What's the little yellow calender?

I notice lately that I have a bunch of little yellow calenders under my "library" icon. There is 6 of them and they all have pictures in them. Where did they come from and can I toss them?

Jerry
They are Smart Albums, based on date. So, want to see only your 06 pics, click on that one. You can probably figure out the other 5 ;)). And no, they're hard wired into the app so you can't get rid of them. Don't want to see them? Then click the disclosure beside the Library, and it will close and they're out of sight.

  • What is the little yellow round square silhouette icon inside text boxes?

    Hi,
I am wondering what the small icon is, that appears inside text boxes in the upper right corner.
It is mustardy-yellow with a thick rounded-corner outside frame, a thin inside frame, and the silhouette of a person.
Does it have a purpose? I can't select it, and it does not reveal anything on roll-over.
    Just curious, thanks!

Using a non-Web Safe Font will not automatically turn that text box into an image file. However, its appearance on any computer that does not have that font installed will be difference as that computer substitutes a different font for it.

  • After updating to iOS6, I can no longer find the "little yellow man" in the MAP application and so cannot do a virtual tour of my destination or current position. Surely this feature has not been lost?

I have recently updated to iOS6. With this new version came the "new and improved" MAPS. One of the most important features i enjoyed on the previous version was the google map feature of being able to take a virtual look at your position or destination by using the "little yellow man". I no longer see this feature and am wondering what I am doing wrong. Obviously apple would not be so negligent as to remove this feature on purpose!
    Thanks
    Ian

That feature you mentioned is called Google Street View. As you see in its name, it has Google in it.
Apple is no longer working with Google for their map system, for many unknown reasons (we can only speculate). Therefore, it is normal that Street View is not included anymore.

  • What are the little red squares on the lower left hand corner of a movieclip in the actions panel?

What do the little red squares on the lower left hand corner of the movieclips in the actions panel mean?  [Fig. 1]
I'm working off this template in Flash CS3, that's using ActionScript 2.0 actually.
I don't know whether or not that means anything in regards to the above inquire?
    Again, any help is appreciated.
    Fig.1

OK, I think I might have figured this out.
First. You guys keep insisting it's the Movie Explorer. It is not. It is the Actions Panel. You can see for yourself. Option+F9 opens the Actions Panel. Option+F3 opens the 'Explorer Window'. They are similar in appearance but they're not the same thing. They're just not.
Second. I believe that the red dots on the movieclips, and also buttons, indicates when there is actionscript directly on the movieclip and/or button, as oppose to actionscript written on a frame within a movie clip and/or button.
You really have to pay special attention to the top of the Actions Panel right next to where it says 'Actions' there's a dash '–' and then it says either 'Frame', 'Movie Clip', or 'Button'. This indicates exactly where you're about to write script to, or where you're reading the script from, so it's important to pay attention to this.
That left side pane, in the Actions Panel, is divided by 'Scene' and by 'Symbol Definition(s)' and it's confusing because it's possible to have a symbol appear more than once depening on where the actionscript is located (i.e. on a frame or on the movie clip or button itself).
For example if you have script on a FRAME within movie clip A, it'll appear in the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) pane, without a red box, but if you were to write script on movie clip A itself, it would still not have the red box on it in the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) pane, BUT it would appear again as movie clip A in the SCENE pane, and this time it would appear with the red box next to it, casue it now has actionscript directly on the movie clip itself. Wow, how confusing is that ha.
Keep in mind that if you made a movie clip B, within movie clip A, and if you placed actionscripts directly on movie clip B, NOT on a frame, then movie clip B would get a red box and appear UNDER movie clip A, within the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) pane, NOT the SCENE pane. Ha.
If you wrote script on a FRAME within movie clip B it would appear in the SYMBOL DEFINITION(S) again, yes a second time, twice, but WITHOUT a red box. Confused yet? ha.
I don't know why Flash decided to do it this way. But it starts to make sense when you're actually viewing it, when it's in front of you. I think this is just for actionscript 2.0 (and for actionscript 1.0 presumably), but I don't think this is the case for ActionScript 3.0, because in as3 it's all instance name based, and targeting based, so there's no such thing as writing script directly onto a symbol of any kind, button, movie clip or otherwise.
But yeah, that's it in a nutshell.
Thanks for trying to help anyway.

It might be a notification that an update is available for your Express.

I spotted your request when it was 1st posted, but I haven't experienced the 'phenomenon' myself so I've been waiting for someone who had, to post a fix — possibly saving you from some troubleshooting steps...
If you've already found a solution, updating your original post might help steer others to that solution in the future. On the other hand, we can proceed to trying a few things to narrow-down what's causing that "stupid black" blight on your tablet's screen:
Right-off, regardless of the cause — just shutting-down then restarting your tablet may correct the issue; if the bar persists after that, you might check via Task Manager to identify a likely suspect under Startup items. Your description suggests a battery gadget or an app which uses the built-in microphone displaying the mic's sensitivity setting — possibly Skype or other 'social media' software.
Please update this thread with your current status re. this issue...

  • What is the little red light?

What is the little red light next to the ear speaker on the iPhone 5? It's very hard to see unless in a very dark room and it goes off when I lock my phone.

I saw a forum saying that was what it was. I felt that if that was so that it would stay on even when my phone is locked? Also there are multiple reports of people knowing for sure that there is no water contact with their phone and they still see the light.

  • What is the little circle spinning at the top of my phone

What is the little circle spinning at the top of my phone

If you mean the one in the upper left corner by your carrier name and WiFi icon, that is a symbol that indicates that the phone is connecting to a website, downloading something. It is a network activity indicator.
If it is continually spinning, it is searching for a signal or for something that it's not finding.

  • TS3276 What do the little icons in mail mean?

What do the little icons in mail mean, is there a list of them somewhere?

If you mean the little icons next to the message like below.  It indicates you've replied to a message, an arrow going to the right means you've forwarded the message and a paper clip indicates an attachment.
Items on the toolbar can be identified by right clicking the toolbar and selecting icons with text.

  • What do the little icons mean?!?!

    Hi,
A quick question, well 2 really!
I have a specially inquisitive client, who is always asking me difficult questions:
    1) In mail, what do the little icons mean that you sometimes get when opening an IMAP account. They look like little circles next to the inbox name - one has, like, 3 quarters filled in, the other has, maybe, 1/8th filled in... I can't find this information anywhere!
    2) Why does it take longer to show messages for IMAP accounts? I guess its because Mail is checking the synchronisation (or something else) between Mail and the IMAP server, but what's the official line?!?!
    Cheers!
    JS

    Hi James,
Since no-one else has replied I'll try to answer your question.
The circle you discribe is shown to the rightside of inbox when the Mail-app is connecting (retrieving) messages. Or when you click on another mail-box such as Trash or Junk. If it's not completing which it should then disappear, Apple suggests you go to DOT-MAC & read your mail there. This is because since the release of Tiger or mid 2005 Mail-app has difficulty reading unread mail from DOT-MAC! But I do find that if it's already open it can sort my in-coming Junk mail OK! And un-read messages. This answers your second question, I hope this helps.

  • What does the little cloud with a down arrow next to a song mean

I upgraded my phone from iOS6 to iOS7 and had to remove all my music to get enough space which is fine because I wanted to reload it anyways.  When I opened the music app, thinking there would be no music there, I was surprised to fine hundreds of songs each with a little cloud with a down arrow next to them.  What does the little cloud with the down arrow mean?  If I click on it am I purchasing something? Are they songs I can listen to for free?  I don't use and have never signed up for an iCloud account so they can't be songs I purchased because I haven't purchased any songs.

Means they are stored in the cloud and you need to download them.
