What is Variant?

Hi,
   I have one problem to understand that what is variant? I used T-Code suim. in that T-Code we see all the information about Users,Roles,Profiles and so on. Here in User, there is one option 'With Critical Authorization'. I can't understand this topic. Please help me.

Variants allow you to save sets of input values for programs that you often start with the same selections. You can use them for any programs
Whenever you start a program in which selection screens are defined, the system displays a set of input fields for database-specific and program-specific selections. To select a certain set of data, you enter an appropriate range of values.

Critical Authaurizations (SUIM)
using this you can find out the users and profiles which have critical combinations like FICO guys should not have authrisations of MM , PP so you can define the set of critical combination and if someone have given autharization to both person . then you can find that here .... this information can be used for Audit purpose as welll ,,,

    REPORT ZTEST,
    PARAMETERS:  PROC(80) TYPE C.
    I can test this PORGRAM from SE38, it shows me a pop-up screen for PROC and I can enter a value and execute.
    Now I want to call this  program ZTEST from a process chain. In Process Chain Selected a Process u201CABAP Programu201D. It asks me program name and Program variant, I entered Program Name as ZTEST and
    Program variant as a character string HELLO.
    When I execute Porcess Chain, ABAP Program errors saying that variant HELLO not found.
    What is Program variant in ABAP Program Process in Process Chain?

    Dont get confused here.
    Variant name is not which you are pasing to the program.
    You enter some values inside the variant and you specify the program to take the input from the variant.
    Suppose you have to pass 10 parameters to a program.
    user1 creates a variant " hello1" which contains his own selection for the 10 values
    user2 creates another variant "hello2" which contain his own set of selecion values.
    When we use this program in PC, you can use the variant user1 or user2 as per our requirement.
    please check if you are giving variant as input or the proc value.

  • What does varying battery led lights indicate ??

    I own a hp probook 4530s.The battery led just above the plug in in the laptopp sometimes lights up in orange colour and sometimes its white in colour ?? is this a hardware fault or does it symbolically explains something??

    On my laptops (Thinkpad 365 up to X61s) the battery- and charging- (plug-symbol) leds always are on as long the power supply is connected.
    Both should turn off after unplug the power supply.
    Is there set a threshold in the power manager?  At which value ends increasing the charge state in the gauge?
    What charge status will be shown in the powermanager on the battery-tab? Please  upload a screenshot of the battery-tab to www.imageshack.us and link it here.

    That did the trick, once I figured out the missing step. For other folks interested, to use an .acv file to adjust a curve:
    Open the Curves Adjustment Panel > Panel Options drop-down menu > Load Curves Preset... > find & select the .acv file (on hard drive) in the "LOAD" window > click LOAD. The adjustment in the .acv file will be applied to the image and appear in the curves graph of the Curves Adjustment Panel. Slick.
    Apparently, moving the .acv file to the "Curves" folder in the "Presets" folder allows this curve adjustment to be a permanent preset choice. It can then be found under the Curves Panel preset drop-down menu. Just look for the original .acv file's name in the list.

    Variant data do not conform to a specific data type and can contain attributes. LabVIEW represents variant data with the variant data type. The variant data type differs from other data types because it stores the control or indicator name, information about the data type from which you converted, and the data itself, which allows LabVIEW to correctly convert the variant data type to the data type you want.
    Use the Variant functions to create and manipulate variant data. You can convert flattened data and LabVIEW data to variant data and convert variant data to LabVIEW data.
    The variant data type allows you to store attributes of the data. An attribute is information about the data that you define and the variant data type stores. For example, if you want to know the time when a piece of data was created, you can store the data as variant data and add an attribute called Time to store the time string. The attribute data can be of any type. You also can delete or retrieve attributes from variant data.

    In this step you dan define the following settings for variant tables:
    Possible statuses for tables
    Groups to use as search criteria
    Maintain Statuses
    In this step you can check the statuses for variant tables.
    The standard system provides the following statuses:
    Status Description Effect
    0 In prep. Maintenance of table entries and use in
      dependencies not released
    1 Released Maintenance of table entries and use in
      dependencies released
    2 Locked Maintenance of table entries and use in
      dependencies not released
    Activity
    You can change the effect of the statuses and the description
    Maintain Groups
    In this step, you can define groups for variant tables. You can then use the groups as search criteria to find variant tables.
    You can enter a group for a table on the basic data screen of the table structure.
    Example
    You create group TEST to group together all variant tables that you create for test purposes. You can use the search functions to find all variant tables in group TEST.
    Recommendation
    You can use groups in the productive system to group together all tables that belong to the knowledge base of a configurable material.
    Activities
    Create groups according to your requirements.

    hi the programs which uses the varients are called varient programs......means---suppose the selection screen had 3 fields..matnr meins matrt ..
    suppose if you want to test the program with 2 different values ...then we use the varients...
    suppose :varient1
    matnr 1000 to 3000
    meins EA
    mtart  FULL PRODUCT
    suppose :varient2
    matnr 5640 to 6572
    meins EA
    mtart  FINISHED PRODUCT
    fill all the values and save the selection screen it will creates the varient...

  • ActiveX Variant in Invoke Node?

    I'm trying to do some stuff with a Word document through ActiveX in LabVIEW. This is mostly going well, but I am unsure of what the variant options are on the invoke nodes. I have included a picture with the variants on the invoke node circled. Where are these variants documented? What kind of data/type needs to be in the variant to use these options?
