What will happen to my purchased movies/TV shows if iTunes removed them from the store?

I'm honestly sorry to bother you. I tried to google this and cloudn't find a good answer.
What will happen to my purchased movies/TV shows (that I haven't downloaded on my devices) if iTunes removed them from the store? Will I still be able to watch/download them from iCloud?
I'm trying to buy all my favourite movies and TV shows without downloading them, to keep them in iCloud that I can access from all my devices whenever I want, but I'm scared that iTunes will remove them from my iCloud if something happens to the contract between them and the production company. Should I worry about that?
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it.
Best,
Faisal

Thank you for taking the time to explain this.
But the thing is, I don't want to download ANYTHING because I don't have storage. That's why I want to buy them and watch them through iCloud (on my Mac iTunes) without downloading.
I know that it's safer to download them. But does "safer" mean that iTunes might not let me access my purchases through iCloud?

  • What will happen to my Muse sites if I have not completed them before the Muse release?

Hi, do I lose everything I have been working on while in MUSE beta if I have not completed and uploaded to a server??? Will my work all be saved and move into the new OFFICIAL software (if I pay etc.) --also, I am concerned moving to latest version of MUSE beta will mess up or lose all unfinished work (several projects lost?) -hope this makes sence...-Thanks!

Actually, since sites created in Muse can be exported as regular HTML/CSS/Javascript files, then it does use "industry standard files".  The .muse file is similar to using a .zip file.  It's basically just a container that packages up all of your HTML/CSS/Javascript files along with instructions for managing all your assets.
And yes Adobe does have another program that one can build and maintain a website using industry standard files.  It's called Dreamweaver.
That description of the .muse file does not appear to be remotely correct, unless you are observing a newer beta than what I observed. The .muse file contains a sqlite db that does not contain HTML/CSS/JS. You need Muse to translate that .muse file into HTML.
Further, if you observe the HTML generated by Muse, you will see that it is not structured (either at the page level or the site level) for easy portability to other HTML editors like Dreamweaver. Muse developers stated in the previous forum that they are not intending Muse's HTML to be edited in other programs.

  • HT201272 I cannot find previously purchased downloads of American Idol performance video's on my iMac after it had a virus and I cannot download them from the Store?

My iMac had a Trojan Horse virus and I had to reformat and install it's OS again. Now I cannot download any of my video's that I purchased from the iTunes store of Amerian Idol in 2009. How could I get them back?
Thanks in advance for your help.

We are fellow users on here, you are not talking to iTunes Support here.
Whether a film will show in the Purchased link will depend upon what country that you are in (redownloading films isn't possible in all countries), what studio that they are from (not all allow re-downloading), whether they are still in the store (studios occasionally remove them from the store), and whether you've hidden them or not (hiding and unhiding).
Do any films show in the Purchased link, and do you not have copies of them somewhere ? If some do show but others don't then are they hidden (some might also have been removed from the store or the studio doesn't allow re-downloading) ? If you do have Movies as an option in the Purchased tab and you think that there should be more listed there (and you haven't changed countries since buying them), then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they know why they aren't showing
But as with all content from the store you should be keeping and maintaining your own backup copy of them, as there is no guarantee that a content provider won't remove their items from the store.

  • Who should open a new account? What will happen to older purchases?

My wife has been using my Apple account for a few years. I also have an iCloud account and used iTunes Match. Now I have my own iPad, and need to "cut off" my family from access to my Apple email, iCloud documents, etc. Who should start a new account - me or my wife? What will happen to our purchases, and what devices will be able to play them?

    Hi claybrowne,
iTunes purchases are linked to the Apple ID they are purchased under, so you should keep your account.
There is the option for your wife and family to continue to use your Apple ID for purchases only but have their own Apple IDs for iCloud, but I'm not sure how to stop them from using your Apple ID for other things other than telling them "this is for purchases only, use your own account for everything else."
See "Apple IDs and iCloud", the section "Using one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store Purchases".   They can have their own email and Apple ID for FaceTime, Messages, iCloud, etc.

What will happen to my purchases (esp the songs) if I upgrade to a new iPhone device considering same apple ID?

The same purchases will be available on the new iPhone using the same Apple iD.
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store then switch Music ON.

  • I have seven(7) podcasts on my iPhone 4 that iTunes will not delete. iTunes copies them from the phone to the library and will not  delete them from the phone when deleted from the library.

I have seven(7) podcasts on my iPhone 4 that iTunes will not delete. iTunes copies them from the phone to the library and will not delete them from the phone when deleted from the library. I have replayed the podcasts over and over and they still won't delete. Podcasts are WSJ Tech briefings.

This happens to several of my podcasts whenever an updated iOS comes out. You can delete the episode directly from the phone by swiping it from left to right. That seems to fix the issue (they drop off the phone and dont reappear on iTunes). It's as if iTunes stops tracking the play count for some shows.
    Hope this helps!

  • Cant find where i can purchase movies/tv shows on itunes....

in itunes i cant find where i can buy and download movies/ tv shows, and is it possible that i can get stuff off of my family guy DVD onto itunes or is that illegal?
    Compaq   Windows XP Pro

If you are located anywhere but the US, you will not be able to purchase movie/TV content from the store. This content is only available in the US at this time.

  • What will happen with matched songs if you cancel your iTunes Match subscription

Does anyone here know what would happen to your nonpurchaced songs if you let your iTunes Match subscription expire?  Will they be removed?

    Hi CLaCour,
I think the answer to your (and my) question can be found under 'a few iTunes Match questions'.
bigturnip said once you download the matches that were made, they are yours.  You pay for imatch and for that you can choose to use them and download to device or Mac.  Once this is done, it becomes yours.  You dont have to use the matches that are made.  He also explains about what is used in the storage.  It the uploaded (unmatched) song whitch uses up the free storage from icload

It will only delete it from the device you press Delete on.

  • Purchased movies not showing in iTunes for Mac

I'm using the same apple ID on several devices, and am able to access all purchased movies on my Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad. When using iTunes on my Mac, only 25 of the 50 purchased movies viewable elsewhere are accessible. I've tried accessing the missing items through the iTunes store, hoping that they'd be available for download, but am only given the option to purchase them again. Does anyone else have this problem and/or know how to remedy it? I've already tried deauthorizing/reauthorizing, and logging in and out. It has been happening for a while, so I don't think that it is something that was caused by a recent software update.
Thank you for any help that you can provide.

I feel dumb. Solved it for myself. In case anyone else has this issue, instead of looking at purchased items from within your library, go to the iTunes store home page, and select purchased from the menu on the right. Then there will be a tab for "not in my library." This is where your purchased items that haven't been downloaded to your computer reside.

  • Purchasing movies/tv shows in itunes (Canada)

How do I purchase movies or tv shows in the Canadian itunes store? I don't see anything available except for the Pixar movies. Is this possible??

Sorry, but as has been said here many times already, the movie studios have not licensed Apple to sell movies outside of the US. There's nothing Apple can do unless and until they're granted the rights. When, or indeed if, this will happen, no one can say, though Apple has said that they hope to be able to offer movies internationally sometime in 2007.
As to TV shows, there have been no indications if, much less when, the show owners will ever license Apple to sell them in Canada.
Again, sorry, but we'll all just have to wait and see.

  • Video purchase has disappeared from my iTunes library and from the store.

I have recently discovered that a video which I had purchased from the iTunes store about 2 years ago (Leonard Cohen's "Closing Time") has disappeared from my iTunes library. I did not delete it, and I have not had any computer issues which required backup. The purchase is still listed in my iTunes account, but other than that it is as if the whole download never happened. It appears that the store no longer sells the video, and when I "reported" the problem on the account page it was if I was talking to myself ! To keep things simple I took the position that I wanted to repurchase the video, but the Apple representative offered me a credit. When I refused that as a solution, saying I wanted him to tell me how I could repurchase the specific video, one which I owned, he backed off and ultimately said that he was going to submit the matter for investigation, and that I should get back in touch with Apple after a few weeks. (This has brought all my conspiracy thinking tendencies to the surface !) Has anyone else had a similiar experience with a purchased item disappearing for no apparent reason ?

Today i went to add a bunch of movies to my wife's iPad. I realized she had not seen The Book of Eli so i went to add it but it was missing. Same story as above. I have not moved the file, or deleted it. It is just missing from my USB HDD where all my movies are. iTunes store no longer sales the movie.
I can see them stop selling movies... but how did it just get removed from my USB HDD????

I have an iMac 2013 running OSX 10.9.4. I want to use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup user files to an external hard drive to free up space on my iMack Hard drive.
So, say I make the backup today, delete iphoto libraries from my iMac, and then backup my iMac in a week. What happens to the iphoto libraries that are on the external backup drive now that I am backing up the iMac where they no longer exist?
I will have them backed up to a separate second external drive as well.
I'm just very cautious about removing them from the hard drive.
Thanks for helping and understanding my crazy caution!

I'd like to store my Aperture /IMovie Libraries on an external hard drive.
That is fine and recommended.. use the fastest disk you can afford.. ie Thunderbolt>USB3>FW800>USB2.
In addition, I'd like to partition the external hard drive so that Time Machine can use it to both back up my IMac and the external library drives.
Let me be clear.. you want to partition the one disk.. use it for TM and move your files to the external disk.. and then backup to the same disk.. You can do it.. but that is not a backup.. that is an experiment in how long you can get away with running files and backups on the same disk before you lose everything.. like Russian Roulette.. pull the trigger enough times and laws of probability will do you in.
You must have backups on a different disk .. otherwise it is pointless.
Can I set up a RAID 5 format for redundancy?
No.. you can buy special USB and Thunderbolt external drives that support RAID..
BUT that is still not a backup.. let me show why.. you make a silly move and corrupt your file in aperture.. it is not that rare.
Raid will corrupt all copies of the files.. it is replicated across all disks.
Delete a photo it is deleted across all disks.. you have no recovery.
Alway, always consider RAID system one disk.. backup onto another disk.. and if the photos or movies are at all important to you.. ie your family .. make another copy and store in a relatives house.. There is no such thing as too much redundancy.

  • I purchased a tv show from itunes.  While downloading from the store it shows in the video list, when done, it disappears. what is happening?

I purchased a tv show from itunes.  I can sync to my iphone. I tried to sync to ipod touch 4gen. Sync seems to be fine, but the video doesn't show up.  While downloading from the store it shows in the list, when done, it disappears. what is happening?
I finally figured it out.  I had the parental controls restricting videos on my son's ipod.  Once I changed the restrictions, the videos appeared.

Fill out a customer service request, they will respond. I had a problem with my account and Apple was very helpful.
BTW... the store is still down.
