        Java makes Sap NetWeaver more powerfull than it was before.
       One of the new additions to the Java functionality of NetWeaver includes the Java Virtual Machine container technology. This will allow standard Java code to run on a framework around the Java Virtual Machine itself. It does this by reducing the number of parallel users per virtual machine. It also improves on the overall memory consumption, the application stability and the number of affected users in the event of a screen freeze, loss of data or the need for re-keying of information.
      The JVM technology also includes several added features designed to assist developers in managing error resolutions. This includes the ability for developers to switch a user process in the production system in or out of debugging mode on the fly allowing for minimum downtime. We have completed the installation of PI-AEX 7.4 SR1 then we ran the below wizards successfully.
- Configuration Wizard: PI-AEX initial setup
- Configuration Wizard: PI Self Test for AEX
However when we were Checking the AEX Configuration as per help.sap.com
Check the registration of a business system for the Integration Engine Java in the SLD:
    Enter https://<host>:<port>/sld .
    Choose Start of the navigation path Business System Next navigation step Integration Engine Java <SID> Next navigation step Integration End of the navigation path.
    The pipeline URL must be: http://<host_fully_qualified>:<port>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?ximessage=true .
More information: SAP Note 1435392
for us the Pipeline URL is as below
http://<host_fully_qualified>:<port>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet
and the rest " ?ximessage=true " is not there.
Also we ran the below wizard
Configuration Wizard: PI Self Test for AEX
and it finished successfully without any issue.
Any Suggestions what could be missing.

I found the below SAPNOTE which confirms that the Pipeline URL should be
http://<host_fully_qualified>:<port>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet
1564449 - PI CTC Wrong Pipeline Url after AEX Initial Setup
However on help.sap.com it is different.
Any one experienced the same ?

The role of java.security.acl in Java 2 security

I have been trying to assess the role of the java.security.acl package within the Java 2 Security architecture. I have some questions regarding it.
First where in the JVM are the interfaces of java.security.acl used? Are there any examples out there to guide developers in understanding their proper implementation?
What is the relationship between this package and the core security package? There seems to be a Permission interface in the acl sub-package and an abstract Permission class in the core security package. Why is this the case? Why is the core abstract class not used instead of declaring a new Permission interface within the acl subpackage?
Are not PermissionCollections and Permissions analogous to ACLs? If so then wouldn't that fact make the acl subpackage redundant?
JSR 115 tries to bridge the gap between Java 2 Security in the SDK with security in J2EE. Namely enabling the RBAC-like approach to security in J2EE while using the AccessController of the J2SE to do the evalualtion of J2EE (Servlet/EJB) Permissions. Why are the Group and Owner interfaces defined here not leveraged in both JSR 115 and in general for Role Based Access Control?
Could someone give some background on the vision behind creating the acl subpackage and how it relates to the historical progression of security advances in Java security architectures?

I see from the defined interfaces that its an attempt at a formal approach to RBAC. However RBAC can be implemented without it all together using existing J2SE and JAAS based constructs. This does not answer the redundancy question. Could you elaborate a little bit more?

Right click on each role you have created -> Open -> Object -> In properties look for property category <b>"Navigation"</b> -> Look for property <b>"Sort Priority"</b> -> the role with lowest sort priority, appears as the first tab.
By default, the sort priority is 100.

What is the Role that gives me access to JCO settings page?

I am at the customer site doing some WDP dev. I need to setup JCO so as to make use of RFC.
Customer has already assigned all the roles they have and i still cant access to the backend setting page.
What is the role to give me the access? how do i operate?

Hi Erv2,
As you have mentioned that you are at your customer, then I presume you would want to get things fix ASAP. Thus I would suggest that you talk to your custmoer that they allow you to have the below authorisations or role assignment to your userID (you can ask one of their Portal Admin to sit with you while you work on it and at the same time, train him/her ).
As already mentioned by Koti, in the backend, ask for J2EE_Admin role to be assigned to you via SU01 transaction. Then next, ask them to give you the "Super Administration" role in the Portal via User management ...this role contains all the neceesary authorisation that a Portal Admin needs to execute most/all Portal admin activities.
Once you have finish setup, you can ask to remove the "Super Administration" role.
As a customer (myself), I give the necessary Admin role in Portal and/or J2EE authorisation on backend systems to our portal consultant with me next to him, so as a reasurring to the SAP security team and also to achieve needed knowledge transfer. Its a win-win situation.
If your customer does not want to give more authorisations...then the above mention roles/steps are to be follow..which at times, maybe afew steps instead of just 1.

Error in adding Function to the role

Hi Experts,
We are on AC-ERM 5.3_10_0. I was trying to create a test role in ERM. When adding a function to the role it's throwing the following error. Unknown error occurred while performing operation (Cannot assign a java.lang.String object of length 57 to host variable 2 which has JDBC type VARCHAR(50). in method insertOrgLvlsForRole).
Not able to find out, what's going wrong. Can anyone please guide me in resolving the error.

Thanks a lot. You are right. I am not facing this error in other functions. Only in for functions like PR91, PR01, HR02 I am getting this error. In fact, when I am adding the function it is showing the error, but when i am coming back to function TAB, I am finding the function has been added successfully. Can you please tell me how to rectify this error.

HOW MANY ROLES ARE ELGIBLE FOR THE USER

how many roles can we assign to the user... what is the maximum limit of the roles and profiles for the user.

Dear Srinivas,
About roles it's indeed not to easy to tell..just imagine the scenario:
1. Maximum number of profile is 312 ... (however due to some known bug system reads about 300). So, let's say 300 profile maximum can be assigned to an user
2. Now you can have single ABAP role which generally one-to-one to profile. So, this theory says if you are only assigning single ABAP roles, you can assign maximum 312 (or 300) roles.
3. But, you might also have Composite ABAP role. A composite ABAP role can have one or more Single/Composite ABAP role. So, one Composite ABAP role can correspond to any number of Profile which is determined by number of individual Single roles under than composite role. So, when you are assiging Composite ABAP role, you have to take care underlying number of profiles and make sure total does not exceed 312 (or 300 without note correction)
4. Now, last part of complication (and my favourite one). Sometimes, there is an empty Role which does not have any ABAP authorization assigned to it. But, this type of roles are used to map a authorization role in JAVA system. These roles does not have any Profile (as it does not have any ABAP authorization). Now, that brings my confusion ..What happens you assign 300 ABAP profiles via ABAP Roles and another 20 empty role for JAVA system without profile. You see my point

Setting the Roles in SAP

I am integrating SAP with IDM. I have developed a code to create the user in SAP and at the same time trying to set the roles and timezone to the user. There is no problem in creating the user object. But, Roles and timezones are not set in the user object.

Hi Srinivas,
"i want to add only one particular table not all tables", you can do this using a Custom Transaction Code, the following are the steps to do it:
1) goto se93, give a unique name, say zxxx
2)Enter SE16 into the transaction field and select the flag the skip initial screen field:
3)On the lower portion of the screen, enter the following information:
Name of screen field: DATABROWSE-TABLENAME
Value: Enter the name of the table you want to browse with
4)save it.
5) Now add the transaction zxxx in th role, and assign it to the user.
With this, when user executes the transaction, he/she will be able to see only the perticular table you added.
"in PFCG what is the use of Exper mode for profile generation. what is the difference between general profile generation and expert mode profile generation".
Expert mode has 3 options:
1) Delete and recreate profile and authorizations---This will completely delete the old profile and add only the new once.
2) Edit old status----It will edit the old values
3) Read old status and merge with new data----This will add the new values aithout actually disturbing the old ones.

CUP-Role Status regarding to the System

Hello,
I have been doing some test and I wonder how to distinguish when the role is ready at the diferent phisical system as Prod, Q, Dev.
When searching a role already imported from ERM, you can select three diferent role status ( only the third one is authomatic set from ERM after the import):
-Enable
-Disable
-Enable and provisioning
What does this role status mean? would it be useful for diferring from one phisical system to another?

Here is the explanation of the staus of role:
Enable u2013 roles you want to maintain but do not allow auto provisioning.
Enable and Provision u2013 roles you want to maintain and allow auto provisioning when selected by a user.
Disable u2013 roles that are disabled and are not displayed when the end user uses the Search feature to query for roles.
In normal circumstances, when you import roles from ERM to CUP you would only import those roles which have been generated into production and thus are ready for assigning to users. That is why roles imported from ERM have the status as Enable & Provision.

Server 2012 R2 Essentials Role: How to change the port numbers?

I've installed Server 2012 R2 on a Hyper-V guest, and then installed the Essentials Role on it. I've setup the role, and can access the dashboard. However the client I have has only one static IP - and Exchange/IIS running on the Hyper-V host. So the normal
ports for Access Anywhere won't work. I'd like to have the Access Anywhere respond on a different port - say 9999 for example. Then I can configure port forwarding on the router to pass it through, and have it working correctly as an SBS replacement. I messed
around with the bindings in IIS, but that didn't really solve the problem. I thought that would be it - but I suppose it's possible the service isn't meant to run on another port?
Has anyone had any luck in changing Access Anywhere to respond on a different port?

Is it possible to modify the tag structure tree and the role map via scripting?

We use unstructured FrameMaker to produce training materials which we distribute as tagged PDF to meet accessibility requirements.
When FrameMaker creates a tagged PDF, it does a fairly good job of populating the structure based on the PDF setup information for the paragraph formats in the FrameMaker documents. However, there are some limitations in the support that FrameMaker provides. For example, almost all paragraphs are assigned to the P role even if they are headings and should be mapped to H1-H6.
We want to be able to easily post-process a PDF that has been generated from FrameMaker to fix some of the tag structure issues (including tag names and the role map) so that the PDF will provide the optimum experience for a user of the JAWS screen reader.
I spent some time reading the SDK documentation but didn't find much information about manipulating a tagged PDF via the API, especially via scripting.
Does anyone have any examples or references which explain how to do it?

AFAIK, it's not possible with a script. You might want to ask in the SDK forum, as it could be possible with a plugin.

Roles not visible in the Catalog while requesting roles in OIM 11gr2

Hi Experts,
We have recently installed the OIM 11g r2 for a POC purpose and created few roles. The issue is we are unable to see the roles created while requesting the roles in catalog.
Already run the Catalog Synchronization Job and its scheduled to run in every 15 mins.

Also, which type of Role Category did you chose for the ones you created ? If you chose "OIM Roles" they won't appear in the catalog, any other Category (e.g. "Default") will be shown.
Try creating a new role with the "Default" category to test it; changing an OIM Role to another category won't work, it will still be hidden.

How to a ssign the iViews & Workset of the Role

Hello gurus,
Listed below are the procedures for organizing the reports within the Role:
a. Create a workset for each of these folders in the role
b. Assign the iViews/Pages currently present in the folders of the role to the newly created workset
c. Delete the folders from the role
d. Assign the worksets to the role
I've created a Workset to assign the iViews, how do I assign iViews to the new Workset?
And how do I assign the Workset to the Role?

- Open the Workset and then right click on the iView in the PCD and select "Add iView to Workset". Close the Workset.
- Open the Role and then right click on the Workset in the PCD and select "Add Workset to Role".
