Also, all Swing code should be called from the Event Dispatch Thread. It probably isn't hurting much in your case. But, in the body of main, do this (instead of the comment, put what you currently have as the body of main):
    EventQueue.invokeLater(
    new Runnable()
          public void run()
// Your current body of main.

  • What's wrong with Mac Mini Server's quality ?

    Hi,
I am an owner of the Unibody Mac Mini Server 2010 for my business server.
When i bought it after two days use the HD started to fail. One with bad blocks and the other one with I/O errors. OSX froze many times. Did many tests and it showed bad blocks on one HD the second just failed some times.
The HD that are included are HTS725050A9A362.
I took the Mini to an Authorized Repair place. They replaced one HD. Gave it back to me. I then realized that they only replaced one HD. Took it back again and then they replaced the second one as well. All fine took it back home installed everything again.
I have now use it for 3 months. Couple of weeks ago i woke up to a message box saying that the Mini has beed shutdown by some error. Could not find out what that error was but things looked to be running ok so i left it like that.
Today i woke up to a dead mac mini. It would not boot. It was sitting with the spinning weel so i made a reset of the RAM or whatever it's called you know Command + P + R. That made it go a little bit further. It now stopped with the Folder icon blinking meaning it could not find a boot disk. Hmmmm i thought. This can only be a disk error. Tried to boot with DVD and do repair but it did not work out.
To rescue my data from the second disk i booted in target mode and used my iMac to copy stuff over. Let me tell you that, that was not easy. Target mode worked like ****, maybe because of the first disk which was damaged dunno. When at last i opened the folder with my stuff the copy speed was ok. Funny enough i also managed to copy data from the disk that could not boot in target mode but i can't boot it so the disk is not really dead.
Now my problem is this. What to do ? I have warranty but i have a feeling that theese HD are not reliable so if Apple repairs the Mini again they will replace with the same HD which i am not interested in. I am willing to invest in 2 new HD myself which are not the same brand but i don't want to void the warranty and open the box.
I should add that i have 2 x 4gb memory inserted which is not Apple. I bought exactly what Apple recommend on their web page (CORSAIR 4GB DDR3 1066MHz model. CM3X4GSD1066 G). I do not think this has anything to do with the problems i see but i thought I'll mention it.
I can also mention that after first time the HD died i kept an eye on the temperatures and i had HD temperatures around 35C. The CPU was around 48-50C and the server was idling at 80-85%.
What can you recommend me i do ? Maybe all the problems that i have are just ****** quality by Apple. Maybe they squeezed the internal components to close and they run into these problems. I just don't know what i should do. It's not like that this is a computer...it's a server and MUST run continuously.

Are you certain the RAM is not causing this issue?
Was the original (2Gb-4Gb) RAM fitted when the 1st issue appeared?
Apple does not offer the current Mac mini + server with 8Gb RAM. It is likely that non OEM RAM can cause corrupted data on the HDD(s).
Is it not possible to fit the original RAM, format/reinstall the HDD and test the Mac mini the way it was shipped?.
The current Mac mini is positioned as a home or small business server plus there is no hardware reporting as found in an X-Serve. The HDD(s) used are as reliable as one would expect from a portable drive. Like the previous Mac mini's, the current models are reliable with few known issues until you replace parts that Apple may not have used in testing.
Since the arrival of the late 2009 mini, Apple uses sensors on the original HDD(s) which cause problems (either no boot or loud fan noise) if a different brand or model is fitted. The HDD needs to be compatible with the sensor(s). The 2010 Mac mini has taken it even further in that respect covering each drive with Mylar wrapping as well as the sensor. Apple really does not want users to swap parts out.

  • What's wrong with my iPod Mini?

I've had my iPod Mini for coming up to a year now. But for a while, it's been playing up heaps!
As soon as I charge it, it does say it's full, but as soon as I put a song on, it gives me the "No battery power remains" message and turns off. I can turn it back on sometimes, but it keeps on doing it!
Eventually, I might get 1 hour of play time out of it before it goes completely flat. But I do have it on all the power saving settings and stuff.
    What is wrong with it?

hmm, im not too sure but mine will do the same sometimes and mine now will only be like 3/4 power when it says its charged lol. play time is really going down the drain too.

  • My 2nd mini iPad in a year and same problem happened,it stopped working. what's wrong with mini iPads?!

I got a replacement to my daughter’s iPad mini in September b/c her 1st one stopped working and now it happened again. I took it to the Apple store and  i was told that there's  nothing they can do. What's wrong with the iPad minis?

I have an iPad mini and it works great, so do many other people.
Is it possible your daughter abused the device?   If it gets dropped, even in a damage proof case, it is a shock to the iPad.   Most survive, but if it happens often, it might be a problem.
Charging often, not completely, leaving in charger while in use a lot?
Leaving the iPad in a hot car, or freezing the iPad?

    You're welcome.
Voicemail is left at your carrier's server. That will continue to work unless you report your iPhone as lost or stolen with your carrier.
You may never find it again and you can't if the iPhone remains offline or out of service which means the iPhone is powered off or doesn't have cellular reception.

  • What's Wrong with My Computer?

I have a G5 desktop computer, I believe it's referred to as a "Power Mac." My mom purchased it some years ago, I think in late 2005 shortly after this particular model was on the market.
    Info is:
    Version 10.5.8
    Processor 4 x 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5
    Memory 4.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM
    Hard Drive 240 GB (127 GB unused/available)
My mother wasn't using this computer for many years, and my 13" Macbook was giving me trouble, so she gave this one to me. It's all been great (she maxed out the memory and hard drive space when she bought it, even though it is outdated and insignificant compared to current models), except for one little thing... Browsing the internet is usually fine when it's only one window, but not always. However, it is almost a guarantee that while trying to operate multiple windows and trying to play a video, Safari will crash. And not just once in awhile. I'm talking about on a daily basis. During regular offline computer use, like Photoshop or iTunes, the computer will sometimes grey over (as if someone put a fairly thick grey film over the entire screen), and tell me I have to restart the computer. So what's wrong with it? I presume it is a physical issue (failing memory, mother board, etc.), but what?

Your computer is not remotely "maxed out" with RAM.
You're describing a G5 Quad like mine (though mine was built in June of 2006), and maxed out means having 16 GB of RAM installed, like mine has.
    The Frolick wrote:

That's called a Kernel Panic, and, yes, it is most often caused by hardware problems, such as bad RAM or mismatched RAM.  I can't imagine how you get to 4.5 GB of RAM without exponentially increasing the risk of mismatched RAM.
RAM has to be installed in matched pairs, starting from the center slots and spreading outward: 4*3*2*1*1*2*3*4
On the other hand, my own personal experience has led me to conclude that Safari is a piece of cr@p.  It causes problems just being active in the background, causing other applications to fail.
Check your RAM carefully, starting with just one pair of matched RAM sticks in the two center slots, then adding one pair at a time.  Check your hard disk with Apple's Disk Utility.
The kernel panics can be caused by a damaged directory too, so if you own Disk Warrior, run it.  If you don't own DiskWarrior, at least Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility and use Verify Disk/Repair Disk with it.
I'd also recommend downloading and installing Applejack and run it according to the instructions.
    Good luck.

  • I need help figuring out what is wrong with my Macbook Pro

I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro with OS X Mavericks on it and for the past few weeks it has running VERY SLOW! I have no idea what is wrong with it, i have read other discussion forums trying to figure it out on my own. So far i have had no luck in fixing the slowness. When i open applications the icon will bounce in dock forever before opening and then my computer will freeze with the little rainbow wheel circling and circling for a few minutes... and if i try to browse websites it take forever for them to load or youtube will just stop working for me. Everything i do, no matter what i click, the rainbow wheel will pop up! The only thing i can think of messing it up was a friend of mine plugging in a flash drive a few weeks ago to take some videos and imovie to put on his Macbook Pro, he has said his laptop has been running fine though... so idk if that was the problem. Anyways, could someone please help me try something? Thank you!!

  • What is wrong with my iphone4? and how can i turn it back on?

About a week ago, i was using my iphone that I've had about 6 months, no problems. It was working perfectly fine and then out of nowhere it shut itself off. I plugged it in, nothing happened. I pressed the home and lock button, and held them in, and still nothing happened. The next day I decided to plug it in again, and it told me to leave it plugged in, like it was dead or something (the red battery symbol popped up, and said it was charging) and about 10 minutes later the iphone came back on. The only problem was that from here on out my home button does NOT work, at all.
The phone was working................ until about 3 days later the same thing happened to it again, except the next day it did not come back on the same way. My mom took it to the AT&T store (living in west virginia, there aren't any Apple stores near by). She came home with it working again, but I have no clue how they got it back on.
A few days after the second time it shut off, it happened again. We took it to AT&T again, and this time they couldn't get it back on, but they gave us some tips. We plugged it into itunes, and restored it. I was over the amount of space. I had no storage left!! So  I went through and deleted all my music, and about 500 photos (having around 1,200) . I now have about 700 photos, 20 songs, and roughly 15 apps. ONE day after I did all of this, my phone shuts off for the fourth time !!!! (It is off right now) Seeing how I have 3 GB of space left on my phone, I would think it's not a storage issue.
I've plugged it into the wall charger, nothing! I have tried to reset it holding the home button (which still does not work) and lock button, still nothing. I have now plugged it into itunes. It says the device is found, but not identified please restore the device. So I restore it, but that doesn't help, Itunes still cant "identify" the device and it is still not on.
I have checked for water damage, and there is not any! I just want to know what is wrong with it, and how to fix it. OR maybe if I just need to get a whole new phone, because mine is under warranty. The problem is AT&T won't give me a new one and there isn't an apple store near me! Can someone PLEASE help?

I think you might get a new phone instead of repairing it as it takes time and you said the repairing center is far from your living place

  • What is wrong with my Macbook?

I dropped my macbook (2007 model) and the screen is so cracked that I can not see anything. I got a mini-dvi - vga cord and plugged it into a monitor, but when i turn it on, it just goes to the mac background, and will not show the login screen. What is wrong with it?

it's putting the monitor as second display, so the login screen (i'm guessing) is only displaying on the first—main—screen, the the one that is cracked.
restart the macbook and don't touch anything. when the background appears on the secondary monitor, you know the login screen must be up on the first monitor. so type in your username, hit TAB once, then your password.
you should be able to log in now. then follow these instructions:
(bare in mind i'm running 10.6.8)
    1) press ALT+F2 to open up displays in system preferences.
    2) you should be able to see a dialog open up in the secondary monitor
    3) if this has a "Gather Windows" button, press it
    4) if step 3) works, you should be able to switch around the main displays, or turn on mirror mode, or whatever

  • What's wrong with my macbook pro (15" early 2011) when i connect it with TV via hdmi

What's wrong with my macbook pro (15" early 2011) when i connect it with TV via hdmi

    Hello Alex,
It sounds like you are getting excessive CPU usage when connecting an external display via HDMI to your computer. I would try the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
Reset the systemYou can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolutionStart by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • What's wrong with my iMac G3?

What's wrong with my iMac G3?
Ok. I'm going to attempt to be as thorough as possible on this one. When I first got my iMac G3, it was stated to be non working. I got it from freecycle. The lady who provided my with the machine said that "one day it just wouldn't turn on". So, I still took it home. After I set it up, it turned on and booted into Mac OS 8.6 no problem. After about two days of using it, I turned it on again and it said something about "finder could not be started because draglib-setdragimage (or something like that) could not be found." It gave me a restart button, which I clicked. After about a day of messing around with it, I found that holding the shift key to disable extensions would allow it to boot properly. I decided to re-install 8.6. However, the cd was not recognized (perhaps because it was an ISO, not DMG). So, I proceeded to install panther. The first time it booted with the panther cd (and ever since), there has been no startup chime. It also will only get to the apple logo, without the spinning thing, where it freezes. Only the button on the keyboard works to start it up. And, occasionally it will boot into open firmware. I don't know what to do from here. I can still boot into os 8.6 with extensions off.
    Help?
    Thanks so much in advance,
    -Don

And, occasionally it will boot into open firmware.
Seems odd to me. All by itself? Did you press any keys?
I don't know what to do from here. I can still boot into os 8.6 with extensions off.
Most likely, you have a bad extension. They are in a folder called extensions What you need to do is create a new folder and move extensions to this folder. Move extensions to the folder in groups. try 1/2 first. Move back & forth between folders. See which extension is causing the problem. command + n to create a new folder
verify that you have the correct firmware.
Figuring out what level of firmware you have?
    1) Mac OS 9.x or 8.x, you need to use the Apple System Profiler.
    Apple -> Apple System Profiler
    2) Mac OS X, use the System Profiler.
    Apple -> About This Mac
click on the More Info... tab
    click on Hardware
    read the Boot ROM Version
    3) Open Firmware, boot into Open Firmware.
Power on your iMac while holding down commandoption+of
The first output line contains the firmware level. Mine reads:
    Apple PowerMac4,1 4.1.9f1 BootRom built on 09/14/01 at 13.18.04
    Copyright 1994-2001 Apple Computer Inc.
The 4.1.9f1 will be different on a 333 machine.
    What firmware do you need?
