WHAT IS USE OF CHANGE DOCUMENT FIELD?

HI experts,
go like this,
  mara->matnr->dataelement of matnr->further charecteristics ->change document
in this if we select change document field what will be occured , if we deselect   thatfield what will be the changes and where will be reflected that changes.
  thanks,

Hi,
It is used as an Indicator for writing change documents
<b>Use</b>
This flag is used to create change documents for business objects.
You can create a change document object for a business object. This change document object contains the tables in which the data of the business object is stored. Function modules that are called in the corresponding application programs and that log the changes at runtime can be generated from the change document object.
Logging only takes place if the fields whose contents were changed refer to a data element that was flagged as relevant for the change document.
You can go to the maintenance screen for change documents from the initial screen of the ABAP Workbench with Development -> Other tools -> Change documents.
Regards,
Padmam.

  • ALE: mapping IDoc fields to change document fields - TBD22 for ADRMAS iDoc

    Hi,
    I am currently try to find a table or way to extract the information of the TBD22 table (ALE: mapping IDoc fields to change document fields) for the iDocs/ Message Types:
    ADRMAS
    INTERNAL_ORDER
    PROJECT
    I am looking for a table that shows me to which SAP R/3 tables and fields the segments and fields of the above mentioned messages will be mapped to.
    When I add one of the above mentioned message types to the table TBD22 selection criteria I always receive the notification: "No table entries found for specific key".
    Could anybody determine Which table I have to use or why I cannot extract this information?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards

    Hi,
       Since we can not map the target IDOC when any of the field changes using nodefunctions , you can write UDF and check the same i.e if field1 changes or field2 changes or field3 changes then trigger new IDoc. This is one of the options that you can try...please try it once.

  • Using a change document for Z table maintenance generatro to log changes

    Hi Forum,
    I have created a a change document for one of the Z tables now I want to use it in the table maintenance generator of this table so that any changes made to this table using maintenance generator are logged in table CDHDR and CDPOS.
    I am using the event 02     After saving the data in the database
    and have created a new FORM..ENDFORM for this event and it is working fine till here.
    But I am unable to find any table or structure where the information of the action performed in maintenance generator is kept for eg. what action was performed like add, delete or change and on how many records and contents of those records.
    I can update the tables CDHDR and CDPOS only if I have the above information.
    Please guide me as to where can I find all this information within the maintenenace generator program?
    Thank you,
    Anubhav

    Hello Anubhav,
    Are you calling the change document function module in your save event ? The function module needs to be first created using SCDO for your Z table, select the fields on which you want to track the changes.  Auto generate the programs for this change object. Once the FM is generated, you will have to call this FM in your SM30 event.
    The change document tracking also needs to be enabled at the data element level..

    Jay

  • How to use change document object ?

    Friends,
    I am learning to use the Change Document object for one of my Z table. I have created a change doc object using SCDO. I have now written a test report in which i am issuing the SELECT statement for fetching old and new values from the Z table and passing them to the FM generated by SCDO.
    I am not able to see the changes in the CDHDR and CDPOS tables. I am doubtful abt the values being passed to the FM. Here are the values i am passing:
    CALL FUNCTION 'YTEST_WRITE_DOCUMENT'
      EXPORTING
        objectid                      = 'YTEST'
        tcode                         = 'se38'
        utime                         = sy-uzeit
        udate                         = sy-datum
        username                      = sy-uname
      PLANNED_CHANGE_NUMBER         = ' '
       OBJECT_CHANGE_INDICATOR        = 'U'
      PLANNED_OR_REAL_CHANGES       = ' '
      NO_CHANGE_POINTERS            = ' '
       UPD_ICDTXT_YTEST               = 'U'
        n_ztest_cle                   = wa_ztest_cle
        o_o_ztest_cle                 = o_ztest_cle
      UPD_ZTEST_CLE                 = ' '
      tables
        icdtxt_ytest                  = itab_cdtxt.
    Is the object ID the same as the Change Document Object name ??
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Well, i found a way out for the problem i was facing. I was not setting the "UPD_ZTEST_CLE " FM parameter. When i set it to 'U', the changes got reflected in the CDHDR and CDPOS tables.
    Can i reward myself as i solved this by myself ???

  • Change documents for a Z table

    Hi,
    We have a Ztable with 4 fields, Due to some business reasons.. . We have given access to users for changing the contents of the table. Now For audit purpose Customer wants to track the changes made to the table. I came know that this can be achieved by using the change documents concept. I am little confused in using this concept. After clicking on the generate update program, system will ask us to give an include name and functiona group. After giving these two system will create include object as <change document object>_write_document. This Include inturn calls some more includes like F<K4>CDC,F<K4>CDT,F<K4>CDF,F<K4>CDV.
    Here my questions are
    1. Wher do we need to write our owncoding for capturing the changes?
    2. is it possible to share the sample code starting from the First Include <changedocument>_Write_Document to ending.
    3. Does this change document functionality will be called automoatically when we use Transaction SM30(Table maintainance) for changing the contents of the tables?
    4. What is the difference between single case and Multiple case. My scenario falls into single/Multiple?
    Awaiiting for all the expert responses
    Thanks and Best Regards
    Jagadeesh Ambati

    Hi Srinivas,
    you can activate in DDIC that your entry changes will be logged.
    Go to SE11 -> Your Tablenname -> CHANGE
    Button TechnicalSettings -> Activate checkbox Log data changes.
    From now on any chenge will be logged in table DBTABLOG.
    Kind Regards

  • Change Document output

    Dear Experts,
    Am using the Change Document FM 'CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ' to fetch the changed fields in my application.
    The table is of structure CDRED and has F_OLD and F_NEW.
    I have to output only fields where the new value has changed from the Old value.
    Since both are of CHAR 254, for example, the amount field value is stored as 0.00 in the F_OLD and there is no value
    in the F_NEW generated by the FM.
    when i compare IF F_OLD ne F_NEW, still the record ouputs because F_OLD has 0.00 and F_NEW spaces.
    Also this is the issue with date values.
    MAJOR concern is the FM is outputting all record fields whose contents have not changed.
    I request if anyone can throw some light on this.
    Regards,
    Sampath

    They why dont you check if F_NEW is initial .
    This might be  a problem if the user changes the value to None I suppose

  • JEST table and status change document OPL8

    Hi Experts,
    1. I created a prod order and released it and saved. went to AUFK and got the object number to pass in JEST  table. System shows no values found.I was expecting a record for the same. do I need to do something to populate JEST table?
    2. In OPL8 under implementation tab, there is something called status change documents. do I need to configure OCM to use these change documents? if the answer is no, then what is the difference between these change documents and OCM change documents?
    thx in advance

    The settings in OPL8 will just determine if system should write the change logs of status to table tables CDHDR and CDPOS (for audit trail). Entries will appear here CO03 >> Header >> Status changes
    I think you opened up different windows of different boxes (DEV, QAS etc) and probably created in production order in DEV and checking status in QAS.

  • Regarding a Change Document Function Module ----- VERY VERY Urgent

    I am using a Change Document Function module "CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ". It is taking a long time.
    I am using the parameters:
    Start date is the first date of the current month
    Enddate as last date of the current month
    Object class as 'MATERIAL'
    Table Name as 'MBEW'

    Hi ,
    When you want to read the change documents, please follow the below process.
    1. Read the change documents headers with function modules
    call function 'CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HEADERS'
           exporting
                date_of_change             = cdhdr-udate
                objectclass                = cdhdr-objectclas
                objectid                   = cdhdr-objectid
                time_of_change             = '000000'
                username                   = cdhdr-username
           tables
                i_cdhdr                    = gt_cdhdr
           exceptions
                no_position_found          = 1
                wrong_access_to_archive    = 2
                time_zone_conversion_error = 3
                others                     = 4.
    2. From above step you will get data of change documents very quickly into Itab (gt_cdhdr)
    3. Read the details on change documents with functiion module by using Itab in loop for each document.
      loop at gt_cdhdr.
        call function 'CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS'
             exporting
                  changenumber            = gt_cdhdr-changenr
             importing
                  header                  = cdhdr
             tables
                  editpos                 = gt_cdshw
             exceptions
                  no_position_found       = 1
                  wrong_access_to_archive = 2
                  others                  = 3.
    Above is the best way to read the change documents.
    Rewards please if above info is useful.
    Thanks.

  • Track a field by using Change Documents

    Hello,
    Does anyone knows how to get the history changes of an Equipment Classification? (IE02 -> Click on Classification tab).
    We have a requirement that needs to fetch an equipment number based on a classification change. Everytime a value changes on a particular classification (TEST_ID) we need to populate the corresponding equipment number affected in this update.
    We are using "Change Documents" to track changes from the equipment master information but I have no idea how to track changes from the Classification information.
    Any ideas would be highly appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
    I assume it is quite easy but I don't get it.
    I have 2 tables ANTRAG and PERSON and I want to update
    UPDATE ANTRAG SET SysKD = (SELECT DISTINCT PERSON.SysPERSON FROM PERSON WHERE PERSON.SysVM = ANTRAG.SysVK AND PERSON.SysVM > 0) WHERE ANTRAG.SysLS IN (11,12);
    This delivers the error "subquery returns more than one row". I assume due to the fact that I have more than one record in ANTRAG which fullfills ANTRAG.SysLS IN (11,12).
    PERSON.SysVM > 0 is needed because there are records in PERSON and ANTRAG with PERSON.SysVM = 0 and ANTRAG.SysVK = 0 (but not where ANTRAG.SysLS is in 11 or 12, these have all ANTRAG.SysVK > 0).
    I have no clue how to get a single returnvalue out of the select statement.
    Thanks for help
    Regards
    CarstenIt means that your subquery is returning more than one row of data so it can't set SysKD to just a single value.
    That implies you have more than one distinct PERSON.sysPERSON value that matches the where clause.
    Without your data, we can't help you any more than that.

  • What is the use of change pointer concept in ale?

    what is the use of change pointer concept in ale?
    Edited by: Alvaro Tejada Galindo on Feb 6, 2008 5:10 PM

    ALE Architecture:
    It consists of an Outbound process, an Inbound process, and an Exception – Handling process.
    Outbound Process:
    ALE Outbound Process in SAP sends data to one or more SAP Systems. It involves four steps.
    1. Identify the need of IDoc: This step starts upon creating a application document, can relate to a change to a master data object.
    2. Generate the Master IDoc: The document or master data to be sent is read from the database and formatted into an IDoc format. This IDoc is called as a Master IDoc.
    3. Generate the Communication IDoc: The ALE Service layer generates a separate IDoc from the Master IDoc for each recipient who is interested in the data. Separate IDocs are generated because each recipient might demand a different version or a subset of the Master IDoc. These recipient-specific IDocs are called Communication IDocs and are stored in the database.
    4. Deliver the Communication IDoc: The IDoc is delivered to the recipients using an asynchronous communication method. This allows the sending system to continue its processing without having to wait for the destination system to receiver or process the IDoc.
    Inbound Process:
    The inbound process receives an IDoc and creates a document in the system.
    1. Store the IDoc in the database: The IDoc is received from the sending system and stored in the database. Then the IDoc goes through a basic integrity check and syntax check.
    2. Invoke the Posting Module: The control information in the IDoc and configuration tables are read to determine the posting program. The IDoc is then transferred to its posting program.
    3. Create the Document: The posting program reads the IDoc data and then creates a document in the system. The results are logged in the IDoc.
    Over view of IDocs:
    IDoc is a container that is used to exchange data between any two processes. The document represented in an IDoc is independent of the complex structure SAP uses to store application data. This type of flexibility enables SAP to rearrange its internal structure without affecting the existing interface.
    IDoc interface represents an IDoc Type or IDoc data. IDoc Type represents IDoc’s definition and IDoc Data is an instance of the IDoc Type.
    IDoc Types:
    IDoc type structure can consist of several segments, and each segment can consist of several data fields. The IDoc structure defines the syntax of the data by specifying a list of permitted segments and arrangement of the segments. Segments define a set of fields and their format.
    An IDoc is an instance of an IDoc Type and consists of three types of records.
    i. One Control record: each IDoc has only one control record. The control record contains all the control information about an IDoc, including the IDoc number, the sender and recipient information, and information such as the message type it represents and IDoc type. The control record structure is same for all IDocs.
    ii. One or Many Data records: An IDoc can have multiple data records, as defined by the IDoc structure. Segments translate into data records, which store application data, such as purchase order header information and purchase order detail lines.
    iii. One or Many Status records: An IDoc can have multiple status records. Status record helps to determine whether an IDoc has any error.
    Message in IDoc Type:
    A Message represents a specific type of document transmitted between two partners.
    Outbound Process in IDocs:
    Outbound process used the following components to generate an IDoc. A customer model, and IDoc structure, selection programs, filter objects, conversion rules, a port definition, an RFC destination, a partner profile, service programs, and configuration tables.
    The Customer Model:
    A customer model is used to model a distribution scenario. In a customer model, you identify the systems involved in a distribution scenario and the message exchanged between the systems.
    Message control:
    Message control is a cross application technology used in pricing, account determination, material determination, and output determination. The output determination technique of Message control triggers the ALE for a business document. Message control separates the logic of generating IDocs from the application logic.
    Change Pointers:
    The change pointers technique is based on the change document technique, which tracks changes made to key documents in SAP, such as the material master, customer master and sales order.
    Changes made to a document are recorded in the change document header table CDHDR, and additional change pointers are written in the BDCP table for the changes relevant to ALE.
    IDoc Structure:
    A message is defined for data that is exchanged between two systems. The message type is based on one or more IDoc structures.
    Selection Program:
    Is typically implemented as function modules, are designed to extract application data and create a master IDoc. A selection program exists for each message type. A selection program’s design depends on the triggering mechanism used in the process.
    Filter Objects;
    Filter Objects remove unwanted data for each recipient of the data basing on the recipients requirement.
    Port Definition:
    A port is used in an outbound process to define the medium in which documents are transferred to the destination system. ALE used a Transactional RFC port, which transfers data in memory buffers.
    RFC Destination:
    The RFC destination is a logical name used to define the characteristics of a communication link to a remote system on which a function needs to be executed.
    Partner Profile:
    A partner profile specifies the components used in an outbound process(logical name of the remote SAP system, IDoc Type, message type, TRFC port), an IDoc’s packet size, the mode in which the process sends an IDoc (batch versus immediate), and the person to be notified in case of error.
    Service Programs and Configuration Tables:
    The outbound process, being asynchronous, is essentially a sequence of several processes that work together. SAP provides service programs and configuration tables to link these programs and provide customizing options for an outbound process.
    Creation of IDoc:
    Basic Type:
    Basic IDoc type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.
    Segments:
    Segments form the basic building blocks of an IDoc type and are used to store the actual datta. A segment type is the name of a segment and is independent of the SAP elease. A segment definition is the release-specific name of a segment.
    Steps in creating Segments:
    T.Code WE31
    Enter the name for your segment type and click on the create icon.
    Type the Short text.
    Enter the variable names and data elements.
    Save and Go back.
    Go to Edit -> Set Release.
    Repeat the steps to create more segments.
    IDOC TYPE:
    Business data is exchanged with an external system using the IDoc Interface.
    IDoc types (Special Structures) An IDoc type is defined through its permitted segments. Segments can be dependent on each other (parent and child segments). The IDoc interface can check for each IDoc whether thhe segments contained are compatible with thhe definitiion of its type. This systax check is activated or deactivated in the Partner Profiles.
    Steps in creating IDoc Type:
    T.Code WE30 to create IDoc Type.
    Enter the Object Name, Select Basic Type and click Create Icon
    Select the create new option and enter a description for your basic IDOC type and press enter
    Select the IDoc name and click Create icon
    The system prompts us to enter a segment type and its attributes
    Choose the appropriate values and press enter
    The system transfers the name of the segment type to the IDoc editor.
    Follow these steps to add more number of segments to Parent or as Parent-child relation.
    Save it and go back.
    Go to Edit -> Set Release.
    Message Type:
    Steps in Creating Message Type:
    T.Code WE81.
    change the details from Display mode to Change mode
    After selection, the system will give this message "The table is cross client (See help for further info)". Press enter.
    Click New Entries to create new Message Type.
    Fill details
    Save it and go back.
    Assign Message Type to IDoc Type:
    T.Code WE82
    Change the details from Display mode to change mode.
    After selection, the system will give this message "The table is cross client (See help for further info)". Press enter.
    Click New Entries to create new Message Type.
    Fill details
    Save it and go back.

    When I create a New Folder (on the desktop or in Finder), the system uses the Generic Document Icon instead of the Generic Folder Icon. How can I change this back?
    All of a sudden I noticed that most of the folders on my computer were no longer using the folder icon, but the generic document icon. I had to manually change back the icon being used by opening Get Info for each folder and copying and pasting the generic folder icon from some folders that remained unchanged. Now whenever I create a New Folder (right click -> "New Folder"), the icon that shows up is the generic document icon (white page with top right corner turned down). And I have to manually change it so it shows up as a folder in Finder or on my desktop. I don't know why or how this switch happened. All of the folders now on my computer look ok, but I need to change the default so when I create a New Folder it uses the correct icon.
    I have also Forced Relaunch of my Finder and rebooted the system. I downloaded Candybar but am not sure what will fix anything, so I haven't proceeded.
    Anyone know how I can do this? Thanks.

  • Problem with Change Document FM  - Not all fields are tracked in CDPOS

    Hello everybody,
    Using transaction SCDO and following necessary steps described in forum, I have created a change document ZFBR to track changes of a table ZFBR. The problem is, the generated FM ZFBR_WRITE_DOCUMENT does not track changes of some fields of the table (inserts are always ok, problem is with updates). After some debugging I realized that the FM DDIF_NAMETAB_GET was returning the table DFIES_TAB where the LOGFLAG was empty for some fields (which are not tracked) so that changes of these fields were not visible in table CDPOS. However, fields with LOGFLAG = 'X' are tracked succesfully (changes are visible in table CDPOS).
    I did not specify any fields to be get logged or not during the steps in SCDO (can we do such a specification anywhere?), does anyone know why the field LOGFLAG has the value '' (space)?
    Best regards;
    Ozcan.

    Hi again,
    The problem has been solved.
    The data elements used in a table are the reason for the problem I have described above. When displaying the details of a data element, under tab "Further Characteristics" , the "Change Document" checkbox has to be selected to enable change document tracking. I have copied the problematic data elements with Z prefix and made the necessary enabling. I have replaced the data elements with their Z equivalents.
    Best regards.
    Ozcan.

  • Change Pointers - adding a new field to existing Change Document

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to capture the changes made to the Material object through the transaction C223. The changes to field MKAL-PRFG_F have to be captured.
    There is an exisitng Change Document Object - MATERIAL. This is included in Message Type MATMAS. These are the steps we have done:
    1. In SCDO - added the Z structure to the Change Document Object - Material. [Z structure contains the field MKAL-PRFG_F. Change pointer option is checked for this Data element.
    2. Created a Z Message Type with reference as MATMAS.
    3. In BD52 - we have listed the fields for the new Z Message Type created.
    4. The Change Pointers - reactivated after the steps are done.
    The changes to the field MKAL-PRFG_F through C223 Tcode are not recorded in BDCPV table.
    Have we missed any steps here?
    Thanks,
    Pallavi

    HI,
    I don't think a new zmessage type is required in this case.. is the structure added to MARA table??The change document programs are there which triggers the iodcs... In SCDO transaction code , click on generation info for MATERIAL.. You will find the includes. The FM MATERIAL_WRITE_DOCUMENT creates entries in CDHDR and CDPOS, if we maintain entries in BD52 , the entries wil be written in BDCP and BDCPS tables.
    Try to add your structure in MARA table as append strucre and then you can debug the IDOC from WE19 and use the FM "MASTERIDOC_CREATE_SMD_MATMAS" and then you also need to switch on Update Debugging on, to debug the changes in update FM   MATERIAL_WRITE_DOCUMENT.
    Please see if the change is reflected or not....
    ELSE.
    may be you need to create a new entry in SCDO and do all the ALE configurations for change pointers.
    Please find the link for change pointers and also you can get lot of information on change pointers in SCN.

    Hi all,
    I am trying to trigger a workflow using change document object.
    I want that to trigger the workflow on the material master change through MM02.
    I have created  a business object ZBUS1001 and wanted that on change of material master
    the custom change document object should call the workflow
    I went through all the material avaialable over SDN ,but can not find a change object for change in material master through MM02  for std business object  BUS1001.
    Please tell me how to find one.
    Please reply if any one of you have some solution.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I am using an existing change object - MATERIAL_N of Business Object - BUS1001 and the event
    BASICMATERIALCHANGED.
    I have mentioned  the details in the tcode SWEC.
    And even in the workflow i have given the start of event  as the BUS1001 and event BASICMATERIALCHANGED.
    But workflow not called .
    Do we need to maintain an entry in SWED?
    If yes then in function module column what we need to mention.
