What's causing my titles created in CS4 not to show in th exported video done by encore?

It appears that the titles that I've created and can see in Premiere CS4 aren't being exported to encore with the rest of to video. What's causing this to happen?

the project was orignally created on another computer; would the arwork for the titles be stored on the original computer?
I've had situations where graphics embedded into a title didn't show up because the graphics were not where Premiere thought they should be, either because they moved or because they existed on another computer. But in those situations, the graphics did NOT show up in Premiere, and I knew to fix the problem before export.
Still, it's worth exploring the option of deleting those graphics from the title and redoing them once you have them on your hard drive.

Actionscript created in CS4 not Working in CS5.5 Trial?

I have an interview coming up and decieded to improve some older works to present. The files I am using were created using my schools computers and CS4 Flash and actionscript 3. However, since I do not have a copy of Flash myself, I downloaded the trial of CS5.5 to work with, but the first file I started editing (a simple game where I was going to fix an audio loop) is no longer working as I had previous left it.
The main error I notice is my score counter which is meant to update every frame by 1, but currently I've been seeing it go from 0 to 4 to blank and then resetting.
I did not edit this file since I submitted it, but there are a few errors happening when I run it using CS5.5 Flash. I have my older swf file on my laptops desktop and it runs perfectly. Is this a common occurance with bringing CS4 files into CS5 and CS5.5?
Is there any other information I can give to help?

I've posted to this forum before with questions related to code but no one could help me unless I posted at least the pertinent snippets of code, if not the entire code, so they could see and troubleshoot. If your code is all located on frame 1 and is not too long it would be a good idea to post it to see if other viewers of this post can help.

soon as you start up the computer, keep hitting the F1 key. That should get you into the BIOS.
Also, try disabling Active System Protection for your freezing issues. I'm using XP so I don't know where to tell you to find it in Vista.

What are causes of port lockups ?

We are using Unity 4.0.3 and one port has been busy for more than 48 hours. Resetting from the ADmin page didn't help so we rebooted the CU box and it reset the port.
Question is what could have casued the port to lock up / get busy in a long time ? Please advise.

I'd love to give you a definitive list of what can cause a port to lockup but the answer is probably one that you don't to hear but, nonetheless, it is an honest answer. Port lockups can be caused by ALL kinds of issues...TSP errors, TSP mismatches between Unity and CUCM (compatibility issues), software/service hang-ups, codecs, network connectivity blips, software bugs, the list goes on. Other old things that come to mind is issues with the use of speed control during message playback, a SCCP bug that would cause Unity to think a port was in use but CUCM would release the call as per protocol, and so on. In older versions of Unity such as 4x, issues with TSP are not uncommon at all. Technically, a port is considered "locked" if it's been stuck in a non-idle state for more than 1 hour.

Exporting Videos in Premier Pro CS4

hey all!
When I go to export my finished video it asks to set all the properties like the codec and its details, res and all that jazz - I was wondering, is it not possible to have the exported video use the exact same properties as the original? It seems like I HAVE to re-encode it...
I dont want to risk losing any video or sound quality so why do I have to change the videos codec? Is there no way of just using the source video properties?

One thing to consider with Export, is what do you plan on doing with the resulting file?
If, for instance, you need to get the Exported material onto an iPod, you would work within the restrictions of that medium, and set your Export to match that. If you are going to BD (Blu-ray Disc), you would work within the specs. of that medium - and so on, and so on.
What is your intended delivery medium?
If it is to exactly (as close as you can) your source footage, except with the edits and additions, then sticking with the same format/CODEC and size settings will get you what you need.
Let your needs dictate your Export settings. Remember, you can Export to many different settings, so you will not have to do any conversions, of the original Export.

Photoshop CS4 for Mac What can cause the error: Plug-in failed to load - NO VERSION

With Photoshop CS4 for Mac I install the Kodak Plug-in DIGITAL GEM Airbrush Professional v2.1.0. When Photoshop starts I get an error:

This plug-in works fine on my Mac Pro with Photoshop CS4 and OS 10.6 but fails on a new Macbook Air.
Reinstalling the plug-in did not make any difference. What can cause this error?

Thanks Chris, That was my first thought too but this same plug-in works on another installation of CS4. This is a Mac installation and the plug-in is Universal so it should work. Is there any other possible cause for this error? Would Photoshop refuse to load a plug-in in a low memory situation?
Also, The Flash extensions:Connections and Kuler are working OK, I just copied a little more out of the System Info report than I needed to.

HT1338 Videos created in iMovie and also played in iMovie occasionally have white steaks. There doesn't seem to be a conflict in fps. Any idea what is causing the flickers?

Videos played and produced in IMovie have white streaks, like flickers sporatically throughout. I don't think there's a conflict with fps. The videos imported do not have the streaks, it's only after they have been imported into IMovie. Any idea what is causing this?

Right now I want to point out where I do not agree especially with SG's "The text can only be one line long" when it comes to the Premiere Elements Titler Text Animation Feature. Not so.

What is causing distorted clips when creating a DVD

I'm creating a new thread because the solution has still not been found. I cut the length of IM 08 to under 115 minutes & imported new copies of the affected clips into the project but there are still the same 3 clips that look like someone is censoring them. I do not know how to deinterlace the video or what JES & FCP mean, which were previously suggested. The video is absolutely fine when I run it with QT. What else can I do? Thanks

There are limitations on the kind of help we can give via a message board like this. We only know what you tell us and can only slowly lead you through a question/answer cycle. Often the process is successful, but sometimes it isn't.
What is the source of your video and what encoding is used. (Open the movie in Quicktime and do a Window>Show movie inspector. (The words may be different with the Quicktime X player.) What video and audio format information is shown?
I still don't know what you are seeing when you say "clips that look like someone is censoring them". In your other posting you said "For some reason, in various spots the picture starts disintegrating like the censor blocking body parts on TV only at various spots of a picture and various points of the movie." That, to ME, sounds like a media or burner issue.

What might cause CTI to leave black vertical lines in timeline (CS4)?

I'm relatively new with Premiere Pro CS 4.
For some reason, whenever I click on the CTI, or move it around the timeline, it leaves a trail of black verticle lines.
Sometimes these black lines totally prevent me from seeing anything on the timeline.
This just started yesterday. Up until that, everything was fine.
Any idea what is causing this?
I must have clicked on some tool or setting. But I can not get rid of it.
Even closing Premiere and turning it back on does not help. Neither does changing projects.

OK, I found the solution in one of the forums after searching for ~ "timeline disapearing."
Apparently, if you open up FireFox while using Premiere or before using Premiere, it causes the timeline to behave oddly. Basically, the time line starts to turn black as if it is not getting refreshed.
The work around is to reboot, and NOT use Firefox at all. Bummer. I could not find a real fix.
Even if you reboot and then open and close Firefox, Premiere's timeline will have this problem.
But if you reboot and use Premiere, it's OK, until you open Firefox.
The thread says this also happens with ZoneAlarm and Premiere but I could not confirm that problem.

What might cause this cross version, & cross platform inability to edit PDF?

Basic info: Our office is PC based using WIndows XP and Acrobat Pro 7.0 and I have created a simple PDF that is totally unrestricted to a book publisher. Latter is MAC based using X Pro and is able to open and move around our PDF, but is unable to use highlighter, comments, edit, etc. Publisher works with PDF files alot and claims that they have never had problems with any other submissions. The only "unusual" think I did in creating the PDF of a simple word doc is that in Acrobat Pro 7 I changed Initial View tab that File Title should display rather than the default file name; and in Properties filled in Title and Author fields. My hunch is that this simple change might be causing the symptoms being experienced.
While I am primarily looking for a solution, without trying to determine the cause it seems tougher to find solution other than trial-and-error.
Details: PDF does NOT have any interactive features and is 99% text with a few inserted JPG images. I realize in writing this there is another perhaps unusual aspect. Namely, we are still using MS Word 2003, AND we always make a copy of normal.dot, rename this to book_title.dot and have the word doc file for the book use that _____.dot so that in this way, the Styles that use and update are isolated to that particular book and its associated word.doc. I mention this, but don't think this is the culprit.
The steps in the whole process have been:
1) Close word doc for the book.
2) In Acrobat Pro create PDF from word.doc file
3) Make changes to Initial View, and Properties
4) Save PDF using Pros "Smallest File Size" choice.
In our office, we have opened a copy of the PDF sent to publisher in Adobe Reader and all looks "normal." We have opened it on a stand alone laptop (not connected to our server) and with Acrobat Pro 7 we are able ourselves to use highlighter, comments, editing, etc.
This really has me stumped. To add potentially further challenge with "compatibility" our office and publisher are in USA. Publisher needs to add some comments to the PDF file and then it will be sent to several different people in Europe to use the PDF file to make a translation of the book, and we have not even tried that step yet.
Since our office is 7.0 and not X, am I correct that the latter still allows one to create PDF and have Initial View show pdf Title rather than pdf File Name?
Your thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

@BillI I agree that it is puzzling. I think that @George has the answer and solution, unfortunately publisher will not look at things until this coming Tuesday so can not yet mark his post as "the correct answer" and be done with all of this craziness.

After writing above, I tried to learn some basics about PDF/A and now have some additional ?s to understand and unravel this puzzle fully.
1) PDF/A is a newer "more robust" pdf standard, right? In creating PDF file in Acrobat Pro 7.0, is there actually an option to check box that you want the conversion to meet this standard? In creating the PDF that has been problematic for publisher to edit, I, as the author, did NOT intentionally create a PDF/A file.
I did embed fonts (which for this document were kept to Times) to increase compatibility.
I did NOT restrict the PDF file i.e. Printing, Commenting, etc. were allowed.
It was also created as a Tagged PDF
I believe it is true that the extension .pdf does NOT tell you whether a file is PDF/A. You need to look at the properties of the actual file, OR with more current versions some Adobe products there is a color bar that would let you know.
2) If @George has the solution, I am delighted but still has me puzzled. If I did NOT actually create a PDF/A file, could the publisher themselves have done this in their MAX Acrobat X software, and then locked themselves out from using it? Let me try to explain ...
A) I sent PDF file, that we ourselves are able to edit in Acrobat Pro 7.0 on a different workstation from what had created the file in the first place. However 7.0 does not have the user preference that @George refers to.
B) Publisher opens original PDF file and then does a SaveAs, so that they would preserve what I had sent as an original. Can they have their MAC Acrobat X setup with predefined job options that would automatically create a PDF/A file? If yes, then even if I as the creator had not made a PDF/A file, the publisher (downstream) had done this with their SaveAs step. Then thereafter because of the setting that @George points to, they had locked themselves out of editing things.

I appreciate anyone who tries to add clarity to this. I think I had already mentioned in one of my posts, that solving this between us and Publisher in just the USA is only the first set of steps in this chain. The PDF file that publisher will add comments to, will then be sent to Europe to someone who is translating the book, and I have no idea of what operating system nor what version of Adobe they are using (and they might even be using Adobe).
Even if @George has solved the problem at the level of the Publisher, I expect that for the entire workflow that everything should be kept as a plain and simple PDF file, and have nothing in PDF/A "mode." For the current use we are not really trying to create a more archival storage of the content and appearance and so it seems that PDF/A has no advantage AND is creating some "compatibility" and usage problems.

My macbook pro keeps freezing and shutting off when I am browsing the web on Safari. How can I figure out what is causing this issue?

For the past few weeks my computer will slow down when I have been on Safari for awhile, then freeze, and then just go black. I have to press the power button and then it goes to a black screen with the apple logo and a loading bar underneath when it reboots. I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but on my previous mac it would have an error message if something like this happened that I could submit. Any suggestions of where to start to solve this issue?

Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the BOOT_TIME log message that corresponds to the last boot time when you had the problem. Now clear the search box to reveal all messages. Select the ones logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.

In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Audition REALLY SLOW all of a sudden. What could cause this?

Within the last week Audition has gotten slower and slower. It takes 5-10 seconds at least for playback to start. It has become unworkable. What could cause this and what settings should I change to fix it?
