What on earth is going on !!!

2nd day of loss of channels and still havent been given a reason. 1st advisor said factory settings..that didnt work. 2nd advisor said the same..again didnt work..then he said it was my arial..no it isnt. 3rd advisor said channel scan..again didnt work, also said software out of date, will have to wait until 12th Nov when it,ll be updated... just a few mins ago an update came through and its completed all except for the channel scan which isnt finding anything and it wont let me leave the page, Ive switched it all off and back on again but nothing....what is Talk Talk charging just now ?

I'm sorry for the trouble you've been having with your BT Vision service.
The issues you are experiencing are not linked. Freeview relates to the signal coming through the aerial and VOD relies on the broadband connection.
For the freeview issue, could you please try the aerial in a freeview TV to see if you can get a signal through that, if not then there may be an issue with the aerial cable or the aerial itself. If you can then put the aerial back into RF IN and rescan for channels.
For the VOD issue, ensuring your broadband connection is working, please check connectivity from the Vision box to your home hub, if powerlines are in use then it may be that they have lost connection to each other. Ensure they are connected direct to mains sockets as they do not hold connection too well in extensions and simply press something sharp into the reset hole in the top of both adapters for 2 seconds, it will click and the lights will go out and come back on. This needs to be done on both adapters within 3 minutes. Once done, reboot the vision box and retest.

    I have a Mac OS X 10.4.11 Power PC running Firefox 3.6.11, and every time I try to access a secure site that I have accessed many, many times before and even TaxAct last year, the images do not load nor do the links on the page work. The bank and credit card pages constantly come up with the "Security" issue, & even when I try to "accept" the exception it will not allow me to even though everything in the "details" section is fine. I have no idea what on earth is going on, I have literally tried everything you have suggested without any success. I don't know what else to do. Can anyone please help me?

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • What on earth is going on with my connection?!

    So, Infinity installed and activated on Tuesday (18/10). OR Engineer informed me I was the first to have infinity installed on the Peterborough Central (01733) exchange so whether this has contributed to the problems I am experiencing and about to enlighten you with I do not know but anyway..........
    Day 1 - Installation went a treat. Engineer arrived at 2pm and was gone within the hour. Took my first BT Speedtester test @ 4pm and results were as follows:

    Internet was used up to around 11pm without any problems before I called it a night.

Thought nothing of it, went to work, came home around 7pm, turned on PC, opened IE9 and same again. Could not browse one single page. Phoned BT India, explained all the lights on my HH3/modem were working as they should and both my PC and Hub manager confirmed I was connected to the Internet. We proceeded to reset IE9, done a factory reset on the HH3, even tried my laptop (both wired and wirelsss) to see whether I could browse any pages but none of this worked. India said they would do further checks that night and call me back by 9.30pm. They never did, I accepted defeat and went to bed.
    Day 3 - Woke up around 4am, decided to try IE9 and heaven above, I was able to browse the internet again! Went back to bed, got up, went to work, came home in the evening, turned on PC, opened IE9 and again all was great!!  BT Speedtester tests taken that day were as follows:

Because of this, the OR did not conduct any further checks, said 'if it ain't broken don't fix it' and left! All seemed good until 3.30pm when pages were again becoming painfully slow. I again phoned India who said they'll send another engineer out to me in the morning.  Anyhow, this continued until 11.30pm (40 mins ago as I write this) when everything started to work as it should again!?! BT Speedtester tests taken today were as follows (I could not take any other tests in between as the internet was simply too slow to cope):

I know it's not the PC, I don't believe it's the equipment (hardware or software).  It's like someone turns a switch on and off as and when they'd like my broadband to work?! I have practically sat at the PC for 8 straight hours trying to load pages to no avail (or at least taking far too long to load) then suddenly out of nowhere, it starts to work as normal again?!
    If it's working in the morning when the engineer arrives what's he going to do? Absolutely nothing! I don't need to be Einstein to know that come the afternoon it'll go down again!
    Has any of you ever experienced anything like this?  Please say you have and if so how on earth did you rectify it (assuming you have)?!
    Any advice/help would be gratefully received.

    Really pleased to hear that mate, even if it isn't really the outcome you wanted.
    Of course it could well be either the HH3, hub or both. Personally, I don't think it is as like I mentioned in my opening post, it's like somebody switches a button on and off as and when they want me to use broadband. Take yesterday for example, from 8.30am-3.30pm the internet was working perfectly. From 3.30pm-11.30pm, I struggled to do any browsing as pages were that slow. From 11.30pm onwards and as I write this at 7.30am, it's working perfectly again.  And I bet you now at some stage this afternoon, it will practically come to a complete standstill again.
    Engineer arriving between 8am-1pm but if it all looks good, what can he do?! I need them to be here when it's not working properly. Given I'm in the 10 day training period, I've tried to use the internet as much as possible as suggested. Perhaps in my case this is having a reverse effect and slowing me down or throttling me instead?!  It has to be something between the exchange and cabinet or a fault at both as the only things that have changed my end are 1. The face plate to the master socket, 2. the HH3, 3. the modem and 4. the cables attached to both and given one minute my broadbans is fine and the next it practically stalls, I think the issue rules out any hardware/software fault.
    But maybe chasing this equipment is worth a try?

  • OMG! ..what on Earth is going on with Version?

    OMG!!! ...I've never experienced anything like this in my 49 yrs dealing with customer service.
    I will try and make this as quick and least painful to read.
    First, I'm a recently returning customer after leaving Verizon for over ten years.
    My wife works from home so I needed the caller ID to reflect her name not mine so she called to have it changed. What Verizon did was cut my services for a full day to transfer the account to her name. Why they had to go this route to simply change the caller ID name is beyond me. Anyway, we got our services back and were happy to put that frustration behind us.
    Little did I know this was just the start of the worst business dealing with a service provider in my life. Apparently there was a small balance of $51.43 left in the old account. I paid that balance in full. However, that balance was transferred to my new account despite it being paid.
    Guess what? ...they cut my services because of that same $51.43. Okay, at this point I'm a little angry but sure that once I point out the billing error this problem would go away. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with billing they told me they transffered the paid balance from the old account to the new account and all should be good.
    Guess what? ...they cut my services again because of the same $51.43. (right in the middle of watching a Verizon rented movie) At this point, I'm beyond a little frustrated . I had to pay the same $51.43 to get my services restored until I could call during business hours. After another 45 minutes on the phone with billing, they refunded my $51.43 and assured me this issue would go away.
    Guess what? ...they add the same $51.43 back on to my bill and start sending me past due notices.
    At this point, I'm ready to through in the towel and switch services. I contacted billing again and asked to speak to a supervisor. After being on hold for 20 minutes, I spoke to a supervisor named Ashley. She was very nasty and did not care two cents about my issues and said I needed to speak to the accounting department. She put me back on hold and when I got to the accounting department she said I had to resolve the issue with the billing department. Are you kidding me???
    When I refused to be transferred back to billing she said that she would have her supervisor contact me. I'm not holding my breath that they will call me back. 
    What am I to do? Will this issue ever go away? How can a service provider be so horrible to deal with, and why can't they fix such a simple error?
    I have recorded every single phone conversation with customer service. If they don't get back with me and resolve this issue once and for all I will be switching services.
    Again ...OMG!!! ...what on Earth is going on with Verison and their customer service?

Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under “My Support Cases” you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information.   • Grrrrr..... What on earth is going on with the quicktime convert to mp4?

    What on earth is going on with MP4 / quicktime?
    To convert an avi. file to mp4 is taking as long as it takes to watch the entire movie!
    I am converting a movie from avi. over to mp4 using the ($44) upgrade facility on quicktime and it is taking the length of the entire movie to convert it over?
    Any ideas?

  • What on earth is going on with my beat mapping (7.1.1)!?!?!?!

    Dear all,
    I have used beatmapping before with no problems. I have just upgraded to OSX.4 and not it isn't working...
    I have some drums that I have had to chop up and things. So, I start the beatmapping with the hihat as it's being used as a count-in for the song which is to stay in the mix. I get the mapping right and then move on to the next region...
    I get all of the hihats done for the intro, play back with the metronome to make sure everything's hunky dory, and something has happened. My regions are no longer in line with eachother, and indeed some have ben copied!
    Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have also run in to a bug - whenever I try and move tracks around on the arrange (I want to put the hats on to whilst mapping them so I can see all the transients as well as what Logic is telling me), and Logic crashes...
    Grr. Is this 10.4.3, or is this just wierdness?
    Any help would be much appreciated,

    You can be ticked off all you want, that's your perogative. But whether you paid for the iPad or it was a gift, if you don't want to own a useless brick of a device, you might want to give restoring the iOS software a try.

  • What on earth is going on with iTunes Match as of late?

    For the past 30 days or so i have had one nightmare after another with match. Taking hours for uploads, tracks not matching, now today i cant even log into the service without getting the "we could not complete your itunes store request" error. Is there something behind the scenes going on we don't know about?

    Me too. iTunes Radio was working fine earlier today, but, stopped working about an hour ago. Now I get the "could not complete your request" error message. Streaming music from the cloud is also very erratic, the music stutters a lot.

    I'm having the same problem. I have reinstalled both iTunes and Quicktime and iTunes still won't run. When I go into Quicktime and click on the Audio Tab I get the following:
    Buffer Overrun Detected
    C:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe
    A buffer overrun has been detectd which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.
    Any idea on how to fix this problem?

  • N85-1 WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG?!

    I bought an N85-1, I am in USA on ATT 3G network.
    N85 from Dubai, all brand new.
    Phone works, but I can only hear connected calls when I use:
    1. Bluetooth
    2. Wired Headphone
    3. Loudspeaker (Speakerphone)
    I CANT HEAR CALLS FROM THE HEADSET! WHAT IS WRONG.
    So I returned it and was shipped a N85 from Hong Kong
    So I turn it on, and it seems to work, I reset to factory, and BAM again I can't hear calls unless I switch to 1, 2, or 3.
    What is going on here, I would consider it being the fact I am on ATT and att doesnt have GSM 900, but I am connected on GSM 1900 and I can still hear the calls on other speaker methods, so the phone works, minus the headset speaker.
    I cant imagine 2 Phones from different regions BOTH, having the same fault. What ON EARTH AM I DOING WRONG. Is their a setting I am missing, when I enable the factory reset?

    Headset soundlevel? If it is that orange bar the orange bar is all the way up.
    I also checked to make sure the Headset is "Default"

  • I am home sharing songs from my computer (library) to another authorized computer (library), the songs will import, but once i sync the iphone (4s) to this computer the songs are shaded and will not import onto the iphone, what the heck is going on?

    I am transfering songs from one computer to another using home share.  Both machines are authorized in home sharing.  The songs import from (my) windows computer to the other (my wifes) authorized MacBook Pro, computer just fine.  Once the songs are in the library and i try to sync her Iphone (4s) to her computer the songs ar greyed out and i can't play them nor see them under iPhone after sync is complete.  What the heck is going on?  BTW, the songs that i have imported are either songs i burned from a CD or songs i have purchased from the iTunes store, so they should sync no problem!?  Help please.

  • CS6 has been converted from the upgrade I bought to a trial version.  What the heck is going on.

    I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 for my IMac.  I downloaded CS6 and out in my serial number and it worked fine for a number of weeks.  Suddenly when I went to use it it said it was a trial version.  I had to register it to use my CS6   I registered it and it worked,  but only as a Trial Version of CS6 Extended. I do not want CS6 Extended.  I deleted the trial version of CS6 Extended from my hard drive and once again downloaded my upgrade of CS6 and put in my serial number and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. Today, once again, it tells me it is a trial version and will not load unless I register the trial version. What the heck is going on? This is crazy.  I simply want to use CS6, for which I paid. Help!

    Its a bug that came with the latest update. The developers know about it and will fix it as soon as they get back from christmas vacation. Lots of us (inluding some of the developers) are suffering the same problem.

    Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

    Sucks, don't it?  It's a not helpful error message.
    Sadly, rebooting your Mac often is required to get work done in Pr these days.  You could also try deleting your prefs, and searching for and quarantining corrupt media.
    I believe corrupt media or corrupt projects are the major source of crashes on the Mac side.
    And since you're on a Mac, run Disk Warrior and Repair Permissions after all OS upgrades and software installs.
    And when you're editing, set your Auto-Save frequency to a short interval, and increase the number of saved projects to 100 or so (I have mine set to 1000.), OR Increment and Save As often.  This might save you from losing entire projects to project file corruption, as has happened to me.  I have a thread similar to yours now because Pr won't open projects that have been corrupted.  I learned about multiple versions the hard way.

    Now, no CC program will run owing to something called 'Activation problem 194:100'.
    Yes, I have logged out. Yes, I have rebooted. Yes, I have deactivated 'more than 2 machines'. Why should I have to repeatedly click to 'deactivate 2 previous activations' when there has NEVER been more than one activation?
    Adobe not only make me look a laughing stock in the classroom but this constant issue that has been going on for weeks now subliminally tells students Adobe software is useless!
    When will I be able to use CC again? I am paying for it remember!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Welcome to Adobe Forum.
    CC has only EVER been activated on ONE PC.
    If you look at http://forums.adobe.com/message/6198690#6198690 you'll see (like many other users) I have to constantly sign in and reactivate. It is probably this that is causing the multiple activations.
    However, to reiterate, CC is only running on ONE computer. It has not at any time been activated on more than the same PC. One activation - one PC.
    So, the suggestion of waiting a few hours (if the prog won't activate / run) is less than adequate. Like everyone else, I pay to have it running 24 hours a day - every day.
