracle.com/page/OLAP+option+-DBASample+Scripts.
You could creat a view on top of your fact table and use the view to generate your OLAP Cube. This will allow you to test a more manageable amount of data. For example, if you have 10 years of data and want to determine the footprint and resources required in order to manage a Cube of this volume then consider scoping it down to a few months first then increase it by a measured amount in order to predict requirements. Monitor your resources and ensure you balance I/O, memory and processors. Since the OLAP option is a Enterprise Edition option it falls under Data Warehousing. As such there is plenty of literature available on oracle.com in order to define what it takes to achieve a balanced Data Warehouse.
I would recommend contacting Oracle Consulting or an Oracle Partner to determine the best fit for your environment. -
What's the minimum Clock Speed Requirement for GB3?
What's the minimum Clock Speed Requirement for GB3 (assuming one wishes to create and play mult. audio tracks within this current iLife app)? Is it 733mhz?
Here's what i was able to find on
iLife ’06 requirements:
To install iLife, you need:
• A Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4, G5, or Intel Core processor; 733 MHZ or faster required for iDVD
• 256 MB of RAM; 512 MB recommended
• Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or Mac OS X version 10.4.3 or later; Mac OS X version 10.4.4 recommended
• iTunes 6.0.2 and QuickTime 7.0.4 (included)
• A DVD drive for installation
• 10 GB of disk space to install iLife '06 applicationsThanks Christoph, TIA, and AppleGuy!
Christoph, what model are you using? You said you have even less Mhz, but your model looks like the same as mine.
TIA, I looked at the other thread (thanks for the link) any idea what other models are affected by the sound output problem?
I probably will back up first just to be safe, and won't try running them both at the same time. I was hoping though to have full functionality of the Podcasting features plus all the old music ones without slowing the machine down.

What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4?
What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4? I did search this forum but wasn't able to find a direct answer.
I'm running version 3.0.4 successfully on a lowly G4 733 but I suspect this is as far as I can go.
I'm updating to iDvd'08 and was also wondering if I can safely update to GB4 or not (from GB 3.0.7) on a G4 733 mhz Digital Audio. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. My guess is that I cannot but I'd like to confirm prior to attempting any further updates in GB.I try my best to play it safely; always. And you were right, everything worked on the ext. FW HD flawlessly ...... truly amazing software!
(I did happen to check the activity Monitor w/in Utilities and it showed GB4 using about 60-67% of the CPU on a G4 733 ..... I'm assuming this is normal).
Not sure if there's a correct order to opening these apps as there has been in former versions of iLife ..... however, this (as shown above) is the order in which I opened all apps, and all worked well. -

What is the minimum permission required to discover the Farms in the SahrePoint Server?
Do I need to have the access to the SharePoint Database?
I want to do this with help of a 3rd Party API.
Thanks
psarrojAccess to SharePoint doesn't necessarily give access to the SharePoint databases. See Add-SPShellAdmin description.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607596.aspx
Permissions on the databases themselves is often required when accessing SharePoint information programmatically.

What is the minimum permission set required to query alert information using OpsMgr 2012 SDK?
Hi,
I am using the OpsMgr 2012 SDK to retrieve alert information from SCOM.
I tried configuring a read-only role for a user account (Group Scope: All, Dashboards & Views: All) but, as I call some of the APIs like Administration.GetAllManagementServers(), Administration.GetAllAgentManagedComputers() etc. I get a UnauthorizedAccessEnterpriseManagementException.
I need to know what are the minimum permissions required for a user to query alert information and to make calls I mentioned above using the OpsMgr 2012 SDK.
Warm Regards
Himanshu AgarwalThanks for the reply.
Just to give you a context, I am writing a client application where a user can fetch alert information from SCOM using OpsMgr 2012 SDK. There could be many users that would use this application, hence I need to know the minimum set of permissions I can grant
or add them to a group for easy maintenance.
I believed Read-Only admin role was intended for that purpose but some of the SDK APIs as I mentioned throw the said exception.
I would like to know, how can i create such role/group from SCOM 2012 console.
PS: SDK and Config account is used by SCOM to perform DB operations and I would not like to impersonate this account in my client application. Instead I want to make my clients as admins with just enough permissions to read information. I'll have a better
control this way. -
