What triggers long exposure 15fps mode for color?

Hi,
As most of us are aware the color stream automatically switches to 15fps long exposure mode when it detects low light situations.
No this is not a thread to complain about the sensitivity of it (although some control would be very welcome), but I have a question:
What exactly triggers this mode?
Does it measure an average brightness in the color channel?
Or just the darkest pixel?
Am I correct in assuming it's purely based on the color and the IR is not referenced at all for this?
I am working with HDFace and figuring out how I can best ensure 30fps mode by proper lighting.
Since it references color only for detecting blinks (according to the docs) HDFace tracking is really sensitive, and very negatively impacted, when the color switches to 15fps mode. Especially since it internally always uses synchronized frames so IR then also
switches to 15fps.
Greets,
Brekel

From my experience my guess would be that autoexposure is based off of the darkest pixel. When trying to light an interior scene there have been times where I've had half of the frame completely blown out with the darker half of the screen properly exposed.
Even still I've had issues with over exposure when the entire frame is well lit. I suspect there is another factor in play that attempts to detect "low light".
I've noticed when working during the day, with a little bit of diffuse natural daylight in the room the Kinect rarely drops below 30fps. However at night, when the room is only lit by tungsten bulbs, no matter how much light is in the room it struggles to
maintain 30, is blown out and has a very long shutter speed.
I haven't had a chance to properly test it with a light meter, but it seems that the Kinect treats tungsten lighting (color temperature 3200k) as darker than daylight lighting (color temperature 5500k) even if it is the same or more amount of light.
Again, this is just going by eye so I could be completely wrong. I will try and do proper tests this weekend.

    Hi
    From your title,
    >>what is the smallest Gcd value for Colors
What do you mean about Gcd value?
Do you have some code that you could show us to illustrate what you are trying to achieve? Or are you just
talking in vague general terms about how you might go about writing some kind of code
And the more details the better responses you will get. Thanks.

  • What should the owner and modes for / be?

I have owner 'admin' group 'sys' mode 775 for / which doesn't look right.
Disk utility 'repair disk permissions' doesn't change this.
Console messages: 'can't create kext cache under / - owner not root'.

If the group is 'sys' and not 'system' then something is wrong.
    Run this command in Terminal:
    ls -aleO /
and report what it says for / (the first line with the . at the end). Also, if it contains lines immediately after it that start with a number and colon (0:), please also include those.
    You should get:
    drwxr-x-r-x 32 root    admin
You might also have the sticky bit set, which would show as a lower-case t at the end of the posix permissions.
Did you change any permissions in the Get Info window?

  • Fetch Mode for association RowIterators

    Hello all,
In Jdev 3.2, I saw that a new "tuning" tab appeared in the view object wizard.
In the corresponding help pages we can read the following "If As needed is specified and too many row sets are open (and left open because they are not navigated to the end), the user may run out of result sets and get a DMLException exception (You can set the jbo.max.cursors runtime parameter to a higher number, if needed.)"
If I'm not mistaken, when 2 entities (e.g. dept, emp) are linked by a 1:n association, the entity on the 1 side of the 1:n association gets an accessor which returns a RowIterator.
for instance, in DeptImpl, I'll have a getEmp() accessor which returns a RowIterator containing EmpImpl entities, right?
So I'm just wondering what will be the fetch mode for this iterator.
The part about "...left open because they are not navigated to the end..." worries me a bit.
If these RowIterators use the "as needed mode",
how can I be sure that they are properly closed when I'm finished using them?
    is there a RowIterator.close() method? (I haven't seen one)
Should I just navigate till the end of the RowSet?
I'm having quite a lot of Maximum open cursors exceeded exceptions on one of my programs, which makes extensive use of associations RowIterators, so I'm wondering if this could be the cause...
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Remi

    Ravi,
Great question. The iterators returned from association accessors use "Fetch as Needed" mode. So, if you are not exhausting the rows from an iterator (i.e. fetching all the rows) then the cursor will stay open.
In the 3.2.3 maintenance release, there is a new close() method on oracle.jbo.RowIterator so that you can prematurely close the cursor if you want.
In 3.2.2, unfortunately the only way to make sure the cursor gets closed is to fetch all the rows from the iterator.

  • Is it a problem if the fans are in "airplane mode" for a long time?

OK, have another quick question about my G5 Quad:
Occasionally (like 2 or 3 times a year), my Quad fans will go into "airplane mode" - I don't know if it's from a failed boot or what (though a hard restart clears the problem), but my question is regarding if it is a problem if it stays in "airplane mode" for a long time.  I can't find anyting on the www about this (though LOTS of complaints on the "airplane" problem).  I wouldn't "think" that it would be a problem as the fans spinning up are supposed to protect the computer, but I wonder if my assumption is correct.
The reason I ask is because the Quad sits in the basement, and I can't hear it unless I walk down there (which is one reason it's in the basement - heat being the other...).  If the computer freezes or fails to reboot, I may not notice it right away (which has happened recently).  It could sit with the fans running at max for several hours until I notice it.  I hope this isn't a problem.
    Thanks again
    Richard

    Biggest problem is power consumption.
The default action for the fans is high, which is meant to protect the components in the case of freezes, crashes, boot errors, etc.
    I hope this isn't a problem.
Only if it becomes a common occurrence.
Then, you need to find the root problem.
Watch the LCS on the Quad. Though possibly less problematic than earlier models with LCS, it does use, nonetheless, a LCS.

  • DOC_CHANGE_BADI not triggered for OLD SC-SAVE mode for EDIT- SAVE steps

    Hi Experts ,
    We have SRM7.0 ( SP08) with ECC6 ( Ehp4) having Classic Scenario.
In our business Price list ( Price in ECC Contract) will be always change  so, we have done small enhancement in BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI in method BBP_SC_CHANGE, to get latest Price of the already assigned SoS ( ECC Contract ).
When we create new SC/Template  from scratch or copying old SC or Template it brings latest prices correctly .
Case 1)Template - If we EDIT Template  &  just click on u201CSAVE AS TEMPLATEu201D button (w/o any change!) .. Doc Change BADi called & Template items updates with  latest Prices .
Case 2) OLD SC in SAVE Mode -But exactly same is not happening with OLD SC with SAVE mode ?  i.e.  When we open Old SC in EDIT Mode and SAVE it ( or even Check and refresh it) ..it do not updates items with latest Prices of Contract. It means Doc Change BADi is not getting called..by clicking on just  EDIT and SAVE buttons, unlike Template .
If we have to change something i.e. enter some Text  or add one line Item and deleted it again..etc, then only Doc Change BADi is getting called and updated with latest pricesu2026which is not recommendable ..to change the OLD SC in SAVE mode every time.
Can anyone please suggest/confirm,  why DOC_CHANGE_BADI is not getting triggered  in case of Mode , if  we open OLD SC( SAVE status) in EDIT Mode  and just SAVE it..just like Template ?
What can be done to achieve above ?
    Thank you .
    NAP

We are having the same SRM release and SP level. I did a brief test for the two scenarios you mentioned. There was no difference for me: neither template edit/save without change or old SC edit/save without change went through BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI implementation. And I wouldn't expect there is a different behavior here as an SC template is also technically an SC document. I would suggest that you make an attempt to change the price in BBP_DOC_SAVE_BADI implementation instead.

  • Where do changed data values goto if DB is in BACKUP mode for LONG PERIODs

Where does oracle write if put the database in begin backup mode for LONG PERIODs. Lets say I issued a "ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP" command in a busy database and forgot about it for a long time.
I understand that when the DB IS IN BEGIN BACKUP MODE, "the database copies whole changed data blocks into the redo stream." (Page 503 of 11.1 backup and recovery guide). But the redo stream is limited by the number of online redologs. After some time redologs also wont be sufficient for the changed data values after a begin backup is issued. I understand that there are archived redologs.
Lets say there are 2 redolog groups in this database and Lets say 10 archive log files got generated since the ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP was issued.
When i finally issue the "ALTER DATABASE END BACKUP" command, will Oracle sync the datafiles with the changed data blocks reading the data from these 10 archived log files ? What happens if i delete these archive redologs from the archive log destination. ??
page 504 of 598 in the backup and recovery guide
Caution : If you fail to take the tablespace out of backup mode,
then Oracle Database continues to write copies of data blocks in
this tablespace to the online redo logs, causing performance
problems. Also, you receive an ORA-01149 error if you try to shut
down the database with the tablespaces still in backup mode.
it just says "performance problems", nothing more than that.*
Any answers ? I am sure this question would have popped to some of you senior DBA people out there.

The redo stream is not limited by the number of of redo logs, only the volume of data. When a log fills up, it gets archived. If all the logs get filled up before the first one is finished archiving, the db will stall until the next redo becomes available. The only limit to archiving is disk space (and bandwidth if that is an issue, which it can be in some configurations).

You do not understand archive logs, read the concepts manual.

  • How to combine digital shots in CS6 for a really long exposure

    Hello all,
I want to make a really long-exposure shot using my Canon 40D DSLR.  If I just set the camera to Bulb and take a long exposure, I get a lot of noise that eventually wipes out the image.  I understand that you can achieve the equivalent of a long-exposure by combining several (many?) shorter exposures of the same scene.  This is routinely done in Astrophotography and other areas, but I don't know how to do it.  I tried googling some of the terms, but I guess I didn't use the right terminology because the search didn't turn up what I wanted.
Can this be done in Photoshop, or do I need some other tool to accomplish this?
I'm using CS6 on a Mac Mini with OSX 10.8.4.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The term you want to look for is "dark frame subtraction".
Your Canon 40D has a feature called Long Exposure Noise Reduction. As part of your Google searches you should research whether you need to turn off that feature if you are going to do dark frame subtraction manually.
Sorry I can't be more detailed but I don't actually do much of this, I just remember reading about that stuff.

Thanks very much for all your help!
Although there is one little thing that I've noticed. The iMac works properly, but I tried to software update to see if that may help my Minecraft sound issue (as I still don't think only having 2GB instead of 4GB would cause such a problem) but the software update application won't work. Running the "Software Update" from the apple menu on the toolbar gains no response, nothing happens. If I run the software update from  system preferences, the application icon appears for a second, then disappears (as in the blank app. icon, the blank canvas with the pencil, pen and ruler in the bottom right corner). It does this every time I try to run it. It did work when the computer was crashing, but this started when on one of the occasions I ran the app. while it was crashing. Since this occured during the crashes, and still occurs now, I'm wondering did something simlar happen minecraft, as it's sound disappeared during the crashes and is still gone now.
However, the computer is now working again without crashes, which is the main thing, thanks for helping me fix the issue
Edit: I would mark the topic as solved, but I'm unsure if this would lock the topic or something simlar, so I'd rather leave it open for any ideas regarding the software update and Minecraft issues I'm having

You will be returned anything that is in the option's value parameter. What is displayed in the dropdown and what is put in the value attribute do NOT need to be the same, so maybe you should start there.

yes, but I'm trying to use my iPad to type notes (using pages) and I have the smart case which I use as a stand.
